This series of three books need to be read in order as the stories flow into one another.
This series is a bit different from the normal supernatural beings. At first I wasn’t sure if I was comfortable with differences; but, the more I read the more I liked it. It has a lot of insightful lessons, action, betrayal, remorse, perseverance, and love. A great series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a wonderful addition to this series! It is well written, with the girls learning so much more and just enough action to make things truly interesting. There is plenty of magic and a little romance as the sisters grow and learn, becoming what they were prophesied to.
Souls of Three by Ashley McLeo is an awesome story to read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading urban fantasy.

The story continues with Evelyn deciding to stay in New York City to seal a deal her adoptive father was working on. The man they were doing business with, Roman Simons, asked Evelyn out for a drink after the third late night. When Roman takes Evelyn for a romantic weekend, And so the troubles begin for the three sisters as Lily and Sara along with the rest of their family with the help of the New York Coven, work on rescuing the kidnapped Evelyn. This story ends in a cliffhanger. Highly recommended.

This is book two of The Starseed Trilogy and the storyline expanding with more about the triplets, Evelyn, Lily and Sara. They are witches, as they have just found out and all have different magical abilities, which they need to learn how to use. Each has lived with adoptive parents, after their birth mother Brigit, gave them away, to ensure a prophecy about the three of them would have a chance to come true. Evelyn has to break the news to her father in particular, that she needs an extended time off work in the family business, which also coincides with her meeting a young businessman called Roman, who it seems her parents thought she might like! Evelyn knows that she needs to get back to Brigit and the others in Ireland to continue her witchy training and to become as strong as possible with her magic and learn to work with her two sisters. Instead of going back to Ireland straight away, she decides to stick around and help her father with this new and big account and gets involved with Roman. She believes she is going away on a romantic weekend with him, until she finds out he has betrayed her and left her in the hands of some of the Acolytes of Hecate.
She is tortured and has to endure horrific dark magic spells, as the enemy seeks to gain knowledge of the whereabouts of an ancient tome. Twin vampires Empusa and Amon have her in their hold and have an offensive smelling werewolf Felix guarding her in the basement dungeon at Peacock Manor. Evelyn is soon to be introduced to Noro, the fata acting on the behalf of his king Dimia, who is looking to taking control of all the supernaturals beings on Earth and to bring his own people to Earth, away from their own dying realm. This battle has gone on for millennium and the former fata incursion failed and the prophecy didn’t have a chance to come true. Now Brigit is informed that Evelyn has been taken and it is up to all of her friends and her remaining two daughters to rescue Evelyn and deal with the betrayal of one of Brigit’s closest and oldest friend. Brigit and the family have no idea where Evelyn is being held and they will have to work quickly to get her before she is too injured or possibly even killed by their enemies. At the end of the story, Evelyn will reveal a new presence she has been made aware of called her pneuma, which is covered a lot more in the next book and are an important part of the tale. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
While a bit darker then the last book, it was still a good story as the sister have to deal with more danger and betrayal and figure out what is going on. Lots of action kept the story going and made it fun to read. Had to see what would happen and how the sisters would figure it out and what they would end up doing. Liked learning more about the sisters and hoe they fit into everything. Good side characters too.
Interesting series so far; a bit slow at times, but still a good read. This is book 2, so I’d recommend reading book one before this one; book 1 had a lot of the setup for this series. Cool magical elements, and fun, dangerous scenarios. In this book, feisty/elitist sister, Evelyn, gets her POV told, when she finds herself in a dangerous situation away from her newly acquired sisters. It’s good to see Evelyn in a different light; I didn’t care for her much in the first book, but I appreciate her sass when it’s warranted. Lily still has a POV as well; she has her annoying moments, but does have some growth. Third sister, Sara, is still around too; so far, she’s the one that is more on the supportive side than the leader side, I look forward to seeing her come into her own in the third book. All the girls are still learning about their witch magic, and the whole prophecy thing, so there’s still a bit of a learning curve they need those powers to survive. The magical powers are cool, and the enemies are interesting. Overall, a good story! Looking forward to reading the finale!
Fully paranormal story – pulls you in from the first pages. I like fantasy stories, so the witch and paranormal perspective was standard, but adding in the alien component definitely gives a different twist.
“Souls of Three” is the second instalment in “The Starseed Trilogy” by Ashley McLeo, a delightful YA paranormal urban fantasy story that evolves around three sisters, who happened to be witches, and descendants of a powerful Irish lineage.
After coming together and discovering their true roots as McKay witches, the three sisters are still coming to terms with their powers and their magical heritage. Evelyn is staying in New York and eventually falling into the hands of Noro and his minions, and Lily is dealing with grief and loss after the events of “Prophecy of Three” (Book 1), while Sara tries to be the pacifier between both sister. Although Lily is the main POV in the story, the book also adds some chapters told from Evelyn POV, which serves to further explore into Evelyn character and struggles, adding more danger and a slighter darker tone into the series.
