I know two things when I meet my new boss, Greyson Parker Montgomery III.One, he’s an egomaniac. And two, we’re going to get naked.Something I didn’t know? That I’d end up pregnant. No one is more surprised by our off-the-charts chemistry than me. I’m a free spirit with a passion for design and a taste for the bohemian. Greyson is a cocky venture capitalist who’s as pretentious as his sharply cut … pretentious as his sharply cut power suits.
He owns half of Charleston, and has the other half at his beck and call. But the only place he owns me is in bed…or in the backseat of his car, boneless and begging for mercy.
We argue over contracts and costs all day long. Behind closed doors, however, we engage in a different kind of business. The kind that has me surrendering to his unique brand of dominance.
Our no-strings attached arrangement suits me just fine. Until I wake up one morning with what I think is a wicked hangover.
Only it’s not a hangover.
I thought Greyson was a typical “greed is good” grump. But when he demands to be involved in the life we accidentally created, I start to see a different side of him. One that’s more gentleman than jerk.Am I crazy to think we could be a family together? Or is making me fall for him just another one of his power plays?
SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN is a STANDALONE, full length, accidental pregnancy/enemies-to-lovers romance.

Ms. Peterson continues to get better with every book that she writes. Grey and Julia’s story really gave me all of the feels. The emotions are real and the chemistry between these two is hot! I loved the pregnancy part of this story and all of the emotions that brought out in these two. It was a very realistic view.
Grey may be my new favorite book boyfriend. I love a great series where we get to always see old friends and fall in love with new ones. Great read.
Julia’s lady balls are quite big, “…be honest. Did you really come all the way out here just so you could be rude to me in person?” Greyson likes to do things in order, “nu-huh,” he growls. “You come first. Like always.” Greyson has quite the memory, “…you mean the scone we ate before I went down on you for the rest of the day?” Grey is pften confused, “What the eff does that mean, I want to shout. What the eff is happening?” I liked this book, I loved Grey
Oh. My. Gosh. Y’all.
I loved this book from beginning to end. I adore me a growly hero and Greyson did not disappoint. I also love a take-no-crap heroine and Julia gave me that in spades. And, yeah, Jessica Peterson absolutely brings the heat with this one. Southern Gentleman is all about two people finding their way through an unexpected joy in the form of an unplanned pregnancy.
“Parenthood in a nutshell?”
“You don’t get the excitement without the terror, I guess.”
Along the way, they both have to decide what is important to them and what they are willing to compromise on to be able to keep what’s most important. They also get to know each other in ways that they never have before. I seriously went through ALL of the emotions reading this. It’s just felt real. It’s a journey full of hope, self-awareness, forgiveness, and love that is not to be missed.
“Just because you’re a villain in one story doesn’t mean you can’t be a hero in another”
“Shadows come with the light. You can’t have one without the other.”
This is book three is the Charleston Heat series, but you can definitely read it as a stand-alone. I highly recommend this one!
I love this series soo much-and I absolutely LOVED this book!!! Growly grumpy Greyson and free spirit Julia…talk about opposites! The hate was so strong between these two you just knew when they finally got together it would be HOT HOT HOT!! Highly recommend this book-and this series!
Oh My 5+ Stars!!! Romance Author Jessica Peterson has stolen my heart once again with this one! Southern Gentleman is the 3rd book in the Charleston Heat series and I didn’t know how she would top the first two, but dayum! She did it! It is not imperative to read books one and two first, but…yeah…just read them first, mmmmkay? This is one of those series that you should read in order because there are characters that flow throughout the series and I guarantee you will not regret it!
Cocky businessman Greyson Parker Montgomery III tries to lay down the law with Julia (or as Grey says…Ju-Ya) Lassiter, the literature professor/designer in charge of Luke’s farmer’s market/barn remodel…but instead he lays her down…in his back seat of his car. They both get off on the banter between them and their heat is off the charts!
“Greyson is still looking at me.
What is this, some kind of staring contest?
My lips twitch. I’m game.”
Because of a past decision, he doesn’t believe he deserves happiness…but Julia doesn’t judge him, instead she helps him see his true self…
“Just because you’re a villain in one story doesn’t mean you can’t be a hero in another.”
