“The quintessential story of good versus evil, heaven and hell, light against the darkness. Demons, goddesses, druids, a fantasy world set in modern times.”—Vickie Chaisson, Goodreads ReviewerLukas Reid is a good-natured 16-year-old farm kid. He loves his little brother and his parents, and he does okay in school. But he has issues. He can’t understand why the neighbor girl looks at him that way, … neighbor girl looks at him that way, or the way it makes him feel. He sees visions of places far and near, in the now and in the past. And in his free time, he practices magic—gifts handed over for 10,000 years in a Druidic tribe that serves an ancient Goddess. Lukas just wants to figure it all out, to just be a normal kid, but…
A war is coming between Lukas’ Goddess and an ancient Demon King.
The tragic death of his parents shakes his faith, and with the sudden loss of his remaining family it is shattered. Blinded by rage, Lukas turns away from his friends and trains under a deceptive, yet formidable master to hone his magic and prevent the demon’s final objective–obliteration of all life on earth.
War begins! A forged weapon, Lukas rejoins his friends and sets after the Demon King.
From a hidden crypt, where evil lies waiting, to the Iowa countryside, they battle to prevent the end of all they know. Lukas must overcome his doubts and allow the Light to work through him–to defeat both the foe of his Goddess and a new more familiar one.
Soul Dark: Chosen is a coming of age tale in the modern-day world when a war between ancient deities and demons culminates in a winner-takes-all battle that could determine the fate of all mankind.

Soul Dark: Chosen by E. L. Reedy is a wonderful story to read. This is wonderful story writen by an author I never read till this story. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It’s hard enough being a teenager but loosing your parents in a car wreck doesn’t help. Lukas and his little brother are sent to his grandparents. There he learns many things about what his grandmother calls the Goddess but he also learns about the day that there will be a war between the Goddess and the Demon King. What will Lukas do, how is he involved in this war , who does he fight for, and what will happen next? Dear Reader, be prepared to ride a roller coaster of emotions from the good and evil, love and lose, and what comes next will surprise us all no matter happens. This book is never boring and you can get sucked into it.
As a 16 year old teenager, Lukas should be concentrating on school, crushes, arguments with parents, and hanging out with friends. You know, the normal things for a teenage kid. However, for Lukas his life is the farthest thing from a normal kids. Having lost his parents and his brother he’s suffered more loss than any kid should, and now he’s being trained for a coming war between the Goddess and the Demon Lord. With Sabine at his side he will have to fight to prevent the war with demons and the destruction of all humans.
This story was really interesting and sucked me in almost from page 1!
Soul Dark: Chosen is a story I would recommend for any person looking for a really good fantasy read with a bit of magic. Especially for those young readers!
The title is exactly what this was. Sometimes titles of books dont make a lot of sense but this one did. Its a darker story. Its not daisies and the MC Lukas goes through a lot. I did enjoy the writing and I’ve read this author before. I think if anything I didnt particularly like is the type of narration. It was a little bit weird for me and confusing. Its told from a future standpoint so when he’s speaking about events they happened already. I dunno it was just strange for me but it could be just me. It did start out kinda slow and it was hard to get into it for a bit but it did pick up. Doesnt end on a cliffhanger but you know there could be more written at some point. All around it was a good read. Just a little dark sometimes and for me as a reader I have to be in the mood for those things. I knew it was probably dark because it is Fantasy they can be dark sometimes but I do like happy things or a lot of humor to balance it. Again thats probably a me thing. 🙂
Wow I love this story, its very detailed and the characters are so realistic that they come to life. Lukas has so much taken from him that its tearing down his beliefs and making him push away from everyone who is close to him. This book has alittle bit of everything paranormal creatures, tragic moments, and even action. It’s an amazing story that everyone should read.
