I was a woman on a mission. I wanted to be…. Somewhere I belonged. My life as a small town gal kept me cautious, but I wanted to go travel the world, be free and not stuck in a bubble. I traveled through the states and kept moving until I got to Vegas. Flashing lights, casinos and the man in Armani who made traffic stop with his sparkling smile… A smile I quickly learned belonged to the devil.… the devil.
Not anyone else’s devil – he was my devil.
Then, my world came to a crashing halt one night – the night my life went from dangerous to ready to flatline.
On the ride of my life, I went back to the past I’d abandoned years before. Back to the past that has never been the past. It could have been the present but I was too stubborn to see it.
I’m running back to the arms of safety.
To the arms I should have never left.

Another attention getting that is just as disturbing as the first book in this series the story is filled with tragedy, obsession, drama, evil, lose, abuse, love and survival. The author has no trouble grabbing and keeping your attention in a page turner as she lays out the plot that keeps you in the edge of your seat. The grass isn’t greener on the other side, sometimes when tasting that grass it gets you into a world of trouble and deals a hand you can’t win no matter how much you try. Then sometimes you get a chance to break out and you see a light at the end of the tunnel if only you can make it that far. As with the first book in this series the author throws in twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat holding your breath waiting for the next shoe to drop. Just when you think things will turn out okay she throws you in a tail spin that makes your heart beat fast wanting to stick your hand inside the book and pull the character right through the pages to safety.
Anna wants some excitement in her life, living in a small town is nice and all that but there just isn’t any nightlight, no excitement and no thrills. She wants to live on the edge, have an adventure, get out and see the world. She has seen some great things leaving behind some wonderful memories as she travels from state to state that is until she hit Vegas here she will learn just how great her life was and what she thought she wanted she really does not. Here is where her nightmare beings leaving her on the run from an evil boyfriend, his abuse and all that she sees that she wishes she could unseen. She runs back to the place she has always felt safe to the arms of the man she left behind. Only the ex isn’t giving up that easy he is on the hunt to find her, he isn’t through with her by a long shot.
What follows is a story filled with suspense and danger as one man hunts her down why the other tries his best to keep her safe. It is full of surprises, with some great twists you won’t see coming. Sometimes we must spread our wings to find where we need to be is where we just left. When danger strikes we always look for a safe haven that is usually our home with the ones we love. Anna just hopes she can make it there in one piece and alive. Trevor hopes they all make it out alive when one evil man comes knocking it is life and death. I thought the plot was great, it keeps your interest and moves pretty fast. This is one author that knows how to give you chills and excitement that keeps your blood pumping. A very emotional read that really keeps you on the edge. I can’t wait to see what the next book holds in store for me.
This is Anna’s story. Small town girl lookin for something more. But, definitely not this. It’s just as gripping if not more than the first book. The author is really detailed and I love that. Really brings the book to life for me. Definitely can’t wait to read more!
There was so much action described in the prologue and first chapter that I could tell this was going to be the kind of book that you just can’t put down.
When this story collided with the last one in the form of Dani Lynn, I felt like I was back among old friends and became even more invested in this next story in the series.
There was a lot of revisiting of past events and pain, and it helped to color the emotions of the present. Shuler blended it all together rather well.
As Anna’s situation unraveled, it was such a whirlwind, not only for her but also for everyone who cared about her. There was also an incredibly shady feel that had me questioning who could be trusted. I really enjoyed the range of emotions that Shuler took me on with this book.
Stella was one heck of a spitfire and I kept loving her more and more.
This book had so much action all happening at once that I was on pins and needles racing to the conclusion.
The varying perspectives in this book made it an absolute joy to read. I loved being able to be in the minds of both good and evil.
The race to rescue as this book neared the end had my pulse racing and my anxiety through the roof. I may or may not have been cursing Shuler for putting me through all this!
The twists and turns were incredible and had me on the edge of my seat. Even the epilogue of this book had my hackles up. Shuler constantly brings the anxiety and suspense and she doesn’t let up. It quite masterful. I am so ready for Book 3!
This book takes off at a fast pace and doesn’t stop. I didn’t want to put the book down. I wouldn’t mind having this group of friends and family as part of mine. They are all strong, stubborn in their own ways, and very protective of each other. Action, suspense, and love can be found within the pages of this captivating story.
BUCKLE UP!!! ANOTHER WILD RIDE!!!
I loved this one here. Man, its a great ride. I could tell you all about the story and its ups and downs. But you’ve read that on the blurb. Nothing changed. Here’s my awesome take. LOL. It was filled with excitement. I’m not kidding. The characters were so believable and down to earth. I think they might be my neighbors. Smooth flowing with incredible odds racked against the main characters. Everything was so realistic and life like its amazing. I loved the rollercoaster of all the emotions as they played out. Barb’s either a people watcher or she’s a painter. She has detail down to a science. Everything is described so vividly that I had no trouble picturing it as it continued along. So many surprises that kept me captivated and pulled so far in, I didn’t want to get out. Barb has become one of my most favorite authors. If I had any doubts as to her magnificent talents and gifts, they flew out the window. Not a one did I have. She hooked me then reeled me in. I didn’t put this bad boy down for a second. What? I had to see how it ended. Don’t take my word for it. Grab your own copy and see just how fantastic this read is. Barb did a phenomenal job bringing this read to life.
This is an amazing follow up to the first book. You not only get to meet new characters but, you get to catch up with old one. I love this addition to the series. There’s love, heartbreak, second chances, betrayal, danger, suspense and a bit of fun mixed in. Plus, the women get to kick a bit of tail and we get to see a bit more of the kiddos. I’m gonna jump right into the next book, Shatter Me Whole.
