USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa spins a new romantic comedy. This hot office rivalry romance will have you swooning and laughing your panties off!Between a troublesome client and my fake-girlfriend-for-my-sister’s-Cancun-wedding canceling at the last minute.
I’m having the day from hell.
Then I spot Claire. Sexy. Smart. Sassy.
So one of my superstar employees is boarding the same … superstar employees is boarding the same plane.
With her help, I could kill two problems with one tequila shot.
That thing about never mixing business with pleasure?
I should’ve remembered.
Now the hottest one-night stand I’ve ever had is my biggest business rival.
We’re after the same client.
I’m after her heart.
The trick is how to win one without losing the other.
Because when love has you by the balls, it’s time to play dirty.
It’s an enemies-to-lovers romance with just the right amount of heart and humor.
Something Like Hate is a full-length novel based on Miller and Claire’s short story, “The Accidental Hookup,” which was previously released in Spring Fling: A Romance Anthology.

Adored this story! This author is the Queen of Angst but I’m absolutely loving her lighter romantic reads! And, even this one still made me shed a few tears! LOL
“This magnificent creature who, in just a few hours, has been getting under my skin – and I want her under me before the night ends.”
Miller Archer needs a date for his sister’s wedding. When his plus one bails on him, at the last minute, he bumps into one of his star employees, Claire Solis, at the airport and he has a light-bulb moment. She’s perfect. Beautiful, sassy and going to the same destination as him. The frisson of attraction between them is definitely a bonus.
“I needed him to fill me, to claim me, to tell me I was his – just like he was mine.”
Claire really needs a vacation and the last person she wants to see is the big boss of her company. However, a little bribery goes a long way and, before she knows it, she’s playing his fake girlfriend. What starts out as a platonic pretend thing turns into something hot and, before the weekend is over, they make plans to move forward together. Unfortunately, things start to fall apart very quickly.
“She wants to go to battle and I’m willing to fight. We’re just not fighting for the same thing.”
A couple of years later, they are rivals. Claire wants her revenge, but Miller only wants HER. Unfortunately, he’s got his work cut out for him.
This story was originally a novella that was part of the Spring Fling anthology and I was thrilled to get a full length story about Claire and Miller. Claire is strong, courageous and confident. She’s not afraid to push her boundaries. She’s a good person and generally only has people’s best interests at heart. Miller has been burnt by love in the past, which makes it difficult for him to trust women. In his heart, he knows Claire is one of the good ones and one mistake cost him his happiness – a happiness he wasn’t even looking for. However, I loved how hard he fought for her when she was back in his life. Their story was sweet, super sexy, amusing and also emotional. Loved it!
I loved that Claudia took her novella from the Spring Fling Anthology and expanded it to give us a full length novel. Something Like Hate was a heart-felt, sweet rom-com and I loved it. This started out as a fake relationship that grew into more and then everything fell apart. This novel had me hook until the end, as it incorporated enemies to lovers, fake relationship, and second chance tropes all into one awesome story.
This couple Miller and Claire, had insane chemistry and it was easy to see why they fell for each other. They were both likable and you will be rooting for them throughout the story.
I loved that Claire was feisty and knew her worth. I loved that Miller realized what he lost and was determined to get it back. This novel will give you all the feels as we go on this journey with Miller and Claire. It was sexy, steamy, witty and engaging and you will love every minute of it.
Something Like Hate was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of Romantic Comedies.
Loved Claire and Miller’s story when it was in the Spring Fling Anthology and was so excited that we were going to have more from them. I was not dissappointed. This book is everything! Enemies to lovers, second chances, I didn’t put it down once I started it. Amazing book!!
Claudia has once again brought me on an emotional rollercoaster. I absolutely loved Miller and Claire….actually think I am going through “Miller withdrawal” LOL! This was a great read for me…finished it in one sitting. Go out and get this standalone and enjoy the wonderful story that will have you wanting more. Great romance!
Something like Hate is by far one of my absolute favorite books by Claudia Burgoa!! I first fell in love with Miller and Claire in The Accidental Hookup novella and I was so happy to get more of their story! The flow and storyline drew me in right away and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout! Their chemistry is fun and explosive! There are so many layers to both these characters and I loved the journey they took individually and as a couple! Didn’t want their story to end!!
Oooooo this story is vengeance at it’s finest!
A thin line between love and hate indeed!
Something Like Hate is the story of Miller and Claire.
A chance circumstance brings these coworkers together and it also tears them apart. The angst is off the charts! I kept turning pages wanting to see what happens.
Claire is a fantastic heroine. She is fierce, she is independent, and she is also fantastic in her career. I loved her strength after everything that had happened to her and what she accomplished. Her need for vengeance is strong, but also tempered with the fact of her feelings for Miller.
