All she wants is forgiveness, and all he wants is revenge . . .From the New York Times Bestselling Author Penny ReidOne week. Private cabin. Famous physicist. Still an unrepentant slacker (but now also very, very angry). What’s the worst that could happen? Mona’s meticulously planned allotment of relaxation is thrown into chaos by the unscheduled appearance of her older brother’s band of friends, … unscheduled appearance of her older brother’s band of friends, including the one person she’d hoped to never face again. Abram still makes her feel entirely too much, which is one of the reasons she disappeared after their one week together. But now, trapped on a mountain of snow and things unspoken, Mona will have to find a way to coexist with Abram, chaos and all.

Space was everything I needed in book two of this trilogy. A getaway, a snowstorm, an unexpected run in that sets off all the feelings…
Mona was still her straightforward and blunt self. Even with more life experience, she was still a awkward in social situations. And for all the success Abraham had found, his heart still beat for the woman who hurt him the most. I absolutely LOVED getting a hearty dose of Abrham’s POV.
So smart. So angsty. The pain for both Mona and Abrham was there. The hurt and anger and resentment was well deserved. And as much as he wanted answers, he also didn’t. Because they could break him all over again. My heart went out to Mona. She tried so hard to do the right thing but it backfired. And it cost her. The hurt from before was back and this time she was going to speak her truth.
The anticipation and longing from both sides was palpable. Heck, it made my chest ache. And just when Abrham and Mona had made some headway with everything from the past and the possibility of more, the reality of their lives came flooding back in. Gah! Penny Reid!!! These two are so addicting! I am thirsty for the conclusion of this wonderfully original love story.
5 “I will burst for sure waiting for the ending” Stars
I think I’ve said this before, but every book I read of Ms. Reid’s just cements my belief that she is a freaking genius. I read Space in more or less one sitting and once I started it, I had to force myself to put it down.
Now, a warning to those readers who cry (like me), if you don’t want to show puffy eyes to the outside world, you better have a box of Kleenex and a few hours to recuperate after finishing. Man! This book slew me. It was a freaking roller coaster of feelings with ups and downs, upside flips that had my tummy fluttering and free falls that had me clenching my fists and threatening bodily harm to my kindle.
Space takes place two and a half years after that fated week when Mona’s entire existence was flipped on its axis after she met Abram. Both changed after the experience, Mona is finally able to present herself to him as well… herself instead of pretending to be Lisa. Stuck in the same house for a whole week, the feelings that were put in Motion (see what I did there? Ha!) after their time together will be put to the test.
I loved this book as hard as I completely hated some things that happened. I was tempted to take a picture of all the tissues I went through as a visual aid to how involved with the story and connected to the characters I was… but then thought it might be kinda gross…
In Space, with the PoV of the story shifting from him to Mona, we finally get to be in Abram’s head, which made this absolute perfection. Abram is the sweetest, most tender sexy badass musician I’ve ever read about and he had me melting into a puddle of goo even when I wanted to hate him for being a jerk (though it was totally warranted). His insights about Mona along with her subsequent revelations broke my heart time and again, with Abram swooping in to sooth the hurt away. Really, these two together were sweet, hot, adorkable and cute. Sometimes all four at the same time.
I completely and utterly LOVED EVERY FREAKING THING ABOUT THIS BOOK, except the fact that it’s the second part in a trilogy. Now I have to wait another WHOLE FREAKING MONTH before getting the highly anticipated end to this epic love story. Seriously, what the hell was I thinking? *insert uber tantrum gif here* I don’t care if you’re waiting for all the parts of this story to be out before reading it or you’re just masochistic like me and reading it as it comes out I can 100% guarantee this is a story you don’t want to miss.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
*3 Stars*
I voluntarily read an early copy of this title.
Space continues on with the story of Mona and Abram, and you will need to have read Motion before starting this one.
Once again I didn’t feel myself connecting a huge amount with the characters, although I did really want them to get their acts together and just talk to each other. The genius that she is, Mona struggles with social interaction a little bit, and often is referred to as cold and unfeeling. But boy does she feel. She doesn’t show it the same way the rest of us might.
The secondary characters in this one are fairly likeable, apart from particular parts with Mona’s brother Leo. I really did not like his attitude in one particular section towards the end of the book.
