What do a cold case and a skeleton have in common? At first glance, there’s nothing connecting the two cases, but the more Cassie and the team start digging, the more similarities they discover. And when a third body shows up, they’re faced with a murderer on the loose. Can they catch the killer in time?-Spell Tamer is an urban fantasy and book 2 in the Paranormal Criminal Investigations series.
It was fantastic to catch up with Cassie and the guys and see not only how their relationship is evolving but also how Cassie’s role in the Agency and her plans for it are progressing. When a new case hits their desk it is all hands on deck but Cassie knows that if she had the database that she so wanted would have been a great help but something like that will take time. This is another fabulous book by Ms Greenwood and an excellent second book in the series. The plot moves along at a fast pace and is really easy to read.

When Cassie and her team at Paranormal Criminal Investigations begin to make a connection to other murders, it will put them on the trail to a very dangerous serial killer. It all started with finding a murdered man’s old bones with an unusual break. That links up with a more recent case and then a third body is discovered. They strongly believe the paranormal serial killer is still out there. Can they track down that killer before the deaths begin to pile up?
Paranormal Crime Investigations. PCI for short.
Cassie and her three mates make up the newly formed PCI, for now. Until they can get more members. But their current case is a mystery. This is book two of the Paranormal Criminal Investigations (PCI) series and follows Cassie and her three mates, Hadrian, Isaac and Zack, as they work together as the only PCI team in their county to solve paranormal crimes. They come across the bones of a murder victim and have no idea of his identity, but Zack their pathologist and, believes the way the neck was broke was familiar somehow. He and Cassie, a witch with a bat familiar, search though their previous cases and find one of their cold cases has possible similar injuries, with the addition of his heart being ripped out after his death. Neither of them are the same sort of paranormal, so there seems to be no connections that could lead them to the killer. Isaac is a bat shifter and works in the lab with Cassie and they are both happiest when working at opposite ends of the lab, in their own little areas. Hadrian is their team leader and a computer whizz, as well as a vampire, but is absolutely useless with most of this new-fangled social media and all the apps on it. He clicked on an ad for the MatchMater Paranormal Dating app and didn’t realise that he would get less messages, if he just ignored it and didn’t reply. He even thought that the social media apps could be listening I to him all the time!
The team have worked together for a couple of years and they are still trying to improve on their knowledge and specialised equipment, getting Hadrian to ask for anything they can think of that they want or need. Since they have only dealt with so many cases, they have no way of figuring out what type of paranormal they are dealing with, if there are no visible signs on the body. Cassie comes up with the idea of setting up a DNA database, as well as blood types, for all the different types of paranormals there are out there. Some are very rare and not easily identified, so any assistance they can produce to make future cases easier, would be very useful. A third body turns up, again close by, and with similar injuries yet again. As they got to the body quickly this time, Zack manages to use his skills to talk with the dead man. This provides the best clue to what their killer is doing to choose their victims, plus the DNA they left behind on his body. Now they have to try and catch the killer, using all the information they have managed to discover and gather together. The PCI units may be quite a new thing in the paranormal society, but their work will only be increasing in the future and it will be interesting to see what other cases they have to solve. Spell Tamer (Paranormal Criminal Investigations #2) is a fun paranormal crime mystery story. It is an entertaining easy read, and I read it rather quickly. There is action of the supernatural, paranormal type, a little drama, some surprises, and a very intriguing murder mystery. Once again, Cassie and her crew are up to the task of solving a very challenging series of interconnected crimes, murders to be exact. They are the only ones who can do so. With her mates Hadrian, Isaac, and Zack working by her side, she will make sure her team succeeds and bring justice to the victims. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, the second book in this series, and look forward to reading the next book in the Paranormal Criminal Investigations series.

Cassie and her guys are on to another murder case and it looks like the killer may have just left an important clue for the team. While Zack and Cassie stumble onto a new clue that may lead to another more ominous issue, with a little magic and lab research the PCI team may solve this case. The storyline is good, and the characters are very interesting and they are precise in their investigation, suspense, violence, drama, and action. Good continuation of the series with a new mystery to solve. The action moves along nicely and the story is good.
Cassie is still trying to get certain things running better at PCI. Cassie and the guys are called due to a dead body. They are trying to figure out just what happened to him. They determine that another case ties into their current case. Cassie finds out some information that helps them with the case. Cassie and the guys realize that it will take all their skill the culprit in.
I found this was a good story, it could have had more to it. You will enjoy the story as it progresses. I look forward to reading the next book.
I enjoyed this story. It has great characters. It is easy to read and entertaining.best of all, it is not filled with graphic copulation scenes. It tells a good story with a mystery to solve and has a reverse harem angle. I would recommend it.

I’m so happy that Laura Greenwood writes so many books! There’s absolutely no way I will ever end up without a Laura Greenwood left to read and that’s exactly how I like it. When I don’t feel like reading big books or deep and complicated stories, Laura Greenwood is always there to welcome me with wide open arms to a story that will for sure leave me with a smile on my face and a warm feeling warming my soul.
What I love about this book, and the series in general, is that the mystery and the science are the focus of the story. It’s all about the research, the main characters really use their intelligence to run the right tests and to search in the right directions to find the killer on the loose. And literally everything they do seems logic and thought out. They’re not just trying something and recklessly going somewhere, they’re acting on facts and actual information they have.
That doesn’t mean that there is absolutely no romance in this story, but it’s more subtle. It’s shining through. The love is very clear from the interactions between Cassie and her boys. They all have those small gestures to show the other that they care and pay attention. They have those very short moments of bonding and joking and the tender gestures speak volumes about how much they really love each other.
But most of all I love Cassie! It’s hard to explain why, but for some reason she’s the perfect female character. She is kind and compassionate, she really wants to do good and help people, but she’s also curious and her excitement when she gets some new equipment or has a break through is so contagious! Maybe Cassie is not the bravest or toughest girl ever, but she feels real and she seems like the kind of girl I can and would like to be.
This is a fun story. Since the RH relationship was resolved in the previous book, there wasn’t really any romantic growth in this one, but I would have liked to see some progress like moving in together. There were a few sweet moments between Cassie and her partners. The murder mystery was suspenseful and interesting. I’m curious to see what the next book brings.

Cassie and the gang are back and right in the middle of a murder mystery.
A fast paced action packed story. Men are showing up with snapped necks and hearts missing. They have no clues to who they are and why they are being murdered? They have one hell of a mystery to figure out.

I love the concept of this series, it’s just a shame the stories are so short as I would like to read more of Caddie and her team!
Different and interesting read!
