There is no Quinn without Que. Her only family murdered, the males of her species governing the prison designed to contain her, Sigil mourns. Que had been her world, but it is Sovereign who enters her body day and night. No man has loved a woman more, and no woman has hated a man with such passion. She cannot help it. Designed to be the perfect slave soldier, programmed to exterminate her own … programmed to exterminate her own kind, Sigil wants nothing more than to butcher those who would save her.
Sovereign’s many Brothers lavish her with attention, taking turns practicing seduction to woo the only female who might propagate their species. No matter twisting limbs or thrusting bodies, no matter opulent gifts and distraction, Sigil sees what they seek to hide.
There is a dangerous secret Sovereign and his Brothers cannot conceal forever, though they are willing to risk the empire, their lives, and even her sanity trying. Is that not the definition of love?
Publisher’s Note: The second installment in Addison Cain’s provocative and raw Irdesi Empire series is a dark tale with explicit sexual themes and complete power exchange. Some scenes are written to be disturbing. If such material offends you, please do not purchase.

There is no Quinn without Que. You really need to read the first in the series to get a proper grasp of this book.
This is such an emotionally twisted story. All the characters are so complex each with a magnitude of good and bad traits that have you wondering just who is the good guys or if there are really any redeemable qualities to any of them. Love, obsession, compulsion or survival any and all of these things could describe the relationship between Sigil and her brothers. The author has done an amazing job of creating a very detailed world and a fascinating story were violence rules even when it is in the name of love. Absolutely loved the story and the only reason it got 4 stars is the cannibalism. I know it is mentioned in book one but in the past tense and in the name of survival so I felt it made our heroine just a little too psycho when she is no longer a child and food is readily available.
Book 2 in the Irdesi Empire series, and I must say reading this it left me a little frustrated!! Hopefully book 3 will sort that out though.
Sigil in this one seems to have lost herself completely, she’s grieving I understand, but she’s just not the same badass as she was. Sovereign and the brothers and constantly shifting also, wanting her and then deceiving her. Tiburon seems to have had a complete personality change at one point!!
The Soshiia plot started and ended in this book, just nowhere near enough in here for me. Yes it was a surprise who they were, but I’m left with more questions than answers here for this.
So I’m looking to book 3, hopefully all will be redeemed!!
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down I read the book in one day.Addison is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
I’ll be honest, I was a little sceptical when I first read the blurb for Sovereign. Like uh huh, another mystical lady with badass powers who is in a complicated position with the government and a love-hate relationship with a dark lover. Check.
But I decided to give it a shot and wow! Cain definitely did not disappoint! I loved the characterisation of Sigil, she actually seemed like a real person. It was a bit frustrating at times reading the interactions between her and the brothers, but I never felt like rolling my eyes at some overwritten purple prose. The world building was fascinating, there was so much that I was desperately curious to know more about – how do the serums work? What are psionics? Who are the rebels? Definitely keen for the next book!
And for those of you interested in the um… steamer side of things – you will 100% not be disappointed *wink wink*.
Also, obviously no spoilers but I 1000% need more Jerla in my life. Please and thank you.
Like I said, I know the genre can be a bit hit and miss, but I promise you that you will not regret this book. Read the first one, you’ll know what I mean.
Sovereign picks up 47 years after book one ends. Yep folks, we have a huge time jump. But don’t worry, we don’t miss out on much since Sigil herself spent those 47 years sleeping off her epic brokenhearted melt down when Drinta, the Queen Bitch, presented Sovereign and his merry band of horny brothers and Sigil, Que’s head in a pretty wrapped box. Sigil looses it and destroys the entire planet of Pax. Yep, blows that shit up! When Sigil finally awakens she finds herself isolated in a castle by the sea, actually, in the middle of a huge ocean. No way to escape her current situation or Sovereign. Sovereign and his brothers have patiently waited for 47 years for Sigil to wake up and they have spent that time trying to recondition Sigil, reprogram her brain, so to speak, so when she wakes up she doesn’t want to kill them and now that she is awake they are eager to get the baby making process up and going but Sigil is not down for baby making and the reprogramming didn’t really work. She is still heartbroken over Que and doesn’t want to be bothered. She still wants to murder Sovereign and his brothers but finds she doesn’t really have the same kind of energy for it as she did before Que’s head was given to her as a present and she relents and let’s Sovereign and Karhl start to have sexy time with her (Together! Kind of Lannisterish, if you ask me).
When Sovereign feels Sigil is ready he has her transported to Irdesi Prime, the capital of Sovereign’s government. But rebellion is brewing and humans are rebelling from Sovereign’s forced conversion and Sigil is thrust into the rebellion that has been waging against Sovereign’s rule and she becomes the center of it whether she likes it or not (she likes it).
I enjoyed Sovereign a lot. Lots of sexy time (reverse harem style) and lots and lots of GoT type of politics…hello cray cray babies! Whose cray cray babies? Well, you will have to read and find out! There are some major twists in this book, it become pretty bonkers towards the end and there is eye eating (ewwww)! There is a bit of cliffhanger ending. There can be a book three. There is an opening for it and I’m pretty sure I read on Ms. Cain’s Facebook group that there will be a book three, one can only hope!
I read the original “Sovereign” and I really enjoyed the extended version. It runs the full gamut of emotions from such incredible despair and grief to a blood-thirsty resoluteness that will have you almost cheering on this very unconventional heroine. This is a dark series with unusual characters, so do not expect this to be a romance even if her men do love her and will do anything to keep her safe. Even lie to her. #TeamSigil
With this author you really pay attention to what is going on the chapter. You can get lost fast. I very addicted to Addison books even though I have hard time following who is talking
Following “Sigil: Irdesi Empire Book One”, “Soverign: Irdesi Empire Book Two” has out done its prequel.
In this book we see many changes and heartbreak that Sigil must go to. The murder of Que is so hard on her that is dificult to read.
Sometimes is dificult to cheer and love a cannibalist but boy do we love Sibil.
At times my heart was in so much agony for a woman who has endured monstrous torture, betrayal and lost, but she continues to fight.
In this book we see the adorationg that all feel for Sigil, the fear that she wont acept her place and all the secrets ploys we don’t really understand yet.
The rebels and the help the had was a big surprise and so sad, I was crying so much, poor Sigil.
Not all is bad, she meet a sweet and wondelfull woman that helps her and centers her.
Sovering, Khal and Tiburon, are big part of the book and in the life of Sigil, all 3 love her in different ways and I love to see every side of their love.
The last part of the book was happy and bittersweet, I can’t wait for the next book, I need to know what awaits fot Sigil and if all the secrets al going to be reveled.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this book, but I really liked this book. It is a dark and gritty sci fi novel. The story slowly reveals the what and why, but there are still plenty of questions that need to be answered.
I had to read this series twice before I fell completely in love with it! Its a very complex & twisting tale, that’s full of sadness, & gruesome action. I liked how book 2 delved into the Sigil’s mind & got to see how all the males played into her life & interacted with her. My three favorite guys so far are Sovereign, Tiburon & Karhl… There were just so many scenes that just broke my heart…and its like Sigil just can’t catch a break & keeps getting kicked. I know that she’s a strong female, but dang…how much can we expect her to take w/out breaking?? 🙁
And that ending as got me CRAVING the next installment to this series!!! Can NOT wait!!! 🙂
Really enjoy this author’s writing!! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!!
Maybe some people like the unnecessary death and cannibalism, but I’m not a fan. I read the first book and thought the story would improve but instead it got worse. If you want a happy ending, look elsewhere.
Surprisingly different. Ready for the next book.
