NOW A USA TODAY BEST SELLING BOOK Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.KallieI fell in love with him when I was seven. I scraped my knee, and he helped carry me inside. Our love story was the talk of the town until a woman told everyone she was pregnant with his baby. The only rational solution was to high tail it out of town and never come back.My best friend needed a place to hide, and … best friend needed a place to hide, and you can’t get much more covert than my family farm, so I came back. For her. It was supposed to be temporary, and I wasn’t supposed to see him, but that’s what happens when you live in a small town where everyone knows each other.
Jacob
Being the sheriff in a small town was never my dream. My father died and my older brother took off, so I had to be the one to look after my mother. I stayed. I fulfilled my duties as a son and I protected my hometown.
My life wasn’t perfect, but I was content. Until I locked eyes with a ghost from my past, Kallie. I thought it was my imagination, it couldn’t be. I loved her most of my life, but now I hated her.
The town gossip mill was going into overdrive. I kept my head down and my mind off of the woman who shattered my heart when she ran away. She didn’t give me a chance to explain, it didn’t matter to her then. I didn’t matter.
A second chance is never promised, but now that mine is right under my nose, I’m not sure I can take it.

Oh. My. God. This book will leave you in your feels. Kallie and Jacob have such a history. Both of them have come a long way and definitely right their wrongs. My heart breaks for both of them for many different but still the same reasons. Natasha, hit this one out of the park with her words.
Southern Chance is a sweet, emotional second chance romance, that I really enjoyed. It’s the first in Natasha Madison’s new Southern series. They do all focus on different couples, who we all met in the first one. But, they do need to be read in order. There’s a part towards the end that we won’t get answers to until book 2, which I anxiously await. Jacob and Kallie had a great high school romance, and they thought they’d be together forever, until a girl told everyone she was pregnant with his child. Kallie didn’t wait for answers, she just took off out of town, and didn’t return for 8 years. Jacob was upset when she originally left but now that she’s returned, he’s more angry than anything. They do not have a picture-perfect reunion, but she needs his help, with him being the sheriff in her town, so they reluctantly work together, and slowly begin to rekindle their relationship. These two were really good together and you couldn’t help but root for them to get it together. There were two great epilogues, which I adored. I would highly recommend this book, and I cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Kallie and Jacob- high school sweethearts, small town romance, second chance romance all wrapped up in one incredible Natasha Madison book!!
I loved everything about this book, how Natasha Madison takes us from present to the past, how the story unfolds, there is angst, there is love and when there is finally honesty- a happily ever after you didn’t see coming!!
Kallie comes home to help her best friend. A town she left years ago because of a broken heart. Jacob has always stayed in town! Once these two see each other again, a beautiful story develops!! I love all the details Natasha Madison adds to her books with incredible supporting characters and storyline!!
My head hated him.. Yet my heart loved him
Oh this one hit me in all the feels. I laughed, I cried, I screamed and I swooned. I throughly enjoyed this book.
I love small town romances and this was definitely a good one. The setting was beautiful. The drama was insane. The angst was gut wrenching and the ending was adorable.
Even though Kallie and Jacob’s story revolves around a miscommunication which is a storyline I normally dislike, I feel given there age when it happens and everything that happens after I actually enjoyed how it all played out even though many parts of the story broke my heart. I still found it a beautiful story and ended up loving both main characters so much.
There was a soft cliffhanger towards the end of the story that leads us in to book 2 which is about and entirely different couple and I cant not wait to read their story
3.5 STARS
You know it’s going to be a good day when you get to dive into one of Natasha Madison’s stories. You know it’s going to be an even better day, when you get to kick start a new series by this author. Well, would you look at that? Clearly, it’s been a good day.
Southern Chance is every thing I have come to expect and more from this author. This small-town romance will take you to the bottom of a bottle real quick. Southern Chance held some serious weight that had my heart in a million pieces. The emotions these characters portrayed were heart felt.
The situations they found themselves in were absolutely heart breaking even though most times they could have been avoided. I think the thing that bothered me most is, I wish they would have had better communication. They lacked that for better part of the book. There was a depth to this book, but not what I am used to by this author. Not saying it was bad, but I would have preferred more of the nitty gritty. In my opinion, it would have had a bigger in pact in the overall story-line.
I could feel to the depths of my soul that Kallie and Jacob were soulmates. Their chemistry was palpable. Their aura’s mashed well together. They shared a lot of the same qualities. In my terms they were perfect for each other.
With that said, Can Kallie and Jacob have a second chance at love?
* I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK
When Natasha said she was releasing a southern series I knew I had to jump on it. And let me tell you she didn’t disappoint.
Killie and Jacob are the amazing start to this series. This story will grip your heart and soul from the start and won’t let go till the end.
