Greer Chapin doesn’t do crazy things in the name of love. Yet when no one steps up to run for mayor of Good Hope, love for her hometown takes over. That smart, sensible Greer would make an excellent mayor is a given—as is the fact that she’ll win, because she’s running unopposed. Or so she thought. When another candidate throws his hat in the ring at the eleventh hour, Greer’s world is turned … upside down.
Wyatt McConnell can’t believe how much his life has changed. Two months ago he was working long hours as a city manager in Chicago. Then he learned that a grandfather he never knew had died and named him as his sole heir. Faster than you can say ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ Wyatt moves to Good Hope and finds the home he’s always dreamed of. He might even have found the woman of his dreams too—if he can convince Greer not to hate him for running against her.
Falling for their opponent might be irrational, but Greer and Wyatt can’t resist each other. As election night nears, the reality of their situation is impossible to ignore: While there can only be one winner, both candidates are in danger of losing their hearts.

I can’t even begin to express how much I enjoyed Sparks Fly in Good Hope. This book really touched my heart. For years, I’ve told my husband that if we won the lottery, I would quit my job (high school English teacher) and open a communal home – kind of a halfway house – for young adults who have aged-out of the foster system. I, too, see a real need in this area, and I would like to create a home where “rent” equaled shared tasks that would keep the home running (cooking, cleaning, laundry) but which offered these young adults stability and autonomy along with guidance and, to some degree, supervision. I was so happy to read a book about a group that clearly also recognizes this area of need. I also identified a lot with Greer, her introspective type-A personality and her challenge of melding her discomfort with being social with her desire to help others. What a wonderful book! I always enjoy my time in Good Hope, and I love visiting with the characters of past books as their lives progress. I look forward to reading Ryder’s and Trinity’s story.

I loved this book – one of my favorites in the Good Hope series.
An enemies-to-lovers story, the book starts off with a bang, with Greer and Wyatt meeting for the first time and definitely not hitting it off. Circumstances continually throw them together, as happens in small towns like Good Hope. And for two who have bookend personalities, but a common goal of running for mayor to make Good Hope an even better place to live, they must learn to listen to each other.
Together they make the perfect match, as each learns to let go a bit, learn to listen to new ideas and ways of doing things, and eventually complimenting each other with skills and their views on the world. A lovely story of letting go of the past, and learning to embrace the future with someone they each never imagined ending up with.
I was given this an ARC of this book for and open and honest review.
I always enjoy returning to the fictional town of Good Hope! This time we were able to lose ourselves in watching sensible Greer and newcomer Wyatt not only develop a relationship but see them each grow as individuals and find their places in the community and with each other. I love catching up with beloved members of this town and seeing new characters being introduced. We’re given a glimpse into Trinity & Ryder’s story so it should be next….but I can’t wait till it’s Oaklee’s turn!

Greer was so prickly and serious. You would think people would continually be walking on eggshells all of the time. I could not honestly see how Wyatt and Greer were going to work out.
That was one of the great things about this book. Wyatt was written in such a way that his friendliness, calmness, patience, and acceptance of Greer slowly cracked her hard shell.
Both Wyatt and Greer had vulnerabilities that they managed to overcome not only by living and supporting each other, but also by having the love and support from the community of Good Hope.
This was another entry into the Good Hope series full of romance, love, loyalty, and friendship.

Greer is running for Mayor of Good Hope, Wyatt has also decided to run for Mayor. They get to know more about each other, when Greer’s sister in law Hadley, and brother David bring a new baby boy into the family and he drives her to their house to watch her niece, while they are at the hospital. The dog gets sprayed by a skunk, and Wyatt helps clean him up. They start spending time together, Gladys and her brood are pushing them together at every opportunity.
Greer runs the bank, so everyone goes to see her for loans. Wyatt inherits his grandfather’s cherry orchard. Greer was friends with Grandpa before he died.
This is the 10th book in the series, after the first book I wanted to move there, and I still do ! She introduces more characters, so that must mean the series is continuing !!

The Good Hope series is my absolute favorite series in this genre. This author creates a warmth that is comfortable, as well as distinctly different characters and unique plotlines for each couple. The time frame is leading up to the Fourth of July and all the normal summer activities in Good Hope. The character of Greer Chapin has been on the fringes of other stories. Cindy Kirk does a good job of making Greer a driven businesswoman while giving readers insight as to why Greer is so serious. Wyatt, on the other hand, lost his job when the mayor he worked for failed to get reelected. We also get insight into things that drive him, but he’s a much more relaxed type of person. As for the plotline, we are treated to venues and events we have read about in previous books, but it’s seen from these characters and given a unique twist fitting this story. Although this could be a stand-alone book and you don’t have to read the others in this series, it’s much more meaningful to read all the books in this series! Another winner in the Good Hope series. I really enjoyed watching the sparks start up until their love glowed. Though I knew that there would be an HEA, I really wasn’t sure how the election would turn out! Lots of love and emotion, and, of course, visits with many of our old Good Hope friends.

Sparks Fly in Good Hope is the tenth in the series but can also be read as a stand alone. This is a story of adversaries to lovers. The characters are down to earth, realistic, charming and lovable. Greer is an introvert, shy business woman that comes off as standoffish but loves her town. When a new mayor is needed, she runs unopposed until Wyatt decides to run. Wyatt grew up in foster care until he was adopted by a loving family but is still searching for a place to belong and that place seems to be Good Hope where he is the sole heir of a grandfather that he never knew. Greer and Wyatt’s relationship starts as confrontational but grows to friendship and love. This is a wonderfully written story that moves along easily and enjoyably.
I received an advance reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