Soul Dark Chosen is the quintessential story of good versus evil, heaven and hell, light against the darkness. Demons, goddessess, druids, a fantasy world set in modern times. This book will knock your socks off and you will need to read with an open mind because the beginning takes a long time to come to fruition and make sense. Don’t give up to soon it is so worth the journey. Loukas and his friends must save the world from destruction and they do their best to bring it into the light. The end of their story is just the beginning. Character development is off the chart and as rasch comes into their own you will like them. Teenage boys can be dense but Loukas becomes the man he needs to be. Loved it
An interesting tale of magic, mayhem, goddesses and demons. I enjoyed the overall story. It took awhile for me to get into the story but overall it was a good start to this new series.
This is a great start to this series. This is a tightly woven story with intriguing characters, and an emotional rollercoaster ride. There is a lot of setting up that occurs at the beginning so it took a little while for me to get into the story. It was worth the wait.
4 out of 5 stars
Lukas is having a crisis of father after his parents die and his brother is killed . His faith is shaken to its core. But there is war coming between Lukas’s Goddess and a very ancient Demon lord . Lukas must learn to weild his power to help save his friends and the earth . He must over come his doubts and fears and let the power of the Goddess of light work through him to save the world .
This is a book you want to invest some time and settle down and read . The characters are well written and complex . Lukas is the main character and he is well he is such a conflicted young man . He has been through so much in his young life from his parents death and his grandmother trying to teach him the ways of the Goddess . He just kind of shuts down and broods . You really want to slap him a few times at the beginning . He grows up as you read into the book he really evolves and becomes the hero that is needed . Sabine is his best friend and she is his love interest but he doesn’t see it most of the time . She is kind of kick butt and takes no guff from no one . They go up against a truly evil character the Demon King that is truly evil . I actually liked the way this he is written .
This is a book where you can sit down and start reading and know its a fantasy book but set in today’s time . The author takes us on a very emotional rollercoaster ride which takes us on a journey of self forgiveness and doing the right thing even save the world . I will say though it does take a little bit to get into the book but once you are in you can’t stop reading . I really liked the way the author mixed the real world with the fantasy world of Druids and demons . I truly enjoyed reading this book and going to look for other books by the authors . So if you want a good fantasy book check it out.
The story builds just as the power does in Lucas–a slow burn building into an eruption of action, soul searching, and sacrifice.
Lukas is your everyday teen living on a farm with friends and a loving family, but he also can practice druid magic. Not a big deal, until his world is targeted by evil of apocalyptic proportions starting with taking away almost everyone he loves. While his townspeople go missing, he expands his skills under a brutal master preparing for a war for the world. He and his friends, along with his mysteriously ancient master, suit up against a demon army that spews forth from the farm where he had been raised. According to his goddess of light, he is the protector and perhaps the only one who can close the portal and banish the darkness. But can Lukas overcome his confused feelings for Sabine and the weakness she creates in him? Can he conquer the rage he has for everything being taken from him and his goddess asking too much of him? Or can that love and rage, the light and shadow, save the world?
First off, Reedy and Wade have a unique writing style that people who like popular literature–aka page turners with minimal description or depth–might not get into right away. Having read a few quick reads lately, it did take me a moment to get into the storyteller narration–someone is telling the story of what happened in the past to Lukas, and we are privy to teaspoon snippets of the present. As soon as I got used to it, about 10% on my Kindle, I became hooked. There is nothing wrong with page-turning books, but this surpasses that with such lovely detailed world building and characterization. It slowly builds and that was a must because so much emotion is involved, pulling you in as much as they pull on your heartstrings. Despite the concepts of a goddess, druid magic, and demons, this fantasy novel is imbued with real teenage life including a love interest, best friends, and people coming together to fight against evil in that classic theme I absolutely adore of good versus evil. Only Reedy and Wade are clever in making it no so clear cut. Who is this Dr. Teo guy? Is Lukas truly light? Or does his rage lead him towards the shadows?
This was a good book if you enjoy otherworldly dark fantasy stories. It was a bit slow going at first, but definitely picked up once the character builds and backstory took shape. I felt at times too many run on sentences marred the reading experience, but overall I enjoyed it.
Lukas goes through hell personally and then all hell breaks loose around him, literally. This story is very intriguing. I spent the whole book trying to figure out who was telling the story.
this was a really great book! he lost his parents in a tragic accident. than others close to him die. now hes on a war path and doesnt know who to trust anymore.