“But Grey doesn’t dance,” Ford says, teasing.
I look at Greyson. “We’ll see about that.”
This dual trope (enemies-to-lovers and accidental pregnancy) is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!!! The author, Jessica Peterson does an AMAZING job with the pregnancy POV (personal experience fell into this perfectly!) I loved the special connection with Julia! This story is dual character POV (Julia and Grey), and as with the first two in the series, flows so flawlessly! The characters are written so well, there were several parts I literally laughed-out-loud (TDP!!!), the s-e-x scenes were freaking HOT (my hubby says, “Thanks, Jessica!” HAHA), I had feelings while reading this that went so deep into my heart. I cannot wait for book 4…Southern Heartbreaker, Eva and Ford’s book!!! This series is so incredible! I REALLY wish I could give this book more than 5 stars!
A EXTREMELY steamy, crackling with downright INCREDIBLE tension, a push and pull that was irresistible and made me flip the heck out in the BEST of ways and made this one of the most entertaining and irresistible reads of the summer!
Jessica Peterson’s third Charleston Heat story was intense. The story was popping with both the tension I mentioned earlier as well as a outstanding plot that left me captivated. The characters were in-your-face exhilarating and the plot…oh I couldn’t resist it! I loved the constant hate/love that was going on between Julia and Grey. It made for a some fabulous steam that I could feel crackle right off the pages! Amazing!
Southern Gentleman is a book to remember and brag about and BEG others to read. I give this book a SOLID FIVE STEAMY STARS!
I can say without a doubt that this book is definitely Jessica Peterson’s best book to date! She tackles some tough topics and shows how communication, love and great friends can get you through the toughest of times!
I identified so much with Julia! Everything she felt and went through when her world was tilted was real and raw and it made me love her more! Her ability to see through the armor Greyson wore and not give up on him shows just how genuine of a person she is!
Greyson is a very intense man and has a deep sense of duty that comes through with how hard he works to keep his business flourishing! It’s also his biggest flaw because he doesn’t make time to enjoy the life he’s trying to “live”
I love how real this story was! No over the tope drama but enough comedy and heat to remind me why I love reading and romance so much! This book definitely took me to a happy place and it’s a must read for sure!!
I fell in love with Greyson Montgomery from page one and Julia became my new best friend with her fiery attitude and unbridled honesty. Jessica has a way of making you fall for her characters early on even when they are rude and snarky. Her characters always have a redeeming quality with a hot chemistry. Greyson is an investor in Luke’s Barn and restaurant and Julie is interior designer hired to compete the remodel. Julia has worked with Greyson’s firm before but not with Greyson and sparks fly from the get go. This is a story of two people who have feelings and an undeniable connection who go from enemies with benefits to more when an accidental pregnancy forces them together. This story is so real as Greyson and Julia navigate fate, family, friends, and an undeniable chemistry as they learn to communicate trust and listen. Undeniably a five star read that is so real as it address the real problems that arise in a relationship. Bravo to Jessica as she pulls every heart string and leaves you wanting more…… I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Jessica Peterson,YOU ARE A THIEF..!
But a thief of THE BEST Kind because Greyson and Julia have totally stolen this girls heart and your words have hijacked it completely.I cannot even begin to tell you how much I LOVED this story it is Perfect in every way.
It left me with the most heartwarming feelings inside ,like a comfort blanket wrapped around me it makes you want to stay in its cozy embrace forever.I couldnt put it down I didnt want to leave this world Jessica has created.
This book was like a breath of fresh air for me and what romance is ALL about,it was like going back to basics..and reading Romance like what it used to be,(oops am I showing my age)
Grey and Julia’s story had me swooning from the begining until the end,it was Honest, real , raw, emotional very Sexy steamy and so romantic.A story about taking risks even though you are scared and falling in Love with the person you least expected to fall in love with.
Greyson IS a dream I Loved him so much put it this way I now have a new appreciation for growly werewolves(You will understand this when you read the book).
And I loved Julia’s character how excepting she is and how she is not afraid to be herself,I wish I could be like her.
Southern Gentleman is another 5star winner for me and an excellent edition to this series ,I am ecstatic there will be a 4th book.
