I adored this awesome office romance. I won’t go into spoiler details but trust me when I say this is not your typical office romance. Kudos to the author for a job well done.
The storyline is very well written and had me laughing and smiling throughout. As for the characters, oh my gosh, they couldn’t have been more perfect for the parts they were given. I fell in love with both Miller and Claire. So much so, that I found myself rooting for each of them, teetering back and forth between who was right. The author portrayed them is such a manner that I felt like I not only knew them but I could see right into their hearts and minds. And oh what devious and hilarious minds they have.
The book held me hostage from the start when Miller needs a fake date to his sister’s wedding (to avoid his mother’s continual setup) and he attempts to persuade Claire into helping him out last minute on an airplane no less. Even though he is her bosses boss and she can’t stand him (for spoiler reasons I can’t explain), she reluctantly agrees. From their crazy family’s, to backstabbing co-workers and fates infernal interface I was absolutely glued to the pages.
This is a funny, sexy, heartwarming storyline that you don’t want to miss out on. I highly recommend grabbing it up ASAP, you won’t be sorry you did. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 adoring Stars.
Where do I start and can I do this book justice!!!! Well I guess I start with Something Like Hate captivated me from the first page to the last line it was a book I couldn’t put down. This book has all the feels you want it a great read, it’s funny, it’s sad, it will tug on your heartstrings, it has plenty of witty banter, a fair bit of saucy banter and Miller and Claire’s story will certainly keep you turning the pages. This book touched me on so many different levels, I loved Miller and Claire, I loved their story and I loved how this author told their story.
This a beautifully written story that I highly recommend so do yourself a favour and join Miller and Claire’s journey it’s a ride you don’t want to miss!!
Claire Solis somehow gets roped into being her boss’s date for his sister’s destination wedding when Claire and her girlfriends end up on the same flight with Miller Archer. Claire and Miller then spend one blissful weekend together, talking and making plans for their future. The next morning, Claire wakes up and Miller is gone, but when she gets back to work and a major problem is blamed on her and Miller does nothing to come to her defense, Claire quits and takes a job in New York City.
They say revenge is a dish best served cold, and Claire has waited three years to destroy Miller for the way he handled things after their weekend together. Now she’s moving back to Denver and plans to steal away his business, one client at a time. Little does Claire know, but Miller has other ideas and he’s managed to influence things so he and Claire will see each other daily. He’s determined to make amends and win back Claire’s heart, no matter what it takes.
This is an author whose new releases I always try to get my hands on. Not only does she tell a terrific story, but the characters are delightful and her writing style makes the story flow seamlessly and keeps the reader’s attention from the first page to the last. Added to that is just the right touch of humor, a good dose of emotion to tug at the heartstrings and plenty of delicious chemistry. I adore both Claire and Miller and their road to forever is not only heart felt and poignant but also fun, witty, and all around fantastic! This author is skilled at drawing the reader into the imaginary world, making her a part of the story, and leaving her wanting more, so don’t miss this one click read!

Something Like Hate had so many of my go tropes in one book that I swear it was written for me. (It wasn’t really) This story is a office romance, pretend girlfriend, love/hate, second chance and so much more. I enjoyed every word written, even the angsty stuff. Claire and Miller were awesome, their banter made me laugh, and there were times I wanted to scream, Miller do you know why? Whether they were in the bedroom or out, they were so passionate, and I simply adored them.
If you like a fast paced, light hearted, fake relationship, then this is a book for you!
Oh, Claire and Miller… My heart.
I knew going into this that it would be something special… and I was not proven wrong. Claudia Burgoa knows how to write a romance with a punch and this one had that punch.
This book holds everything I love. A feisty, fiery heroine and an alpha male. I was in heaven
Claire was a fireball that was not afraid to be herself, to stand up for herself, and for those that are close to her. She strong-willed, and will fight for what she believes in. I loved everything about this character.
Miller is an alpha CEO, dominant, arrogant and when he wants something, he gets it. He is everything I love in a male lead. EVERYTHING. So. damn. hot. And I was a fan right from the beginning. Like, can he be my boss, please??
