Or will it be a failure to launch?

I loved this book and was thrilled to see it is part of a series. The characters were funny, sexy, snarky and vulnerable. The story was well developed and fully engaged my attention until the end.
Jackie Darling Lee is a super intelligent, gorgeous, somewhat naive nerd who works for NASA. Her friend Jules, an astronaut, gently pushes her into being more social. Jackie finds herself in the local country & western bar people watching. Flynn West is a wealthy auto mechanic at the bar to help his little sister Rose celebrate her 21at birthday.Rose’s friends leave her and Trish, the bartender, and Jackie help her get home safely. Rose hits Jackie’scar and sends her to Flynn’s garage to get it fixed. They are wildly attracted to each other and eventually hook up. They each have dating baggage they need to overcome, but get their HEA in the end.

Jackie is a certified genius working Mission Control at NASA when she meets Rose and her hot brother, Flynn. The attraction is instant but Jackie has no social skills because her job is her life. She has one friend who occasionally blackmails Jackie into social activity, which how she met Rose and Flynn. Even if she wasn’t shy and self-conscious, she still wouldn’t make a move because she learned long ago that men aren’t to be trusted. There was one guy she’d ever shared her heart with and he betrayed her in the worst possible way, so she’s never going through that again.
Flynn wants Jackie bad, but the beautiful engineer doesn’t know what to make of the sexy mechanic. Any time he jokes, she thinks he’s making fun of her and pulls away from him. He hasn’t felt this way about a women in, well ever that he can recall but he’s determined to make Jackie see that she means the world to him. There’s a great supporting cast and Jackie’s new friends, Rose and Trish, are the best girl gang you could want. This is the first in a series, so I can’t wait to read their stories. This is sweet, steamy and fun. This was my first book by the author, but I’ll definitely be reading more.
I started reading this book on a complete whim. I saw the cover and the title, and couldn’t stop giggling for about three minutes… So then, naturally, I had to read the description… And then I had to read the first few chapters… you know, for science.
And then I finished reading the book the next morning. I. Freaking. Loved it!
I loved the characters, I loved the witty banter. It made my little space nerd heart so very happy!
It is DEFINITELY worth the read.
The two of them are so great together. He’s so tender, sweet, and sexy. She’s smart, shy, and entertaining. Together they are so dreamy. Great romantic love story.
A young genius Dr. who works at Nasa, Jackie Darling is a poster pic for nerd. Her hearts desire is
to be an astronaut. Jackie’s friend Jules an astronaut currently in the I S S calls her and dares
her to go on a date. The fun begins in the country western bar. where she sips coke looking for
a man. Instead Jackie and the barmaid become close friends. This is one of the best books I have
listened to this year. The back and forth between Jackie and Flynn is hilarious. A light fun read
that gives some insight into Nasa and what is takes to get to the top. Flynn the alpha has his
own demons. Despite coming from a wealthy family he opens his own car restoration shop.
What makes these two main characters story so interesting is that neither one has anything in
common but together the make a whole. The moral opposites do attract.
Outstanding RomCom & Narration A Heartfelt Delight!
Space Junk: Houston, We Have a Hottie 8
Space Series, Book 1
By: Sara L Hudson
Narrated by: Samantha Brentmoor, Lee Samuels
I love, love, loved this audiobook, it is a delightful and fun story, one that captivated me from start to end. This is my first book written by Sara L. Hudson and I am thrilled to say I have added a new favorite author to my list. I enjoyed her writing style, the story and characters she created are interesting and original, I found them likable or rather easy to fall in love with and to relate to. I adored both lead characters, Jackie Darling Lee has a brilliant mind, a PHD and an innocence about her making her seem a bit naive but I’d say more from lack of experience due to her head buried in books or gazing into space. I will say she certainly lives up to her middle name, she is a true darling. Flynn West, a bit of a cynic when it comes to woman, but he has his reasons. He did notice Jackie while out for his sister, Rose’s birthday but his distaste of her sisters friends had him out the door. Then fate brought her into his life, when she kindly drives Rose home. He jumps to conclusions and misjudges her at first but he does lighten up a bit. He is taken by her but still has insecurities and afraid to do so he doesn’t reveal who he really is. I loved these two together, they were perfect for each other, but will his own issues and insecurities get in his way. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is brilliantly plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of fun times, drama, a touch of angst, some heartfelt moments and some loving romance. Sara L. Hudson, thank you for this awesome story, I hope the rest of the series comes to Audible soon.
I listened to the Audible edition, Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They were great with landing the humor too. They are entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this awesome listen
All Jackie wants to do is love her dream…become an astronaut. And become socially acceptable. Being a nerd makes the former easier than the latter. Until she meets Flynn. Not off to a good start, he thinks she’s one of his sister’s irresponsible friends. She didn’t even know Rose before tonight. She thinks Rose is Flynns girlfriend. Once all that is straightened out, Flynn thinks Jackies intelligence is as sexy as her legs and glasses. Until her dream comes true and she has to make a choice between Flynn & becoming an astronaut

