USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa spins a new romantic comedy. This hot office rivalry romance will have you swooning and laughing your panties off!Between a troublesome client and my fake-girlfriend-for-my-sister’s-Cancun-wedding canceling at the last minute.
I’m having the day from hell.
Then I spot Claire. Sexy. Smart. Sassy.
So one of my superstar employees is boarding the same … superstar employees is boarding the same plane.
With her help, I could kill two problems with one tequila shot.
That thing about never mixing business with pleasure?
I should’ve remembered.
Now the hottest one-night stand I’ve ever had is my biggest business rival.
We’re after the same client.
I’m after her heart.
The trick is how to win one without losing the other.
Because when love has you by the balls, it’s time to play dirty.
It’s an enemies-to-lovers romance with just the right amount of heart and humor.
Something Like Hate is a full-length novel based on Miller and Claire’s short story, “The Accidental Hookup,” which was previously released in Spring Fling: A Romance Anthology.

I really loved this story and the characters.
After Claire and Miller have a one-night stand, when they get back to work things are not so good.
I loved to see the character development and situation changing from one-time lovers to enemies-to-lovers romance.
Claire is smart and independent, and when she faces a situation with her boss, she soon plans her revenge.
Miller didn’t expect that his one-night stand become so interesting in his life.
But with all the differences, they will have to find a way to work together and understand each other.
I highly recommend the reading.
This book was such a fun read even though it took a sad turn for a while. Sometimes you want to scream why are men so blind and stupid. But in the end, they finally see the light and try to do the right thing.
Claire loves her family but she just didn’t want to spend her 30th birthday with them. She and her 2 girlfriends are going to Cancun to celebrate her birthday and she is actually taking a vacation from her job. Claire is very dedicated to her job because she likes what she does and she is very good at it. Now, she doens’t really care for her boss and her boss’s boss since she refers to them as Darth Vader and Emperor Papaletine. She is also trying to figure out what her next career move should be because she is goal oriented. As she is leaving for the airport, she is trying to deal with her mother on the phone and then her boss keeps calling her. She finds out that he needs the information on a marketing campaign she is working on and needs it NOW. She tells him she will send it but then she is on vacation.
As they are at the airport checking in, a very rude but hot man keeps cutting in front of them and acting like he owns the place. She makes a comment to him and while he is on the phone, Miller Archer realizes that Claire is the superstar employee they are trying to track down! But he also needs her help with a personal situation so he negotiates with her to help him out for additional all expense paid vacation for her and her friends at a later date. What started out has having Claire help him by pretending to his fiancee ends up making Miller realize that he is totally attracted to Claire and that she is a very sociable person, not like her quirkiness at the office. What started out a a fling ends up becoming more for both Claire and Miller.
However a crisis at Miller’s company takes him away from Claire and then all heck just broke loose between the 2 of them when Miller makes bad calls about Claire and her career. Claire is strong enough to stand up for herself (yay!) and walks away before more damage can be done and does what she needs to do to pursue her career path. It doesn’t take long for Miller to realize all the mistakes but by then, he doesn’t know how to fix it. Since his family loves Claire after meeting her in Cancun and thinks they are engaged, Miller does some crazy things to make his family happy and put him in denial.
When Claire and Miller meets again, Miller has changed his ways but Claire is still hurt and doesn’t believe he has changed. But when her career is in jeopardy again, this is the time for Miller to step up and show her that he is a changed man.
I love how Claire’s family is always there for her and supports her no matter what. This is how family should be. Poor Miller and all the lengths he goes through to make his family believe his relationship with Claire shows how much his family means to him too. Once Claire and Miller gets things figured out, it’s fun to see how the two families interact.
Hate and love – emotional ambivalence can be confusing
Very funny, heart-warming romantic comedy. It has all the feels of the perfect story. There are those prejudiced opinions formed between both main characters based on their work related relationship but also on the past experiences in relation to the opposite sex and relationships.
I had a lots of moments when I laughed out loud but there were also scenes that squeezed some serious amount of tears from my eyes. It wouldn’t be this author’s style if she wouldn’t give us some serious dose of angst and fidgety anticipation as to what is going to happen next. Loved the tension, the drama and even the fact that I wanted so badly to be the active participant in their story, to be in the middle of the events just to knock some sense into them. They frustrated me for thousand times but I wouldn’t like to have them any other way. This story is a perfect for some good movie script.
Perfect, mighty enjoyable read, real page-turner.
Such a great book absolutely loved it
This book was exactly what my soul and brain needed. While some of the story line was easily predictable I feel like the author did an amazing job developing these characters and really having my heart and brain cheering for them to make it. This book packed in all the punches with the humor (which had me laughing out loud), the feels, the family dynamics and of course there may have been some heat built in as well.
Truly this was a delightful read
Oh What a wonderful time I had reading the book. I had many emotions for Miller first it was love then hate and then back to love. I couldn’t stop reading I just had to know what was coming next for this couple. I first met them a collection of stories and have waited for more and I do say it was worth the wait.
When you find live do you let it go or hold on tight? It really is true what they say if you love someone let them go of they return then they were meant to be yours forever. Miller Claire had a love that they didn’t know what to do with at first. But did they ever learn how handle that love or did it disappear? Find in the page turner story that left me in tears at times.
One more time claudia did it! the story of Miller and Claire is fantastic. At the beginning I didn’t have faith in Miller, but he was a great character. He made me love him, even when he was being stubburn.
