LuxuryPrestigePrivilege My life sounds like a dream, but it comes at a price. Responsibilities and expectations are par for the course as a senator’s son, but I’m beginning to suffocate under their heavy weight. Looking for an escape, I pack my bags and head to the mountains for a reprieve from the chaos. What I find when I get there? A petite waitress with killer legs and a heart of gold. Abby … petite waitress with killer legs and a heart of gold. Abby is my complete opposite in every way, but that doesn’t keep me from falling for her.
I’m not the only one under her spell.
When a scorned admirer resurfaces to exact his revenge, It’s up to me to keep her from falling into his clutches. I have only seconds to act before her fate is sealed and if I fail, I risk losing her forever.

Oh my! Hooked from the start. A chance meeting and instant chemistry. Abby & Jacob are genuine and their emotions are real, absolutely loved the connection. Ashley Cade delivers a dynamic story. This was a beautifully written and heartwarming story until it wasn’t…and I wanted to scream at the author! I did not see that ending coming. Talk about a plot thickens. I downloaded book #2 in the Wild Hearts series so I can continue the story.
This is the first of Ashley Cade’s that I have read. I loved the story of Abby and Jake. Jake slips away from his high profile life in DC with his best friend to a little R and R in West Virginia. He meets Abby, a double job working college student. They end up spending the two weeks together with a real slow burn until it gets the best of them a they erupt. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the story. I sure it will be just as explosive.
I decided to try this author on recommendation from a friend. I am so happy I did! The story flowed so well, I didn’t want to put it down! The characters are loveable with some realistic quirks which I loved! Book 2 is on my Read list for this weekend!
By the end of this book, I became a full fledged fan of Jacob and Abby. They only had 2 weeks with each other and the author captured how these lovers are able to overcome (the normal life obstacles that require a slow build up of being with another person) in order to experience the passion offered if they honor the window of time given to them. And they do!! Oh boy do they ever. There’s enough steam to keep you turning the pages rapidly to find out how it unravels. I hope Abby and Jacob have a happily ever after!
I really enjoyed reading Something That Could Last. Abby and Jacob are from two different worlds but that doesn’t stop them from falling in love. Their chemistry is instant, but their relationship is a very emotional rollercoaster. Can’t wait to read the next book. Recommend this.
So I finished reading this book a couple weeks ago and let me tell you. it was so good! I haven’t had a book hangover like this one in so so long. Ashley Cade absolutely killed it with this book.
I love the storyline of this book and that the main characters come from SUCH different worlds, yet have such an amazing connection. She did such a good job writing these characters that I felt like I knew them.
When I finished this book, I immediately messaged Ashley Cade telling her how badly I needed the next book because she gave us such a huge cliffhanger. So with all of that being said, and trying not to leave spoilers, I’m going to tell you guys that I loved this book so much. I give it 5/5 and urge you to hurry and read it before the next one comes out!
4 stars
This book was really good and that ending…ahhh! Abby and Jacob meet and have a summer fling that turns to love. He’s a rich, city boy and she’s a poor, country girl, but they make it work. Their 2 friends, Tiff and Luke, really weren’t my cup of tea, but I came around to them. I hated that the book ended on kind of a cliff hanger and can’t wait to read the next one!
I received this arc from Netgalley for an honest review.
Something That Could Last is good read. Jacob is from money. He’s escaping to West Virginia with his friend (Luke) to enjoy the great outdoors. Even though Jacob is from money, he’s a good guy. He’s not snobby at all. He’s nice and sweet. I really like him. Abby is a sweet down to earth girl. Neither is looking for love when they meet. They have a great connection. This one is a sweet slow burn romance. There story had me hooked from beginning to end. The ending surprised me, I wasn’t expecting that type of ending. I was expecting a HEA but instead I got left wanting more. I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is my first book by Cade and I really liked her writing style! I love the drive that Abby has. She wants to go to school and works to make it happen! I love how she is proud of her heritage. I really enjoyed Jacob. I thought that he was sweet and I liked how he was trying to figure out what life is. I loved how they are two people from two different worlds and how neither were looking for the other. I thought that the interactions between Abby and Jacob were sweet and fitting. This book was a total slow burn in a fast paced environment but it worked perfectly. I am curious to see what the plans are for the next book! Will Abby and Jacob story continue or will we get a different couple?
Ahhhhhhhhh I was NOT expecting a cliffhanger of that magnitude. I kept turning the pages wanting more, lol. I simply loved Jacob and Abby from the beginning to end. It was a slow burn but instant attraction between these two. I liked how it showed how their relationship developed. They are from completely different sides of the world. Jacob is the son of a wealthy US Senator and Abby was a waitress juggling two jobs and completing college. They were both driven and gravitated towards each other when they met over the summer. Jacob immediately knew that she wasn’t going to be a summer fling. In the short period of time these two get to know each other better than what other have known from them and they go thru a very scary moment also. But then it’s time for Jacob to leave and oh my heart. And poor Abby. But boy I can’t wait for the conclusion.
