I’m in love with the world Juliette Cross created where humans and Morgons have to learn to co-exist. While many have overcome their ingrained bias and the segregation laws are a thing of the past, there are still those who know nothing but hatred and this author didn’t shy away from the ugly.
Jessen Cade is a human woman who quickly realizes that her life, her future, her choices aren’t her own. Her father has limited her experience, forcing her to rebel (of course). Her rebellion takes her to the Morgon side of town, Morgons being a dragon-human hybrid that are virtually invulnerable and age much slower than humans. At a Morgon club, she immediately finds a connection to Lucius Nightwing, the son of her father’s greatest enemy.
Lucius Nightwing can’t understand the strange bond he feels to Jessen. Not because she’s human. Not because the truce between humankind and Morgons is so fragile. But because she is unlike anyone he’s ever met… and she’s the enemy’s daughter. But their destiny couldn’t be denied and no one, not even her father, brother or her intended husband were going to stand in the way of his claiming her… except maybe himself.

With a host of entertaining side characters, this series is something I have to continue reading.
I am smitten with a dragon and his name is Lucius!
The chemistry between Lucius and Jessen was electric, I swear I could feel it.
I was easily pulled into the world of Morgons and humans as this author so skillfully penned a vivid story full of colors and feels and sparks and heartbonding.
A possessive and protective dragon is a sexy and powerful thing. I would like my very own Morgon man please and thank you.
I loved this so much and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I’m keeping this review short and sweet because I need to dive into book 2.
Juliette, I absolutely lover her to pieces and was sooooo happy when I discovered her books last year. Once I devoured the Vale of Stars series, I quickly added the Nightwing series since they are connected.
For me, whenever I start any of Juliette’s books, I’m instantly sucked in and I can never stop myself. Her stories are intriguing, exciting and my goodness, her shifters are EVERYTHING.
Since I know what her Morgonkind are like, I knew that Lucius was going to win me over. And it didn’t take long at all, the guy just needs to say one word and I was DONE.
I loved how well Lucius and Jessen fit together especially coming from different worlds. They were just soooo well matched. Plus her feistiness was one of my favorite things about her.
I could honestly go on and on about how much I love Juliette’s books, from the characters and the world-building, it’s all absolutely flawless. I’ll never get tired of her dragons!
I can’t wait to start the next book in this series!

Wow, I really enjoyed this book. This is the first book that I read by Juliette and I’ve re-read it multiple times since then and enjoyed the changes that were made in the new version. I loved the world that Juliette created where humans and Morgans, a dragon/human hybrid live, not so peacefully together but times are very slowly changing. Yes, there is still a lot of racism. I loved how there were different clans, and that they all have different coloured wings and different dragon magic like how the Icewing clan have coldfire that they use to heal. I loved getting the reading the prologue as it showed a young Jessen been told the human telling of King Radomis and Princess Morga and how the Morgans’ were created. Jessen’s mother told her that she should stick to her own kind otherwise she could end up like Princess Morga who was a slave and outcast which wasn’t remotely true as King Radomis and Princess Morga were mates and completely in love. Jessen even had her rebellious spirt back then. I loved the connection between Jessen and Lucius it was very reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, as there’s extremely bad blood between their fathers as Lucius’s mother at one time was in love with Jessen’s father but she ultimately chose Lucius’s father and Mr Cade has hated Morgans since then. Man, I felt sorry for what Jessen had to put up with especially with her father trying to control her by forcing her to marry Aron, his business competitors son but Jessen was having none of it which I’m really glad she’d finally had enough. I loved how great that Jessen and Lucius were together. I thought it was cool that they decided to have a public wedding since they’re the mixed species mating. I’m really looking forward to reading Sorcha and Lorian’s story next and to see what changes have been made. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