Jackie is a genius engineer working for NASA when her friend Jules challenges her to live life a little more boldly. One night out changes her social life when she meets Rose, Trish and Flynn all on the same night. Flynn manages to offend Jackie, Rose works to unite Jackie and Flynn and Trish is their adorable, supportive new friend. I laughed and cried a little as all characters worked through their angst to find out how they all fit together.
I loved this story. There were lots of feels. The interactions between the characters were awesome.
Dr. Jackie Darling Lee works as a NASA engineer and is a genius about many things. She loves the cowboy romances she reads. Jackie’s friend and co-worker Jules wants her to get out and have fun so she blackmails Jackie into going out to Big Texas Saloon. While at the bar, she makes friends with her waitress Trish and explains Operation Social Life. Jackie then meets Rose on her birthday and since Rose is drunk, Jackie takes her home. She figures that this is a good start to the operation.
Flynn West is a mechanic that owns his own business in Houston. Muscle car restorations are his specialty. Not wanting to get involved with gold-diggers, he left his family’s rich life behind and has taken women off his priority list. He isn’t prepared for the blonde with thick, black-framed glasses from the bar where his sister Rose was celebrating her 21st birthday, to be dragging his drunk little sister into his house. At first, they get along like oil and water but suddenly there is combustion.
There is drama/angst in this story, but it makes things interesting and adds another level to their relationship. Jackie and her insatiable curiosity cracked me up when she interacted with other people. Trish, Rose, and Jules were awesome friends. I loved their happy ever after. This was so good, I’m already re-reading it! I definitely recommend reading this book.

Great book, highly recommended for reading. Jackie is a sweetheart after your heart with her being shy and trying to make her new goals complete. Flynn makes you want a cowboy for yourself. This book is entertaining and gives you some laughs when friends get together. The author didn’t disappoint me with this one, can’t wait to read the next one.

I absolutely love, love, love this book. At the first chapter Sara had me hooked. Space Junk is the first book in her Space series and what a great read. Jackie and Flynn are both enjoyable characters along with all of side characters that offers witty banter, laugh out loud moments, friends, insecurity, family and love. Their attraction was strong and their chemistry generated lots of sparks. The storyline was engaging and fun but offers a solid amount of drama, action and emotional turmoil as this couples relationship evolves into more than they ever imagined. I am now a huge fan of this author and highly recommend this book.

For those of you who like Big Words, you will get plenty in this book.. The book was a masterpiece to read, she may be a nerd but she has a loving heart and will give it to the right man.
He, on the other hand has been hurt one too many times and is guarding his heart, but this brainiac just does something to him and he is willing to give love a try.
There may be issues that may stop them from having their happy ever after, but you will have to read this book to find out! Enjoyable book…

