Because BB Easton had so much fun writing her bestselling, award-winning memoir, 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN, she decided to give each of her four men his own steamy standalone. SPEED is the second book in the 44 Chapters spin-off series—a gritty, 90s-era love triangle overflowing with dark humor, intense heat, and tangible teen angst. It is based on a true story. After her possessive, psychopathic, … her possessive, psychopathic, rage-fueled ex, Knight, joins the Marines, sixteen-year-old BB is left trying, and failing, to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart. It isn’t until she meets Harley James—an easy-going, tattooed mechanic with a face as angelic as his habits are sinful—that she learns how to live again. How to laugh again. But will she learn to love again?
Over Knight’s dead body.
*Due to excessive profanity, violence, graphic sexual content, and themes of juvenile drug use and delinquency, this book is not intended for—and should probably be completely hidden from—anyone under the age of eighteen.

Another interesting, steamy, heart wrenching tale of BB’s truth.
This story continues from SKIN and takes you further in the journey. New people show up as well as old ones reappearing.
I don’t know what to say that the book description didn’t without giving anything away or using this forum like a therapy session.
After each book my mind whirls and my heart doesn’t know if wants to hug me or hate me for subjecting it to these stories.
Read for yourself, I don’t think you’ll be sorry.
BB Easton keeps doing this to me. She keeps writing wonderful, beautifully messy memoir-hybrids about her past that I can’t get enough of, so I keep bumping them to the front of my TBR list just so I can read them again. And it tends to take me forever to sit down and write the review because I have to take time to process the emotions that she has stirred up. SPEED is the second spinoff novel from her memoir, 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN. It starts with BB shattered and utterly broken from the disastrous breakup with her first love, Knight. Luckily, Harley James swoops in just in time and gives BB the attention and fun that she so desperately needs to build herself back up to her sassy and sarcastic self that we all love. Harley is all man, with an easy going nature and an appetite for speed and good times. BB is smitten and she thoroughly enjoys the ride. We get to see more of BB’s BF Juliet, and we meet a couple new characters in Victoria and Dave. Their character development is on point, and because BB’s writing is so funny and so relatable, you feel like you were right there with them all, partying away. Times were good between finishing up high school at the local community college, and living on the high that was Harley James. But a lingering doubt creeps in and she begins to see sparks of shallowness in their relationship. When she starts to interact with Knight again, she can’t help but compare her relationship with Harley to her all-consuming relationship with Knight. Knight is as torn and damaged as ever and he still knows that BB deserves more, but he just can’t stop himself from talking to her and being with her, and dammit if she’s going to be with someone that doesn’t deserve her it’s going to be him (paraphrased from a letter that Knight writes to BB)! The vulnerable and raw way that Knight shows his love, along with cracks in Harley’s easy-going demeanor, cause BB to fall back into painful bliss with Knight. But we know their love story can’t last and BB gives us another fantastic explosive relationship death. And just when you are left crying “WHHHHYYYYYY?” she once again leaves you with hope and optimism for her future and BB shows us a little more of her self-worth. The feels don’t quit in SPEED. I give it 5 BOSS stars!
Two words – Voodoo Magic
That is the only way to explain how BB Easton was able to make like Harley James, for the most part.
BB just keeps proving herself as more of a brilliant, one-click author with every word and every book she writes.
After reading 44 Chapters about 4 Men, I was all #TeamKen, well when he wasn’t being an emotionless husbot and started getting shit done. BB clearly started making better decisions when it came to men but then I read SKIN and holy crap, I fell HARD for Knight. I was all about #TeamKnight. My heart strings were tugged in every direction for the cold hearted, crazy, skinhead. How does that even happen? He is not the one you are supposed to cheer for. But his love for BB was intense and you couldn’t help but fall for him.
I am so happy that Knight was back for this book. It just made me love him and little more. I know this was Harley’s story but I couldn’t help but get giddy when I would see Knights letters. Ugh and how my heart broke for him! I really can’t get enough of Ronald McKnight.
In 44 Chapters, I wondered what the hell BB was doing with Harley aka “dingdong” he seemed like a total tool! In SPEED she gives us a side of Harley that I didn’t completely hate – at first. He was carefree, fun, reckless (it seemed innocent at first) and he made our girl BB live again. Then shit hit the fan and I stood by my original statement. I am not a Harley James fan.