DO NOT hesitate to but this on your TBR ,.This is a must read and has the highest of the highest recomendations from me.
SUPERB !
I have loved every book in the Charleston Heat series but Southern Gentleman has just catapulted to the top of my favorites! Greyson Montgomery is a tightly wound venture capitalist that is financing the renovations on Charleston’s soon to be latest farmer’s market. Julia Lassiter is the designer as well as a local college professor. To say these two are oil and water would be describing things mildly. What they really are is fire and ice and when they get together…smokin! But when you play with fire there may be consequences. In this case Julia and Grey have a big surprise arriving in 9 months or so! How will these two opposites make things work when they have the biggest lifechanging event just beyond the horizon? This enemies to lovers/surprise baby story will have you cheering them on even when you’re shacking your head. I cannot describe how much I loved Souther Gentleman and its cast of characters. It stands alone but I recommend reading the other two books in the series because they are equally good yet different in their own ways. It’s told from dual POV and it is steamy, funny, thought provoking and loaded with laughter and love. Definitely one of my favorite romances of 2019.
Jessica Peterson continues her Charleston Heat series with Greyson and Julia’s story in Southern Gentleman.
While working together on a project for Luke they frequently butt heads and sparks fly. Those sparks quickly turn to flame as they can’t deny their mutual attraction, but when Julia gets pregnant, everything changes.
Julia and Greyson were interesting characters to read about. As their relationship evolved and they became closer it was easy to see their growth and to root for them.
The plot moves at a quick pace and there are some fun/funny moments that nicely balance out the serious ones. I think this is Jessica Peterson’s best book yet!
Southern Gentleman is a standalone, but as it’s book three in the series there will be characters you recognize if you’ve read the first two.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Southern Gentleman is the third book in Jessica Peterson’s Charleston Heat series, and just like the books prior in this series this one had me well and truly hooked. It was another book I absolutely devoured, demonstrating once again why Jessica Peterson is one of my favourite romance authors.
Grey and Julia’s story had me swooning from the begining until the end. It was honest, real, true, emotional, oh so sexy and not to mention romantic. I was definitely rooting for Julia and Greyson from the outset. My favorite thing about them is how they blossomed and grew together as individuals and how they learned to embrace all the imperfections in their lives. This was a story about taking risks and falling in love with the person you least expected to fall in love with.
I just adore this series! Jessica Peterson has a true gift of writing romance. Just like all previous books, this one is written so beautifully, emotionally charged and downright hot and sexy. Southern Gentleman is a great addition to the Charleston Heat series. It’s filled with all the things Jessica Peterson does so well and has left me eagerly anticipating Book Four.
Southern Gentleman by Jessica Peterson is Book Three in The Charleston Heat Series. This is the story of Greyson and Julia. I have read the previous book but feel this can be a standalone book.
Julia and Greyson are what appears to be opposite attract. Greyson is the rich, stubborn hard to like hero at first who we find is punishing himself for something that happened. Greyson doesn’t feel really that he deserves love or happiness. Enter Julia the fun and free spirit girl next door who at first they seem to spark each other with their words. But the real spark is the strong attraction that neither can run from.
Enjoyed their story.
Imperfect for Each Other!
Southern Gentleman by Jessica Peterson is sexy and raw and exquisite. I was hooked on the chemistry between Julia and Greyson from page one. These two rubbed each other the wrong way; and oh my, how that friction ignited into an inferno! Their passion engulfed my senses and kept me constantly on the edge of a heat stroke. I could go on incessantly about the sexual energy in this book, but lets get to the heart.
Greyson is a man that lives for control, success, and family (not in that order). He takes his role as the oldest child seriously. He strives to support and protect those he loves with an intense ferocity. He comes off as growly, arrogant, and a bit of a tyrant. However, as soon as he meets Julia he knows that his world is in jeopardy of shifting.
Julia is a bit of a free spirit and embraces life with all of its chaos. She is a woman that appreciates the past, but lives firmly in the present. She doesn’t believe in being fake and therefore, what you see is what you get. Grey is used to having the upper hand, but Jules isn’t afraid to challenge him at every turn.
