Anything that was nothing wasn’t human…Stolen from her old life.Stripped of her humanity.Robbed of her voice.Nothing but a number…Lost and alone, she collapsed at the feet of men, silently pleading for help. Only one came forward, protected and defended her from the jackals lusting for blood. With no voice, no ID, no belongings, she was nobody, she was nothing. Inconsequential in the … Inconsequential in the revolving wheel of life.
For Connor O’Malley, she was an angel, fallen from the heavens. Broken and battered, scared spitless of everything and everyone, he knew he had one hell of a job ahead of him. Her wounds were man-made, inflicted by a cruel hand, but the dirty, bloodied girl at his feet couldn’t tell him anything of what happened to her. The brand seared into her flesh spoke volumes, but nothing could prepare him for the full atrocity of what had been done to her.
Death stalks her, wants her back.
How long can she remain speechless?

I was enthralled with this novel from beginning to end. The pain and agony that Jenna (h) went through was so real that I could see the words on the page. That is one of the greatest feats for an author, to make you see the story you’re reading. Kay Elle wrote and I saw it all like a movie. My only hope is that this is the beginning of a series, because I absolutely need to have an ending for the cliffhanger.
This book ripped my heart out. This was so much more than just another dark romance. I physically felt the emotions of each character. My heart broke over and over and every time Kay Elle Parker put it back together. There were twists and turns that shocked me. This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more.
There is a very dark vibe to this remarkable story but I was completely captivated by it. A young woman almost stripped of her humanity by a viciously cruel monster is rescued and given a second chance at some semblance of normal by a kind and caring doctor and his trusted nurse. Together they nurture, support and fight for the woman even when she seems incapable of fighting herself. Somewhere along the way the doctor falls in love with his charge but but the pitfalls are many, the problems are never ending and the emotional toll debilitating but giving up was never an option.
Wow! Just, wow! This book is deeply emotional, troubling and dark, but not from the hero. I loved Connor and his heartfelt protective ways. It was the first and foremost thought he had when he first sees Jenna and it only grows as the story continues.
This has a lot of the heroine’s memories and they are horrifying. She’s lost in her own mind, unable to speak and unable to trust anyone. But with Connor’s love and Sarah’s friendship, she slowly begins to make a new life, to relearn herself and what she looks like on the inside now after the nightmare she’s lived through.
The relationship between Connor and Jenna was absolutely beautiful, even when she got lost in her head at times. I was concerned when he first pulled the Dom attitude with her and the daddy kink kicked in some. I’m not a fan of b/d/s/m and while I understood why it worked with her, I was disappointed that element was going to be used. Fortunately, it didn’t take the story over but I suspect if the next book involves this same couple, it will and I will probably skip it if it does.
However, I’m glad I tried this book and I would definitely try something else by this author.
I’ve seen a lot of readers rave about this book and I have to agree. It was very enjoyable. It had the twists and turns I loved, a strong hero and a heroine that works hard to fight her demons. I loved seeing Connor comfort Jenna. It was the bright side of this story for me. It had some kink, action and darkness to it that kept me pushing on.
I felt that parts were rushed though. The ending was really rushed and during the last chapter I learned that all my hunches were right. I had a feeling and while that feeling stayed, it still made for an epic twist. I plan to read another other books connected to this one and hope to get more closure with Connor and Jenna. At times I had a really hard time connecting. I’m to to say it was likely due to the fact that it was 3rd POV but all the raving so I had to read it. Even with not really connecting I did enjoy the story, the characters and the plot. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Didn’t think I’d be okay with the DD/LG, but she did it in a classy way that was informative and beautiful. This book tore my heart out and slowly put it back together. I can’t wait for more.
This is a very dark story so grab a box of tissues as you are going to need them. It’s told from different points of view. The main characters are amazing, and the author also has some great secondary characters in this story. It’s a book that is mesmerizing, no matter how dark and emotional it gets it’s I found it impossible to put down. If dark is your genre then grab this book now and start reading!

Wrecked. Utterly shattered. I was blown away! This book was so intense, so visceral, and so grippingly terrifying yet redeeming. How does one live through such horrifying trauma and come out into the light? I loved, loved, loved Connor’s stalwart strength and how he wouldn’t give up on Jenny, no matter what. She has borne pain and suffering that no one, human or otherwise, should ever have to endure. This was truly an ugly cry story, of a knight who would gladly give his life to save his fallen woman. The evil lurking in the corners kept my mind churning, just waiting for the next axe to fall. And God bless Sarah! She was amazing! And that ending…I have a feeling there is more to come…
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars, because Kay Elle Parker deserves all the stars ever. This was an amazing book, filled with lightness, darkness, love, hope, fear, and hatred.
Jenna is an amazingly strong character. She’s one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read. She has so much she has to overcome, and she manages to do it.
Connor is a good man, with a strong, honorable core. He wants to do everything he can to protect Jenna, and he does it well.
Such a fabulous book.

I Give this Book a 3.5/5 Star Rating, listing as 3.
No Serious Spoilers.
This was a very long book, I do like books that don’t feel rushed when the characters is an abused victim. My issue is some of the things Connor was able to do in his office, it was unethical/unsafe and seemingly not believable. I was losing interest in the middle.
The ‘Good’ Dom & Sub aspect was so-so, I do think it somewhat took away from the story.
That final ending was surprising yet in a way I think I already knew.
Overall Feel: A Decent Read.