However, without Harley there would be no Davidson. Who doesn’t love the pervy guy with jokes? I want more of him, do you hear me BB? It doesn’t even have to be a full 44 chapters, I will settle for 22!
This book though is definitely worth all the praise, one-clicks, pre orders and teasers that will come. BB is brilliant and I cannot pimp her out enough.
Thank you BB for quitting your day job to follow the path you were meant to be on <3
This is another 5 star read for me.
To say that I practically inhaled in one breath all the awesomeness that is this book would be an understatement. I was detached from reality, living and feeling BB’s emotions, drowning in her pain and suffering but also skipping heartbeats in exhilaration, far too many times to count. I was suddenly 16 year old BB, transported back in time, experiencing life at full throttle while trying to figure out the world.
And that was not an easy feat. Especially since Knight’s letters still had the raw and painfully real intensity that ripped my heart open. Just the sight of Knight’s all caps handwriting brought tears to my eyes. I read them over and over again. Then I read my favorite parts in Skin. And I cried. Tears of both sadness and joy for this epic journey.
SPEED was brilliant! Still Team Knight though.
Speed is definitely an appropriate title for this story! An amazing journey that will definitely give your heart a workout! A must read and can’t wait for book 3!
WOWZA!!! That just about sums this story up.
What an utterly brilliant, wild and emotionally charged ride I’ve just been on.
Because this book is based on actual events in BBs life (which parts are exaggerated is anyone’s guess, I’d like to think it’s all true.) makes it all the more terrifying to think of the danger this young girl finds herself in. It shocked the hell out of me at times but also made me laugh at the little quips in the book.
I swear this story played like a movie in my head as I read it.
BBs skinhead Psychotic lover Knight has left her to join the marines hoping to direct his anger issues in the right way.
This has left BB a mess and spiralling into a deeper darker place than before. To me Knight was the only one who realised or cared that this girl had demons of her own. ( Which is one of the reasons I love him )
My heart kind of broke for her because of this. I admit I was scared for her at times. Although at times she showed real strength and courage for such a young age.
Quite quickly BB meets Harley, who is every young girls wet dream a gorgeous tattooed bad boy who drives a cool car.
Not only that but he pays attention to her. BB can’t believe her luck.
They have some wild moments that’s for sure.
I absolutely loved this story, I know this is Harleys book but honestly the guy can kiss my A$$. I’m still Team Knight and always will be.
I did love Harleys Redneck Brother Dave that guy cracked me up. I’d love a little spin off about him.
If you’ve never read these books, you really should because they are amazing. I might have a little girl crush on BB too.
“His sweetness, playfulness, his hard body, his beautiful, boyish face-they were smoke and mirrors, designed to enchant. To make me forget. My traumas, my guilt, his transgressions, my responsibilities-Harley made them all go away.”
No other series sits firmly in my heart like this one. It’s like a time machine straight back to the 90’s and I love each second. Our favorite spunky, vulnerable, little punk is still reeling from events in book 1 and it was a journey that I inhaled to watch her navigate through in her signature style. Laugh out loud moments chalked up to teenage growing pains, you devour each and every word. Attempting to move on from our favorite psycho skinhead, BB meets seemingly refreshing and different Harley James. The writing is so vividly expressive that you feel like you are right there with the characters, absolutely no detail left unexplained. I absolutely love her inner dialog as she tries her hardest to figure out her life. It pulls no punches and deals with such real issues in an honest and lovable way. Her flaws are endearing, her journey is intoxicating, and I love watching her stumble and pick herself right back up. We all attempted to figure out who we were and where we belonged at that age, and the Author nails those feels like a champ. Somehow I fell for Knight and Harley right along with BB, even when my adult brain was screaming otherwise, and for the life of me, I didn’t know who to root for. I can’t wait for more, and I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

What can we say about Harley…he’s adorable and nice, but he’s also an idiot. The appeal of Harley makes so much sense, but at the same time you have to step away and say why? Like some women, I too am attracted to a car guy. Harley has the right words, and the car skills, he even races, but if you want much more from him, you will find yourself lacking. B.B. found Harley and he was a great rebound guy after Knight, but she never truly opened her heart to him. Read their story to find out why they didn’t work out and why she didn’t ever fully open her heart.
