After the unexpected death of his sister, Ron Marshall is wholly unprepared to take custody of his two-year-old niece. Between his classified position as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Force Recon unit and his role as a single father, he hasn’t thought about women or sex in the six months since he got custody. However, his niece’s new pre-school teacher breaks down all of his defenses, … especially since they have a history.
Single mom Bobbi Granger has struggled since the death of her husband, but when her high school crush walks in with his niece, things may be changing for the better. She’s not particularly thrilled about dating another Marine—especially one who goes deep undercover at a moment’s notice—but she can’t deny the pull she feels for him.
When Ron is called away for an unexpectedly long mission and trouble finds Bobbi, will he get back in time to help or will he lose his second chance with the woman he’s been thinking about since high school?

Ron Marshall’s life changed in the blink of an eye when his sister died and left him custody of her young daughter. He’s a Marine and a member of a Force Recon Unit which means he often has to leave on missions with little to no notice and never knows how long he will be gone. While he’s found some amazing friends willing to help keep his niece while he’s away, he knows he has to make some changes to help give her some stability. Step number one is enrolling her in pre-school.
Bobbi Granger’s a single mom to a pre-teen. Her Marine husband was killed during a freak training accident and now she is barely making enough money to make ends meet. When her highschool crush walks into her classroom with his niece, she is more than thrown for a loop. While she really doesn’t want to get involved with another Marine since her prior relationship had plenty of issues, she can’t deny she has feelings for the man she first fell in love with in highschool. He can’t deny his feelings either.
Ron and Bobbi decide to give things ago, but each time they try to get close, something seems to get in the way. When Ron is called away on a mission, Bobbi offers to keep Samantha for Ron while he is gone. As the deployment lasts longer than expected, Bobbi starts to break down and wonder if she can handle this life. Things come to a head when unexpected trouble finds Bobbi and the children. Will Ron make it home in time to save his newfound family or will their second chance at love end before they’ve had time to really give it a chance?
Kat Mizera did a phenomenal job of stepping into Susan Stoker’s world of Delta Force Heroes. Protecting Bobbi was a super cute second chances romance and really did a fantastic job of fitting seamlessly with Susan’s characters, especially Benny, Jessyka and Wolf.
I love that Ron and Bobbi first met in high school. It was easy to believe they would be able to fall into a relationship quickly with their past already between them. Learning about them as teens gave the characters a nice added bit of depth and gave insight into the life choices they made to get them to where they are now when they meet unexpectedly when they both seem to need one another more than ever.
Protecting Bobbi was a great romance, but also has plenty of suspense to keep the reader turning pages to find out if Ron and his Delta Force comrades can save the day. 5 stars!
“After all these years, fate brought us together again, so you go save the world, and I’ll be here waiting when you get home.”
Ron Marshall is a badass in the US Marine Corps Force Recon Unit. That is, up till the day his sister dies leaving him with her daughter, Sam. He is now a single dad that has to put the needs of someone else before his own. Knowing no other life, fatherhood is new to him, and after taking the advice of his friends, he seeks out a preschool for Sam and walks into the classroom of his high school crush Bobbi Granger. Bobbi Granger is a widow of a military husband, and she too is now a single parent. Bobbi can’t believe the boy she crushed on in high school is standing before her, and is even more overwhelmed at the kindness he has shown his niece. Even after all the time that has passed, they are drawn together like magnets, and agree to give their budding romance a chance.
Ron and Bobbi’s story is a first love/second chance heartwarming story. I highly recommend this military romance by Kat Mizera!
Fantastic First Love, Second Chance Romance. The chemistry with these two is off the charts good! Single Daddy , Single Mommy Romance.
Ron and Bobbi are perfect for each other and seen to finally get it right. Friends in high school and meeting again years later they come together beautifully. Some Danger and an Alpha with a protective streak will make you fall as well.

This short but satisfying adventure between Ron and Bobbi was great! I loved every moment of being on my toes waiting for the epic climax. This novella is definitely worth the read!
*Given an ARC in exchange for an honest review *
Received this book for an honest review. Bobbi is a widow with a son by a Marine. Ronnie is single raising his niece since his sister was killed in a car accident. He is Force Recon (marine) So he has to shuffle between baby sitters when he has to go on a mission. He and Bobbi have know each other since high school as friends. So this story was no big leap. A really good story about love and hope.
Protecting Bobbi was a great quick read! Ronnie and Bobbi find each other after 14 years apart. Neither know they both had feelings back in high school. Great military setting. Made me laugh, cry and angry all at once. Definetly a must read!
Bobbi has been a widow for a little while. Ron is the one she always wanted in high school. When he comes back into her life will they be able to make a relationship work with all the baggage they both have?
This was a great story. I enjoyed reading about this group of friends.
