Great author. Love the way she writes.
Spare Change – This isn’t the kind of book I usually read, and I completely enjoyed it. It tells the story of the journeys of two people, middle-aged Olivia and 11-year-old Ethan Allen Doyle. Spare change see’s the story of Olivia Westerly who thinks that eleven is the unluckiest number on earth, children weigh you down and cannot let herself fall in love. She married Charlie Doyle but, he passed away while they were on their honeymoom. Olivia is feeling down and lost without Charlie, then she meets Canasta and with the help of a concerned neighbor, who spread the word to the rest of the residents, Olivia decides she can live without Charlie. Then one day tragedy strikes Ethan Allen big time and he shows up on Olivia’s door step. If you want to know more you will need to read the book. I loved it!! Read – 2/19/2016 to 2/22/2016
Memory House – I have read other books by Bette Lee Crosby and they as well were great. Lots of times you read a book and you ask yourself what happened to the characters once the book is finished. Some of the characters from her previous books are brought back in this one. In my opinion this book can be a standalone book also. A beautiful story about the treasures of memories past being shared. This book will grab at your heart and helps you to see how important memories are. Memories must be shared so that they can be carried on for years to come by others. Bette is a great author!! I truly loved this book!! Read – 7/17/2016 to 7/21/2016
The Twelfth Child – She is born as a twin to a father and his wife. Her father is not one for female children and so her twin brother is her father’s favorite. Sadly, her mother dies at a very young age and she is raised by her father, and always biding for his attention in anyway she can. Abigail always enjoyed learning and while her mother was alive, she attended school and became very close with her teacher. As time passed after her mother’s death, her father wanted her to get married and to forget about an education. She informs her teacher of her father’s wishes and the teacher helps her by arranging for her to live and assist an elderly friend in Virginia. Abigail did keep in touch with her twin brother. Then one day the elderly friend lost her money and passed away which left Abigail homeless. Then one day a young woman after talking to Abigail offered her a job and Abigail became a dancer in a club. She did so good that she was able to pay her bills and get a place to live and then the club closed so she took to spending time at the library and ended up getting a job there where she met a nice young man but, then she found out he was married and she refused to fall in love again and lived a very lonely life. Her father dies leaving everything to her brother and it was a huge inheritance. Abigail’s brother dies shortly after their father and Abigail is given the inheritance. Then Destiny moves in across the street and she and Abigail become extremely good friends, so much so that Abigail decided to give Destiny full access and control of her checking account. Abigail also starts giving Destiny stuff that she no longer uses or needs. Destiny starts taking care of Abigail, taking her shopping, doctor etc.. Before Abigail’s brother dies a very distant cousin was coming around and constantly asking Abigail for money and she would give him $500.00 here and there. Then Abigail passes away but, before she does she writes a note to Destiny. You have to read this book to get the whole story and to find out what happens to Destiny after Abigail passes away. I truly loved this book!!!! Read – 8/25/2016 to 8/28/2016
