Five guys. One bar. And a whole heap of sexy trouble…Sawyer Landry is sexy, rugged, charming… and did I mention sexy? Back in college, we were best of friends – which meant I secretly hid an epic unrequited crush, while he dated every other girl on campus… and then told me all about it the morning after. Now I’m back in Chicago for the first time in years, and Sawyer is determined to rekindle … determined to rekindle our friendship. I swore, I wouldn’t put my life (and heart) on hold for him again, but just one look at his handsome face and I know, he’s still the only man for me.
But this time, things are going to be different. No more sitting around, waiting for him to realize his dream woman is right in front of him. No, I’m going to make him see, I’m not just one of the guys anymore.
But can I really go from sidekick to soulmate? And will this playboy bachelor realize, true love is waiting – if he’d only take a chance?

Fantastic characters and amazing story. I have loved all of the characters and books in this series, but Sawyer and Gabi’s story is my favorite. Their journey of coming back together after all of the years apart was exciting to watch. The book was full of steam, chemistry, romance and love.
Sawyer and Gabi, are reacquainted after years apart. They had been best friends at college. Gabi finally gets her chance with Sawyer but he is not a fan of love or long term relationships.
The great characters from the previous books ensure that there is a nice continuous feel to the story.
I loved Gabi, she was such an interesting character and I felt so bad for her having unrequited love for Sawyer and I had to admit she came back into this story a much stronger person than when she left. I liked the connection that both her and Sawyer had.
Oh my god as much as I loved Sawyer he was a blind annoying fool when it came to Gabi, the amount of times he hurt her by not realising her feelings. Although I do have to say not all the blame and annoyance goes to Sawyer like Gabi should have manned up and told him how she felt. I was so frustrated with Sawyer at times, but I loved how much he cared for Gabi and his friends.
Gabi oh man she broke my heart through this, I was nearly crying for her.
Emily was hilarious and she was a brilliant character have in there throughout this book it made me laugh so much! I also loved seeing the other characters from the other novels in this story. I loved seeing Chase, Kelsey, Alex, Emmerson as well as Dante and Hayley. It was nice to see that big family together although not real family still the bond there between them all.
Sawyer at the end so romantic, the end was one of my favourite endings and it was so sweet and cute.
(Also I know I’m not going into much detail I don’t want to spoil anything for you guys.)
Soulmate by Katie McCoy is the fourth book in her Rascals series. Told in dual POV between Sawyer (Who you would have met previously in the series) and Gabi, his college best friend and the girl with the unacknowledged, unrequited crush. Well-written and well-paced this book is funny, emotional and sexy.
After five years away, Gabi is back in Chicago, having left to escape her best friend who was completely unaware of her feelings for him. But she is back and ready to build a new life back in her home town. When a near death experience ends with her in none other than Sawyers arms she feels like maybe the universe if having fun with her at her expense.
Sawyer lost his best friend years ago when she moved away after graduation and ghosted him. Now that she is back he is experiencing all kinds of feelings towards her that are far outside the spectrum of BEST FRIEND. Determined to not ruin the best friendship he’s ever had with the one person he knows he can’t live without Sawyer is fighting all the feelings towards Gabi, even if it is making him a sullen and moody person to be around.
Quirky and funny and very, very sexy – I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Enjoy!
I am so enjoying this series! Each book can be read as a stand-alone.
Soulmate is the story of Gabrielle and Sawyer. Best friends, and for Gabrielle, unrequited love. So when the opportunity arose for her to escape watching Sawyer go from girl to girl. She jumped on the opportunity.
Flash forward five years and Gabi is back in Chicago. Fate intervenes. Sawyer has missed her and wants what they had back in college. He wants his best friend back. Gabi wants more!
Gabi is a fantastic character! She isn’t afraid to use everything in her personal arsenal to show Sawyer what a more than friendship they can be. She is brave in open and honesty with Sawyer.
Sawyer as a twisted sense of what love is. He sees it as a thing that destroys and hurts. And even though the sexual chemistry between Gabi and Sawyer is off the charts hot. He continues to believe that his relationship with Gabi is a true friends with benefits relationship. And he thinks he is happy with that.
It was great reading familiar secondary characters from the previous books in the series. But they don’t overwhelm and take away from the main story, they only add more!
I am so looking forward to the next book in this series!!
I enjoy a good friends to lovers book and this one fit the bill. Sawyer and Gabi were best friends, but Gabi had to take a fresh start. Now fate has reunited these two. Can Gabi convince Sawyer it’s worth the risk of falling in love? This is the fourth book in the series. If you haven’t read this series yet you’re missing out! I liked Sawyer and Gabi because they have a lot of history and their friendship adds so much to the book. Though there were a few times I wanted to knock some sense into Sawyer. I’m eagerly anticipating the fifth and final book. It looks like it’s going to be a good one!