What happens when you met someone that you aren’t supposed to fall in love with? Jacob is a Senator’s son, and needs to get out of the limelight for a bit. When he and his best friend Luke decide to take a few weeks to hang out, they end up in a small West Virginia town where they meet Abby and her best friend Tiff. Tiff and Luke of course get along well, but it’s Abby and Jacob that really enjoy spending their time together even though they know that Jacob eventually has to go back to his real life.
I absolutely loved these two characters. Their chemistry was perfect and there is really no other way to describe it. Tiff and Luke were great secondary characters, but I’m glad this wasn’t their story. I would definitely recommend this book to just about anyone!
They say opposites attract. I never believed that until I met Abby.
I was an Ivy League student, the eldest son of an affluent family, living a life of luxury and rubbing elbows with D.C.’s elite. Sounds great, right? Too bad prestige comes with a price.
When the expectations became too much, I decided to escape to the hills of West Virginia with my best friend for a summer of fun, some R & R and a little white water rafting. I wanted to lose myself in the outdoors, but instead found Abby. A petite waitress and all around spitfire, she knocked me off my game, making me want more than the casual, no strings attached relationships I was used to.
To me, she’s not just another summer fling. She’s something that could last.
Loved this book. The writing was flawless and the story beautifully written. As different as Abby & Jacob are they just worked. Jacob’s best friend Luke was a great addition to the book! I enjoyed every page of this book and can’t wait to read book 2.
Odd couple, small town, slow burn romances are the BEST. This one was fantastic, but I feel I should warn you, ends on a cliffhanger. If you aren’t good with those (I’m not, and was very frustrated when there were no more pages but a lot of story left to tell) don’t start until the next one is out!
Abby and Jacob are mismatched in every way. She’s a small town waitress and he’s an Ivy league son of a senator. They come together while he’s trying to escape the pressures of his life for a bit and they suit each other well. It’s one of those instant, intense chemistry situations – love finding you when you definitely aren’t looking!
The side characters of Tiff and Luke give a good lead-in and they are a good addition to this story, as is the town as a whole.
Recommend if you need a sweet small town, odd couple read!
1/2
Jacob is from a wealthy family and goes to an Ivy League college but he needs a break at some point from all the chaos that comes with being a Senator’s son. He decides to take 2 weeks off during the Summer to a small town with his best friend Luke.
Abby is just a small town girl that’s struggling to put herself through college by working two jobs during the Summer and she’s also helping her grandmother which she’s lived with for years. Losing a father at 10 and a mother to drugs, all she has left is her grandmother.
When Jacob goes on a zip line excursion he sees Abby which works there. It is an instant attraction. Soon these two realize they are from two totally different worlds and Abby is hesitant and thinks she’s not good enough for this Ivy League guy. Jacob on the other hand is enamored with this strong girl with such a big heart.
Something That Could Last is a sweet and steamy read. This is my first read by Ashley Cade and definitely not my last. I loved Jacob and Abby although they come from two separate worlds they both have strong characters. I fell fast and hard for these two and although it ends on a cliffhanger, which I usually hate, it leaves me wanting more! I’m looking forward to devouring the second in this series!!
Something That Could Last by Ashley Cade this is the story of Abby and Jacob.
Jacob is the rich son of a Senator that goes to the best schools but takes a break to head to West Virginia where he ends up meeting Abby. Abby is totally different from him and the girls that he usually runs into. Abby is holding down two jobs to pay for her college and has only ever been able to depend on herself. But the sparks fly and feelings become engaged. Enjoyed their story and can’t wait for the next part.
This is a new author to me but I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. Abby and Jacob are total opposites as Jacob comes from a privileged life, where as Abby works two jobs to help pay for her college tuition. This is an engaging story which is sweet, steamy, humorous, and is a slow burn romance with witty banter thrown in. I was intrigued and hooked throughout and look forward to the sequel. I recommend for all readers.
I really enjoyed this book! I am a little sad about how it ended and I hope there is news of a sequel soon. This was a well-written opposites attract story. I loved Abby and Jacob, but I need more right now!
This was a slow burn, new adult, sweet romance. Abby is a good complex character and we get to see all sides of her throughout this story. From sweet and unsure to bold and sassy. Jacob is a swoon worthy hero as he never expects to meet someone like Abby but know that she is “his one” and will do everything to show her that he cares.
Love happens in 14 days and it is really sweet to see all of the ways that Jacob is willing to go to woo Abby. His life is so different than hers but they just click. When they have to separate both are devastated and more obstacles are placed between them.
This doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, per se. The story just ends and I felt like I was just left hanging. I read that the story continues, which makes me really happy because I am now invested in Abby and Jacob’s story and I need to find out how it ends.
Something That Could Last was an interesting and sweet story. That ending about did me in! The writing flowed smoothly and gave both points of view.
Abby is an outdoors kind of girl with a strong head and big heart. I appreciated her because she is sure of what she wants and isn’t afraid to get it. Jacob is such a beautiful soul with an abundance on his plate. These two characters balance each other out and it’s lovely to see.
Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of reading the same situation twice, even if it was from a different perspective. However, I enjoyed this book and am hoping there’s a second book to see what happens next. This was my first read by this author and I was not disappointed.
I had a hard time reading this. The main character is whiny and kind of pathetic. A few things in the storage just didn’t make sense to me. Nothing wrong with the writing itself just wasn’t my favorite story