My heart broke for these two, along with Olivia (Killie’s best friend). It takes a lot to make me cry while reading and this book did that. The way Natasha brings these characters to life is a true gift. The emotions are raw and the angst is real and they all fall right off the pages.
Definitely can’t wait for book two in the series.
Jacob and Kallie had their whole life together planned out until one night it all fell apart. What they dreamed about was no more.
I gasped, cried, laughed and wanted to hug these two! They made my heart smile and they hurt it too. You can feel their emotions in every page.
Will all the secrets be revealed this time or is it too late for these two?
This is the first book in this series and its a brilliant start to it. Im already 100% hooked and addicted to it. Natasha Madison has brought her brilliant flair for humour and emotions to this must read.
Kallie and Jacob were best friends and childhood sweethearts until their Senior prom when Kallie’s heart was broken and she ran from the town and boy she loved unable to stay. Eight years later she is now back and having to face everything she left behind.
I am a complete sucker for these second chance romances and this was a good one. Its hard to write a review without giving the plot away. I did love Jacob he did make me swoon hard but I will be honest and say he made the biggest mistake ever and I wanted to kick him in the balls. I understand why he did what he did but I don’t understand not choosing the woman he loved knowing it would destroy their relationship, he could have handle the situation so much better.
I loved Kallie. She loves fiercely and I could honestly feel her pain being back in town and seeing the man she never forgot or stopped loving. She was so raw and her emotions felt so real, it gave me chills.
Once you start this one you will be hooked. I am away with my in-laws and had to sneak reading it as it was ssoooo good. So beautifully written roller-coaster of emotions. Mixed with some seriously powerful chemistry between Jacob and Kallie that can’t be denied for too long, this was one just that good. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and find out what happened with Casey and Olivia!!
5 stars and all the feels!
The beginning of a new series for Natasha Madison, something a little bit different from her, and oh, I loved it so much!
Before the gushing commences, I have to admit that I had some mixed feelings before I even started reading this book. The blurb alone freaked me out. I am not a fan of unnecessary angst, and from that blurb that’s what I thought we were going to get. But I love Natasha’s books, so there’s no way I wasn’t going to read it, and OMG, I’m so happy that I did! This book is dramatic and complicated… and yes, it’s angsty… but it’s good angst, that works to build the story and create an absolutely BEAUTIFUL second-chance-romance that completely swept me up in its charm, longing, emotion, and soul-deep love, and I absolutely loved this book!
Kallie and Jacob were childhood sweethearts, and the golden couple of their small, southern country town. They were it for each other, everybody knew it, and they were planning their life together when everything suddenly fell apart and Kallie left town, leaving them both shattered and broken-hearted.
Eight years later, Kallie’s best friend finds herself in trouble and needs a place to hide out and, figuring there’s no better place to hide her, Kallie brings her home to her family and the place she hasn’t been since she left all those years ago. Small towns being as they are, it takes no time at all for Kallie to run into a now very grown-up Jacob, and the chemistry between them is electric, except now it’s anger and hatred that burns between them, each of them still broken-hearted but furious about all that went down between them.
Despite their desire to keep away from each other, it doesn’t quite work out like that as Jacob, now the town Sherriff, steps in to protect Kallie, and we get these angsty, dramatic and chemistry-fuelled interactions that are part anger, part longing, and it’s so beautifully written. From both perspectives, we can see the pain that they are in, and it really brings the feels.
“The woman with the most beautiful smile in the world sits with her head hanging because I just broke her again.”
I love these characters so much. Kallie is strong, stubborn, intelligent, funny, and absolutely relatable. Her anger and pain at seeing Jacob again tore at my heart, and as her story unravels, I could understand her so much more, and I just loved her. And Jacob! SWOOOOOOOOOOON! He’s a man who has been living with only half of his heart since Kallie left him, and when she comes back it’s not easy, but you can feel the love between them, and it doesn’t take long before they do, too. The emotional rollercoaster is intense, and I was right there with them the whole way!
“When did you fall out of love with me?” I ask him softly.
“Never.”
I’m not going to give details, but I will say that yes, all of that anger and heartbreak could have been so easily avoided. However, they were young, they made mistakes, and they did what they felt they had to do. Was it frustrating? Sure… BUT, it paves the way for an epic reunion as they finally confront the past, and I quickly forgot my frustrations as it all unfolds. My heart was pounding and I had tears in my eyes as they found their way back to each other, and from then on it is an absolute total swoonfest as they go about making up for lost time and finding their way back to where they always should have been.
“I’ve never loved anyone but you … I’ve loved you my whole life.”
Along for the ride is Kallie’s best friend, Olivia, and her fantastically flirty brother, Casey, who will have their story told in the next book, as well as Jacob’s best friends Beau and Savannah, who will get book #3. It’s a fantastic introduction to the group, and with some complicated dynamics and backstories at play, I am so excited to read more about these characters.
