Zack Finding my teammate in bed with my wife made the decision I had been fighting with for years easier. It’s time to move on. A fresh start and a new NHL team in a big city. Most importantly, it’s my son Jack’s best shot. It would be both of our best shots. Denise After a bad childhood, I made sure I would succeed. The problem is I die a little with each patient I lose. It’s part of my career … shots.
Denise
After a bad childhood, I made sure I would succeed.
The problem is I die a little with each patient I lose. It’s part of my career at Hudson Children’s Oncology Hospital, but it doesn’t make the sting of loss any easier.
Seeking anything other than a life saved isn’t on my agenda until a NHL player walks into my hospital with his son.
We’re officially off script the moment we meet.
If this love is anything, it’s unscripted.

I loved this book so much! Each book I think I can’t pick which one I like more because each just hits in the feels a little bit different. This story made me laugh, cry and everything in between. Denise has always been a fave, with how loving and dedicated she is. And once we meet zack you can’t help but live him too. He is the definition of a great guy definite swoon worthy and total book boyfriend material with his bright blue eyes and dark hair, body of a hockey god and an amazing man and father. They three of them; Denise, Jack and zack were adorable. Loved how much Denise loved Jack as if he was her son. And it makes it so much better since Jack obviously never had that or the motherly attention. This story was amazing. And the epilogues just brought such smiles to my face!
Tears!
Okay Zack, Denise, and Jack had me in tears several times through this book. My heart is full after that amazing epilogue and I’m so sad to see the Stinger family goes (I read the THIS IS SERIES first – so I’m saying goodbye to the whole gang) I really hope that we get the next generation with Cooper, Vivi, Franny, Alex, Michael and the all the kids I don’t want to leave the Stone/Grant family
Zach a hockey player, and his son Jack who has cancer move to NYC for treatment at the hospital.
Dr. Denise an oncologist becomes Jack’s doctor. Denise falls for the little boy and Jack becomes
attached to her. Zach’s cheating wife plays a role in the story that is mainly about Jack’s
treatment and Zach’s falling for Denise. Natasha Madison weaves a tale of heartbreak, love and
triumph. Other characters from previous books are included and the family that develops between
Jack, Zach and Denise’s family and friends is heartwarming. The book will take you on a roller
coaster ride and make you laugh and cry. A special book I highly recommend.
PS: have a box of tissues for the end of the book.
It’s always a really hard storyline when you are dealing with a character that is sick with cancer let alone a child. So if that is something that you can’t deal with this books may be something you may want to avoid that being said it’s a beautiful book full of my favorite characters from this series along with some great new characters like Zach and jack Marrow. Zach just walked in on his wife and his best friend and fellow team mate in bed together and it’s the final straw for a marriage that had long ago died. Zach makes the decision to take his son Jack with him to New York so they can get the help of Dr. Denise Horton because Jack is very sick. Denise immediately falls in love with the 5 year old and then falls in love with Zach. The 3 face some difficult battles but in the end there is an amazing HEA for all of them.
Well now I have inhaled this series without pause, which would be great if it wasn’t days to Christmas and my to do list wasn’t longer than Santa’s naughty list. All of which has been ignored and neglected while I binge read these.
Anyway this one wasn’t my favourite but I still loved it. Zack was a new character to the group and he was a lot less alpha than the other guys. But then I think that was probably for the best. He suited Denise and they worked perfectly together.
Zack had so much going on with his sick son and awful ex-wife. He really needed the caring, compassionate Denise on his side to help him through it all. And having Jack be as much a part of the story as Zack and Denise was awesome. He had moments where he broke my heart, as a parent, I can’t imagine how you could go through that.
I really did enjoy the book. I loved that the whole crew was there, yet they were secondary characters. And I would have been so sad to see this series end except I just read the beginning of This is Crazy and I can’t wait to go read Zara’s story because there’s no way that won’t be entertaining.
This couple rocks!!!!! The lives they lead, the people they love…wonderful. Every story has to have a evil bitch, I mean witch. She dropped the house on herself. Because that’s all she got. Lol. The hope, faith, love, support. …loved ones need to go through what they did. Great ending. Love You Forever…I read this to my daughter. One of our favorite books. Reading it now that she grown, brought tears to my eyes. Good memories.
All the stars for Zack, Denise and Jack! The love Denise found for both Zack and Jack was heartbreakingly beautiful. The way she handled herself during the rough parts was amazing and Zack and Denise’s happily ever after was perfect. Also perfect was that last Epilogue, I had tears in my eyes for that chapter. A perfect story!
This is the fourth book in this series and I am utterly in love with this book and these characters. Zack moves with his son to start over and then he meets Denise who hes completely captivated by and she is also atttacted to him. These two were just so perfect for each other. I really adored Jack and how cute he was! Really loved this story and could not put down at all!!!!
