He challenged her legacy.
She challenged him to love.
In 1850s South Carolina, ladies with ambition and a penchant for wearing trousers are rare indeed. But that’s Charlotte Whitney all over. Not only does Charlie yearn to resurrect her late father’s newspaper, she wants to be its editor. That position, however, has been handed to Richmond newspaperman Adam Chase. Undeterred, Charlie convinces Adam to teach her the journalism trade. In doing so, she teaches him how to open his heart.
Adam Chase had one goal in mind: to return Edgemont’s newspaper to its former glory and then make tracks back to the big city. But he faces one very tempting obstacle in outspoken Charlie Whitney. The newsroom becomes the battleground for a war between the sexes—until Adam surrenders to Charlie’s sultry charms. Together, they discover that the power of the press doesn’t hold a candle to the power of love.

2) TO DESIRE A SCOUNDREL (Tanner)
Come along for a story of holiday novella Romantic Times calls, “a searing passion…a sexy tale filled with great verbal repartee!”
The first rule when dealing with scoundrels? Never wager more than you are willing to lose. Especially in matters of the heart.
Katherine Peters had loved Richmond’s most notorious scoundrel — and lost. She vowed to forget Tanner Barkley. And deny the ache in her heart.
Caught between the devil and desire.
Tanner Barkley rejected a banking fortune for the newspaper business. He hadn’t planned on falling in love with the one person who held the key to the most important story of his career.
Katherine’s disdain is no match for Tanner’s persuasive charm.
Or the love neither can deny.
“A bad boy…and a lively, independent woman. An excellent sequel!”

Both of Tracy Sumner’s books in her Southern Heat series involve strong females that fall in love with men they believe are a heartbreak just waiting to happen.
To Seduce A Rogue:
This is a delightful, sensual book about two people that are strongly drawn to each other but try to bury those inconvenient feelings. Charlie is an independent career woman who refuses to limit herself to traditional roles, or attire. She is regarded as an eccentric oddball in her provincial town of Edgemont, South Carolina. Adam Jared Chase ticked all the boxes for being her other half, except that he got the editorial job Charlie thought should be hers and he has decided not to marry. Charlie doesn’t color inside the lines or follow orders to the letter. Adam has a far better understanding of the consequences for defiance under the new management. Whether Adam and Charlie are fighting or romancing their story is irresistible.
To Desire A Scoundrel
When Tanner Barkley and Katherine Peters see each other, sparks fly. Once they were deeply in love, but Kate believed Tanner betrayed her, so she ran and tried not to care, refusing to listen to Tanner’s excuses. Then they find themselves both guests of mutual friends at a Christmas tree decorating party. There is a hilarious scene with the over-served guests wobbling and toppling the tree a time or two. Their magnetic chemistry keeps drawing them back together despite Kate’s determination not to rekindle their simmering romance. To Desire a Scoundrel is a fun read that fans of steamy romances will enjoy.
Rogue*****
Charlotte is a great character, independent, compassionate, smart, feisty and a bit stubborn. My heart went out to Adam, he’s even more stubborn than Charlotte but protective yet shadowed by some family matters that are sad and closed him off to close relationships. Charlotte’s demeanor brings calmness to his emotional chaos. Very touching and sensual love story with engaging characters.
Scoundrel****
Tanner has to put on his running shoes because Katherine has the fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice, not going to happen. Regardless of their history, I love that Tanner has to work for it. I think they are meant for each other and was well entertained, short and to the point.
Enjoyable
I originally read these two books earlier this year and this is what I wrote about them:
1. How To Seduce a Rogue
I did enjoy this story but feel that it could have been shortened as it rambled on a bit in parts. Besides that the story is good and the characters strong.
I especially liked Charlotte/Charlie’s strength and determinism. She is a journalist and just wants to write without any distractions, but this is a ‘Romance’ story and so……
Along comes Adam and he sounds and acts like a really passionate, caring and considerate hunk, but he has troubles from his past which haunt him.
I am interested to see what book 2 in this series brings as I did enjoy this story (as mentioned above).
I received and read a free Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the ebook and my voluntary and unbiased review is recorded above.
2. How To Desire a Scoundrel
A quick, interesting and passionate second chances story filled with lots of regrets and a beautiful make-ups.
Loved these two characters on their journey to allowing themselves to eventually admit their love for each other.
I’m happy to recommend it.
