Sonata is an explosion of passion withheld, a steady flowing, slow-burn romance that delivers sexual tension, anticipation, and release all in due time.
Skye Warren has a writing style that always keeps me captivated and wondering what comes next. She writes in a way that keeps you thinking and guessing while living the story through the thoughts of the characters. As things are revealed to them, so are they to you.
Sonata is the final installment in the series and it ended with an explosive bang. Liam and Samantha have stolen my heart and made it sing. They’ve struggled with guilt, regret, shame, and desire. Secrets are revealed, deceit is uncovered, and love blossoms.
Of course, Skye has also given us a tease into the characters who will star in her next book and what a tease it is! Josh and Bethany promise to give more drama and fast-paced intrigue as more secrets are unveiled. I highly recommend falling in love with Skye’s heroes today as they will light a fire in you that you never knew existed.
Finally got the last book in the series and I was so thankful, these books had kept me on my toes, on the edge of the seat while reading and just thinking the rest of the days to see what would happen next. This end was everything, from her father to Liam getting better. The chemistry between them was amazing, the romance was a taboo at first but I thought it was perfect for them and this conclusion wrapped everything and left me in a great place. I am looking forward to read about Bethany and Josh.
Breathtaking. She makes music with her words, this talented author.
The final masterpiece has played its poignant notes, and it is beautiful.
I savor the double POV. It shows Liam’s raw feelings and desperate lust. He’s wracked with remorse and guilt and trauma. And Samantha is a virtuosa with his pain as well as with the violin. She pulls at his basic instincts of protection and desire to goad him into trusting her with his heart. It’s a hard process to witness, I assure you. These two characters need each other like air and lungs, but Liam is ruthless even when he seduces. And Samantha might be hurt and afraid, but she is relentless in claiming the man she loves. So intense and romantic!
The secrets from the past and the dangers that want to consume them are creeping up on them like a dark wave.
The prose is feather-light yet carries so much weight. Sometimes it kills me with some of the sentences it conveys with such soft accuracy. The meaning of music entwines with the meaning of love, independence and self-worth. I was biting my nails in anticipation of the thrilling last chapters clamouring with drama, French romanticism, heroic despair and hard-earned bliss.
It’s an intense, sensual and gripping finale. However, I’m a little confused because the plot regarding the conspiracy and Samantha’s family didn’t seem solved enough to me. On the other hand, I am so excited to read the next book about Josh and Bethany!
“You own me,” he says, his voice low. ~ Liam, SONATA
—>>> Two months in hiding while Liam recovers from being shot puts him and his prodigy ward in close quarters with each other, but not closer to each other or finding out just who was behind the attempt to take Samantha’s life. Finally, they are on their last resort to flush out their prey, which means Samantha will be returning to her tour, this time as the well-earned headliner.
Each chapter begins with a music trivia tidbit which helps draw the reader into the story that little bit more. In this book, Samantha is more mature and solidified in her feelings for Liam, understanding more of him now that he has opened up a crucial bit more to her, but she is also that fangirl who can be insanely thrilled by antique music sheets. Threaded throughout the chapters is Bethany and Josh’s story via their POVs, which fortunately for us readers, will be coming soon along with hopefully more details to finalize Liam and Samantha’s story.
Liam and Samantha were full of angst and anxiety. they seem trapped in a circle they couldn’t get out of, the same issues and problems seemed to have no ending. Both looking back on where they came from, with it holding Liam back, not letting him enjoy his present. Samantha’s past, which she thought was done and settled, reared up, making her question her own versions and remembrance’s. But as much as the past ended up integrating itself into the now, neither could hold back the flashes of where they were now. Wanting each other, desire that could not be contained, a need for the other that never went away. And even though they couldn’t get out from behind their past, they wanted so desperately to be in the now, to see that future together. When they both finally took that leap of faith, that belief that they could make it past it all, the happiness they had what’s more than beautiful.
As much as the resolution that Liam and Samantha settle on in their relationship, NOTHING else gets resolved in this book. The mystery, well, let’s add more characters and intrigue. The bad guys, henchmen caught and talking, but about what? And how? And what the why? More pieces of Josh’s story, some insight into Bethany, and the promise of their story coming soon, and a determined former cello player left us intrigued as well…..
FINALLLYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! I have been on pins and needles waiting for the final book in this series and let me tell ya it was worth the wait. It was worth all the WTF moments, all the OMG times and definitely worth the swoons. Warren knocked it out of the park. Just when I thought the book would go one way it went the opposite. Just when I thought it was over for Liam and Samantha, it wasn’t. Granted a lot of times I wanted to ring his neck, but that’s the case with any over the top alpha. This series is epic. I loved it and this book wrapping everything up was angsty as hell. PERFECT!
Sonata, the emotional and dramatic third and final installment of the North Security trilogy by Skye Warren. If you have not started this hauntingly beautiful trilogy, what are you waiting for?! Now that the series is complete it’s the perfect time to grab Overture! If you have not read the first two books in the trilogy, Overture & Concerto, then proceed with caution while reading this review, there may be spoilers for the first two books.
FINALLY the dramatic, suspenseful conclusion of this taboo, forbidden romance between Liam North and Samantha Brooks. We have all been waiting for it, and trust me, it was worth the wait!
“Only when I see her can I breathe again.”
After Samantha’s own father attempts to kill her and Liam takes the bullet to save her life the two are forced into hiding, far away from the spotlight that Samantha was under during the tour.
The violin has always been a part of Samantha, as vital to her as her own arm. But to protect herself and Liam she chooses to send it away while they were in hiding. Now, after everything that’s happened the very thought of playing makes her cringe.
“She’s beauty in a world of violence. Without music, there’s no point fighting a war.”
But the only way to end this once and for all and to bring the people that are hunting her out is for Samantha to take the stage once again.
But what will happen when they decide it’s time to face the music?
You’ll have to read Sonata to find out!
“The villain doesn’t get to keep the princess.”
She has done it again. Skye Warren just has a way with words that pulls you in and holds on until the very last page. Her stories are well written and the flow, there’s no other way to describe it then absolutely beautiful.
The North Security Trilogy will go down as one of my all-time favorite trilogies. The storyline is so suspenseful that it’s addicting. There are secrets and twists around every corner. The secondary characters are just as developed as the main characters, I loved how throughout the story a bit of Josh and Bethany’s POV’s were added in, made me a lot more intrigued and excited for their story as well in the next release, Audition.
“I’m tired of being your punishment, Liam North. Make me something else. Show me what it would be like if you took what you wanted, no guilt, no regrets.”
Samantha, we have watched her grow from a young girl at the beginning of the trilogy in Overture, into a strong and independent mature woman in Sonata. But as she’s matured so has the love that she has for Liam. Now that they have finally crossed those boundaries, Samantha wants more. If only Liam could get over his guilt and stop all the back and forth, the two could be something wonderful. As frustrated as she is with him at times, she’s determined to prove to him that the past will not repeat it’s self and not everyone leaves.
“Love isn’t a weakness, Liam. Look at me. I’m strong because of you. And I can protect you, too.”
Liam, swoooonnnn! Even though there were quite a few times that I wanted to shake him and tell him to just LET IT GO, I could still understand where he was coming from. His horrific past plays a huge part in the decisions that he makes and the way he tries to shelter Samantha from all of the evil in the world. I can only imagine how hard it is to separate the feelings he has for the woman he’s fallen in love with before him today and the little girl that he adopted from that orphanage all those years ago. The guilt and the regrets are eating him alive and although he wants more for Samantha, he also knows that there is no one that will love and protect her more then he will.
“I’m fighting a formless enemy-the past.”
The passion between these two is something else. As much as Liam tries to fight it, the love and pull between them is just too strong. And let me tell you Liam is as sexy as it gets in the bedroom, he is pure alpha and when he finally stops holding back…
“Neither of us knows where to put these feelings. She’s the obedient one, the good girl. I’m the one full of restraint and ignoble desires.”
That ending… *sigh* it was EVERYTHING I had hoped for Samantha and Liam. BUT I must admit that I was a little disappointed as well. There were still questions left unanswered and I feel like the mystery was not completely solved.
I have to mention again about the music trivia at the beginning of each chapter, those little fun facts and thoughts were an amazing addition to the story and showed just how much research Warren did for this series.
Now, come on October I am more than ready for the snarky Josh North and the sexy dancer, Bethany, to get their own story in Audition!
