I know two things when I meet my new boss, Greyson Parker Montgomery III.One, he’s an egomaniac. And two, we’re going to get naked.Something I didn’t know? That I’d end up pregnant. No one is more surprised by our off-the-charts chemistry than me. I’m a free spirit with a passion for design and a taste for the bohemian. Greyson is a cocky venture capitalist who’s as pretentious as his sharply cut … pretentious as his sharply cut power suits.
He owns half of Charleston, and has the other half at his beck and call. But the only place he owns me is in bed…or in the backseat of his car, boneless and begging for mercy.
We argue over contracts and costs all day long. Behind closed doors, however, we engage in a different kind of business. The kind that has me surrendering to his unique brand of dominance.
Our no-strings attached arrangement suits me just fine. Until I wake up one morning with what I think is a wicked hangover.
Only it’s not a hangover.
I thought Greyson was a typical “greed is good” grump. But when he demands to be involved in the life we accidentally created, I start to see a different side of him. One that’s more gentleman than jerk.Am I crazy to think we could be a family together? Or is making me fall for him just another one of his power plays?
SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN is a STANDALONE, full length, accidental pregnancy/enemies-to-lovers romance.

I absolutely adored Julia and Grey in Southern Gentleman! Jessica Peterson did a brilliant job with the surprise pregnancy, the realities of pregnancy and emotions that come with it for both partners.
Watching both characters grow into what they need to be to be successful parents, and maintain their careers felt real and not at all contrived as is the case with most surprise baby romance novels.
On top of all that, Grey and Julia are sexy AF! Their first kiss absolutely blew my mind, and the epilogue was divine
This series is such a fun sexy romantic read. I enjoyed it completely. I was excited to read this book, rich beautiful man, strong gorgeous woman going head to head. I love a story where the chemistry is off the charts, but the couple were never expecting to fall for each other. The fact that a pregnancy and a baby are thrown into the mix made this book a non stop read for me. This book had the feels, it’s funny and real. I didn’t expect this book to be so realistic. Life and love are difficult, but throw in a pregnancy and it’s an entirely different road to travel. This author paints a true picture of life and relationships and I found that refreshing. Incredible book!! Must read.!
Greyson and Julia butt heads right from the start, he comes across as a grumpy egomaniac, but despite not getting along on the job, their chemistry is off the charts! When she finds out she is pregnant, she is surprised to discover another side of him – one that is a loving family man, who welcomes her into his family – something she has been missing since her father passed away. Jessica Peterson does a great job of portraying the pregnancy experience in a realistic way along with the emotions of the characters. As always, the dialogue is witty, love scenes are steamy and the involvement of the other Southern series characters made it a book that I couldn’t put down.
They couldn’t be more different – Greyson Montgomery is cocky, buttoned up and use to getting his way, but when a work project partners him with the gorgeous, free spirited Julia Lassiter, their physical connection is instant and electric. They both know that they will have to play nice and shelve their intense attraction for the sake of the project, but damn that proves easier said than done. Jessica Peterson turns up the sizzle in the latest installment in the Charleston Heat series. 2 words: hate sex! Jessica delivers a story that not only has heat, but lots of heart. The road that Grey and Julia are on is filled with struggles and setbacks and the journey to their HEA is far from perfect, but it is real, relatable and honest. 5 stars!
I think what I love most about this book is that Grey and Julia are swoony, but also real. Their issues aren’t trivial and the way they work through them is authentic and realistic.
Grey is so swoony and growly – I love, love, love him! Julia is so fun and natural – I want to be friends with her and try to be more like her! The progression of their relationship is romantic and so sweet!
You won’t regret one clicking this one! And…then you’ll giggle like I do when I think of tuxedo pants. TDP for life!
It has been an incredibly long time since I’ve fallen so in love with a story, that as soon as I’ve finished the book, I’ve found myself starting it again.
Southern Gentleman has all the boxes on your favorite romance requirements checked off and more. Julia and Greyson, the stars of the story, finally meet and collide after both getting hired to work on the refurbishing of a local business. From the moment they are introduced, sparks fly. Both hard headed, they each refuse to back down from any sort of conflict which ends up having the tension broken in the best way – they finally sleep together.
