Brock has done it again! This book was just as amazing as the first! This is hands down one of my favorite book series! Miranda Brock is an excellent writer! This is a must read!
It is a skilful writer who develops the characters in such a way that the reader visualises them in all their different expressions, holds their breath in moments of suspense, and only realises they were doing so when they let that breath go.
Miranda Brock is one such writer.
The sequel to Souls Discovered, this is the second in Miranda Brock’s The Keepers’ Way series for young adults and older. Brock has crafted another exciting and deeply involving story in which The Keeper, Autumn, and her Searchers confront the terrible powers of evil in their efforts to rid the world of those very powers. There is plenty of action to keep the story going, and there are a number of absolutely gut-wrenching moments that keep the reader absolutely enthralled.
Just as Autumn and her Searchers know each other better and have a stronger connection in the second book, the reader also feel a stronger bond with the central characters because they, too, know them better now. I didn’t even realise how much I had invested emotionally in this book until I finished it.
After reading Book 1, I knew better than to expect a predictable ending in the sequel, and Souls Asunder does not disappoint. I’m so keen for Book 3 and dead keen to know what happens next.
Miranda Brock has definitely cemented her place in my shortlist of “one click authors” whose books I will buy in a heartbeat.
Loved this book! Autumn and her Keepers I was very sad from the last book to this book but Miranda turned it around for the good and then left you hanging again, but in a good but not so good way. Cannot wait for next book though.
Fantastic follow up!
Souls Asunder picks up right where Souls Discovered leaves off.
It was great to see Autumn develop deeper relationships with her Searchers. There are so many characters to dig into! To see them all out in the world, teaming up with ‘normal’ people, was a nice change from book one. The fact that Autumn and her Searchers have a personal stake in things helps ramp up the tension.
I was a little leery of Autumn’s relationship with Ronan at first, but was happy/sad with how things turned out (I may have shed a few tears about it.
Book 2 was definitely more emotionally charged than the last, and I think that’s why I was more drawn to it (That, and becoming used to the 3rd person omniscient as the narrator). This felt more like the meat of the story. I think the series is more like a narrative that’s broken up into 3 parts, working best as a cohesive whole. I’m glad to be reading it now that the series is complete, so I can read them together! I feel this is the best for this series 😉 .
I’ve already leapt into book 3!
This is the second book in the Keeper’s Way series, and the action is still going strong. Autumn is still dealing with the events in the first book while still fighting the good fight. I just love all the great action in this book and how we get to know the Searchers better. I do have to admit I was disappointed that Autumn became a little more weak in this one; she seemed to regress a little becoming insecure in her role as leader. However, she did have a lot to deal with, and she did seem to pick up some strength at the end. I’m sorry if I seem a little vague, but I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t read the book before. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series, and I do highly recommend this to readers who enjoy young adult/new adult novels! I was provided a complimentary copy of the e-book which I reviewed voluntarily.
