They tell you that a parent’s love is all consuming. I never put much thought into it. Not until the minute I heard her take her first breath. That little girl is my world. I’d do anything to protect her. My ex signed over her rights and her family vowed that my daughter didn’t exist. Now that she’s gone, they want my little girl. They’re trying to say I can’t give her what she needs.I’ve known … needs.
I’ve known Evan all my life. Our families farms run parallel with each other. He and my brother Aaron have been best friends for as long as I can remember.
What they’re trying to do is wrong. He needs my help, someone he can trust and I’m more than happy to do it. I volunteered without hesitation.
I should have thought about what it would be like to have our lives intertwined. I should have thought about what would happen when our time together ended and how my heart would feel when I had to walk away.

This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this book. The main characters were easy to like. The plot wasn’t too far-fetched. Some surprising twists that kept it interesting.
This was a really nice, friends to more story. Aside from the main storyline, the only thing keeping these two great characters apart is their hesitancy to admit feelings and lose a friend.
Fairly well edited.
Evan has been enjoying his life. Young, carefree, date here, date there, work, live, and build a life. Everything is moving along just fine, thank you. Until the girl he’s been casually dating drops by to tell him she’s pregnant and she doesn’t plan to keep it. Evan works fast to get Misty to agree to have the baby and give him full custody. Thankfully, Evan has people in his life that are more than willing to help him prepare for the arrival of his child. His best friend, Aaron, and Aaron’s little sister, McKinley, are all to happy to help Evan out. As the days, weeks, and months pass Evan and McKinley grow especially close. They are the best of friends, and each is harboring a longing for more. When Misty dies and her parents sue for custody, McKinley steps up in the biggest way to help Evan keep his daughter. McKinley suggest that she and Evan get married to keep Lexi safe. Evan agrees, the families step in to get things organized, and before you know, they are married. McKinley talks about the temporary status of their marriage so much that Evan thinks she really wants out. Letting McKinley go is the very last thing he wants. Will Evan and McKinley ever admit their real feelings? Will they go back to just being friends? Will Lexi get McKinley for a mommy?
What a really sweet read. Most of the characters in this story were very likable. This is just a story of people trying to do the right thing, finding love where they least expect to, and letting fear of losing what they have hold them back from more. Looking forward to seeing Aaron’s story play out next. Enjoy.
This was a great book! I am so glad I decided to read some of Kaylee Ryan’s back list on KU! This book was great!
Evan has no clue what to do when his girlfriend says she is pregnant other that he wants the baby. When she agrees to turn the baby over to him he is in over his head.
Kinley has always been his best friends little sister but she is the one who is there for him when he needs help.
Will they see what everyone around them does? Will their hearts become entangled along with their new life together?
This was a great KU read. I look forward to reading the next in this series!!
Easy and fun read.
too slow
Beautiful
This was such a touching story. Evan finds out his girlfriend is pregnant but she wants to get rid of it. He wants the baby & convinces her to have the baby and let him keep it. McKinley is his best friends little sister and they have been close friends also. She offers to help him. But they both don’t admit they both love more than just the baby .
I loved reading the book. It was very thoughtfully written and put together.
Sweet story and believable
Love it
I was a bit silly and read Southern Desire first, and when I read Southern Desire I just loved Evan and McKinley so I knew I had to go straight into this book, now usually even if it’s a different couple but same series I usually have to read books in between I can’t go from one book to the next in a series I am not sure why but I do, but this baby I had too, I needed to know what Evan and McKinley had gone through.
I absolutely loved this book the more I’m reading of Kaylee Ryan the more I am loving her books, her writing, just everything and boy am I loving these county boys and country living books by a Kaylee
I love Even he just grabbed my heart straight away especially with being a man and taking on responsibilities that he didn’t have to and I just fell In love with Evan from the first page, put me in a sandwich with him an Aaron and I would be a very happy girl.
McKinley she was the most selfless loving character I have read in a while, she thought of everyone but herself, dam how it would turn out for her in the end, she was there to help and think of everyone else, loved her and how sweet and precious she was.
Loved everything about this book just a fantastic, heartfelt, beautiful book and I would say I can’t wait to read the next in then series but I have already and if you have read this book are going to just one click both you will want to read it
Evan becomes a single father, not planned, but when his casual hookup becomes pregnant he steps up and proves that he is indeed a strong southern man. This whole prospect is daunting, but with the help of McKinley, his best friend’s little sister it becomes more manageable.
McKinley had a crush on her brother’s best friend as she was growing up, but these feelings she has as an adult make those feelings pale in comparison. And seeing him with his baby, that takes it to an even higher level.
These two fall in love as they spend time together planning for Evan’s new addition, but it’s never that easy, is it?
This is an absolute must read! Five stars all the way!
This Is a 5 star read in my books. Evan is best friend with Aaron and in turn with Aaron’s little sister McKinley. Growing up McKinley had a childhood crush on Evan but now after getting her degree in Photography she moves back home and when she sees Evan again those feelings are back.but stronger ( not a childhood crush anymore). When Evan’s life is turned upside down never to be the same. He needs his friends and family the most. When Kinley offers to help him every step of the way. Evan grabs the opportunity for her help but he also finds he can’t stay away from Kinley. He will try what he can to show her she is more to him then just a friend helping him fine his way with the new addition to his life, He wants to make McKinley a permanent part of his new family. Can two people that have known each other their whole life make a love of friendship to lovers work, Can they find the true meaning of what a loving friendship really mean. They always say if your relationship starts out as friends then to lovers that bond of love can never be broken. I 100% recommend this book to everyone.
So I got this book by way of a gift in a giveaway. I was so excited I started it right away. It is amazing. Evan finds out his friend with benefits is pregnant with his child. With his family out of town for his ill father to receive cancer treatment, he only has his second family. His second family happens to be his next door neighbor and his best friend Aaron. Aaron’s parents have always been Evan’s second mom and dad. They help him on the ranch and he in turn helps them. When the mother of the baby decides she wants nothing to do with the baby, Evan becomes a single father before the baby is even born. He finds his self in over his head but his best friends little sister steps up and is by his side for it all. They go through a rough few months after the baby is born but Kinley never complains. It is a rollercoaster ride for them both. It it is an amazing story that is a must read. No cliffhanger. HE A ending. Lo e it. Fully recommend.