Like the summary explains, Julia falls pregnant with Greyson’s baby but this isn’t your normal accidental baby story. Jessica Peterson hits the nail on the head for ALL of the real ups and downs with pregnancy. As a mother myself, I have never fully been able to relate to a pregnancy in a novel until now and BOY do I feel seen! What is absolutely beautiful is, not only Julia’s experiences with this pregnancy, but how she handles the interactions of those around her. Each relationship formed feels real and relatable. Each conversation natural and unforced. Which is something that not all authors are able to accomplish and done in a manner that leaves the reader wanting MORE.
I’ve enjoyed Jessica Peterson’s prior work but this one has made me a life long fan and supporter. I can not wait to see how the Charleston Heat series continues!
They thought their attraction would fade as soon as they gave into it but it grew into a new life. Now they have to navigate this new turn of events. Is falling in love even on the card for them?
This book hits you right in the heart and then stays there.
Julia was a force to be reckoned with. I love LOVE that she challenged Grey to be a better parent, that she expected 200% out of him because she was giving that much in their dynamics. I think male parents need to be upheld to a higher standard and Julia gave me all that goodness. WHAT A QUEEN!
I did think she was a bit unfair at this one point and she herself admitted it so brownie points for self realisations.
Greyson was such a complex character. I’d never anticipated the angst he was holding in. My God, my heart hurt for the man. I really appreciate that Ford was in his life cuz I don’t think there was any realisation in this adorable fool’s future.
This was such a heartfelt story with actual real issues women face during pregnancies. I adore Jessica for not shying away from the harsh realities of it. I think her honesty made this story such a real and raw one.
I’m honestly more excited for Ford’s book than my life itself. I NEED!
Hot! Hot! Hot! The chemistry between” Ju-ya” and “Grey” scorched my kindle!
Literature and romance professor Julia Lassiter does interior design on the side. She’s real and romantic, independent and creative, speaks her mind and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She listens to “My Romp with the Rogue” to unwind and to fuel her fantasies about…venture capitalist Greyson Montgomery. He’s brilliant, successful and rude, tall and devastatingly handsome with icy blue eyes and a demeanor to match, unless he’s provoked. He always gets his way. His glovebox is his “sinner’s chest”, full of cigarettes, whiskey and condoms.
These two aren’t going to heal each other’s wounds. It’s not love; it’s not even like. Just sex. Hate sex. One night. No kissing. No promises. Three months later and it’s a become regular thing until Julia discovers she’s pregnant! It’s going to take a lot of David Bowie, exorcisms and the love of family and friends to get them through this!
That’s when the real story begins! Julia takes us along on a realistic ride throughout her pregnancy, one typically not explored in romance novels. Greyson decides he’s all in, a full partner, at least as far as being a father. Being parents offers each of them a chance to find happiness and to have the family they’ve both missed out on. It also allows them to see each other through different eyes. Sociable, vibrant Julia is now depressed, exhausted, drained and struggles through her daily life. The “gentleman Satanist” who doesn’t think he deserves a happy ending (“the drunk driver of relationships) is surprisingly empathetic and considerate and drawn to her in ways he never imagined….
Go read it! You know you want to.

I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I’m such a big fan of this author. I’ve read everything she’s written and her talent for storytelling is phenomenal. Characters with depth and humor, flaws and honesty. This is absolutely my favorite book of the Charleston Heat series. You know how sometimes you read a book and want to shake a character because they just can’t communicate what’s in their head and heart? Not the case in this book. These people are gown-ups. It’s really refreshing! This one is going on my favorites for 2019 for sure. Enjoy Grey and Julia. They’ll charm you.
Is it weird to read a heroine with your name? Oh boy, was it ever.
But if I have to have a hero shacking up with someone with my name.. who else but Greyson?!
This book is but the next in a great line of Southern hot romances!
Enemies Julia and Greyson take out their energy on each other.. in the naked variety… and well, suddenly Julia isn’t feeling 100% anymore. A bun in the oven from the guy who infuriates you? Yikes!
Through lots of sweet moments and some hot ones, Jessica Peterson delivers a story of two people having to learn to communicate, overcome preconceived notions and letting down their walls in order to be the best they can be for each other.
It’s all you’ve come to love from this author and more!
This was such a fun read! I literally have a love-hate relationship with Greyson and Julia! One minute I hated them, and then another I loved them. They cracked me up! It was a beautiful story!
Not surprising that this book does not disappoint. The characters feel real. They chemistry is off the charts. Humor, sexy times, accidental baby, opposites attract! Lovveeeee it!
Greyson and Julia are like oil and water and they are both strong personalities! When those personalities mix, anything can happen.