I would like to see how this story plays out in the next installment of this series, Time, and I do hope that we get some answers as to everyone’s feelings and interactions a little more.
SPACE is book two in Penny Reid’s Law of Physics trilogy.
Sadly, I struggled to connect with this instalment for three core, interconnected reasons.
This book begins within the same timeframe of MOTION (book one) before quickly jumping two and a half years into the future. Mona, and in particular Abram go through some significant life events. The jump in time means we get told plenty but experience little. Yes, the ol’ telling instead of showing chestnut. It left me feeling removed from the characters and their story.
Next, I still don’t feel like I know either of the main characters very well. The huge time jump does not help. I was hoping we would get to know Abram a lot more in this book and we did to some extent, but it’s still very much Mona and her point of view that’s front and centre; the same as it was in MOTION. Further, changes to their character at times left me feeling these were not the same people we met in MOTION.
Thirdly, in my review of MOTION I said I felt the relationship was in its infancy. To read that Mona and Abram fell in love with each other in that book just doesn’t ring true to me. Yes, there was chemistry and attraction and a desire to learn more about one another. But love? Eh. I’m not convinced.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for me. There were several enlightening conversations between Abram and Mona that were fantastic but they were few and far between.
It was great to see Kaitlyn and Martin from the Elements of Chemistry series make an appearance; I loved catching up with them. Mona’s best friend Allyn is a hoot, and she provided some much needed humour throughout the book.
All the physics references once again went over my head but I did learn about snoga pants. Who knew such a thing existed? I want a pair even though I have no need for them.
I loved so much that even though this one started up quite a bit after the last book ended, we got filled in on things that happened that made how Abram and Mona would react to each other have even more of the drama than would be expected. We get to see how Mona’s little escapade to help her sister almost made it completely without being noticed. But Abram was smarter, and his being able to figure it out led to even more drama than I was expecting. But besides the angst and drama, there was the usual hilariousness that I love in all books by this author, at least those that I’ve read so far. Let’s say that drunk Mona is definitely so much fun! The perfect way to make up for when Abram burned the letter. And then there was her brother, who at one point I wanted to punch for how he added even more unnecessary drama to them trying to figure out where they could go from where they were, friends or more.
As with the other one in this series, as soon as I picked it up, all I could think was how much I wished it was summer time and I could stay up all night to read it in one sitting, or lying in bed as it may be in this case. Also again as with the first one, it was a cliffhanger, and now I cannot WAIT for the next book!
Mona.
Yes? I shivered. The way he said my name, it was the auditory equivalent to being stroked.
Will you be brave with me?
That ending totally caught me by surprise, I thought there would be more reading, more story, more Abram and Mona … MORE. I was at 98%, and then, BAM! it ended. I was reading and then turned the page to “ABOUT THE AUTHOR”. With MOTION, the ending didn’t surprise me, I had sensed it was coming, but with SPACE, I was totally caught off guard.
SPACE spans two 1/2 years in the life of Abram and Mona, focusing more on the present than the past.
One week.
Private cabin.
Famous physicist.
Still an unrepentant slacker.
What’s the worst that could happen?
Well, everything and nothing.
Needing a break from the loudness of life, Mona and her friend Allyn, travel to Mona’s parent’s private cabin, hoping for silence, snow and resting. However, when Mona arrives, she sees her brother Leo has invited friends, many, many friends, to stay the same weekend she is. But it is the presence of Abram, that causes her emotions to swirl in a raging storm.
Abram an air of power and strength that I found both flustering—because, holy hot specimen of the male species, Batman—and alarming.
The two haven’t seen each other since they laid together on that couch in Chicago, and now, in front of him, is the girl who caused his world to crash around him. The one who lied to and deceived him. The one who stole his heart and ruined him for anyone else. Abram was filled with so much rage and heartache at the sight of Mona. All the emotions and thoughts he’d so carefully tried to suppress for two 1/2 years came barging to the surface. And while he wanted answers, he was also afraid of them, and while he wanted to hurt her the way she’d hurt him, he also wanted to touch her, to kiss her and to hold her.
So beautiful.
She really was. She was stunning. I hated that she was still so beautiful to me.