He doesn’t want a relationship. He loves the single life. He is in his prime but when forced to ask Claire to be his fake girlfriend, things changed and what starts out as anything but love, slowly grows, to insanely hot sex, lust, passion and then love, with twists and turns along the way. These two were hot as hell. Like kindle melting HOT! I devoured this,… Twice. I couldn’t get enough.
This book held so much. It was an Office Romance/Enemies to Lovers/Rom-com and more. It had it all. I laughed, I sighed happily, and it kept me on my toes packed with hate, lust, passion, romance, heat, angst, and one hell of a HEA… It ticked all the right boxes in my opinion and will be a book I will be going back to read again, and probably again.
I LOVED IT
Claudia’s writing style was on point and she made it easy to fall head over heels for these two characters. I devoured this book with ease.
THIS IS A MUST READ. No bullshit. READ IT!
5 spicy hot stars!
Claudia Burgoa has always delivered such beautiful books. Something Like Hate is just that, it was so heartfelt. What you would assume is an office romance as both Claire and Miller worked for the same company turned out to be a fake relationship story with some twists and turns along the way.
I love how Claudia creates these characters that are relatable and that will capture your attention. Claire and Miller has great chemistry and I found were well developed. You feel as if you know them with all the details given.
Something Like Hate will have you captivated from the very beginning. Claudia is an amazing writer and will have your heart and head all over the place. She will pull on your heartstrings until the very end. This is a fabulous read as Claudia never ceases to amaze me. I highly recommend this book!!
We get to meet Miller right off the bat. Who is he and what does he do for a living? What is his mother trying to get him to do? Who is Stacey Remington? What happens when Claire goes on vacation from work with her two best friends? When Miller runs into them at the airport, things get very interesting! What happens with Devon and Greg back at work while Claire is still on vacation? While MIller is at his sister’s wedding and decides to extend his stay, what happens? Man, Miller royally screws things up!!! The question that must be asked is, “Can he fix what he messed up??” Read this story to see.

Claudia Burgoa has delivered another incredible, hilarious and exceptionally written romantic comedy. Something Like Hate gave me everything I wanted and so much more. It’s a creative blend of humor and steamy sexy times with just a touch of angst.
Miller and Claire were so easy to fall in love with and I just couldn’t get enough of these two. They were well developed characters which I became completely invested in and loved every moment of their story. Their fake relationship/enemies to lovers trope was executed wonderfully. And with their sizzling chemistry and sexual innuendos, I just knew these two were going to heat up the bedroom. Trust me when I say, Miller and Claire were down right explosive together and seriously burned up the sheets!!!
Claire was my spirit animal with her sassy, smart mouth and fierce personality. I truly loved her character from beginning to end. I mean as soon as I read her nicknames for Miller and what she thought of him in the beginning had me laughing out loud!! And Miller, with his charming demeanor and the hero you love to hate at times, still managed to capture my heart. He was full of witty banter and certainly gave Claire (of course he had nicknames for her too) as much as he got. Although they made each other crazy sometimes and their relationship certainly wasn’t easy (cue the angst), Ms. Burgoa did a very good job of demonstrating without a doubt, that these two were meant to be together.
Something Like Hate was delightful, sweet and sexy in all the right places. This book is exactly what I needed to put a huge smile on my face and to make my heart happy. It’s a definite one-click worthy, five star read!!
I fell in Love with Miller and Claire when they first appeared in the vacation anthology collection, Spring Fling. I am so, so happy that Burgoa gave us more of their fun, and steamy, forbidden/second chance romance!