The unexpected string in Julia and Greyson’s arrangement comes in the form of a positive pregnancy test. Ms. Peterson did a magnificent job of presenting pregnancy in a realistic and thoughtful manner. She highlighted all of the emotions that surface at the prospect to bringing a new life into the world: anxiety, fear, doubt, joy, excitement, disbelief, etc. Though unplanned, this pregnancy brings Grey and Jules closer together. Family is important to both of them for very different reasons. It drives them to explore who they are, who they want to be, and how they can be better versions of themselves for their child. I loved every minute of this story! Grey and Jules are heart and hope and imperfect perfection.
I love a good opposites attract story. Julia and Greyson are just that, complete opposites. Julia is a romantic while Greyson loves work! The two meet on the job and hit it off, with a bang as in they are at each others throats from the moment they begin a conversation. Now this “passion” leads to some steamy encounters and Oh No! an accidental pregnancy!! The decision about what to do with the baby leads to a truce and hopefully more. This story was just like its character, sweet yet steamy. I just couldn’t put it down.

It’s taken me a couple of days to collect my thoughts about this book. I love Julia and Grey…accidental pregnancy isn’t always my favorite, so it was with a bit of bated breath that I waited to see how Jessica approached it.
These two…they’re real, they’re true, they’re adults. Adults have baggage. Real adults clear that baggage by communication…the conflict and communication here are real.
A few truths to discover here.
There’s the family you’re born with, and the family you make. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, they’re the same – or one contains the other. Julia has lost her born with…but oh, what she’s made. I love her tribe.
The other is about the weight of expectations. Expectations are a heavy thing to carry…and you don’t always have to pick them up. Your value isn’t what you can GIVE to people. Make sure the weight you carry is one you choose…and what you’re giving isn’t what you want to give, as opposed to what they need to receive.
This book isn’t all heavy. There is laughter, and heat, and sweetness. It was a lovely way to spend my time, and work was an impediment that I resented.
These books stand alone, but you owe it to yourself to begin at the beginning, then come here. Now, go read.
I loved this book! I’ve loved the whole series so far, but this book was special. The characters had a connection you could feel. I love REAL characters and real issues and they made this the perfect book.
Southern Gentleman is fun, sexy, and entertaining. Julia teaches at the local university, where she specializes in romance, and has a side job working as an interior designer. She’s fun, independent, feisty, and loves her girls nights. Greyson owns an investor group with his brother, but he runs the show. He’s demanding, in control, sexy, generous, and a workaholic. Working together on a project immediately sets them at odds, but it’s also a matter of time until their spark ignites. The pregnancy takes them by surprise and shows another side to Greyson. They actually get to know each other and appreciate how well they complement one another. They banter and flirt, challenge and support each other. Jessica Peterson did a great job developing these characters and relationships.
Ohh this book! <3 I didn’t know it could get better than books 1 & 2!! You could totally read this as a standalone with no issues...but you really need to read Southern Charmer and Southern Player just because they’re amazing!!
Jessica’s books are SO compelling. I find myself DEVOURING them, and then feeling bereft (in the best way) when I finish, already wanting to read them again. This is no exception.
Going in, I had forgotten that these books are funny, too. “I always took you for the kind of guy who lived off raw kale and the souls of innocent children.” So many funny one-liners. These two have the best banter!
The character development and growth of both Greyson and Julia is so phenomenal. I love how Juliet slowly cracks Greyson open, while giving him space, and inside of this gruff businessman is this funny, sweet, amazing person. And then she examines herself, and realizes she had some growing to do, as well.
Can we talk about how beautiful Jessica’s words and advise always are? I feel like I learn at least 10 life lessons in every one of these books. “I’m not going to fix you. I’m definitely not going to save you. But I am going to listen.” AND “Just because you’re a villain in one story doesn’t mean you can’t be a hero in another.”
And the truths about pregnancy and motherhood in this book are SO relatable. And true. So true.
Overall, this book made me laugh out loud, made me tear up, made me clutch my pearls, and also made me speak with a southern accent for a few days. I want to be in their world. Time to go read it again!
*I received this book ahead of time and made no commitment to leave a review, favorable or otherwise.*
