I received an advanced readers copy of this book & my review is my own. I enjoy this author’s style of writing cozy mysteries. I’m hooked! Besides reading the Seagrass Sweets cozy mystery series, I also read Sandi Scott’s Pet Portraits cozy mystery series as well. There was a delightfully funny reference to the Pet Portraits mystery series when the main character Ashley was reading the first book in that series!
I love a little romance with my cozy mysteries. It’s nice to see how Ryan and Ashley are moving forward with their relationship with some natural hesitation. I was rooting for them through the whole book!
I like the theme for this mystery with the wedding rehearsal and later the wedding. Who would think of somebody drowning in a fish pond? Robin, the bride to be, learns it was her favorite Uncle Howard. Usually he only has one drink but it appeared to everyone he was a bit more than tipsy and fell into the fish pond drowning. A damper for Robin & her husband to be Cash at the wedding rehersal. They still had all the wedding festivities to come. Later it is revealed it was murder!! (Gasp!!)
Ashley of course, wants to help out her good friend Robin and find out what really happened. And that’s what this book is about, figuring out who did it! I like reading about the suspects & motives. Of course the police don’t like Ashley’s interference with their murder investigation but in the end she has it all figured out! I was a bit surprised at who it turned out to be!
Enjoy!!!
I enjoy both of Sandi Scott’s Cozy Series. In the Seagrass Sweets series I love hearing about the delicious food that is prepared for whatever event Ashley and Patty are catering. This time it’s for a rehearsal dinner for a high school friend of Ashley’s. Her uncle who is somewhat of a curmudgeon is found dead in a pond on the property where the Event takes place. The groom is one of the suspects. As usual it’s up to Ashley with help from Patty and Ryan to solve the case so that Ashley’s friend and her fiancé can finally get married. The murder is solved in a logical and satisfying manner.
In this book Ashley and Ryan’s romance is heating up. For those that enjoy some romance along with their mystery, this book is an ideal cozy.
I also enjoy the canine characters in this book. Their antics make me laugh.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair review.
Enjoyable story keeps you thinking trying to figure out who and why someone would ruin such a happy occasion.
Read this book in a few hours. It moved really fast.
I skipped a few books between the first and this one. I remember Ashley being a stronger character and Patty seemed to be the strong one in this story.
Was easy to figure out who did it but not the why.
This my honest and freely given review for an ARC.
Ashley and Patty are catering a friend’s rehearsal party. An uncle if found face down in the pool. His death is ruled a murder. Ashley investigates and helps the detectives, even though one of them considers her to be in the way. A very good mystery, easy to read and the book just flows along.
I am giving my honest review for receiving an ARC copy.
How much fun is it to have an author you can always go to when you want an either “laugh out loud” twin mystery or a “deliciously sweet” new business women (both with a new sweetie pie) with great recipes. If you’re a cozy mystery reader, you have them both with Sandi Scott. These are my “go to” books in between those dark, heavy, death and destruction type reading. If you haven’t read Sandi Scott you don’t know what you’re missing.
Soufflé Murder is a fine addition to this delightful series. A murder during a wedding rehearsal dinner has Ashley looking for the killer, while contemplating the future of her own romance with Ryan. I was given this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
The story kept me engrossed from beginning to end. Keep up the good work.
This is the second book I have read by Ms Scott. I love the main characters, Ashley and Patty. They are two friends trying to run a catering business and each are trying to find true love; murder was not part of the plan. The town of Seagrass sounds like a place you would want to move to . There is just enough suspects to keep you guessing til the end. I was given an ARC and give this review freely.
Another great mystery with Ashley and Patty. Ashley and Penny run Seagrass Sweets a catering company. Trouble erupts while they’re catering a rehearsal dinner. Will Ashley be able to save the day?
A little shorter than most, but otherwise a well written typical cozy. Ashley lives in a small town, owns a catering business, has a dog, has a boyfriend, has other friends, one of which has a relative murdered, so Ashley of course has to solve the mystery. If you like a well written formula cozy like this, you’ll love this story. It’s not Pulitzer Prize material, but it wasn’t full of spelling-puntuation-grammar errors like some are. The author knows how to create likeable characters and weave a nice mystery, but if you don’t like female protagonist cozy mysteries, skip this, if you do, read it. I received an ARC to review, this is my honest opinion.
Souffle Murder is a wonderful treat! Try it today! It has a great mystery, wonderful friendshps, a little romance, and it is a good read for an evening of relaxing fun.
A really fun book to read, as are all the books I have ever read from Sandi Scott. I love the relationship between the characters Ashley & Patti & Ryan. Of course there is a murder to deal with and the plot twists keep you guessing to the end.
This is the latest installment of the Seagrass Sweets Mystery series and it’s really great. We open with the rehearsal dinner for one of Ashley’s best friends from High School, Robin. Ashley and her partner Patty are catering the dinner and the wedding party dinner too. They are setting up at Estes Mount, a gorgeous home converted into an event destination for weddings and other elegant parties. Patty and Ashley take a small tour and are taken by all the gorgeous details of the mansion.
Dinner goes off without a hitch and everyone loved the food as evidenced by all the clean plates coming back to the kitchen. Ashley notices an argument between two men and isn’t sure if she should break it up but Patty tells her let the wedding planner handle that.
Later we see one of the two men stumbling out to the gardens and he is found dead shortly thereafter in a koi pond. Ashley feels she needs to help her friend and investigate to ensure the friends soon to be husband isn’t accused of the deed.
With lots of great cooking and much investigation Ashley follows each small clue to the end. And of course her dog Dizzy, now joined by Ryan’s dog, Dash, help to bring the answers to light. Patty and Smoke Daddy Lee are still happy and together and Ashley is debating the possibility of Ryan moving in with her. She is holding back for fear of losing what she has with him.
Another wonderful cozy mystery from Sandi Scott! And love how the lives of the main characters keep evolving and growing from book to book.
