Troy BrennanEvery Southie in Boston knows that name. The son of a dead mobster. The heart-throb with steel-blue eyes. “The Fixer” who can make or break you in this city. Oh, and my new husband. Sparrow Raynes That’s me. No one seemed to remember my name up until he barged into my life. But then he caged me. Kidnapped me. And killed every chance I had to run away from the place where we grew up. … every chance I had to run away from the place where we grew up.
Put simply, Troy Brennan clipped my wings.
I have dreams, big ones, but I doubt he’ll ever let me chase them. I have no idea why he decided to take me as his wife. But I do know this: pissing off this man will not do me any good. At all.
Sparrow is an Amazon international bestseller.

Love this!
Sparrow is the first book I’ve read from this author and based on this one it won’t be my last. As with any good book there will be things you love to hate and things you hate to love. Troy and Sparrow’s marriage was anything but loving; well at first. I enjoyed watching Sparrow show her strong side in situations and I’m glad that she never let Troy run all over her. She had a backbone which I was grateful for and she fought in the best ways for her. There were times I wanted Sparrow to physically hurt Troy but I knew it was wishful thinking because as much as I wanted to dislike Troy I couldn’t. He wasn’t a flower and candy type of man but he did show his soft side to Sparrow. There was never a dull moment in this book and it will have you on edge the whole time, you’ll be trying to put the pieces of this story together ahead of time and you might get close but never get it until the end. I’m very happy this book showed up under my recommendations. I enjoyed the ending of the book and yes you do get a HEA.
I was a little put off reading this story. I was nothing like I expected it to be from the blurb and others reviews. As I was reading it I was interested, but not overly satisfied. I thought it was a mob romance and dark. It was not really either of these things. I was disappointed… until the end. That ending; those last few chapters, turned my opinion around. I loved the ending and was glad I stuck it out and finished it. That last chapter is what gave it the fourth star for me. Overall, I thought it was a decent book, and I will check out more from this author; but I will most likely not read this story again.
I love this book. My favorite by LJ Shen.
Fantastic read. Loved it. Amazing.
I really liked this book and was fairly obsessed with it while reading. However, it hasn’t been a book that has stuck with me as time has passed since finishing.
The characters felt real and well-developed. The world of the story felt full and real, without being over described or bogging down the plot. I liked the heroine, and how she was able to ground the story in an otherwise potentially in-relatable, violence-filled world. I liked the hero and how he was somehow both menacing, but still very captivating and engaging.
One thing that is a bit hard for me to look past in books in general (as was the case in this book), is situations involving forced-relationships/captivity. Ultimately this book dealt with it well and overcame the troublesome side of that theme.
My first book by L.J. Shen and it certainly won’t be my last. Every now and then I take a break from my urban fantasy reading life to check in on the real world. This story takes you to Boston where a poor, tough, no-nonsense girl is forced into marriage by a big bad (hot af) wolf, but not just any wolf. The biggest and baddest in Boston. If you like characters with unapologetic personalities, deep and troubled pasts, dirty minds and ties to the Irish mob, then this is all you.
LJ Shen is such an amazing writer. I truly loved this book. I don’t want to give too much of the plot away, but understand this. LJ Shen knows how to write. So talented. Love her books.