I wasn’t as glued to my seat with this story as book 1, but it was still VERY good. It actually had me liking Knight more. I guess I like the bad boy. This story is very UNlike any high school experience I had which makes it doubly fascinating. Easton’s characters really come to life. Excellent writing and a story that draws you in from the first chapter. 4 stars
After reading 44 Chapters About 4 Men and then Skin I had of course to read the whole series
This journey through BB’s life and men is unbelievable fascinating.
This book is about the second man from BB’s journal, Harley.
But in reality most of this book is her attempt to forget or escape her feelings for Knight and finding herself.
I didn’t like Harley. He has from the beginning an eerie “aura”.
He doesn’t really care about anything but himself, but BB needs a lot of time to figure it out.
He makes her laugh and forget for a little while, but his drug fogged brain and his choice of earning money puts BB in danger, what he seems not to care about.
But Knight, OMG! I love this psycho as!hole.
He is unpredictable and she doesn’t know 90% of the time what his psychotic mind will do the next second, but he is so damn romantic (in his own way ) without trying and he writes the best love letters ever
This book is not a standalone. You’ve to read Skin to understand the whole story.
For all of you who needs a warning: this book is scorching hot
Hold the phone, grab a sitter and call into work, basically just cancel your life for a few days because BB, Harley and Knight deserve your complete attention. Speed will redefine what you think a book boyfriend should be, Never to be the same.
With every new addition to this series I am a mess. An emotional mess over these characters, every since I first read 44 chapters I have formed such an attachment to them all and with each new book it’s like learning more about an old friend. I feel because of the memoir-ish-ness of the story makes it all the more real lending even more emotion to it. This is more than just a story, Speed is a way of life because it was lived… well some one… not all but some.
BB’s writing style is full of humor, love, and angry teenage feels. She takes you back to being 16 and heartbroken over a guy and how the world is going to end because you aren’t together. And the guilt that can come when you try and move on. You will go through the full spectrum of emotions and be left drained. Straight up drained, be prepared for the bookhangover that can only occur after reading BB Easton’s work.
I can’t say enough how much this book killed me, I died a literary death. Read this, read it right now! Unless you haven’t read 44 Chapters and Skin… then go get those and read them and then come back and read Speed! I am eagerly anticipating Harley’s story in the next book, I know this story will only get better and better!

HARLEY JAMES WAS A REAL BAD, BAD BOY
Another good 44 CHAPTERS book by BB Easton…. SPEED is about the relationship of BB & Harley James… I liked him in 44 Chapters, but SPEED is a more detailed description about him, and I know everyone thinks Knight was a psychopath or a sociopath.. but I believe Knight really loved her the only way he knew how…Harley James came off looking WAY worse….He did too many things to her for him to have just been making regular mistakes….That was just who he was…She was lucky to have survived him….But, he sure made a good book subject….Have I mentioned how hot this series is???
I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!!
I loved this enough for it to be 5 stars, but parts were frustrating because I wanted to shake her and tell her to get away from him. Harley was more likable in the 44 Chapters book so I’m glad I got to see more of how that relationship turned out. I preferred the dumber version of him. I found myself rooting for Knight. It’s sad knowing how things go. I just started this series about a week ago and have been listening to the audio version. It’s my current obsession. It’s fun taking a trip back to the 90s. There have been several things I forgot existed. I’m ready to move on to the next one.
Again another excellent book in the 44 Chapters series by BB Easton.
TBH I actually didn’t like Harley at all LOL. That being said, I understood the attraction and the fact that young BB was just looking for someone to pick up the pieces after Knight left. Young BB actually reminds me of myself as a teenager. Almost exactly the same… it’s shocking how these stories could actually be my life lol. Minus the pink hair.
So at the end of this book I was very happy, and excited for the next one. (SPOILERS) And I was filled with butterflies when Knight came back… Just sayin 😉
After reading 44 Chapters about 4 Men I knew I wanted more. Skin is the first book in the series and its BB and Knight’s story and I loved it so much.
SKIN was different. It was unlike anything I’ve ever read and I loved every minute of it. The story was raw yet sweet and will evoke a range of emotions from you. It will make you laugh, it will break your heart and everything in between. You will not be able to put it down.
