A cold hearted alien… scorching hot chemistry… and a fated mate bond too strong to be denied! There’s nothing left in Raze. No love, no hate, nothing except the duty that he owes his people. But when he meets a fascinating and tough human woman on a barren planet something deep inside comes back to life and for the first time in years he yearns for more. When a mission for the Sol Intelligence … mission for the Sol Intelligence Agency gets out of hand, Sierra will need to use every skill she has and work with a mysterious alien warrior who awakens an unquenchable desire within her. He’s cold and forbidding, but when he looks at her there’s a fire in his eyes that opens up a whole world of possibilities.
The chemistry between Raze and Sierra is too hot to ignore, even if it should be impossible for a mate bond to form between them. But if Raze’s emotions fully return before he claims his denya, he might end up dead for good. There is no fighting destiny, especially for a doomed Detyen, and Raze already cheated fate once. To be with Sierra he’ll have to do it again, or neither of them will make it out alive.
The Detyen Warriors series brings you kick butt heroines, alpha alien heroes, fated mates, and relationships strong enough to span the galaxy!

“Was she flirting with him? The emotionless alien who was happy to kidnap her until she suggested a better plan? – 24% Soulless”
Soulless is book one in the Detyen Warriors series by Kate Rudolph & Starr Huntress. There’s action, suspense, and intense moments.
Sierra is resourceful and intelligent. She accepts that Raze is her mate without much fuss.
Raze is a Detyen who has given up his soul, is cold, and sees the world only in black and white.
It’s a fated-mate storyline. Raze and Sierra were a great couple. You can’t help but feel for Raze and his situation, in being forced to give up his soul, in order to live and fight for his society. It was so interesting watching him come back to life.
The author does a great job peeking your interest into the Detyen race. What we learn about their home world and that they must renounce their souls to survive, if they haven’t found their soul mate, leading to the soulless aspect in the story.
I wasn’t happy with the secondary characters aka the other woman who criticized the Detyen Warriors. I get having bad things happen to you, but that is no excuse to act in a bad way.
The story does end with a clear setup for book 2, so it’s kinda a cliffhanger leaving use with a few unanswered questions, but the romance is concluded.
All and all Soulless was nice introduction to the series and it peeked my interest into the Detyen race though it’s not that memorable of a story. I may or may not continue the Detyen Warriors series.
Rated: 3 Stars
I love the Detyen stories. I mean, those poor people who have to find their mates before they turn 30 are both sad and hopeful. I always really hope for each of them to find their person.
This one, though, tore me up. The fact that he literally gave up his soul to live past 30? Wow. That amount of sacrifice is just an amazing one.
Anyway, I loved this story. I’m looking forward to more.
I am totally hooked. Thank you for continuing the series with the detyen warriors! I have loved following all there stories. I loved the characters and the storyline. cant wait to get the next one in the series. Keep up the good work Kate Rudolph.
New strand of Detyen hotties to lust after! After their world was obliterated not every Detyen was happy to sit back and settle on a new planet. Some took up posts on a secret installation were they train to prevent the same enemy they have faced coming back and finishing the job they started.
But these warriors have a mighty expensive way to get out from the ticking time bomb they become when they don’t find their mate, they give up their soul. They essentially become android like, whilst still retaining their own bodies. Everything is strategic, emotionless decision based actions. But on mission to recover date from a ship lost during the initial destruction of their planet, Raze and his team-mates come across some pirates and a detachment of human spies!
Sierra was saved from the wastelands by her soldier father and will be forever grateful. But he does not get to look down on her choice of career. She is a damn good recon officer (spy). But on her latest mission she forges an unlikely alliance with a giant green, but undeniably sexy, alien. They have a chance to save some trafficked females and they take it!
But this good turn gets them into hot water of kind or another. Raze also thinks he is about to go over the edge into madness. Well, that or he has met his denya? A human denya?
Great new turn in the story! Loves meeting these new, “Data” like Detyens. Raze was a great lead and Sierra was just the right mix of feisty and vulnerable!
Waking from a dream
This book goes from an explosive beginning to an explosive ending. The authors managed to keep the excitement going even while keeping us guessing along the way. When we get to the HEA, I was turning the pages hoping there was more, but that will be in the next book. This book has trapped me into a series that I don’t want to escape from. I can’t wait to read the next book!
This was a good read. Kate Rudolph has a amazing way with words. The storyline was interesting and full of action and adventure. This is a Alien romance adventure. The characters are exciting. If you love a great romance adventure then this story is for you
Loved it !
