My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:1. I’m in a coma.2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.3. Sometimes I lie.Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. … happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it’s the truth?

I liked the pace of this book and my attempts to figure out the perpetrator. Four stars for the abrupt ambiguous ending
I was never sure where the book was heading. Great characters.
I did not care for the main character
Good read!!
It made for a great discussion at our book club. It’s one that keeps you guessing.
Sometimes I find a fun book. Yes this time.
I listened to the audio version and was on the edge of me seat all of the time!
This book offers the one thing I love…chapters set in different timeframes–Before, Then, Now, and After. I love a good challenge when it comes to piecing together information to solve the mystery. Alice Feeney has given us exactly this. A story that starts at the end and takes us to the beginning. Genius.
Amber is in a coma, yet she can’t remember how she got there. We learn what is happening in the present day, by what she overhears when her sister, Claire, husband Paul, and Edward, a man from her past talk in her room. Then we go back in time to the BEFORE chapters, which are read from a childhood diary. It’s in these chapters a twist to the story changes everything you thought up until now. Who Clarie and Amber really are and the mystery behind the tragic death of their parents. The THEN chapters, we learn the real relationship between Amber and her husband Paul, the struggle with his career as a writer and how the marriage appeared to be falling apart before Amber was found unconscious on the road. She overhears Clair ask Paul how he hurt his hand and fears he had something to do with her accident, but still can’t remember what happened. We also learn of Amber’s boss, Madilynn and the lengths Amber went to destroy her.
A tailspin of events build and twist into an ending you will not see coming.
Great job, Alice Feeney
This is a who-dun-it that seems to have no answers. Great book for book club discussions or around the table conversation. Alice Feeney keeps the reader engrossed from beginning to end with her characters. Can’t wait for the next book from her.
I thought I had this book figured out so many times, but boy was I wrong. This book started out a little slow for me, but when I finished I understood why, as you really needed to get to know the characters. Definitely one to add to your summer reading list
Suspenseful. You never know what to believe.
The only reason why it was unpredictable was because the twists were so out of left field that I had no clue what would be considered “logical” enough.
I enjoyed this book. I had to reread some parts and I was still confused in keeping the characters straight. I was so confused at the end & had lots of questions about the ending.
Confusing book. Couldn’t keep up with the twists.
This was a thriller and a real page turner! It had so many twists and turns. The ending left me reeling and wondering what just happened! I hope there is a sequel. This is a book that you must read because it is just too hard to describe.
The book ended with a twist I never saw coming
Good twist
Excellent 5 stars
Wow! I am very grateful that I received a copy of this book from Flatiron Books!Thank you thank you!
My name is Amber Reynolds.
There are three things you should know
1. I’m in a coma
2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore
3. Sometimes I lie
This intriguing seesaw of a ride begins when Amber wakes up in her own mind in a hospital bed, lying in a coma
As time goes on she struggles to remember the details of how she got there , as her husband and sister visit her, she so desperately tries to recall her life “before her accident”
Amber relives her memories through her childhood diaries and tries to piece it all together, she has strong instincts that her husband had something to do with her accident but she just can’t get a grip on what is real in and out of her paralyzed, comatose self, and the lies we find out are nothing less than bold!
I don’t always like books like this that transcend from the now to the then , however Alice Feeney has this writing style down to a science! I had to give this gripping psych thrill ride of a book 5 big stars as I could not put it down from the get go, and it kept me fascinated all the way through. Oh and don’t get me started on the jaw dropping finale that had me wanting to read more !
Sometimes I lie is a mind bending gripper you need to read!!
Sometimes I Lie By Alice Feeney is a great debut book, I’m certainly looking forward to more from this author. Narration By Stephenie Racine is, as always, spot-on perfection!!! Storyline is a bit dark, and loaded with twists and turns. I highly recommend!