Julia finds herself single and pregnant at 34. She has decisions to make and finds herself wanting to make a coparenting relationship with Grey work. I loved all the pregnancy details in the book and couldn’t help but reflect on my pregnancy journeys.
I don’t want to classify this book as enemies to lovers but the buildup of the relationship from the volatile start is definitely there! This series has been a pleasure to read and the supporting characters from other books really weave the Charleston experience!
Who doesn’t love a moody, sexy alpha Southern man with a misplaced understanding of “taking care” of those he loves? Greyson Montgomery checks all the boxes above and then some in this book. Once he meets his match in Julia Lassiter sparks fly and the love/hate these two feel for each other results in an accidental pregnancy.
But this isn’t your typical girl get knocked up by millionaire books. No, Julia is a strong woman with a tribe of women I would die to have in my corner. Her only request is that Grey either go all in co-parenting with her.
Grey has to learn how to compromise and work with a partner not overpower them to make this relationship successful.
I loved seeing how this two successful, independent people come together to create a life for their child. In addition to that, the love and support of their family and friends was just amazing and beautiful. I definitely recommend this book and I think Jessica did an amazing job creating this “family”.
I really had to give some thought to my review for Southern Gentleman. This book is a book hangover in the most wonderful way. I’m going to try to write a somewhat coherent review, so bear with me!
This book, to me, is amazing. I feel the author has such focus and understanding of what make a relationship tick that I imagine her, not sitting at her computer crafting this story, but out in a toolshed dismantling Grey and Julia’s relationship, curious to see what makes it tick. Yes, it is all that. The emotional maturity in this book is transparent and while Greyson has his confused moments and Julia has her expectations, it’s not always clearly communicated by them to each other, so they are a little held back by their wheelhouses, but their willingness to step out and consider the possibilities is what every woman dreams of in a relationship. Mr. Smith does read a little romance and this book will be gifted to him on release day. And to you, a reader reading reviews…grab this book with both hands; you’re going to love it and want to read it again and again.
Southern Gentleman is book three and was so good! I loved it! I loved Greyson. He was swoony and sexy. Julia was sweet and independent woman. Greyson and Julia had great chemistry. I loved them together. This is definitely a must read series!
Southern Gentleman is super steamy, super Southern romance that takes you through the trials of pregnancy. I really enjoyed the H, Greyson- He’s alpha and growly and that’s my favorite. I loved how his character developed throughout the story. Checking in with my other favorites from the Charleston Heat series is always a bonus, and it’s always nice to visit Charleston again. A good read!
Oh my ya’ll!!! Jessica Peterson absolutely knocked it out of the park with Southern Gentleman – it was just wonderful and amazing and I loved every minute of this story!!
Greyson……that man surprised me. I was expecting a total a*hole, but that softer side to him really snuck up on me. I knew that he would step up to the plate and take care of his own child, but the way he was there for Julia when she didn’t expect it really made my heart skip a beat. And those texts – gah, I loved his texting. Showed his vulnerable side, as well as his sense of humor. Don’t get me wrong, I loved his growly, dickishness; but good lord that man just made me swoon a million times over.
And Julia…..such a breath of fresh air. I adored her free spirit and no-nonsense attitude. She never once strayed from her true self – and I think that’s what really caught Grey’s attention (besides the obvious, outward beauty). I loved how she called Grey out on his crap, and didn’t once say things were ok when they were not.
Together…..Grey & Julia……oh man, were they incredible!! The banter between them – wow. Sometimes verbal sparring that happens between characters in books is almost better than physical foreplay, and these two together just lit a fire under the other that nobody else would ever be able to match. And that definitely translated into some insane chemistry and passion – I mean, hello…..those backseat hookups were crazy hot!
And as much as I love Eli & Olivia…….Grey & Julia and Southern Gentleman have easily become my favorite couple and story in the Charleston Heat series. And it’s easily one of my top 10 reads of the year!! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this one!!
And Ford……Grey’s brother……single dad story next, right?
This book didn’t disappoint, I’ve been on count down to read this.
Jessica has this beautiful way with words and weaving a story. I love the snippets of Olivia’s historical books it’s such a clever concept.
Grayson and Julia are I think my favourite couple so far. Grayson is one sexy alpha who I thought I would hate but I ended up loving more and more.
Jessica Peterson is my favourite find of 2018 and I’m so glad I’ve had the pleasure of reading these books.
I can’t wait for the next book