This story was so much fun. It also continues my streak of emotional roller-coaster reads for the weekend. Because as much as I laughed at the sarcasm and innuendo that fill this book, my heart almost broke for the family and previous relationship drama this pair is dealing is dealing with. I could fully empathize with Jackie’s social anxiety and I loved that she nearly always embraced her “nerd girl” reputation with pride. It hurt my heart to know what Flynn had gone through to bring him to this point in his life, but I was right there with his sister calling him names when he messed up. This series taps into so many of the things I love best: a proudly geeky heroine, an alpha yet vulnerable hero, and more snark and sarcasm than you can shake a stick at.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I thought that Jackie and Flynn’s story was smart, funny, steamy and swoon worthy. The book is well written and so easy to get swept up in. Flynn and Jackie are incredibly lovable characters that will have you desperately wishing you knew the in real life and rooting for them every steep of the way. Such a wonderful read! I can’t wait for book two. Of my own accord I am posting a sincere review.
I have to say I absolutely adored this book. Jackie is a genius, who might get tongue tied around hot men, but is an absolute sweetheart. She doesn’t see race, colour or discriminate against those who have spent time in jail. She loves to learn and hoo boy she loves herself a cowboy 🙂
Flynn, is a mechanic as well as very wealthy. He has been burnt so is aware of people’s ulterior motives. Beautiful, clueless Jackie throws him for a loop.
I loved reading their journey. I laughed, got angry, and devoured each page!
Talk about surprises! So, I’m scrolling through my FB feed and visiting the page of a fav author seeing what she’s got going on. Typical FB crawl. So, she’s posted this book and challenges us to read it, well, I’m a girl up for a good challenge, so it’s on. Much to my delight, I’ve found a jewel of an author; Sara L. Hudson has written a hilarious and charming new series.
In Space Junk, we meet one of those heroines who you can’t help but adore. She’s cute, a genius, awkward, disarmingly kind, and utterly unaware of her effect on people. Plus, her name is boss, Jackie Darling Lee, who is enamored with all things about the Space Race of the early 1960s and a burning desire to be an astronaut. A little blackmail, a Texas bar, and her kind heart lead her to meet two new friends, Trish and Rose. Rose leads Jackie to Flynn (our hero), and then the fun commences. Along the way, we meet a hilarious cast of characters whose oneliners and antics keep the pace of novel bouncing along. Add in a couple of near-disasters with the International Space Station (our heroine saves the day as it should be), and we have blast-off on hugely satisfying read.
Space Junk is the first novel I have read by this author and holy smokes; I’m ready to read more of her stories. Unfortunately, I’ve got a wait until the next book in this series releases. So, get your geek on, grab your history of NASA, some muscle car knowledge, and jump on board for a cool space journey!
Oh sweet Neptune! What an entertaining read! This book is fun, smart and heartwarming. Jackie and Flynn will capture your heart immediately. This book was one I didn’t want to put down (and when I did, I wanted to be reading!)
Flynn and Jackie quickly stole my heart. The secondary characters are just as lovable and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
Sara L Hudson, you have found a fan in me
Well dang if this wasn’t a purely humorous romance with wonderful characters and steamy times. I loved it! I have never read this author before but this book blurb really called to me. I wanted a sweet (steamy) romance that had humor and I certainly got that.
The characters are real and fun, smart and sweet. I also really enjoyed that this was a romance with STEM at it’s core; it’s fun to read about characters doing what they love, not what they are formed to do. The NASA aspect really added a great element to the story that really balanced well with the romance. I loved this story so much!! I will be reading more from this author, and soon!!
I highly recommend for a lighter fun read. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review, 4.25 stars.
Gather ‘round and lean in close, book peeps, because I’m about to let you in on the best kept secret in romance today. That secret is this new astronaut trope series penned by a very talented rising star, Sara Hudson. Sure, there’s the anticipated heat and heart we all love in our romance reading, but the behind-the-scenes peek into the NASA space program is fascinating and in a class by itself, effortlessly elevating this book head and shoulders above the average romcom.
Let me tell you about Dr. Jackie Darling Lee. Ahhhhhh, Jackie!! Hands down, she’s my new favorite heroine. I simultaneously wanted to wrap her up to keep her and her heart safe while blasting her on national television in a 24/7 loop to tell the world how amazing she is! As a NASA flight controller, she’s incredibly brilliant, adorably awkward, and very inexperienced in social relationships outside of her work peers. And funny! This girl kept me in stitches throughout the book, but she also has a sweet innocence about her that makes it impossible not to love her.
Now Flynn, bless his heart. Since he’s finally grown up from his party days, it’s apparent how big this hunky mechanic and classic car restorer’s heart is, but he’s so afraid of repeating past mistakes that fear takes over and he measures Jackie against the stereotypical women from his past. But he also has redeeming qualities out the wazoo, so I can forgive his moment of caveman possession. Flynn is so perfect for Jackie, and together they’re too precious for words. He sees her beauty, both inside and out, and he loves her amazing brain best of all. And her glasses, too, because those are really hot and rev his engine.
Truly, I couldn’t get enough of these characters. I wish this were a box set and that all the characters’ stories were already published so I could read them all straight through. Each of the characters are so well done, so lively, authentic and relatable, that I felt like I was experiencing every scene alongside them. I can’t wait for the next book in this series! First, I have a feeling it’s going to be epic, and second, I’m nowhere near ready to turn loose of all these phenomenal characters. Go ahead and hit the 1-Click, because you definitely don’t want to miss this heartfelt, steamy, hilarious, fantastic read!
This is a fun and entertaining romantic comedy with strong , well developed characters in Jackie and Flynn. The author does a great job developing the story and pulls you in with all the humor as well as the romance and hot chemistry. It’s well written with detailed scenes , moves at a steady pace and is told in the dual POV , showing each of their thoughts and emotions. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
