Sometimes hiding is the best way of being found…
But Henry makes it clear he does not want the attention Agatha’s scandalous activities bring. However when the War Office also command him to take a bride, he finds he has only one lady in mind.
As Agatha hides from the results that her latest experiments have brought, Henry pursues her from one scandalous event to another. But before he can pounce, it becomes explosively clear that his future bride’s affections are engaged elsewhere, and she may not be all she claimed to be…
Somewhat Scandalous is a fast paced romantic mystery set against the back drop of the dazzling Regency era. It can be read standalone, or as part of the ongoing Brambridge Novels mystery series.

Story moved slowly. Having the female lead try to live within society’s expectations was frustrating to read.
Very entertaining, I reread portions because it was so good.
Lots of twists you don’t expect in a romance. Found myself too interested in the main characters and couldn’t put the book down. Felt like I knew “who done it “ early on but found some things unexpected in the end.
Imperfect, yet perfect characters.
Beautifully mysterious story!
The heroine endures a miserable abusive childhood before being taken into the household of orphaned elite siblings. Her beauty brings unwelcome advances when she accompanies the sister to London’s balls. A threatening note causes her to flee and take on work as a menial in a clergy household when she discovers that she is now unexpectedly the guardian of her younger niece. When it is necessary to return to London under the protection her elite friend she is again targeted by unwelcome advances and threats. There is competition for her among the secretive British agents connected to her elite sibling friends. The end is filled with surprises as mysterious source of the threats is revealed. It’s a real nail biter at the end.
A long story was somewhat boring. Only stayed with the book because I was curious as to how it would play out. Things were happening but, I just couldn’t get what, then suddenly light at the end of the tunnel. Characters really had no spark or romance. It was witty and some action near the end.
Love this book
You just don’t know what’s going to happen next with Agatha and Henry but you root for them anyway!
Great story. Made me realize how blessed we women are to live in this time period. And be thankful to the women who blazed the trail for us with their courage and fortitude!
Enjoyed reading this
Whodunnit kind of spy caper, missed opportunities and love will prevail type of story.
I couldn’t get away from the computer screen! I read the whole thing through non-stop and then bought the next three books to read. I am on the third one at the moment. I would recommend the whole series published to date to anyone!
This is the first book in the ‘Brambridge Novels’, one of my favorite series. It is just the kind of story I love to read: fast-moving, suspenseful, and romantic with a happy ending.
I Highly Recommend all six books in this fabulous series by this brilliant author.
it wasnt bad but wandered a bit before getting back to the story line. Better editing would have improved it
Interesting twists
Bit too long.
Even tho some of the plot elements were very promising, the execution was not. Anachronisms abound, story continuity was lacking, some events made no sense. Needed a good edit and then some.
I like the spy story mixed with the romance.
I enjoyed meeting these characters!
