What do a cold case and a skeleton have in common? At first glance, there’s nothing connecting the two cases, but the more Cassie and the team start digging, the more similarities they discover. And when a third body shows up, they’re faced with a murderer on the loose. Can they catch the killer in time?-Spell Tamer is an urban fantasy and book 2 in the Paranormal Criminal Investigations series.
‘Spell Tamer’ is book two in Laura Greenwood’s “Paranormal Criminal Investigations” series. It’s a fun, easy read, crime mystery filled with action, drama, surprises, several murders, paranormals, and a reverse harem cast of characters. Cassie, Hadrian, Isaac, and Zac seem to be the only ones who are able to connect the crimes. Now they just need to fill in all the pieces to bring justice to the victims. I tend to read dark romances so I thoroughly enjoy Laura Greenwood’s unique style of light-hearted stories to bring balance back into my psychic before delving into the dark again
I always love reading a Laura Greenwood book because there are so many of them out there. She is the perfect author to read when you are wanting something quick, fun, and enjoyable to read. “Spell Tamer” by Laura Greenwood was an amazing read that was almost better than the first book in the series.
This is the second book in the Paranormal Criminal Investigations series. In the first book there was a lot of character building information and world building information. While the second book was able to focus more on the actual mystery that was happening. I enjoyed how book two combined more of their magic and science together to solve the case.
There were still some points of relationship building that happened between Cassie and her three mates. There were scenes where all of the characters were working together and then there were one on one scenes with Cassie and one of her mates. It made the book more interesting to see how everyone worked together versus the one on one working together.
If you are looking for a book that is full of romance this is not for you. The romance in it is very subtle and well placed to where you get the idea of it, but it not over emphasized. I loved this fact because I was able to see how their relationship developed, but that wasn’t what took over the book. It was very much focused on mystery and science.
I rate this book a 5/5 stars. I loved how the action and adventure were wrapped together with the romance. This book is definitely a must read. I highly recommend reading the first book and then reading this one.
Well Well Laura has written another great book that kept me gripped from the start.
These book’s are easy to read and a real page turner.
I’m loving the characters more and more, and the bond that they have is great and work’s really well. Cassie with her bright hair that she keeps changing from pink to blue, to purple, I wish I could do that
I love all of the characters and how unique they are.
You’ll just have to read the book for yourself to find out for yourself how unique they all are together
I promise you’ll love it and want more, just like me.
Right I’m off to read book 3.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and it didn’t take me long before I started book 2. Spell Tamer is even better than the first book. I like the combination of the paranormal with a new mystery that they solve in each book as well as the romance between Cassie and her three guys. This book is well paced with not a dull moment and I liked seeing how everything progressed.
Spell Tamer starts two years after the end of book 1, which was a bit weird at first as I had to wrap my head around the fact they now spend 2 years doing this and also that their romance was 2 years further. Once I got that all sorted in my head I actually was kinda happy with this time skip. It’s great to see how far they’ve come and it’s also nice to see how Cassie interacts with her three mates now that they settled a bit more into their relationship.
Where book 1 had some introduction to do, of the characters, the romance and the world, this book could dive right into a new mystery. The mystery was an interesting one when they notice a pattern in two seemingly unrelated deaths and they have to figure out who and what is behind it. I like how they use a combination of magic and science to solve the case.
It was fun to see more of Cassie and her three guys. There are scenes where they all work together, but also more quiet and connecting scenes. I liked how Cassie spends time with each of her guys, but they also do a lot together as a group. I like learning more about all of them and I enjoyed seeing them interact now that their romance has progressed more.
To summarize: Spell Tamer was even better than book 1. The combination of mystery, the paranormal and romance makes for a great read. The pace is well done and I wanted to keep reading, each scene adding something to the story. It was interesting following the characters along as they try and solve this mystery and I like how they use a combination of science of magic to solve it. I also liked seeing more of Cassie and her three guys. They make for a great team and I liked seeing them all work together and also seeing Cassie spend time with each guy separately. I look forward to book 3!

Cassie and the guys are back in Spell Tamer book two of the Paranormal Criminal Investigations series. When Cassie and the guys get their next case the investigation takes them on the trail of a serial killer with ties to another case. The writing is well done, the characters are interesting and the paranormal mystery is packed with magic, danger, suspense, drama, and an ending that left me wanting more.
CSI joins the paranormal world.
This is book two of the series, but it works fine as a standalone. Any essential bits are covered early on.
This is an urban fantasy story with a paranormal CSI-type agency and a witch as the lead. The story is well written and easy to read. The characters and setting are also well developed and solid, providing great vehicles for the plot. And as the story is set in the author’s paranormal council universe, fans of the setting might enjoy seeing yet another element of the world. The plot itself has plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting making for a very enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

The PCI team is at it again and it takes every one of them to figure this one out. A newly found skeleton has a connection to an earlier unsolved murder… serial killer? This group is fun to read about and I love the banter and trust they have. The storyline is terrific and the twists are great. Loved the ending and how well it all wrapped up. Well done.

Witch Cassie and her mates – Vampire Hadrian, Necromancer Isaac, and Bat Shifter Zack – run the Paranormal Criminal Investigations (PCI) department. They are tasked with removing as many supernatural criminals off the streets as they can since humans don’t know they are among them. Yet. This is a fast-paced story with magic, romance, and just enough steam to keep a reader happy. Highly recommended.

I have always loved police procedural books and mysteries and add in the paranormal element and I have hit the jackpot of books to read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading how Cassie and her fated-mates go about solving this particular crime and how well they all work together as well as the underlying romantic connection between all of them that is woven throughout the book!

In this police procedural meets cozy mystery, Cassie and her boys are working another strange case. Their sharp eyes and investigative skills match signs on a skeleton to a more recently found body and a pattern begins – you won’t believe the lengths they go to in their attempts to solve this one! The stakes are high, is the risk worth it?
This is a fated-mated RH, but very low heat – a few light kisses. Mostly, it is about the way the four of them work together as a team and support each other. As their bond deepens, there might be implications for their magic, the beginnings of which are showing up here.
This book jumps forward in time a couple years from book 1 and has a complete, independent story line. If you want to know how Cassie met her boys and they all started working together, read book 1, but it is not necessary to do so to enjoy book 2.
This was a really good murder mystery paranormal story. I love Laura Greenwood’s works because each story is different and interesting in its own way. This story is a reverse harem but instead of focusing on the romance between the characters as much, it is focused on the mysterious crimes that have been committed. The story was very entertaining and a rather quick read.. I really enjoyed the characters and trying to solve the mystery along with the characters. I can’t wait for the next story!

Cassie was lucky to have found her career with the Paranormal Criminal Investigations team, and luckier still to have found her mates
They make a great investigative and lab team.
When a skeleton has links to other crimes, things get quickly tricky
Together, Cassie and her mates can resolve a variety of situations
Action, love and murder on on their research list

Book 2 in a fun easily read series that has a mystery in need of being solved by the PCI. It was interesting and fun and I had to read to see what was going on and how it was all connected. Plus had to see how magic would be used to solve the mystery. The characters were interesting and added to the story. Cassie is always fun to read as she maneuvers around the crime and her personal life. Just a fun quick interesting read I enjoyed.