Abram confronts Mona about what happened all those years ago, and even though he got answers, he’s not sure he believes them. It isn’t until she finally bares her soul to him that he realizes who she truly is and he wants more. More of what he had in Chicago. More time with Mona. He wants the future.
I need someone to listen to my heart. His face inched closer. And it only wants to beat for you.
In all relationships, trust is a two-way street. She’s been self-reliant for so many years, putting her trust in anyone, especially someone who could irrevocably hurt her is terrifying. Relying on the only relationship she’s known as guidance — her parent’s — Mona questions the reality of the two of them having anything other than these few days together.
While I anticipated this book ruining me, fortunately, Reid took pity on my heart and she only crushed half of it. You can definitely feel the tension building through this book ready for the explosive finale, TIME.
I don’t want anyone to give me something I don’t deserve. I want to feel like I’ve earned what I have, then I know it’s mine.
I was provided a review copy by the author, this did not influence my opinion of the book nor my review.
Space was Penny Reid GOLD!! OMG! After reading Motion I knew I was in love with Abram but after Space?! I AM OBSESSED with him!! I devoured this story as fast as I could and couldn’t read it fast enough! Now I am slowly dying for Time and the conclusion to Mona and Abram’s story!!
After the shocking ending to Motion, Mona is still faced with her feelings for Abram after their week together. But when they are now stuck together in a cabin and snowed in, they are forced to address the truth of what happened and the consequences of her actions.
OMG. How vague was that^? But there is a reason – I one thousand percent feel that you need to go into this book spoiler free and just submerge yourself in the brilliance that is Penny Reid’s mind and wit. She is in fact the Queen of Intelligent Romance and is one of a lonely few I can award that title to. I absolutely loved Abram and Mona and how drawn they still were to one another. Their feelings were so powerful and I found myself laughing hysterically one minute and then having to blot my eyes with my sleeve the next. This story was overwhelmingly raw, funny, beautiful and just so perfect. I can’t wait for more! Bravo! 5 “Do Not Burn” stars! ~Ratula
The title of book two, Space, lends itself nicely to a variety of hypotheses when it comes to where Penny Reid plans to take her hero and heroine in the second part of their story, and while I’ll admit, I didn’t quite anticipate the non-linear path Mona and Abram took to be around each other again after the implosion of their would-be chemistry at the end of Motion, my theory that it would not be easy for either one of them to move forward or accept what happened the short time they spent together was proven correct, even if it wasn’t entirely resolved.
The idea of space, when it comes to both Mona and Abram, is an interesting one…for the longest time, Mona has thrived without being close to anyone, needed that distance, not only due to her issues with touching but also because even if she can articulate every concept in the world of science, when it comes to talking about herself, especially anything that’s personal, she shuts down or takes too scientific of an approach, leaving those around her more confused than enlightened.
I don’t know if I’ve ever been more frustrated with two characters for their lack of communication than I was when I was reading part two of Mona and Abram’s story. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why Abram is beyond furious with Mona, and I can’t blame Abram for both loving and hating her, but what I do take issue with is the fact that he reacted without allowing Mona to speak…without realizing how difficult it is for her to put her feelings out there…without taking two seconds to see things from her point of view, especially since he feels so strongly and deeply for her even though they had only spent 6 days together.
The fact that Mona feels like she has to earn everything she gets stems from her family’s lack of putting her first and making her feel unloved and isolated. Her entire family seems incredibly selfish and don’t even get me started on Leo – he seriously has a warped sense of things and he needs someone to straighten his ass out! And I gladly offer my services because man did I want to nut punch him for his ridiculous comments and reasoning.
This is definitely a unique love story because even though book two is about two years from the end of book one, the total time that Abram and Mona have spent together still doesn’t add up to a complete week, not in sense that they were with each other for the entire time, and I’m sure that, that fact plays into the rather tense and cold interactions these two have throughout the course of the story.
With Time being the end of Mona and Abram’s story, I, once again, have several theories with where their journey will take them, not only because of how things ended in Space, but because, it’s something that both of them are going to need in order to work out all of the feelings they’ve kept stored away, trusting one another to not put any further space between them and hoping that there would come a time where the universe would align and they could be together. And I most certainly hope that’s the case!
