Sparrowood Academy is part one of this new contemporary, gritty, dark high school reverse harem series by best-selling author, Angel Lawson.

Angel Lawson has the habit of creating characters that drag you into their world and appeal to a broad range of emotions. This book is no different. Eden has gone through some major changes in her life and with the disappearance of her sister, she lost the one person that she could always rely on. When her emotions get the better of her, she lashes out at the K-boys and this leads to an interesting proposition. I love seeing how Eden fights the feelings that she has for the K-Boys and they for her. But it is also interesting to see them come together to form a cohesive unit to find out exactly what the Brats are up to at Sparrowood Academy. Going to the academy, though difficult for them, offers an interesting opportunity for this group and I cannot wait to see what the next installment gives us.
Lawson has created an interesting world at Sparrowood. Eden and her K-Boys get basically blackmailed into attending Sparrowood to try to seek out the corruption. Eden is smart and I liked her strength and resilience. Hawk, Theo, Gray, and I’m hoping for Dorian are all great. I liked how they all worked together and protected each other. I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes and seeing the relationships develop between them 🙂
Okay because I did the audiobook version, all three books are in a set. I’m only reviewing book one, so spoilers are not revealed.
This is really a good book, a little more YA than I have done in a while. However, I truly enjoyed it. To be able to give high school age characters strength, grit, and sensual tension (a few times it may give you a bit more sensual detail) is truly a sign of a good writer. Eden and the K-boys are up against what a lot of young adults face, difficult choices at a young age leading to mistakes. Their choices lead to a threat of juvenile detention or an opportunity to change at an elite private school. But taking the second option means becoming narcs against fellow students. Eden’s personal strength makes her a fantastic FMC. The “K-boys” have such a rough take on life that they are their own version of a young gang.
I will say that in book 2 & book 3 the characters grow and mature in ways that take it out of just another YA dark story and into a more contemporary romance. The book does have some triggers, so be mindful of those. That said, I would recommend reading at the age of 16+.
4/ story ~ 2/ good sexual tension ~ 4/ good narrators.
Lawson is a new author to me. I have been in a mood for academy/college RH. If they tend to have assholes for the heroes, well, that fits my mood even better.
In this one, though the asshats are not the heroes, it hit the spot. I liked Eden and the boys. The story kept me hooked that I stayed up till midnight to finish this. I haven’t done that in a while. Plus right now I have a severe case of insomnia, so finishing a book helps better than tossing and turning.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for Eden and the guys in the next book and I am seriously curious about Trip and his role with Hope.
5 for Sparrowood Academy book 1. This is my first book from Angel Lawson and I couldn’t wait to dive into the next one . I feel
Like if I say to much I will give stuff away and I do not want to that. This is a dark high school bully romance that is Reverse Harem. Eden and her K-Boys are brought into Sparrowood to find out who is causing all the problems, however each of them have their own motives for being there. None of them trust each other but the relationship between them all does change. “Sometimes the things that bind you together are unexpected and painful.” If you love this genre of books then this is a book you will want to read.
What a great start to a new series! Gritty academy based storyline with a rather fiesty heroine, and four sexy tough men! Given a task to do which they have to work together, not something they have done before, it’s not an easy task. Full of drama and excitement this is a fantastic story which I could not put down