Natasha has given us a beautiful story for Kallie and Jacob. A soul-searing, heart-wrenching second chance romance that will make you smile, cry and swoon. I felt everything, and I absolutely loved it!
I can honestly say, anyone that has read Natasha Madison before is going to walk away saying, WHO IS THIS WOMAN. Oh yes, this is still the same Natasha that brings the hotness to her stories and the heartwarming joy you are used to. But with this story, Natasha steps out of what we would call her norm to bring us a gritty, angsty, high energy, suspenseful story… along with all those other goodies.
Jacob is the boy next door. He is the hometown all star and that alpha male with a heart of gold and the mind to go with it. He is a man of commitment and will stand by those who need him most…no matter what. But as we discover, the secrets Jacob keeps will always haunt him. Life may be good, but some voids cannot be filled with status quo.
Kallie has always been the bell of the town. Loved by everyone she has always been the staple for the city…even as a young lady. Growing up for her came with more eye-opening shock than she should ever bear. Time has a way of healing some, but for others, time is nothing more than the device one uses to discover when they can begin to live again. Kallie shares that same strength of support for friends and family that seems to be a mainstay of good people. But will her support test her willpower? Will her demons destroy her?
Natasha totally grabbed me and held me tight with this story. Finding out this is Book One in the series only made me more excited. While our two heroes do find themselves, Natasha leaves us with so many more questions. And you can bet she intended to do that. To say I am waiting for Book Two is an understatement. My appetite was not just whetted, my appetite was put into overdrive. Where is the next one lady? I need more…… All the stars, on a story very well done.
When I found out Natasha Madison had a new series coming out, I was excited. I love her books, her writing, her stories. They grab you and keep you glued to the pages. Southern Chance is no different.
Southern Chance is set in the south and jumps between the past and the present. Kallie and Jacob were high school sweethearts destined to be together forever. A secret on prom night destroys their happiness and their hearts. They are both broken. Kallie leaves and doesn’t return until she needs to hide with her best friend, Olivia, for a bit. There is definitely some angst within the story, but just the right amount.
Kallie doesn’t want to see the boy who broke her heart, but in a small town that can’t be helped.
Jacob never got over Kallie, but lives his life being a dad to Ethan. The two have their moments to relive the past and find their way back. Their love is buried deep but will they let each other go a second time or have a happily ever after?
Southern Chance is filled with great characters and I cannot wait to learn more about Olivia and Kallie’s brother Casey in the next book in the Southern Series.
Southern Chance is a small town, second chance romance and not to be missed!
4 A Great Start to a New Series Stars!!!
One thing I can always count on from Ms. Madison are characters that I immediately connect with, a story that captures me and just the right amount of angst. Southern Chance, the first book in her Southern Series delivers on all fronts!
Kallie and Jacob are meant to be together, but holy moly talk about a train derailment right before they start their forever lives together. It was gut wrenching for both of them, but especially Kallie. My heart was breaking for her. To be hurt the way she was absolutely devastated her. And for Jacob his life changes beyond anything he was ever thinking about. And when these two come back together several years later, their second chance is potentially in their grasp.
This book is beautifully written, and I felt every emotion. As Jacob and Kallie are reconnecting, we’re getting the full story as to the what’s and why’s from all those years ago and it was truly overwhelming for me so just imagine how it affected our H/h.
This story is a definite must read but know going in you’re going to have so many ups and downs with this couple but in the end, it’s all going to have been worth it!
So much heart! This story took me on a rollercoaster of emotions and I went from one end of the spectrum to another. But I could not put it down. The angst had me chewing my nails. I cried, I laughed, I got angry and frustrated, and aroused all at once at times. Jacob and Kallie had so much hurt between them that could have been easily avoided if they just communicated but you can’t help but fall in love with them because you can feel the chemistry and love and the hurt, guilt, and longing. I love the other characters as well and can’t wait to see how their stories unfold in the coming books.
Wow. Kallie and Jacob will take your feelings through the ringer! A wonderful second chance story of two people who loved each other hard as teenagers and a friendship that ruined it all. Kallie coming home is the last thing she wants. But being a small town she keeps running in to Jacob. It’s inevitable that they finally have it out and she learns the truth. At first I was annoyed with Kallie because she wouldn’t just stop and listen to Jacob…even when she came home. But then I tried to remember how I was as a teen and I probably wouldn’t have stopped to listen either. Anyway, excellent story and awesome start to this new series. I can’t wait to find out more!
Oh Natasha Madison you evil, beautiful woman. There’s a shortage on tissues and here I am bawling my eyes out while reading Southern Chance. Brace yourselves for a read that does more than hit you in the feels. It’s closer to a clam kick to the feels than just a punch. I ugly cried. Big, nasty, red faced, snotty ugly cried while reading this. I thought Natasha had delivered emotion and epic before, but that must have just been her warm up to the masterpiece that is Southern Chance.