4.5 Poison Apples
Penny!!!! I thought we were friends! You’re killing me smalls! I love Abram. That is all. This series makes my insides twist up in knots. I need more..more!!
4.25-4.5 stars. Gah! This book was so good! Space is the second book in the Laws of Physics trilogy and the continuation of Mona and Abram’s story. I don’t want to give away too much of the story, especially if you haven’t read book one, Motion. But I can say that Space takes place two and a half years later. Some very big secrets are revealed, amends are made and emotions are high. We do get some resolution and clarity of Mona and Abram’s relationship, but it is obvious there will be more to come in book three.
I could not put this book down. I started it before bed, planning to read for a few minutes, but ended up reading it all. It was so very sweet and romantic, giving me all the feels. Space is right up there with Beauty and the Mustache, my favorite Penny Reid book. I just loved it. There is no scary cliffhanger this time. I would have been okay with the series ending where Space ended, but I’m still excited for more from Abram and Mona. I loved them both so much and loved the way they loved each other. I really enjoyed seeing how their relationship progressed after what happened in Motion. There is some angst, but it was necessary, not gratuitous. This was an amazing second installment to the trilogy. I enjoyed it even more than book one.
Space is Penny Reid at her very best! I adored Mona and Abram’s story continuation. I can’t wait for the final book in the trilogy!

What’s the worst that could happen?
Space is book two in the Laws of Physics. It can not be read as a standalone, you must read Motion. I liked the first one but this one I loved. Motion ended with a mild heart string pulling ending. After Motion, I couldn’t wait to read this one. In the prologue of Space we get what happened where Motion ended and then it jumps two and half years later. Mona has been holding on to the secret that she played her sister all this time while still loving Abram. They didn’t leave on a good note and their paths cross again. I was hoping for a sweet reunion but these two have a lot to work through. At first Abram is a little colder to Mona then I had excepted but as the week goes by they start to work through things and I was so rooting for them. For them I didn’t want the week to end. This one ends with a mild cliffhanger that has me waiting to see how Mona and Abram’s story ends.
Nice to read how Mona is finally able to tell Abram about her deception. Looking forward to book 3, to see how their relationship pans out.
I want to give this book 10 stars. I doubt I’m going to read anything as good as this book for a long time, and I can say, without doubt, that for me, this is the best book Penny Reid has written.
Space is the second installment in the Laws of Physics trilogy. The first book was Motion, and there we met Mona and Abram. Abram is a musician, friend of Mona’s brother, and he’s babysitting their family mansion and Lisa, Mona’s twin sister and troublemaker, until her parents return from a trip. But Lisa convinced Mona (there may or may not be some emotional blackmailing involved) to take her place, so their parents would not find she had been arrested. So, Mona ends up leaving her life to spend a week at her home, faking being Lisa who, despite being twins, is her exact opposite. During that week, Abram creates a deep connection with Mona (though he believes her to be Lisa), but Lisa’s sudden return provokes Mona’s immediate departure, leaving the real Lisa in her place.
In Space, two years have passed since Mona left the house, still carrying with her the guilt of what had happened. Needing some time alone, she brings her best friend Allyin to a family mansion/lodge in Aspen, hoping to be snowed-in for a few days of much needed calm and relaxation. But soon it turns into chaos when she finds there her brother Leo with a huge group of friends, among which is Abram. From there Penny Reid wrote for them a path of feelings, hope, fear, anger, hurt, and so much angst that my poor angst-loving heart was clapping all along.
This book is beautiful, painful, sometimes funny, always smart, and the main characters are wonderful, and perfect in their imperfections. I love Abram. I love his poetry. I love his anger. I love that he can’t stay mad. I hate that he burnt that letter and she didn’t tell him how important it was to her. I want to inhale him. I want him to keep singing even if it breaks my heart when he does so. I love that he’s transparent. I love how Kaitlyn understands and teases him. Mona is amazing. I wish she’d have brought the white bikini. I love Lisa Kleypas. I love excellent boiled potatoes. I love their pain. I love their love.
If you like angst, and don’t mind a mild cliffhanger until the third and last book is released in a month’s time, please read this story. Space goes directly to my pile of favourites, and this is one I plan to re-read more than would probably be healthy for me.