If you are looking for a passionate, suspenseful, unpredictable romance between a younger woman and an older man, the North Security Trilogy is for you! I highly recommend.
The final book with Liam and Samantha was so good!! Of course this book had sexy and suspense in abundance!! Love the push/pull between the two characters and the ending was superb! A wonderful trilogy by Skye Warren! On pins and needles for Josh’s book!!!
Composed By Love
The dramatic conclusion to Samantha and Liam’s forbidden romance was worth the wait! This troubled man will finally find the way to believe in Happily Ever After.
Finding out her father was out to kill her, left Samantha forced into hiding. Both her and Liam are now living with the after effects. He’s trying to heal from his injuries. She’s just trying to find a way to move on without a piece of her heart.
The violin was her solace, her entire life. Since almost losing Liam, she can’t even imagine ever playing again. It’s time to take back control. In order to win, they are going to have fight back.
Liam is a man with a past that haunts him. She has a past she doesn’t fully remember or understand. He knows what he wants but has never felt worthy. It’s up to both of them to figure it out. Their connection has always been unique and powerful. Their chemistry has never waned. Their love has only continued to grow. Now it’s time to embrace it and make it flourish. Together they can protect one another.
This story was about a love that was worth the wait. It may have been taboo, but it was meant to be.
Strong finish to the trilogy of Samantha and Liam’s journey. Plenty of heat and action. Samantha is a strong, vibrant personality. She balances out Liam’s rough edges. Ties up this section nicely while setting up the next installment of the series.
Great storytelling and spicy romance. I love how intricately plotted these books were. Amazing reads – the series must be read in order.
6 sparkling stars!
Liam and Samantha’s story still has twists and turns. Their relationship is chaotic at times and very loving at other times. This couple makes me laugh, cry, and then love them some more.
Skye Warren is an author extraordinaire. Her stories are always written very well. They draw the reader in from the first chapter and keeps them captivated until the very end.
I recommend this 6 star book and series!
I was so looking forward to this conclusion of the North Security series but also a part of me didn’t want it to end. I’ve loved reading this series so much! You have this feeling that everything is coming to a head and before the end, more secrets will come to light. I was suspicious of certain characters and who could blame me? It feels like no one can be trusted. Shadows lurk ready to strike.
I feel that the reader gets a better look into the life of Liam and understands his actions better as a result. His relationship with his brother also shows the close bond they have even though they give each other grief all the time. I also think that Samantha comes into her own in this book. While there is fear in her heart, she isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with Liam. She has gotten stronger.
Sonata provides us with multiple voices that enriches the story by giving the reader different perspectives to view events from all angles. More of the past is revealed and the reader is able to sympathise with the characters for the pain and suffering they endured. In the typical style, Skye Warren keeps the reader fixated until the last page. The drama, suspense and intrigue ensures that we are gripped tight by the story and the characters that live within it. This was a fitting end for Liam and Samantha. And while it may be the last encore for them, we might be seeing some of the other characters soon. And I can’t wait!
The stunning conclusion of Liam and Samantha’s love story. The story has everything. It was steamy, had suspense, and action. The story was easy to read and I read it in a day! It was a well thought out ending to the trilogy!
This is the third book in the North Security Series, and a great and suspenseful conclusion to Liam and Samantha’s story. You have to listen to the first books in the Series before this one. Teddy Hamilton and Grace Grant did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed it and I highly recommend this Series. Looking forward to listen to Audition, Bethany and Josh’s story. #AudiobookObsession

4.5 Stars
Sonata is the third and final book in the North Security series. There’s suspense and mystery in this taboo romance. We find out more of Samantha’s and Liam’s background. At the end, love conquers all.
Review copy was received for a honest opinion.
This is the final book of the trilogy, the story about Liam and Samantha. It was intense, full of emotion and action, but at the same time too short. I wanted to keep reading, to know more about them, to keep watching their story unfold. Nevertheless, it was perfect and a beautiful conclusion to their complicated relationship. I’m glad they get their HEA despite all that they have to get through to get there.
