I started on this as soon as I’d finished the first in the series. Wonderful characters and another cracking mystery. So pleased I bought the boxed set.
Zoe is back and now she is in school, training to use her magic. Then her teacher is killed and Zoe is on the case. The author writes this series really well and I love the characters. This is a cute read and I look forward to the next one.

Well Zoe has well and truly made a name for herself with only being in the two for 2 weeks and her actions have got her attending Magic Academy .. eat your heart out Harvey Potter, I mean Harry Potter. Of course death has to follow and Zoe isn’t letting this one go with out getting to the bottom of it. I love how her relationship has evolved with Chief Mueller and Raina along with Mitch finally seeing she is very serious in her job to find out the truth. There are plenty of suspects and motives that leads us down a windy road never knowing who is going to jump out as the killer and when you find out who and why… wow!
Zoe Clarke is a telepathic witch who was invited to learn about her powers at the Veilside Academy of Magic. When a Professor/Vampire is killed Zoe uses her reporter skills to find out who did it. Great writing, interesting storyline and intriguing characters captivated me from the first page until the last. I am looking forward to finding out what Zoe Clarke is up to in the next book.
I enjoyed this book every bit as much as the first one. Zoe begins her education at the magical academy and finds that students aren’t much different no matter the school, troublemakers, divas and smart kids alike. And that her new notoriety is a good and bad thing. But when, on her very first night of classes, someone kills her new favorite teacher and curses the teaching assistant she is all business.
Zoe is funny, smart and tenacious when following leads. The story is strong, moving along at a good pace, the dialogue well done and the characters quirky as ever. We learn a little bit more about her parents and her family line in this book, and some hints from her grandmother who, I hope, will come visit her in a subsequent book. This is a solid second entry in the Moon Grove series. I look forward to the third installment.

This reporter is new to the town and has already solved one case! She’s a new student in the magic school when her prof is murdered…so she looks into this case.
The story is cute and cozy, a paranormal mystery!

Trouble just shows up wherever Zoe happens to be. It is like a magnetic attraction for her to find dead bodies. The second book in the series carries on with Zoe still getting use to living in Moon Grove. and getting to know the residents.
You will meet new characters like Mallory, Aurelia, Seth, Profs. Grimm and Hallewell just to name a few new faces.

This was a good read. The characters are funny and manage to draw you in from the first chapter. I like that the story takes place in a paranormal town as opposed to a witch in a non magical setting. I would recommend this book.

You have to admit school was murder – even without the actual killings. Now we add a murder to the mix, and Zoe is off to the races. She is using her magical ability to see who the culprit is before there are more unfortunate happenings. All she wanted was to develop her powers – well what a way to work on them at school. Lets hope she gets through it with out a detention!!! Loved it!!!
Zoe Clarke, newly recognized witch, starts her first day at the magic academy. But her first day is more exciting than she expected, as a teacher and one student are attacked by someone.
A great cozy mystery, . well-written and a good sequel that can also be read as a stand-alone.

Loving this new series. Who knew school as an adult could still be so cutthroat! Just want to learn new skills and stay low key. Not going to happen.
Never saw the who done it coming. Nice job. I missed the clues. Nice tying up the ends
Love the Previously ..recap at the beginning of the book. Was a great little hint or reminder of previous book. It helped to remember what book and series this was going to be. I admit it, sometimes I forget what I am doing, lol. Please keep in future books.
Still waiting to hear Luna’s story. Will be fun to see when Gram comes to town. Looking forward to these events happening.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Reporter Zoe Clarke discovered that she is a witch and has been invited to go back to school to learn more about her craft. She soon finds herself a bit in over her head at Veilside Academy of Magic as she is thrown into a class with extremely talented and experienced witches and warlocks. The first day of school doesn’t go as expected when a vampire/witch professor is killed and left in a pile of ashes. Zoe soon finds out that while the professor was a favorite, she still had a number of haters including a warlock with a grudge and fellow professors jealous of her success. Zoe finds herself once again on the case both as a reporter and as an amateur sleuth to find out who killed the professor.
I found the best part of this book is the character of Zoe. She is thrown into a world of magic that she never knew existed, let alone knew that she herself had special powers. As she navigates learning about her new skills, she has the opportunity to make friends with other witches and paranormal beings, opening her eyes to a wonderful magical new life. This is a lighthearted book with lots of mystery, madcap adventure, magical beings, and touches of humor.

