A 3.5 star read for me which results in 4 stars. I thought the books were okay. I do like the value of a boxset, I just wasn’t thrilled with a few of the characters. This would fit into a contemporary romance category and the story is about two friends from the same small Georgia town. The first book basically covers Annie who is struggling in LA to become an actress and has the typical, yet unfortunate experience of dealing with creeps with casting couches. In Book 2, Annie and her best friend, Marti come back in Georgia. Annie finds her guy, Tommy, and Marti feels lost and alone. Marti takes off and plans to go to LA to find what she is looking for, but because of the cost ends up hitching a ride with trucker, Nick. They end up married after a drunken night in Vegas. Marti is full of angst and indecision, and returns to Georgia. The reads are easy going, relaxing but predictable.

I enjoyed this collection, it’s two standalone stories with no cliffhangers and wonderful HEA’s. The storylines are interesting and sweet with plenty of drama and steam.
Two best friends have new experiences separately and together outside the lines. One goes home again and has a rediscovery with someone from years past. One runs away after feeling rejected but kidnaps her future. It nicely includes the ways of southern life. Very enjoyable read.

Southern Heat Bk1
Annie has been worried about her grandfather 3000 miles away in the hospital While she was there she met Daveed one of the assistants who immediately taken to Annie even though he was gay. The agent she slapped called her to talk her the director wanted to see her. Meanwhile she gets a call from Georgia. about her grandfathers health.
Southern Heat Bk2
Annie saw a dozen or so of Marti and Tommy together so she just shut them both out. Marti meanwhile decides to get out of Georgia.. On the way she meets Nick Vargas who was a hot truck driver whose family owns a trucking company and was going to LA.
I have previously read both books, but not as a set. I loved both books, and was able to read them consecutively to keep my brain flowing on this story.
Book 1 – Annie’s grandfather is in the hospital, then rehab, in her hometown in Georgia, but she’s in LA, looking for her big break. She thinks she’s found it with Vic, the casting director. When he takes advantage of her, she plots her revenge. Don’t mess with a Southern girl! When her grandfather passes away, she bails on LA and heads for home. Before she knows it, she’s got a date with Tommy, the geekiest kid from her childhood. Only now, he’s the sheriff, and holy hotness! He’s ripped, and in love with her. I mostly enjoyed this book. It’s well written, and the story moves right along. I’m not sure what the purpose was of the sexual relationship going on between Annie and her best friend, Marti – I don’t really think that it added anything to the story, other than some unnecessary drama. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book. But it doesn’t end here… (stay tuned for book 2)
Book 2 – Annie and Tommy have resolved their issues from her sexual dalliance with Marti. But Marti is hurt, and leaves town. Headed for LA, she meets Nick, a trucker, at at diner, and he offers her a ride. They have a comical trip across the country, including a stopover in Vegas, where they get drunk and married. He’s older, and very wealthy – he owns the trucking company. This was a great book to read. Marti and Nick have terrific chemistry; despite differences in age, income, and culture, they are perfect together. I enjoyed seeing the stories of Annie and Marti, and how they intertwined.
ARC review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This book is on fire . Annabelle (annie) gibbons is in Hollywood trying to become a actress ,but when her grandfather passes away she comes home to mountainview Georgia where her best friend Marti and sheriff Tommy Donovan have to figure out their fellings. Awesome story hot. Books 2-In this part of the story you find out what’s happening with Tommy and Annie’s relationship and where Marti Odell runs off to . When she catches a ride with a trucker only to find he’s Nick vargas family owned and CEO of vargas international fright company and businessman . This is their story . 10 stars for great writing . Awesome story hot
Book 1: I have mixed but good feelings about this book. I knew going in that it was a two book Series so I was fortunate enough to have Book Two to start right after the last page of this book and I found I enjoyed Book 2 more. Much of Book 1 is about Annie and her life in L.A. as an aspiring actress. She runs up against the stereotypical “casting couch” talent scout while seeking acting jobs and a new BFF, Daveed, who has a flamboyant personality and while supporting her emotionally, he also introduces Annie to a side of Hollywood she never thought she would see. Just when you begin to wonder whether Annie will make finally get her big break, she goes back to Georgia and that is really when her story begins.
Book 2: I started out reading this book and did not like the character of Marti, Annie’s childhood friend. As the story progressed and with all the trouble Marti seemed to be causing in Annie and Tommy’s life I was ecstatic when Marti left town, hoping that the story would be more to my liking. Much to my surprise, the secondary storyline of Marti and her new romance and adventures with Nick while on the way their way to L.A. came to be my favorite read. I just “knew” that once Marti arrived in L.A. that Annie might hook her up with Daveed and I could see more of his flamboyant lifestyle as he took her under his wing as well but things didn’t end up going that way. What I found was that the “love interest” between Nick and Marti turned out to be the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and I was on the edge of my seat wondering whether there would be an HEA or not. There were some nail-biting moments where I was convinced that there was tragedy or heartache or both around every corner for one or all of the characters. No I won’t spoil the surprises but just know that while Book 1 was entertaining and necessary to read before starting the next one, Book 2 is definitely where the gold is.
A terrific box set
Book 1 – Annie is an actress and lives in Los Angeles trying out for every part going. Her grandfather back home is quite ill and she may have to return at any time. When the call finally comes she returns home. His very large home badly needs renovating and he has left Annie a very large sum of money. Annie and her best friend Marti have a great friendship until the gorgeous Tommy enters the picture. What a wonderful story.
Book 2 – Annie and Tommy are very happy together but Marti still causes some problems. Then she runs away. She is given a ride to LA with Nick who is gorgeous. They get on very well and have great chemistry. Things heat up with them and they do something really dumb one night while quite drunk. Realy enjoyed this book.