What an emotional read this was! I absolutely could not put this down. I was a blubbering mess through most of it, so I warn you to not read in public and to have some provisions (Kleenex) ready. I loved Zack and Denise’s story. Loved seeing all of the gang from previous books. This book causes the reader to feel a range of emotions from humor to love to pure awe. Loved the epilogues. No cliffhanger. Dual point of view.
5 ’Beautiful’ Stars
This book is pure perfection! I laughed and cried, but also swooned all the time.
*More than 5 stars worth*
“You have a light in you that shines so brightly it can’t be dimmed”
I’m a bit at a loss for words and I’m trying to think how to review this book and do it the justice it deserves. I have read some of the author’s books before but this one just blew it all out of the water for me and I really believe it’s one of her best ones yet! The story touched me so deeply and I had tears in my eyes when reading ‘cuz some of the topics in the story just hit me so hard. This book is so worth the read and will leave you wanting more!
Zack has caught his wife cheating and he is just done with everything. He packs up and leaves with his son to New York to try and rebuild his life but most of all to take care of his son in the best possible way. In order to do that he needs the best doctor for his son and that’s when he meets Denise. Even though his ex is still causing trouble, he’ll do whatever it takes to give his son the best care he needs…
Denise has overcome a lot in her life and is now at a point where she finally believes she has the career she was meant to have but still something inside seems to be missing. When Zack and his son come into her life, she’ll do whatever it takes to try and give Jack the best care he deserves. In the process she and Zack become closer and maybe, just maybe, they’ll find something they’ve both longed to have…
Such an amazing story loved every thing about this book. Really enjoyable to read. Love a good hockey romance. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
When Zack finds his wife in bed with another man. A teammate, just to add to the betrayal, that seals his fate, as in the end of the marriage. It’s also the end of the relationship for his son too. Jack is battling a life threatening illness. His mother is more concerned about how that affects her, as in the appearance of dealing with a sick child, more than any concern for her sick child.
Zack seeks help in the form of Denise, a dedicated, and caring doctor who works in the Hudson’s Children’s Oncology Hospital, where she deals with life and death each day. Trying desperately to save children’s lives. She’s part of the ice hockey scene too, and it doesn’t take long for a relationship to build between Zack and Denise, but also between Jack and Denise. She loves him as if her were her own son. With the race on, to see if he is a suitable candidate for a trial drug, it’s a nail biting time. Another family battling the same thing and at risk of losing their child too, leads to a friendship between the two patients and the families. Overall, an emotional read, and one of those sweet, romantic reads. Oh, and the second epilogue, yeah, I wondered if that might come to pass, and I was right.
Something So Unscripted is LIFE!!!! I am still reeling after reading it and I simply can’t get over how beautifully written it is. Something So Unscripted is the most passionate and the BEST book Natasha Madison has written to date. It is also one of the most heartfelt, emotional and poignant books I’ve ever read. The story line is flawless and every single aspect of this book is on point. Zack, Denise and Jack’s (Zack’s adorable and courageous son) story is incredible and their bond in unbreakable. Their epic journey will fill you with love, hope and strength. While you will definitely need your tissue box ready, trust me it’s definitely worth reading and the epilogue is nothing short of amazing. I HIGHLY recommend it!!!!
Natasha Madison never seizes to amazing me with her incredibly addictive and beautifully captivating writing style. Every time I open up one of her books I know that there is no way I am putting it down until I have devoured the entire thing from beginning to end. I began this story at 8am when I woke up and couldn’t fall back to sleep for a couple of hours. Unfortunately after cruising through the first 54% I had to set it down to go and do adult things (like attend class and work). The moment I got home my kindle was powered up and I inhaled the last 46% in a little over an hour.
Something So Unscripted is the kind of story that will engulf you whole body and soul. The intense emotion, love and heartache is almost to much to bare, but in the best way possible. My heart bled for Zack he endure something no parent should have to go through. It’s hard almost losing a child and having to go through a divorce all at the same time. His son Jack is so strong at only the age of 5 and I wept for his struggle.
Now we cannot forget Denise, an extraordinary doctor who will do anything to heal each and everyone of her patients. She has a heart of gold and I loved how her words can put people at ease in seconds. She is one of the kindest people you will every meet! I loved everything about these two and the insta-love connection was dynamite. Oh and let’s not forget how amazing Denise is for both Zack and Jack. A match made in heaven for sure!
This is one of my favorite Natasha Madison reads and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
I don’t even know what to say right now. I have so many emotions running even after completing this a day a go. I don’t ever remembering a novel that had me tears from beginning to end. Sure of I have read my fair share of ugly cries, but Something So Unexpected was definitely an exception.
You see I literally cried from the get go and didn’t stop the whole way through. Whether it was tears of heartache, tears of anger or tears of joy. It didn’t matter what emotion I was feeling, it still came with tears and a whole lot of them.