Oh Miller, what a hero. He is so wrapped up in his career and nothing will distract from that. Until the chemistry between Miller and Claire heat up the pages! He realizes the colossal mistake he made and bides his time until he can make things right again. I loved the secondary characters, both Claire and Miller’s families bring so much more to the story!
I am so glad I was introduced and have the chance to read Ms. Burgoa’s stories!! You can’t go wrong! Get your hands on this standalone book!
love this amazing intense beautiful frustrating emotional love story of Miller and Claire
pulled and my heart need more
I love Claudia Burgoa’s books, they are always heartfelt even when they are are the lighter side, and this one is no different. This book was broken down into two parts, before and after the wedding.
Miller is heading to Cancun to attend his sister’s wedding and luckily for him Claire is heading there for a vacation with her girlfriends to celebrate her birthday, because his plus one cancels on him and he does NOT want to show up dateless, well you know how moms are when you hit a certain age “When are you going to find a nice girl and get married?”, “oh I have the perfect girl for you” all of which Miller does not want to deal with.
Claire doesn’t like her bosses boss very much as a matter of fact she has a few choice names for him, anyway, when he asks her to be his plus one she immediately declines, but of course you know he is going to convince her. But what you don’t know and they don’t know is what happens next an OH BOY!!!! Things are hot and heavy between the two, that thin line between love and hate becomes thinner and thinner the more time they spend together, until……
Well, that is all you are getting out of me because I am not spoiling anything. This was a fun read that was very hot. Miller melted my heart in the second part of the book, Claire was a strong female character that knew what she wanted and she wasn’t going to let anyone push her around, I loved that about her.
If you enjoy contemporary romances, office romances, or the enemies to lovers trope I urge you to grab a copy of this book. Happy Reading!!!
Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa was a firework of emotions. It was heartbreaking and breathtaking. I swooned, I sighed, I cursed, I melted and I had this extraordinary experience. The range of emotions portrayed by the author in this unique and refreshing story is incredible.
This is not a simple haters-to-lovers romance. It has office romance, hate-to-love, second chance and everything wrapped with Claudia Burgoa’s phenomenal writing. She always touches my heart with her honest, flawless and intense writing. She did not hold back unleashing heartbreak, sweetness and angst in this story. Miller is such an enigmatic guy! He is rude, career oriented, dominating, controlling and only cares about himself. But Claire, the asset of his advertising agency team changes him fast when they go on a fake relationship display in his sister’s marriage. But soon some dramatic misunderstandings tear them apart. Now Claire has bitterness and anger in her sceptical heart while working her way up in the business world. And Miller is devastated, broken and sad while trying to be a man Claire deserved. Now their paths cross again and Miller is determined to win her back. Beg, borrow, steal- he will do anything!
I love Claire. Strong and independent heroines with sass, smart and heart of gold are one of the main feature of Claudia Burgoa’s books. And Something Like Hate is no exception. I am so proud of Claire. And so attracted to Miller for the way he acted second time. He was a serious idiot to let her go first time but his gestures won my heart. Their chemistry is spectacular and ridiculously hot. They understand and complete each other. The staggering pain and desperation when they were apart really touched my soul. The chemistry was sultry and sinful. The emotional connection is soul numbing deep and inspiring. Even the hate was incredibly beautiful. Slow burn reached a new height in this story.
Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa was a swoonworthy, sexy and brilliant story. The storyline was refreshing and engaged me instantly. The writing was perfection. And the emotions captured my heart completely.
Received ARC for Honest Review
I think this is my favorite book out of the last few. I needed a little less angst right now and this for perfectly. I raced through reading this story. I enjoyed the characters and how things unfolded.
I think that both Miller and Claire needed to communicate better and that one of them should have picked up a phone. People do stupid things and we tend to hide from things that could hurt us. These two go through that quite well in this story. We experience everything with them and hurt for them. Luckily fate likes to have a say in things.
I enjoyed this book and how that you do as well. If you are looking for a moderate angst read then this will be good for you.
I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion and review.
Something Like Hate by Claudia Y. Burgoa was such a heartfelt and emotional office romance with all kinds of feels that left me smiling. Miller is in need of help and when someone he knows is headed to the same place; he talks her into helping. Claire and Miller have a great time together, but once they leave their paradise, things begin to crash all around them, until the last straw that breaks them apart.
When faced with each other again, the sparks are still there, but so are old feelings of betrayal. Can Miller show Claire how he really feels before it is too late? I loved Miller. Just the right amount of alpha and caring. Claire was strong and feisty and I just loved her. I loved their journey, even as it was full of ups and down, they were so good together. A fun, light and emotional read.