I listened to the audible version of this story. It was Narrated by Ramona Masters who did a fantastic job with the voices. Her speech was clear and understandable and she was perfectly suited for this role. Skin was a fantastic story worthy of more than 5 stars. I loved it and would highly recommend it.
Love, Love, Love, Love! Love BB’s writing! Love Knight! Love the romance! Love the rawness! This is Harley’s book, but really for me this is still Knight’s book. Ahhh Knight, I love him so much! I devour every word from him in this book! I may or may not have searched out his name on my Kindle before I started reading Speed because I couldn’t wait to see how he’s doing! He’s adorably sweet with how much he cares for and loves BB, and despite knowing that Knight and BB just weren’t meant to have their happily ever after, I still hold hope for this sweetly intense couple to be together forever! But alas, my heart will forever ache for Knight. Knight may not be for everybody, but he’s definitely for me. You should totally read Skin before reading this book, so you can have the full story. BB Easton’s writing is raw and passionate, and I adore how she tells a story. I love her humor! Speed starts off where Skin ended, BB’s heart is broken because Knight has joined the Marines, and she misses him terribly. BB ends up meeting a new bad boy, Harley comes into BB’s life bringing her some much needed levity after the intense relationship she had with Knight. Harley is a bit older than BB, a tattooed, sexy mechanic, who has a bit of a reputation, but BB is instantly attracted, and grasps at this opportunity to block out the pain she has been feeling. Fast cars and hot men! Lots of fun! Lots of sexy times! Now these sexy times aren’t tame, so be prepared for some kinktastic, dirty sex! Now Harley doesn’t hold a candle to Knight for me, but woah boy! the way BB describes him definitely gives me some sexy thoughts, but BB definitely deserves someone as devoted to her as Knight, so Harley, despite his sexy ways, just didn’t touch my heart. I’m so sad that I now have to wait until the next book to get my fix! I’ll just have to re-read Skin and Speed! Definitely read this uniquely wonderful story!
Let me first start by saying I loved this book! It is a stand-alone or ‘spin off’ of her book 44 Chapters About 4 Men. It is hard to believe that I have not read it and yet I have now read both novellas! I am loving them! In BB’s words; this book is my truth – it’s just not one hundred percent the truth.
Skin ended when her crazy ex-boyfriend, Knight, left and joined the Marines. BB has found herself very depressed. She is trying to move forward but just can’t shake the “ghost” of Knight. She struggles with body images, depression and other issues.
“I looked like I was dying.”
“Because I was.”
“Over a boy.”
In an attempt to help her out of her funk, her parents help her to purchase her dream car, a 93’ Mustang hatchback. Adding to that, a set of ‘pony’ wheels to go with it as a 16th birthday present.
“I was a muscle car girl on a Ford Escort budget….”
“…Whoever said money can’t buy happiness never gave a set of pony wheels to a muscle-car-loving girl from a working class family on her sixteenth birthday.”
So off she goes to get her new fancy tires installed when she meets Harley, the sexy, tattooed mechanic. She trades one bad boy for another….
Harley quickly becomes her distraction. The ride is wild! The situations are crazy! Parties, drugs, racing, sex! If even half is true, wow! Just wow! But through all of the craziness is Knight in the background! Honestly, I was secretly rooting for him!
This is one hell of a ride! I thought I was wild and crazy at that age. I’ve got nothing on BB! As I said above, I really enjoyed the book. I was on pins and needles at the end wondering where it would all go!
I can’t wait for Star, Hans’s book! Bring it on!
4.5 stars!
This is another fantastic book by BB Easton, I was completely hooked by this story, the writing is beautiful and you really feel like you are there as you are reading. This book was emotional, funny, interesting and I am super excited to see what happens next. I definitely recommend reading this book.
LADY LADY LADY, damn Speed is a MUST READ!!! I loved 44 Chapters and then BB decided to give the men their own full length stories and I was consumed with Knight now we are given Harley’s story and holy smokes I the race was on because I never wanted to put this book down. Three way love triangle had my jaw dropped Im still totally #TeamKnight but Harley won me over from time to time. This woman is unstoppable and unpredictable with the events that take place and the decisions made. My mind was just blown. Another incredible story has been shared with us through the eyes and mind of BB. Im dying to know whats happens in the future and cannot wait for more. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