Claire Solis is hardworking and extremely talented at creating social media campaigns. She is about to embark on a vacation with her friends when she happens to run into the very demanding and sexy CEO of her company on her flight. Miller is on his way to his sisters wedding at the same tropical location. He is desperate to convince the very beautiful Claire to help him avoid his mothers matchmaking. Claire is determined to enjoy her vacation. When Claire gives in to help Miller for the weekend, she never expected to have fun with the surprisingly kind, loving, and swoony man who put her before everything. Miller knew Claire was smart, but he was seduced by how in tune and protective she was with him. When they agree to a casual, no strings weekend, neither wanted it to end. But when work gets in the way and unexpected and shocking events happen, they are torn apart, breaking both their hearts. Years later, they meet again under very different conditions. Miller was a changed man thanks to Claire, and now he needed to break down her walls, to earn her forgiveness and trust. He is determined to prove to her that they are meant to be together, forever. Burgoa took Miller and Claire on a very unexpected journey that was so engaging, fun, and sexy. I loved Claire’s strength, and sass, and Miller was so kind, patient, and swoony, and their chemistry leaped right off the page! I really loved their family who were all so loving, and supportive, and added some of the most hilarious moments! This is a wonderful, witty, steamy story that will keep you turning the pages and capture your heart. I loved everything about this heartfelt, charming and sexy romance!
Loved this book!
5 Star Review of Something Like Hate by Claudia Y Burgoa
I have only read a couple of books by Claudia Burgoa. Each book has been well written with characters that I could easily relate to and this book was no exception. I was hooked from the first to the last chapter.
Claire is feisty, determined, strong and has no problem standing up for herself or those she believes in. Miller is definitely an alpha male who is equally as strong and arrogant at times.
Something Like Hate is spicy, humorous, a little angsty and at times frustrating. Feelings will be hurt and a betrayal will leave you reeling. Will the sacrifices made be worth it? Or can the trust which was broken be re built?
I really loved Miller and Claire, both separately and together, they really do make a great couple. The question is will they get their happily ever after?
One click and find out.
Wow! This felt like two stories in one. As soon as I broke the binding on this book, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Claire is exactly how I like my heroines. She is feisty, stands up for herself, takes no bull, and has a heart of gold. With such a strong female character, this book was a delight to devour. Miller Archer makes the perfect guy. He’s the guy you love…to hate. He is an alpha male, takes no prisoners, bulldozer of a guy. At the same time, you can see his façade crack and a heartbreaker emerge. Not only do you get two strong characters, but you get to travel to Cancun, New York City, Denver and maybe even London. The chemistry will burn the pages up and just as you think you’ll combust you shiver with the drastic change in temperature. From there you gradually warm up until you’re ignited again. At the end of the book, you will be fanning yourself and have a perma-grin on your face! I highly recommend this book to those who love an unputdownable book from beginning to end.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Something Like Hate by Claudia Y. Burgoa is a sweet and funny yet steamy rom-com. Miller owns a company and Claire works indirectly for him. Not surprisingly, limited office interactions between them have led to some preconceived ideas about each other. A chance encounter at an airport leads Miller to request a favor from Claire. And wow, does that one decision change so many things for them both. A judgement call by Miller develops into unintended consequences that don’t seem to be recoverable. Miller has a saying “Failure is not an option”. Fortunately, this determination will eventually serve him well. Love the humor in the story as well as Miller’s interactions with his family. This book is a perfect blend of angst sprinkled with humor and heat.
Anyone else think of that epic poem in 10 Things I Hate About you when they read this title? Just me…? Oh well!
Something Like Hate may sound a bit rough but it goes down smoother than Patron. I’m assuming Clase Azul level but I’ve never had it. #goals LOL.
I wasn’t sure what we were getting by the blurb. I was confused by the wording but make no mistake it means exactly what it says. This topsy turvy roller coaster of emotion, lust, and longing starts off easy. A quick fix proposition that spirals into chaos.
I was so startled by the reaction and my girl power flared into death to all men at the point “where they become enemies”. You see this is definitely not your average enemies to lovers. No, Claire and Miller only do things in intergalactic proportions.
The banter between these to will have you mesmerized. A virtual tennis match. I had the best time watching them volley. I may even have gotten whiplash. The nicknames are off the charts crazy and definitely amusing. Right, Clarice?
