They tell you that a parent’s love is all consuming. I never put much thought into it. Not until the minute I heard her take her first breath. That little girl is my world. I’d do anything to protect her. My ex signed over her rights and her family vowed that my daughter didn’t exist. Now that she’s gone, they want my little girl. They’re trying to say I can’t give her what she needs.I’ve known … needs.
I’ve known Evan all my life. Our families farms run parallel with each other. He and my brother Aaron have been best friends for as long as I can remember.
What they’re trying to do is wrong. He needs my help, someone he can trust and I’m more than happy to do it. I volunteered without hesitation.
I should have thought about what it would be like to have our lives intertwined. I should have thought about what would happen when our time together ended and how my heart would feel when I had to walk away.

Just finished. Wish I could find an Evan
Loved
Romantic feel good ending. Loved the story and character building. I loved it.
I picked this book up as a freebie. I totally plan to read the rest of this series.
The book starts off.. GAH!.. and I just wasn’t sure how to feel about all that! I fell in love with Evan from the start. Hes a sweet man for sure. McKinley comes into the picture and these 2 are so damn perfect together! I enjoyed myself reading their story. I had a few times the waterworks showed up.
There isn’t anything I don’t like about this book. Quite an enjoyable, and sweet book. I am excited to see whats in store in the other books in this series.
I really liked this book, sort of coming of age theme.
It was a very sweet and easy read. The main characters were real and the story was believable. I had not read this author before but I will be reading her books from now on.
So nice to see family values shine through. Relationship developed to such a positive conclusion. Very effective writing style.
I loved the characters in this book. Reminded me of old friends who would always have your back – no matter what. Evan is one of the good guys, and Kinley is your everyday girl next door with grit. I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for an easy read.
I normally don’t like the young adult genre, but this one was different as it involved young adults with big adult problems and handling them in a mature loving way. This is a friends to lovers, big brothers best friend trope and it was just well done. Of course we know Evan and Kinley are on a collision course. The key was Aaron. Just a sweet lovely story.
Love your books
This book is pure joy, Such devotion McKinley has towards Evan and his little girl. Evan’s character is a stand up guy who does the right thing from the beginning. He is committed to be a good dad, add in McKinley with her support and love, we get a beautiful little family. Southern Pleasure is a fun read with some heartache but nothing too dramatic. Just what I need for a fun weekend read.
Kaylee Ryan is the queen of the swoony sweet love stories- as a fan of our more current series, I decided to come back and check out the Southern World, one of her most loved and well known series- and I’m so glad I did. Everything I love about Kaylee- sweet and tender romances, butterflies, gentle and intimate chemistry, and all the swoon.
Evan is a classic KR hero- just a decent, likable, hardworking and respectable man with a sexy streak that makes him utterly irresistible- especially because in Southern Pleasure we have a single dad. A dad who finds himself unexpectedly a father and unexpectedly raising a child solo- leaving him super reliant on his best friend’s little sister, MckInely, the newly minted graduate who has just moved back home to build her photography business. They’ve known each other forever, so already have a sweet and comfortable familial connection, but the more McKinley helps Evan, the more their bond evolves- an attraction and undeniable chemistry is already brewing when they find themselves in a marriage of convenience to protect Evan’s custody over his daughter, further blurring the just-friends line between them. It’s only a matter of time before they cross it.
I loved this mixture of friends-to-lovers, brother’s best friend, single dad, and marriage of convenience tropes. It made for some delicious dynamics. And, I found both of our leading characters just charming- good hearted, loving, and open people who are just trying to figure out their life and support each other. The chemistry is both sweet and sexy, and Evan definitely is a swoony leading man, but MckInley is a real charmer. There is a bit more angst than I’m used to in a KR book- we have a lot of push-pull and these two are really slow to lean into their feelings despite all the dynamics pushing them together. I did love, though, that the marriage happened when they are already exploring their attraction- it was a different take on the trope and also felt more natural in terms of how it turned out. I did feel like the Misty plots were just…odd. The stuff with her family, the twists and turns with her character- felt a bit convenient in places. But, all in all, a super enjoyable KR read and excited for more from this series!
I fell in love with Evan and what he will do for his daughter Lexi. Then you have his best friends little sister McKinley who will do anything and everything to help him. I loved this story so much and it was quite the journey for these two friends who become so much more. The twists in this story were jaw dropping. I highly recommend this story and author!!!!
I love everything about Evan and McKinley in this sweet single dad, brothers best friend story. Evan just found out he so going to be a dad and that his girlfriend most definitely doesn’t want to be a mom. Desperate to raise his child (swoon) he convinces his now ex girlfriend to carry to term and give him the chance to raise the child, she agrees.
What is a bachelor to do now but go to his best friends sister to help him get ready for the baby. Chemistry ignites and he falls fast for McKinley.
This is the kickoff to another series by Kaylee Ryan and I cannot wait for more! The audio book is defiantly an awesome companion to the book. Narrators by Joe Arden and Amy Johnson give a great performance!
I really enjoyed this story but it’s not like my normal reading. I have to say this first and foremost because most of who follow my reviews are safe readers. This one is NOT considered “safe”. Although everyone has their own definition of what “safe” means, my main definition is no others after meeting (for either H/h). In this one, the H, Evan, is the best friend of the h’s, McKinley’s older brother. They’ve known each other most of their lives and neither of them are virgins. Actually, in the beginning of this book, the H’s current girlfriend is telling him she is pregnant with his kid and she doesn’t want it. i probably wouldn’t have read this book, but I love Kaylee Ryan’s H’s. I think she writes some of the best ones I’ve ever read. And with neither of them virgins, it made me feel better than if the h was a virgin “saving herself” for him while he gets his freak on. Blah. There’s no mention of her past and it’s only been a couple months for him. I think this story was told wonderfully and by the end of the book, I was completely head over heels for Evan.
-neither virgins (condoms used throughout their relationship)
-dual POV
-no real OW drama, no OM drama
-not insta-love, but builds to the best kind of overwhelming love
-H who cries and is very emotional when h leaves him (GAH! I just love that). These are an emotional bunch of men.
-epilogue 2 years out
I finished the first 3 books in this series and really enjoyed them all. (I know, I know, these books have been out for years and I’m just now reading them) I have to say, these men are an emotional bunch once they realize the h’s are the loves of their lives. They are all in, completely and wholly. If you’re not a complete safety reader and don’t mind a slow burn love story, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one.
Sweet
fun read
From the moment Evan hears that he is going to be a father he will do anything to make sure that Misty does not abort that baby, even if that means he has to raise the baby as a single father. Thanks to his best friend and his sister, Evan has the support he needs. But helping him is a difficult thing for McKinley – as she has always loved Evan. Will the sparks fly as the two become closer? Or will McKinley just be a stand in and helper to make sure that Lexi has a stable home? From the opening pages until the very last chapter my heart was captivated with this instant family. The love Evan has for his child leaps off the page and proves just how beautiful a story Kaylee Ryan can write. Absolutely loved it and cannot wait to read more.
Family, that is really what Southern pleasure is all about,
Good story — relatable characters.
Wow! What a fantastic story this was. Evan is preparing to be a single father but doesn’t think he can do it on his own. McKinley is the little sister of Evan’s best friend and has had a crush on Evan for years. She offers to help him get ready for the baby and their chemistry is unmistakable. They both fall hard but are unwilling to admit it. Kaylee Ryan did a fabulous job with their story by giving us all the feels, some humor, drama, sexual tension, steam and of course an HEA. The narrators did a wonderful job telling Evan and Kinsley’s story. I look forward to reading/listening to the next book.
