The second book in The Novels of Ravenwood series another well written story in this series. Norman loyalist, Lady Jocelyn and Wulfstan, a Saxon sorcerer’s story of suspense, drama, danger, villains, magic, mystery, twists, turns, an ancient riddle, and love. A story that was well worth reading. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book surprised me. After reading the first book in the series, I expected Soul of the Wolf to be just as serious and intense as Wulfstan’s character, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it to be quite the opposite. Jocelyn and Wulfstan were such a funny, well-suited pair. They had me laughing throughout the entire book. Especially where all of Jocelyn’s antics were concerned when trying to gain the attention of her new husband.
One of my favorite parts of this book was Jocelyn. She was fiery and headstrong, not afraid to go after what she wanted. She drove Wulfstan crazy in all the right ways. I seriously loved this book, and I’m looking forward to finding out what the next book in the series has in store.
I loved the book. I liked that the heroine was fearful of chikdbirth. I am excited to go on to book 2. I got this book through StoryOrigin and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Fans of medieval tales rich in detail and magical elements will enjoy this page turning read. It wove its spell around me so thoroughly it went from a book I planned read on my commute over several days, but instead tore through in 24 hours.
The Soul of the Wolf is Book 2 of the Novels of Ravenwood series. I’ve not read the first book, yet this second story was a satisfying, engrossing read in its own right. In fact it whet my appetite to go back and read the first.
Wulfstan, a Saxon sorcerer and Jocelyn, a Norman noblewoman must be wed, against both of their wishes. They both have good reason to fear/resist the other but they are attracted nevertheless. Secrets, well drawn secondary characters, evil family members, magical connections with nature and wildlife abound in this engaging tale.
The best part was the author’s lyrical prose, the spot on, scintillating dialog and the scorchingly sensual, as well as entertaining intimate moments between Jocelyn and Wulfstan. Think you know about making love to a sorcerer? Think again. Go ahead and get transported back to Medieval England on a satisfying journey. Highly recommend.
This is amazing! This story sucked me in! I love Rebecca McKernan as the narrator for the first two parts of this series! Her voice really brings to life this medieval time full of sorcery and mystery! I love the time and setting of these books and this one is especially fun!
Jocelyn is a norman. But also saxon, which is why she doesn’t want to marry a saxon barbarian. She is unwilling but wants nothing more than to be a mother. But Wolfstan wants nothing more than to never touch her and to continue on his journey to find the answer to a riddle that could save his family.
Both are stubborn, both want something they can’t have yet. The sexual tension is strong and the suspense is killer. This is another amazing story by Judith Sterling and I can’t wait for the rest! Rebecca McKernan does a beautiful job with the ladies and gentleman. This is very well worth a credit!
The magic continues in the second book of the Novels of Ravenwood series and this time it’s Wulfstan and Jocelyn’s story. It tells a lot about an author when the story is so good, you just don’t want to put the book down!! I found this one a bit “darker” than the first one but just as intriguing.
Wulfstan is given no choice but to marry Jocelyn and he’s bound and determined not to consummate their marriage or have much to do with his new wife in the fear that it will distract him from trying to solve a curse/riddle he’s promised his late mother he would try to solve. Little does he know what’s in store for him when Jocelyn arrives and just how stubborn and determined she can be!! Both give as good as they get which makes for very interesting conversations! lol The ending was fascinating, quite a few twists and turns and I so wanted to be there to be part of it all.
Another well written story and I definitely recommend this book. I was given an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is the second book in the Novels of Ravenwood series. I really enjoyed the first book, and was intrigued by Wulfstan, who was a secondary character in it. This book is Wulfstan’s story, and it was wonderful! He met his match in Lady Jocelyn, who is a well-rounded, interesting character, and I loved getting to know her in these pages. Sterling is a wonderful writer, and I love the mix of magic, history, and romance in Soul of the Wolf. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series!
The second book in the series is a standalone, but I recommend reading in order, because of the overlap of characters.
Can the answer to a riddle be found when a man with a mission gives his heart to the woman he wants to deny? Nice flow with an interesting story. I recommend this series. Some modern words/phrases.
This story was a very entertaining afternoon getaway. I loved the setting, the world building was top notch, and the characters developed nicely over the course of the story. I did really like that even though it is a second book, it could be a standalone novel, but it did tie back in nicely with the first. All in all a solid, quick read that takes you on a nice reality break, that’s highly entertaining!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
“Soul of the Wolf” follows on from “Flight of the Raven”. It has all the elements of the first book in the series and has everything you would want and expect.
Judith Sterling is a superb writer. Her character development is astonishing, her world-building is first class, and the way the stories roll out in front of you is nothing short of magical.