Cool heroine, a little sad but funny and happy ending.
OK this book is really a 3.5 star but they don’t allow that so the author gets the benefit of an extra half star. This isn’t a bad read and except for the unbelievable parts is worth a 4 star BUT I found it ridiculous that ONE battle cruiser could instill such fear in a planet of elite warriors, just no. It’s still worth a read.
Thoroughly enjoyed this read. I was so intrigued with this whole concept.. that I also purchased “Ruthless” and “Heartless”. Highly recommend reading this story line. Kayde and Quinn’s story tugged at my heart strings. Thanks for writing it. Can’t wait to get and read “Faultless”, when it comes out.
A great book by Kate Rudolph. A dying race of aliens get a chance at rebuilding their civilization when Raze meets Sierra. They work together to help each other complete their separate missions only to realize how much they need each other. Lots of fast-paced action kept me interested all the way to the end.
A fantastic plot, with suspense, surprises, danger, and unpredictable twists and turns. The characters are awesome good guys and bad guys, with lots of action and adventures. Never give up on hope, you never know what is waiting on you. You feel their emotions as they battle to save their friends, rescue the women, fight the bad guys, and escape. They face betrayal, danger, doubts, and one unexpected misadventure after another. You will root for them to escape, fight with them to survive, and celebrate as they find each other as true mates. You are there as they fall in love, face betrayal, hope for a chance to be together, and fight to prove their love. Wonderful story, can’t wait to see what happens next!
Soulless is book one in the Detyen Warriors series. This series is something of a spinoff of Kate Rudolph’s flagship series, Mated to The Alien, that features more Detyen’s (though this group is their military guys, whereas the Mated series is more civilian based) and runs mostly parallel time-wise. There isn’t a reading order published exactly, but I’d suggest reading Ruwen before you start this series. Though in truth, you can read them separately and not be lost. Some of the books in the series should be read together, however, and this and the following book, Ruthless, are one such set.
Our male lead in this story is Raze; a Detyen warrior who chose to undergo a procedure that saved his life but left him without emotions. Detyen’s die at the age of 30 if they have not bonded with their mate before then, so the race has come up with a short term ‘fix’ that involves what they consider removing their souls. They don’t generally live too long afterwards, but they can continue to help their brethren fight, even if they don’t feel anything anymore. This is the story of how one such soulless warrior did the unheard of and found and bonded his mate (no spoilers, you can’t really think they wouldn’t would you?). It is far from that simple, however, and the path he and Sierra take to find one another, bond, and then stay alive and be allowed to keep their bond is fraught with battles, bloodshed, space pirate slavery rings, dedicated friends, and more bumps than dirt road.
Sierra is a great character: she’s a warrior herself, though by her own terms, a loving daughter, a respected leader, and a dedicated humanitarian. She may be human, and almost completely unaware of the predicament that Raze is in when she first meets him, but she follows her heart and I absolutely loved that for a change. The drama between them was external rather than internal, for the most part, which was a refreshing change of pace.
The two made a great couple and a great team, along with their comrades and kicked off a new series that seeks to answer the question of who tried to wipe out the entire Detyen race, and might be gunning for earth? There was action aplenty, a touch of steam, a heavy dose of romance, some solid friendship highlighting moments, some very skittish rescued humans, and of course, lots of feels. Definitely a series to give a go! I am looking forward to the rest of this series.
It’s about 175 pages and worth the read. It’s enjoyable.
The entire series is interesting. Great plot
Great SciFi Read
A new and interesting slant on the usual storyline of this genre, which kept it fresh.
Great book that I couldn’t put down until I finished!
This was definitely an action packed romance audiobook. The story had a great sci-fi/world building. Learning about the hero was very interesting and I liked how bad-@$$ the heroine is. The story goes full tilt on action with a couple of steamy scenes added. I enjoyed the story. The main narrator was a little on the monotone side but I thought that could possibly be on purpose due to the hero’s personality. I just would have liked more passion in his voice. It was an interesting effect to have the female narrator pop in for the women’s voices.

He gave up his soul to be able to live just a few more years. Finding his mate was never anything he thought possible. But now without his soul he has no feelings. Then the unexpected happened when one spy changes everything. An interesting space romance with just enough intrigue and danger. But can a human woman love an alien with no soul or even want him? Part of a series but very easily can be read as a stand alone. All of the Detyen books are great romances of finding that one person.