This book is a full on emotion journey with characters written so perfectly its like you’re side by side with them feeling every impact and every blow they endure. All of the pain is one thousand percent worth it for the kind of love Kallie and Jacob have though. It made every blotchy, red faced, tear filled moment worth it to see them finally get the happiness they deserved. Their story is so much more than just a second chance. It’s about love that lives beyond the ugly, beyond distance, beyond time. It’s about the kind of love that will always prevail.
And now it’s about the fact I NEED THE NEXT BOOK RIGHT FREAKING NOW NATASHA! YOU HEAR ME?! NOW!
Love ya, mean it!
Southern Chance was the first book in Natasha’s Southern series. This was a little different from anything else I have read from her but she knocked it out of the park! It was full of angst, mystery and second chances.
Kallie’s heart was broken when Jacob, her longtime boyfriend, was involved in a pregnancy that did not involve her. She couldn’t face her friends and family, so she ran. It had years since she had been back, but when her best friend needed a place to lay low, they fled to her childhood home. Kallie hoped that their small town would be big enough to hold both of them, but she was proved wrong. Of course she saw him the minute she was back in town.
Jacob couldn’t believe his eyes, he hadn’t seen her in a decade. Why would Kallie come back after all this time? She was the last person he ever cared to see again, his hatred for her had grown over the years. He planned on ignoring her but when his job as sheriff required him to keep her safe, would he be able to do it?
Southern Chance was such a fun, sweet read! I started it before going to bed thinking I would read just a chapter or two…well, I finished it There was a small cliffhanger that had me wanting more but Natasha made up for it with the swoonworthy epilogue!
Wow. I absolutely could not put this book down. There was mystery and intrigue, and so many emotions. I loved seeing how the story played out between Jacob and Kallie. I’m dying for the next book!
Holy what a second chance romance! The pain that both Kallie and Jacob had endured to get to where they are. The whole lead up to why things happened the way they did is tragic. I was even messaging my friend who is a blogger if she had read hers and was raging over parts! I felt the hurt and the pain that Kallie went through. While I wanted to smack Jacob upside the head for what he did, once all the cards were on the table, you understand why. He is such a stunning man who goes for what he wants even when he knows it could blow up in his face. Their connection is magnetic even after 8 years. The sizzle and the passion. I loved the story concept as well because it left me wanting more and answers to everything!
Overall, this is an amazing start to a new series by Madison. There is grit and passion. There is mystery and twists that make you go wtf just happened. I am dying to know what will come next. I think it is just amping up with lots more to come!
5 Star Read!!!
I am not always a fan of second chance romance, but Natasha Madison knocked this story right out of the park! I LOVED IT!
Kallie and Jacob show us what true love is all about. They spend 8 years apart, but once they come back together all the same feelings are present. What they both thought was hate, was just the pain of losing each other. Their love never left.
Kallie has been in pain for 8 years thinking something of the love of her life that just wasn’t true.
Jacob has been in pain for 8 years not being able to tell the truth to the love of his life.
When Jacob gets his second chance, he stops a nothing to make sure Kallie knows she was always the one.
Despite the situation, Jacob made a commitment to be the best father to Ethan, and he has fulfilled that duty and then some.
Not a big fan of Savannah, but I hope my opinion changes of her in the coming books.
Can’t wait for book 2!
Southern Chance is book 1 in the new Southern Series by Natasha, and she certainly kicks it off with a bang!
“Secrets never stay hidden in the south…”
Kallie and Jacobs story is one of young love, secrets and lies and heartbreak, but as the story unfolds it becomes one of love and second chances. It’s about letting go of the past and moving forward to the future you always wanted.
Kallie and Jacob had it all. They were loved young dream, ready to leave high school and go off to college together. But just as their dreams are about to come true, a secret destroys everything they hold dear, shattering all hope for the future they held at their fingertips.
Kallie left town, vowing never to return to the place where her heart was splintered into a million painful pieces, but circumstances beyond her control bring her back to the very place where her life was destroyed.
Jacob lost a piece of himself when Kallie left, but the one thing that tore them apart was the one thing that held him together the past 8 years. Now she’s back in town, and as much as he tries to make himself believe he doesn’t want her, his heart has other ideas.
WOW!!!! There aren’t many words that can really, truly describe how amazing this book really is! Natasha continuously blows us away with her addictive words, full of pain and emotion, of adoration and laughter. With every new release she sets the bar so high, yet each time she smashes through that bar to dizzying new heights of masterful talent! This book does exactly that, and I’m in awe of her.
10 PHENOMENAL STARS!!!!