I genuinely had a blast reading this book. It was sexy and fun. It had me in tears and also smiling. I got violent and may have thrown punches (ok, well I wanted to!). I absolutely was heartbroken. I hurt and Claudia made me hurt for a long time so I suggest a medication of chocolate or wine to help you get through the painful parts!
Something Like Hate is absolutely a new favorite. I even had fun noticing honorable mentions throughout. Burgoa fans will smile at the references.
Something Like Hate had me decidedly unhateful towards it. Miller screwed up! (Its always the dude, right? LOL) But what you will learn about Miller Archer (aka E.P. and H.L.) is he always gets what he wants and isnt afraid to play the long game! (What an understatement!)
Enjoy it because I know hate will be the furthest word from your mind!

5 spicy hot stars!
Alright, Alrighty Then! Claudia knew what to write to pull on my heartstrings. This book was above all else so compassionate and loving. It exposed 2 very different people who didn’t believe necessarily in Love and Marriage. Yet, these two were Explosive in their connection and were drawn to each other with their souls.
Finding love is hard. Not looking for it can be confusing. However, Miller found Claire after one weekend of family obligation and couldn’t let her go even if he did the unthinkable. Claire was just the opposite. She knew love existed, yet her own experiences led her to making her career a priority. Miller Archer changes everything on 4 days and years later he makes his choices known even with a shady history. These two could only do one thing. And that one thing might hurt them both. Trust is the defining factor in this beautiful love story of pain and promise.
5 STARS
Enemies to lovers? Check. Second chance? Check. Workplace romance? Check. Fake girlfriend? Check. Billionaire? Check. This book hits so many of the major romance tropes and does a stellar job while doing it! The angst is real with this one, folks. Misunderstandings abound. Another great read from Burgoa
Oooooo this story is vengeance at it’s finest! A thin line between love and hate indeed!
Something Like Hate is the story of Miller and Claire. A chance circumstance brings these coworkers together and it also tears them apart.
The angst is off the charts! I kept turning pages wanting to see what happens.
Claire is a fantastic heroine. She is fierce, she is independent, and she is also fantastic in her career. I loved her strength after everything that had happened to her and what she accomplished. Her need for vengeance is strong, but also tempered with the fact of her feelings for Miller.
Oh Miller, what a hero. He is so wrapped up in his career and nothing will distract from that. Until the chemistry between Miller and Claire heat up the pages! He realizes the colossal mistake he made and bides his time until he can make things right again.
I loved the secondary characters, both Claire and Miller’s families bring so much more to the story!
I am so glad I was introduced and have the chance to read Ms. Burgoa’s stories!! You can’t go wrong! Get your hands on this standalone book!
Vacation Fling, Fake Girlfriend, Workplace Romance, Enemies to Lovers – Claudia Burgoa blends multiple tropes and I love how she did it. Something Like Hate has humor, steamy sex, a moderate amount of angst, and a whole lot of heart. It is a wonderful story of two people who meet and fall in love before either knows how to balance love with ambition, competitiveness, and sacrifice. When a mistake is made, it leads one to feel betrayed, decisions are made that cost the couple dearly. There is a fine line between love and hate and when one crosses that line, they may get where they wanted to be but who can they really trust when they get there and who will they share their success with? Can mistakes be forgiven? Can amends be made? Can trust lost be earned again? This is a spoiler free review, so you will have to read the book to find out!
This one had my emotions all over the place. I loved the characters, then I hated them, then I tolerated them and then I loved them again. I laughed, I raged, I will never admit to having any tears in my eyes. There were so many different feels and I couldn’t put the book down because I had to know which feeling was going to come next. Okay, okay. So, my breathing was a bit erratic and some extra moisture briefly accumulated in my eyes.
Something Like Hate isn’t an ugly cry book but you would have to be heartless to not experience some mild to moderate heartache for one or both of the characters. Since I said that, I will provide a lifeline to those sensitive to cheating (me, me, me). While there is betrayal and some real d-bag mistakes, there is absolutely no cheating in this book.
