Kate Meader’s blazing Hot in Chicago firefighter series has “everything you want in a romance” (RT Book Reviews, Top Pick) The flames of desire burn out of control in this sexy third novel when ex-lovers unexpectedly reunite for a sizzling affair that will have the director yelling, “Quiet on the set ” Actor Molly Cade, America’s fallen sweetheart, finally has her shot at a Hollywood comeback … Hollywood comeback with a dramatic new role as a tough-as-nails firefighter that promises to propel her back to the big time and restore her self-respect.
Wyatt Fox, resident daredevil at Engine Co. 6, needs a low-key job to keep him busy while he recovers from his latest rescue stunt. Consulting on a local movie shoot should add just enough spark to his day. Especially when in struts Molly Cade: the woman who worked his heart over good, and then left him in the Windy City dust.
Their story is straight out of a script: irrepressible, spunky heroine meets taciturn, smoldering hero. But these two refuse to be typecast, and when the embers of an old love are stoked, someone is bound to get burned…more
The heat was spectacular….
If air could shimmer with desire, than that is what you would see between Molly and Wyatt. Add in sparky one-liners, snappy come-backs, deep emotion, love and family – well, you have this story, this series, in a reader’s delight nutshell. It really was spectacular…
Secrets. Wyatt had always been the aloof one in the Dempsey family but secrets he held close for years meant he was in a whole heap of trouble right now. His family was up in arms and Molly was right in the middle of it, as irresistible as ever. Molly was, in essence, starting over. Recovering from a ‘knock you sideways’ blow that hit personally and professionally, she was starting over. And she wasn’t sure Wyatt was in her future plans…
Hollywood superstar met (former) Marine/take charge firefighter. If you could bottle the chemistry between these two the fireworks would be gold as it spilled over the dialogue and these pages like molten lava. They made me laugh, they made me happy for them. They reminded me how love and tight family should be no matter the problem or the joy. This author made me feel every word of it, making it an amazing, high on the re-read shelf, read!
*I happily reviewed this story

Ms. Meader definitely saved the best for last!!! The prologue was on fire. Molly and Wyatt spent one glorious week together. No names. No strings. Fast forward five years and the rest of their story begins.
4+ Stars!
I read the second book in this series 4 years ago and while it still stands out in my mind, I think Sparking the Fire is my favorite. I finally got to know the quiet and brooding Wyatt and he was just lovely. The opening chapter was WOWZA and it really didn’t let up. Great heroine, as well. It was a hoot to see the whole family together throughout and not overdone. Not perfect, but rare is the book that is. I really enjoy Kate Meader and need to read more of her stories. She’s great with wit, banter, and poignancy, as well as bringing the sparks.
Sparking the Fire is my first read by Kate Meader, but it certainly will not be the last. It is everything a good romance should be: sexy, fun and sweet with likable characters who have a very strong, believable connection.
5 years ago Molly and Wyatt spent a sexy, deliciously hot week together and never gave each other their names. She went off to become a famous Hollywood actress and Wyatt went from being a Marine to being a firefighter. Wyatt followed her career but Molly never knew Wyatt’s name. Now Molly is trying to make a big comeback with a film set in Chicago and Wyatt is the consultant the CFD has sent over for the film. The fact that the film is about Wyatt’s sister complicates matters but Molly knows just how she’ll get Wyatt to help convince his sister: she’ll use her considerable feminine assets that she knows Wyatt appreciates.
What I love most about Sparking the Fire is Wyatt. He’s a sexy and broody alpha but he’s so much more than the stereotypical unfeeling jerk. He’s kind, sweet, even, loves and protects fiercely (from the sidelines and behind the scenes) and has vulnerabilities that draw both Molly and the reader to him. And Molly is almost as perfect as he is, she’s the kind of woman we women aspire to be: smart, kind, spunky and strong. I love their banter, it’s witty and delicious and oozes with sexual tension.
Now that I’ve become a fan of Kate Meader, and of this series, I will be going back to read the other 4 books.
Wyatt is a tad bit slow at times, “you want to have sex in the backseat of my ’69 Camaro?” Wyatt is a wild man in the sack, “that’s right , baby. Scratch me up. Make your mark. I wanna look at my body later and know who I belong to.” I loved this book, Wyatt was all broody and caveman.
4.5 Stars
I have loved every book Kate wrote for the Hot In Chicago series. You will fall in love with this family and their fierce loyalty to each other. Kate knows how to write stories that draw you in and make you want to never put the book down.
I’m so glad Wyatt got his own book. He was one I wanted more from as soon as I met him. Book 3 is a second chance romance story. Wyatt met Molly several years ago and they cross paths again when she comes back to Chicago to shoot a movie. They have some smoking hot chemistry and are the perfect match for each other and give each other the much needed balance in their life.
Kate, I’m going to miss your Dempsey boys (and girls). I loved this series and even though the second book is still my favorite, this one went out on a high note. I’m so glad I found these books.