In this beautifully written, heartfelt read we meet Zack and Denise.
Zack is a pro hockey player, plays for Arizona. Happily married, with a beautiful little boy, life is nothing short of perfect for Zack.
But two things irrevocably change the course of his life.
A cheating wife and an extremely sick child.
Within a week Zack takes off to New York, transferring hockey teams, leaving his wife behind, taking his little boy with him.
Zack needs help.
He needs someone to save the only thing he cherishes more than life itself….His little by Jack.
Denise is an oncology doctor, specifically working with children. Life for Denise had always and I mean ALWAYS been a struggle, but with the help of her brother Max and her determination, she made a life for herself.
Her dream of being a doctor, to help others became her reality.
She lives and breathes to help those who need it most.
But what she never expects on a visit to her brothers is a little boy that captured her heart.
And the question that Denise keeps asking herself over and over….Can I really help him?
Can I really help Zack and his beautiful bundle of joy Jack?
Guys this novel is nothing short of spectacular. It’s packed with every emotion that you could possibly ever feel.
It was instant love for me when it came to Zack and Denise. But guys for me, the one who completely captured my heart and soul….Jack.
I can’t even begin to describe the emotion I felt for this little boy. Such a bright, funny, but timid little guy with a heart so full of love to give. His strength and fight was nothing short of breathtaking.
And also guys, please keep your eye out for Evie. She is certainly one special little girl.
A perfect read.
5 stars
Zack doesn’t mind getting dirty when he has to, “I didn’t give Denise a chance to cop out of dinner, so I made sure to tell Jack. It was a low blow probably, but guess what? I didn’t give a **** anymore.” Denise likes to throw Zack’s lines back at him, “…getting up and fixing my morning b***r as she laughs. “Definitely need to explore that more,” she says, pointing at my ****.” Wow… This book was everyhting, this one is very close to my heart because I know what Zack and Denise went through with Jack because I had to do the same thing for my Granny. I really loved this book.
I began on this journey with no background into this book and may I say that I was blown away. It filled me with so many emotions that i was overwhelmed and excited! This is an amazing sports romance.
Zack is a single dad that is recently separated. Denise is a strong smart doctor that will do anything for her patients , they are all her children once they are in her care.
They are brought together by Zack’s son Jack. He has cancer and they are in need of the best and they have found her. I absolutely fell in love with Jack , such a sweet kind boy.
A strong independent woman that gives 110% and a father that will move Heaven and Earth for his son. Yes is sweet , romantic , sexy , heartwarming , sad and you will see some drama from his Ex but that is what makes it the whole package
Loved it !!

My Mind is seriously blown right now!! I have read everything from the author and it Amazes me that she can write anything. Some people stick to what they are good at and they need too, but not Natasha Madison she seriously rocks out every and anything. This book was so much more than her other works, and dealt with a serious topic, Cancer, it was moving and she makes you want to climb in the pages and comfort the characters. I am so impressed she kept it real to her and her other works, but this read just substantially more.
Denise is Max’s sister from the previous book and she is an oncology Doctor, a great one. She is asked to become the Dr. of Max’s new teammates son. Zack is a devoted father that will do and has done everything for Jack, who is a five year old sweetheart suffering from cancer. Zack has to be both parents to Jack since his Mom isn’t a Mom, she SUCKS. Dr Denise takes the case and in turn she loses her heart to this perfect little boy. I think it was remarkable the relationship that Jack and Denise had way before she had anything for Zack, and Denise man did she wear her heart on her sleeve. A phenomenal read that will give you tingles and tears. A Must Read
This book, these characters, this story is everything.
I was lucky enough to read this book quite a while ago, but it has taken me until now to be able to put my love for it into words, as I’ve never read anything as powerful, as emotional, as beautiful. I have loved and devoured every word Natasha Madison has ever written, and this is her best work ever, it’s just phenomenal, there are no words to describe my love for this book. Weeks later, I’m still in a book hangover from this powerful story of love, family and overcoming obstacles to have the best life possible.
After finding his wife in bed with a teammate, Zack heads for New York with his young son Jack, to not only get away from the betrayal, but to move close to Dr Denise Horton, a renowned Children’s Oncologist, and his new teammates sister.
For Denise, her job is everything, working with children with cancer is the hardest thing to do, but also reaps the greatest rewards. When she meets the newly single Dad and his beautiful son, she immediately falls in love with the happy little boy, wanting nothing more than to help him. As the single Dad and his sons doctor get closer, sparks fly, and love begins to grow.
Another thing this Author excels at is writing a fantastic epilogue and this one was out of this world, and left me with tears of joy and a huge grin on my face.
This story took me on an emotional rollercoaster with ups, downs and tears galore, and left me feeling like my heart was going to burst from all the feels it gave me. In my eyes, this story gets 1,000,000 stars. I will be reading this over and over again for years to come.