A sexy friends to lovers romance that’s fun, flirting, emotional and sweet. Sawyer’s closed off to his romantic emotions, only having long term relationships with his friends including his college BFF, Gabi. She’s gone from a self-conscious, shy girl to a confident, bold woman that shines bright. Gabi is a terrific character that’s loyal, smart and won’t settle for less what she deserves from Sawyer. But will he take that step with her? This is a quick easy read that held my attention with interesting characters. I really liked Gabi and her chemistry and connection with Sawyer. On one front, Sawyer is a sexy, hunky business owner with great hands and on the other he’s really in his head with emotions that seemed counter to his badass persona. I didn’t read the series in order or in it’s entirety and enjoyed this one as a stand-alone. The author didn’t give away too many details about the previous stories. I look forward to reading the others and the next story in the series. Love the Rascals! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Hhmmm….for the very first time, I’m having trouble with how to write a review for this particular author’s books. Seriously. There’s just soooo much I want to say about Soulmate, but I would be revealing way too many spoilers if I did that. And I don’t want to be a dick. So here’s my attempt. Just bear with me…
First off, let me just say that I really, REALLY liked the book. There…out with the easy part. Deep down, I was thoroughly entertained and liked the entire plot of the storyline. The writing was flawless, like all Katie McCoy books that I’ve read. The characters’ dynamic together was explosive, playing off the friends-to-lovers vibe that works well for stories like this one. The development and evolution of Sawyer and Gabi’s relationship was effortless, and the desire and passion that leapt off the pages was wholly scintillating, scorching hot, and emotionally driven.
BUT. And I really hate to throw this ‘but’ in here, BUT I wanted to throttle both characters repeatedly throughout the span of reading their story. No joke. I wanted to scream, rage, and strangle both of them for entirely different reasons. This story messed with my emotions and outlook on this book the entire time. One minute, I was absolutely sure this was another 5-star read for me. Then in the next chapter, I was about ready to throw my kindle across the room and yell hysterically. I won’t go into great detail about WHY I had this strong of a reaction – remember, I don’t want to be a dick – but let me just say that as many positive qualities both characters had, their downfalls were just as big.
Goodness gracious. I don’t know what I was expecting out of Sawyer and Gabi’s story, but it wasn’t this. But after reading it, I’m glad I had such a profound reaction to it. It tells me that the author’s ability at engaging her readers and capturing their attention is a quality not all authors possess. This book will linger with me and make me even more anxious for the next, and final, book in the Rascals Series.
Pick up Soulmate now. It won’t disappoint!
Soulmate by Katie Mccoy is the fourth book in her absolutely addictive Rascals series. I have loved following the love exploits of the five college buddies who opened up a neighborhood bar called Rascals.
In Soulmate, readers get Sawyer’s story. Sawyer is the strong, quiet, furniture builder who is a total commitment phobe. Gabi, who has just moved back to Chicago, is one of Sawyer’s best friends. She is Sawyer’s only female friend. However, upon her return, Sawyer struggles with the fact that his best mate is now super sexy. How will the self-proclaimed king of the one-night stand keep his distance and maintain their friendship?
I really enjoyed both Sawyer and Gabi even though I felt that Sawyer needed a brick wall to fall on his head and Gabi needed to make Sawyer work a bit harder to gain her forgiveness. They’re perfect together, and miserable apart. I really appreciated Gabi’s successful career transition storyline in addition to the romance. Soulmate is a delightful friends-to-lovers romance with a few nice twists and a slew of great characters.
As with the other books in the series, Soulmate can be read as a standalone novel. I do feel the books are more enjoyable if you read them all though. I enjoyed Gabi and Sawyer as a couple.
First lets talk about this cover. I think it might be my favorite. I love Sawyer, but let’s be honest he is a douche with his head up his @$$.
We love him, but come on dude, really? You can’t be that clueless.
This is a friends to lovers story. And they are generally a hit or miss for me. This one was a hit but ONLY b/c neither was sleeping with someone else, that is my biggest pet peeve in friends to lovers books where each love the other but don’t want to ‘ruin the friendship’ so they date others while pining for the friend. Anyway, this was NOT that. Yes Sawyer hard headed and I LOVE that the gang rally around Gabi. Now I wonder if we’ll get a spin off starting with Emily in her new city. Of course AFTER we finally get a Hayley and Dante story. I’ve wanted that one second and it’s LAST. Katie is killing me. It better be one hell of a story b/c Dante needs a swift kick in the head and I have a feeling that Mike might just be that kick.
Sawyer has been Emmy’s best friend back in college. They met in the most weird circumstances, but they hit it off. It didn’t take long for Emmy to fall in love with him. Problem is that, Sawyer would do any girl but her. She’s invisible to him. She’s his buddy. So, what she did after graduation was to move far away from him without telling him.
Years later, she was back in Chicago. Someone needed her. Running into Sawyer was last thing in her mind, but fate has other plans and Chicago is so small they just have to bump into each other. The man can still take her breathe away. But no way she was going to sit there and wait for him to notice her, she’d do something this time, and make him see what he’s been missing.
But what happens when Sawyer is not ready for a relationship?
I enjoyed reading it! I like Emmy – her determination, her love for her mom, and her unwillingness to settle for less than what she deserves. Sawyer is oblivious, and it is half-funny, half frustrating. I love how easy they go back to friendship, and how smooth the transition was – until Sawyer decided to screw it up (lol). But he did redeem himself at the end, and boy, he was good.
Sometimes, you look for love in far away places and you rarely notice that it is just right there beside you. I am just glad Sawyer finally noticed it before it was gone. Yay!
Soulmate is fun, sweet, sexy and undeniably good. I can’t wait for Dante’s story!!!!