Ashley McLeo series is fast-paced and action-packed, while still giving the story enough place to breath, and construct a solid, detailed, and accurate background story, that successfully weaves historical facts with mythology and overall fantasy lore into a very satisfying introduction to the series, that while borrowing some of the known ‘Charmed’ lore, is not mere version of it, on the contrary it evolves into a fully original multilayered story that is not only informative and interesting, but first and foremost entertaining as any good fantasy story should be.
Great story!
The girls Lily, Sara and Evelyn are given some time off from their magical training. Lily and Evelyn decide to go home to be with their adoptive families for two weeks then they must return to continue their training for the battle to come. Sara opts to stay at Fern Cottage with their birth mother and their aunts as life as not been as good to her as her sisters.
When it is time for the girls to return home only Lily makes it back on time as Evelyn needs to stay at home a little longer as her father’s company has just signed a new contract and Evelyn has been put in charge. Evelyn is also having a whirlwind romance with the new client. Well, that is until she is kidnapped and held in a magically warded cell.
Lily and Sara are very determined to find their sister and bring her home but they are not more determined than their birth mother. So with the help of their adoptive families and others, they set out to find Evelyn and bring her home. But the task may not be as easy as they are hoping as the whole place is magically warded to keep anyone out. Can the girls save their sister? Will they find out where she is before time runs out?
This has been one magical wild ride with all the witches with different magical powers as well as daemons, elves, vampires, werewolves and all kinds of paranormal creatures. But you know if you think about it the paranormal creatures wouldn’t be anything without a great author backing them up. And while I loved reading Prophecy of Three book one in the Starseed trilogy I think Souls of Three book two was so much better. Ashley’s writing just gets better and better with each book. I can’t wait to read the Rising of the Three the next book in the Starseed trilogy to see where Lily, Sara, Evelyn and all the characters take us next and where they take us.
If you are into witches, vampires, werewolves and other paranormal creatures with lots of magic and fighting as well as mystery and suspense then you are going to love Souls of Three but you may want to check the first book Prophecy of Three before reading Souls of Three because you don’t want to miss a thing.
In the second book of the Starseed Trilogy, McLeo amps up the tension and the action. In this dark urban fantasy, the three witch sisters are exploring their new powers and trying to find how to fit into their newly discovered magical world. Lily is tortured by grief, Evelyn is feeling shackled by her new destiny, and Sara is trying her best to keep the peace between her sisters.
The focus of book two is Evelyn, the sexy, rich siren who runs her family’s business and falls for a handsome stranger. A relationship that puts both her and her magical family in peril and introduces a host of new characters and settings. The entities who have infiltrated the modern world are well-rounded and bring an otherworldly essence to a story already filled with paranormal and magical creatures. McLeo has used her multitude of characters effectively creating allies and enemies, victims, and heroes born from destiny, tragedy, and circumstance. The interaction of her characters is exciting and interesting as each brings a special dynamic to the story.
The series takes on a darker tone in this book with the sisters marred by danger, and betrayal. Darker characters and subject matter bring a raw, enigmatic tone to the story line. Fast-paced and loaded with action and twists Souls of Three will keep the reader engaged until the last page has turned. McLeo seamlessly continues the story in this book, opening the plot further, rounding out characters, and creating a backstory that helps alleviate any reader questions from book one.
Souls of Three is filled with Irish myth and exceptional settings and is sure to entice readers who love witchy reads, fateful romance, betrayal, and heroines who are strong yet flawed. The continuation of the Starseed Trilogy does not disappoint, and I am looking forward to the final book in this dark magical tale.
Wow, that was a good, complex & emotive read
We definitely got to know all 3 sisters better in this book. We meet Evelyn not long after her return to her adoptive family in the States. She has not told them she’s returning to Ireland in less than two weeks nor has she admitted to them she’s a witch or a triplet, let alone all of the ‘fated to save humanity’ in a millennia old prophecy stuff!!
Lily is excited to be returning to Ireland, she’d found the guilt & her family’s grief over losing Em to be too much. They discussed it constantly, as you’d expect. But as she died at her hand it was hard to bare & they wanted her to give them a play by play of the events!!!
Sara has been busy at the Cottage in Ireland with their ‘Birth Mum’. Though not as much magic as expected was accomplished it was time well spent A lot of bonding has occurred & other work has taken place with plans laid down for the triplets new training!!
During the course of this book the sisters almost seem destined to make similar mistakes as their Namesakes & the Fata Sisters they are born to replace in the Destined fight for Humanity’s survival. They may need an Army & a core of iron wrapped in love to pull them together for this installment!!!
We get to meet many new characters in this story. Roman & Alfred look to be important names to keep an eye on The girls biggest danger to date, the Twin Vampire’s, may pop up at any moment & they need to train to fight them or they’ll die before this ‘thing’ gets started!!
This beginning sets most of the families up for upset, hurt & betrayal ~ real & perceived. Sister against sister, friend against friend, lines are drawn …. Who’s going to blink first? *Gulp*
Yep, that’s exactly how I felt!!! It’s a pain filled, fast paced & fascinating read, yet again so …. Please hurry with ‘Book 3, Rising of Three’ Ashley McLeo (No I’m joking, as like all avid readers we’d rather wait for an exceptional book than get an early released sub par one )
A 4.5 star read for me. I highly recommend it for any age group above the suggested one too, I’m loving the series