SONATA by Skye Warren is book Three in the North Security Series. This continues the story of Liam North and Samantha Brooks, so you really should read the previous books: first book ‘Overture’ and second book ‘Concerto’ to fully enjoy their story. This is the last installment in their story which this series has been a page turner for me. Samantha is trying to help Liam by caring for his physical injuries but he still has some internal ones from his past. Liam has been strong but now he is having to leaning on Samantha which is something he never really had…someone to just take care of him.
Love their story and this series. I hope to read more from Ms. Warren soon!
„Tonight. Now. Lights dim. The curtain rises. She picks up the violin and bow.”
The creation is complete. First, Skye Warren enchanted us with Overture. Then she mesmerized us in Concerto. And now in Sonata she get us through crescendo to finally reach coda- a passage that brings a piece to an end. And what the end it was! My emotions are all over the place, because I couldn’t hoped for a better conclusion for Liam and Samantha’s story. Their journey to happy ending was difficult and bumpy, but in the end worth every turn. They have overcome all obstacles that stood in their way and finally embraced the love they always shared.
This part gave me all the feels- sorrow, longing, hope and delight. I could feel Samantha’s inner torment and Liam’s frustration over what was happening after the events in Carnegie Hall. He was recovering and she was trying to cope without a piece of her soul. Liam is still her protector that’s determined to eliminate the danger. She just wants to be loved like a woman should. But can Liam move on from the demons of hist past and give Samantha what she needs? As it turns out the age difference and forbidden type of their relantionship seems to be the last of their concerns.
Suspense, sizzling chemistry and passion- Skye Warren filled this story to the brim with these qualities. She added to the plot the soundtrack made from classical music and the effect is simply outstanding. I’ve never been at a classical concert, but I suspect that such experience would leave me deeply touched. That’s how I feel right now after reading Sonata. Skye Warren left me completely enthralled and I’m really disappointed that I can’t give her standing ovations right now, because what she created? IT’S MAGIC. The purest form of gold in romance genre. And just like with musical composition, reading this series for the first time was an indescribable experience. And praise the heavens for a possibility to read them once more! Because I will do it again and again. North Security series is now on the list of my forever favorites. Bravo, Mrs. Warren!
And the news about Josh’s book?! The balm for my heart! I can’t wait to read his story!
I was waiting with breathless anticipation for the ending of Samantha and Liam’s epic saga. And Skye Warren exceeded all my expectations in Sonata by miles. This story was explosive and soul deep chemistry wrapped in heartbreak, angst and mystery. The lyrical writing of Skye Warren wrecked my heart and filled it with ecstasy at the same time.
Samantha Brooks is running. From the dangerous past. From the nightmare of her last grand concert. She is also running towards hope of a bright future free from death threats and full of true love. I am honestly amazed by this girl, scratch that, woman. She evolved like a butterfly and now she has wings. She is no longer the timid, shy and protected violin prodigy only. I am awed by her fearless capacity to love Liam. I was stunned by her bold decisions and declaration. And this fierce yet soft , compassionate and vulnerable woman will forever be one of my most favorite Skye Warren lead. Her traumatic past has made her strong and determined. I admire her pain, her passion for music and her heart.
What can I say about Liam North? I could only fall in love harder and deeper with him in this story. Skye Warren did not hold back with his demons and darkness at all. This gorgeous, broken and scarred man hides layers and layers of complex emotions behind his calm and confident exterior. Guilt. Shame. Regrets. Helplessness. The sinful and forbidden desires burning in his veins. Inability to feel love yet feeling that very emotion in his bones for Samantha. The glimpses of the savage beast he keeps under control. I am utterly, completely and absolutely enthralled by this man.
This story is hide and seek to the extreme. The adrenaline rush came from the mysterious nail biting story line. The cat and mouse chase between Liam and Samantha’s enemies. The slow burn and I-am-dying-a-thousand-deaths kind of romance. The electrifying chemistry was burning my kindle. And it was so much more than sultry, taboo and filthy sex. It was an irrevocable, magnetic, irresistible and intense connection between two souls. They needed it like air or water. And I could feel the powerful effect too. The ending was everything. It caused fireworks in my heart. I was nothing but an emotional chaos.
Sonata is one of the most sensational and incredible story Skye Warren has ever written. It was a feast of mindblowing emotions. The intoxicating seduction games entwined with all consuming love. I am mesmerized. I am bewitched. I was transported to a different universe of pleasure and pain.