4.5-stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
This was an amazing read! Claire and Miller are such great characters and I really enjoyed this book. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down and had to find out what was going to happen. You feel so many emotions while you read this book and their story is such a great one that I would highly recommend!
I first got introduced to Something Like Hate when reading the novella The Accidental Hookup in the Spring Fling collection, and I was happy to hear Miller and Claire’s story was going to be enhanced.
Miller is the big boss at Claire’s job, and they come together when Miller is searching for a date for his sister’s destination wedding and Claire happens to be on the same plane. What starts as pretend turns into something real between them.
And here’s where you start to worry…this book is only half over?!? What’s coming next!?!
And here is where one misunderstanding leads to a harsh and not-amicable breakup. Second chance romance, anyone?
What turns up the notch on Something Like Hate from good to great is Miller and Claire. Both characters showed so much growth in their time apart. Miller realizes how big of a mistake he made and spends his time trying to be a better man. Claire has defined boundaries and works hard to grow in both her career and her personal life. But both of them know something is missing in their lives.
How and when they reach their happily ever after…well, you’ll just have to read it yourself to find out. Be assured that it is fully worth the read to the end
My only wish was more groveling from Miller, but that’s from the second chance romance hater in me.
Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa, this was a story that takes you on one heck of a great journey. The story has laughs, rivaling and fake relationship with romance. The characters are Miller
who has decided to take a date to his sisters wedding to keep mom off his back but the date cancels now at the airport heading to Cancun when he spots one of his employees, just maybe he can save himself from his meddling mother and Claire is ready to head out for her week vacation with her girlfriends but when she runs into her boss things turn a bit interesting. These two are fun and exciting with some really great chemistry, there are a some twists and turns that will have you turning the pages quickly to see what is next for these great characters. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Miller needed a girlfriend for his sister wedding. Claire was on her way to a nice vacation with her friends when she runs into Miller at the airport. He asked to be his faked girlfriend . So off they go and a wonderful weekend they have . They find there more to each other than work . They get really tangled up in each other . Then he gone. Claire leave town to work and come back three year later. Miler is back trying to get close to her he realizes he should have never let her walk out of his live
Everything about Something Like Hate lived up to and surpassed what I needed from Claire and Miller’s story. Enemies to lovers, second chances and an alphahole with his eyes set on his sassy, independent heroine. Get your hot little hands on this story! Beautifully written. I fell head over heels for all of the characters. I hope to see Danielle get her story… and Thomas.
Something Like Hate is a MUST READ. Phenomenal 5 stars and I highly recommend!!!
Something Like Hate is sweet and funny and super sexy. I always love reading Claudia’s stories, which range from stories like this fun one to heartbreaking, angst-filled ones.
Claire Solis is finally taking a vacation from her demanding job and no one is going to stop her, not even her boss’ boss, Miller Archer, who happens to be at the airport getting ready to catch a flight to his sister’s destination wedding. His last minute “date” cancels on him and showing up without a date is unacceptable, lest his meddling mother sets him up with someone herself. When he spots Claire at the airport, he gets the very brilliant idea to ask her to attend the wedding with him as his girlfriend. Even though he’s never interacted with Claire personally, he knows how valuable she is to his company and doesn’t want to risk losing her but desperate times call for desperate measures. What could go wrong?
This story was a joy to read. The attraction between them came as a surprise to both Claire and Miller and even though they agreed to a casual, no-strings attached weekend, they develop strong feelings for each other. I just loved the characters and the interaction between them. Great read.
Claire and Miller what a pair!
Claire is fierce, independent, career minded and has a heart of gold.
Miller – the perfect alpha you can’t help but love. But sometimes you want to hate him. Both of them are not looking for anything serious but can’t deny their chemistry. Isn’t that the way it happens?
One mistake rips them apart and puts thousands of miles in between them. Can they overcome it?
You will swoon, be frustrated and swoon again. Get ready for Claire and Miller’s beautifully bumpy ride! They are gonna show you that fine line between love and hate.
Something like hate is a book with intrigue, drama and hot steamy scenes with characters that you don’t know whether you love or hate!
Its my first read from the author and I will definitely want to read more from her! Why I haven’t read her before is beyond me!
This book had me hooked from beginning to end and I loved everything about it!
I was about yelling at the story as I read ‘Come on guys’!!! The back and forth torture was rather funny and the friends had great banter! I laughed in certain parts too! This was such a great read! Claire and Miller are definitely a couple that will keep you on your toes!
Their families though?? Too funny the way they intrude in their children’s lives and the support is wonderful as well!
This was truly a beautiful story that makes you think, does love stand the test of time?? Is business more important than personal life? A must read to find out what happens!!!!
Another good story by this author. Loved these characters, even when some of their actions were a bit frustrating. Cute story overall, satisfying HEA.