This is the second book in the Magic and Mystery series. If you like witty witches, catty talking cats, and magical murder mysteries, then you’ll love this second addition to Lily Webb’s spellbinding series.
The protagonist Zoe is strong, intelligent and witty, she finds herself immersed in a world of magic and paranormal beings in Moon Grove N.C. In this installment Zoe has been enrolled in Veilside Academy of Magic to sharpen her newfound powers. So when Zoe finds her new favorite vampire professor in a pile of ash, she feels compelled to find out who did it.
I really enjoyed this book, there was lots of twists and turns throughout, I found myself once again not wanting to put it down. I like how the author is starting to flesh out the characters more as well as the village of Moon Grove, I can imagine the place in my mind and what some of the main characters look like. The characters are well-rounded which I find is equally as important to a story as the plot I felt for Zoe and what was happening. I highly recommend to fellow Cozy Mystery fans who enjoy a bit of magic and paranormal thrown in. Cant wait to read book 3.

the more Zoe finds out about Moon Grove and her own family tree, the more lethal things become.
of course her grandma remains a bit of mystery – hopefully we will see more of her in future book.
but it urns out Zoe has a family connection to a strong blood witch/warlock. a very dangerous connection indeed.
There is a movement among some of the males to bring more power to the warlocks, so they can be out from under the power of the witches who rule o much.
blood magic seems to be part of the scheme, but how it fits in is a bit of a puzzle.
Zoe adds a new friend Mallory to her tribe – an awesome .
Handsome Beau asks her to go steady.
except for stumbling upon dangerous situations and bodies, things might be looking up for Zoe – and if Grandma can visit too, things may be about to get really interesting!

Zoe Clarke was new to the paranormal town of Moon Grove, and new to magic. But through her newly discovered telepathic abilities, Zoe was able to put the killer behind bars for the rest of their life. Now she’s invited to attend Veilside Academy of Magic to become even more proficient with her skills. But explaining this on the phone to Grandma Elle is not as easy as she had hoped. Just the part of telling her she is a witch did not go well. Encouraging Grandma to visit her — if the Council of witches and warlocks approves it — also did not calm Grandma down. Maybe this phone call had been a bad idea?
Beau arrived to walk her to the school. She was a bundle of nerves. Raina Woods, Headmistress of the Academy and Zoe’s magical mentor, met her and took her to meet Delia Frost, Professor of Kinesis — and vampire witch. Raina told her that each of the five branches of witchcraft has a tower dedicated to its study: Alchemy to the southwest, Divination to the northwest, Transmutation to the northeast, Kinesis to the southeast and Aether study (healers and necromancers) takes place in the central tower since the magic of life is at the center of all witchcraft. With Zoe having a strong specialty in Kinesis, Raina wanted her to see the common room and meet the professor. Delia was kind and helpful. Zoe even made a friend in class, Mallory, who walked her to her next class and made arrangements to take her to buy a wand. But not everyone was kind and she would have to watch her back!
As roll call was being taken in the next class, a piercing scream was heard! The hallway was in chaos as people ran screaming. Zoe remembered Delia was meeting with a troublesome, angry student, so she and Mallory ran out into the hallway and headed for Delia’s office. Phoebe hurtled out of the door spouting nonsense, and ran into Zoe, taking them both to the floor. Zoe untangled herself and ran into the office. She found a heap of ash smoking on top of a pile of powder-blue robes, which she recognized as Delia’s! Someone had murdered her! She picked up a journal off the floor thinking it may have been the journal Delia confiscated from Seth in class. It contained apparently blank pages, but Zoe put it in her bag anyway. Delia’s assistant, Phoebe, was still on the floor making gibberish sounds. Raina had arrived by then and recognized that Phoebe had been cursed! Zoe was deep into another murder mystery! Would she be able to solve this one? Had she just put herself into terrible danger by getting involved?
This is the second book in a new series that has thoroughly hooked me! Zoe Clarke, the main character and a witch, is a strong woman who can deal with surprises and still come up smiling. The characters we meet are amazing and intriguing. The story line is filled with a combination of danger, laughter, fun, suspense and mystery. As in Book 1, the twists and turns will keep the reader excitedly invested in this enjoyable and well-written book! Grab your copy and watch Zoe in action!