PENNY!!! You infuriating and brilliant woman! Once again, I’m a mess. This book has left me a complete mess! I love it so much. So much pain, so much passion, and so much MORE. The intensity of it all was almost too much at times. Reid has a way of transporting you right into the story with her writing, the characters she has created, and the feels she elicits. It was consuming and I loved every minute.
Talk about messing with my emotions!! Gah! This book has me all kinds of discombobulated. In the best possible way.
First off – if I thought book one ended on a cliffhanger I was wrong. This cliffhanger makes that one look like a gentle step off a ledge. This one had me yelling at my IPad and crazily flipping the pages for more…. my heart
Abram and Mona are back in each other’s orbit and all the old feelings are back. Along with new ones. I LOLd, I got teary, I got angry & my heart also broke a little in this one… all the happy sighs for how beautifully this is written.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again – Penny Reid could write a shopping list & I would enjoy it! Smart, funny & honest. Definitely recommend.
“ , . , , .”
As much as I adored Motion (book one), I absolutely LOVED , book two in the incredible series by Penny Reid. It was still chock-full of that slow-burn emotional angst, but it packed a SWOONY punch that I wasn’t expecting yet. These two characters have my heart and I just can’t wait to find out how their story ends. I won’t lie, this is unlike anything you have ever read before and it’s pure torture…but it’s a beautiful and moving torture that I can definitely live with, hell…I’m starting to crave more of it. Damn you, Penny Reid! What have you done to me?!

Space is book 2 in Laws of Physics series by Penny Reid. In this emotionally charged romance , this book picks up 2 years after where book 1 left off. I hated that it was awhile before the story in book 2 starts up. Mona and Abram went on with their lives after the events in book 1- Abram did go alittle nuts before getting himself back together and getting with a rock band and becoming famous. The songs he writes are huge chart toppers and are based are one person – Mona. Mona, in the meantime, has been going thru the motions of living her daily life. She misses Abram desperately and really finds peace when she is at her parents’ cabin in Aspen. She tries to get there as much as she can and on this trip when she shows up, who happens to be there but the true love of her heart and soul.
Abram was totally hateful and nasty. He did and said things that were very hard to stomach. His rage was hard to read thru. I get that Mona’s betrayal hurt Abram so deeply that in so much that in the effects of the devastation, he was on a steep downward spiral and he now doesn’t know how to forgive her.
There was many twists and turns in this emotional rollercoaster ride of a romance that ends in a huge cliffhanger.
Will Abram and Mona get their HEA? Does their relationship truly have a chance? Get the tissues ready!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
This book was wonderful. I love Mona and Abram.
And I can’t wait for book 3.
I definitely recommend this book, this author, and this series.
4.5 Stars
Please note this review contains spoilers from Motion, book 1.
Space is book 2 in the Laws of Physics trilogy, and I’m already impatiently waiting for the conclusion.
With an epilogue that picks up right where Motion left off, Space then jumps ahead 2 and a half years. In all this time Mona hasn’t been able to get her time with Abram out of her head or her heart. She’s convinced herself it’s just the guilt that’s taken over, that it isn’t possible to love someone she only spent a short time with and hasn’t seen for years. Her upcoming trip to her parent’s cabin is exactly what she needs, and she can’t wait to escape and enjoy the peace & quiet.
It didn’t take Abram long to figure out the truth, and his heartache sent him on a downward spiral. Now he’s gotten his life back on track, but still harbors the hurt and resentment towards Mona. When his friend convinces him to take an impromptu trip to a cabin in Aspen he’s not interested until he finds out Mona will be there and he can finally get his revenge.
Mona & Abram are magnetic, neither expecting the sparks to still be there or the invisible pull that refuses to dissipate. Being in the same house brings back all of their feelings – love, lust, guilt, hatred – and there’s no escaping the fireworks when the inevitable confrontation finally happens.
“Love isn’t supposed to be conflicting, it’s about allowing the space for the other to fly.”
While Motion was quirky and fun, Space is emotionally charged and full of angst. The tension and chemistry between these characters are palpable, and I can’t wait for more of them! These books are seriously addicting, and the conclusion is guaranteed to be epic!