Claire was a strong woman with a smart mouth, she doesn’t gave up her dreams to be more just because she found a stone in her path. She was strong enaugh to know what is her worth.
I loved what Miller did at the end even when he wasn’t sure she would want to be with him again, that was love!
As a couple they were all fire, really sexy and hot scenes.
I loved Claire and Miller in “The Accidental Hookup” and was excited to get more of their story. This was so much better than I expected! Even if you’ve read the previous short story, read this one. The beginning is the same, but this version is so much more. Claire is a strong, kickass woman who knows her worth. Miller is great once he gets out of his own way. I love their interactions, too. And their families! The moms together was comedy gold.
This book has so much: Love, passion, lust, family, backstabbing, betrayal, forgiveness, persistence, and hope. Read this book!
A fling that leads to so much more!
So many feels. I think this is the 3rd or 4th time I have read this story. I adore Claire and after he realizes he needs to change to have Claire, I fell in love with Miller. I love how that little story became so much more!! I love this enemies to lovers story! So so so good! Passion, wit, love, family, Reggie, pushy mothers, adorable nieces and nephews, all the good things in life. And a man who wants his love to have the career of her dreans! received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Something like hate was more of a something to like! It was a very enjoyable story of second chance enemy to lovers.
Miller and Claire we a great couple. There was something in Claires snarky attitude that just made this a fun read. Miller was definitely the groveling hero he needed to be, but arrogant enough to make him a fun hero.
This story does span a few years, but it doesn’t bore you through those years. It gives the characters the time needed to make their story shine. I did start their story in Spring Fling and I’m glad the author expanded their story.
Claudia blended so many different tropes in this one and she NAILED IT!! This book had all the feels and lots of witty banter. Once I was able to really sit down and read it, I didn’t want to put it down. I just needed to know how Miller and Claire’s story ended. Miller was the ultimate alphahole, which I love and Claire is very sassy, sarcastic, and independent. I just fell in love with these characters from the very beginning. This will be one I re-read in the future.
Something Like Hate is a MUST read and deserves all 5 stars!!!!!
This book was everything!! I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I almost threw my kindle! It literally had my emotions all over the place!! It’s hands down my favorite book by this author!
This story had it all. I’m a sucker for office romance and enemies to lovers and I got both but so much more! I loved how strong Claire is and Miller is absolutely swoon-worthy. Their story makes you feel everything with them. The passion, the excellent funny banter, the chemistry, the angst… oh the angst! I definitely recommend!! You cannot go wrong this story.
Claire Solis is escaping her job and life to celebrate her birthday with friends in Cancun but imagine her surprise and horror when her bosses boss, Miller Archer pops up in the same airport as her as she’s trying to escape for a much needed vacation away from her many resonibilities.
Miller is stuck going to his sisters destination wedding in Cancun where his sweet but interfering mother is hoping to set him up with yet another single woman! She wants him to find a special someone in the worst way, he’s trying to put her off by saying he already has a girlfriend. Now he needs to find someone believable to take to the wedding. It takes some major convincing and promises out the wazoo but Claire reluctantly agrees to this date for the wedding farce! What could go wrong? Go along for the ride as Miller and Claire begin to see each other as more than boss and employee.
Things were heating up, if you know what I mean, until someone leaves their trust at the door and makes the biggest mistake of their life. The repercussions are like dominos and how do you come back from that?
Another great book from Claudia Burgoa- steamy, a bit angsty, office drama, misunderstandings and more to keep you glued to your Kindle until you see how it all ends. How it all plays out is something you’ll have to enjoy finding out on your own!
Can’t wait to see what she has for us next! I’m sure it’ll be another keeper!
An early copy was provided to me and this is my honest review of it.
When Miller finds himself suddenly single just as he is about to attend his sister’s destination wedding, he needs a Plan B and that comes in the form of Claire.
Claire not only wants the vacation she has planned but she needs. The stress at work is taking a toll on her and all she wants is some rest and relaxation and that doesn’t mean attending a wedding with Miller, her boss, but he manages to convince her it is a win-win.
As they spend time together the chemistry between them ignites until Miller shows her this is the worst mistake she could have made. After their fling she picks up the pieces of her life and it will be years before they see each other again. This time around she is his rival and determined to stay that way while he wants a second chance. Who will win this battle of the wills?
Claire is feisty and not about to back down from anyone or anything while Miller is determined to make up for their past and together they are magic.
I’m not sure where to start this review. This was a whirlwind of a romance and I couldn’t put it down! Claire and Miller just, they kept me on my toes while reading. I never saw exactly what was coming and I loved that about this book. But I couldn’t stop reading it. And just, wow!! I love Claire and Miller and just, this book was amazing!!
I loved this book there is plenty of sass, sexy time as well as laughs, heart break and lies as we see how Miller and Claire go from boss and employee to a fake relationship to get Miller out of an awkward situation at his sisters wedding and the fall out from there. The banter between the two is fantastic and I love their nick names they give each other with Hannibal and Clarice being my favorite!
I loved this book! Claire and Miller come across each other in an airport, while Miller is stranded dateless before his sisters wedding. When he sees Claire, he realizes it’s one of his employees, and decides to ask her to join him and be his date. She reluctantly says yes, and during that weekend, both realize how good the two can be together. But when Miller has a work crisis, and then doesn’t believe Claire’s side in the crisis, she leaves his company and moves away. Years go by, and she ends up back in Denver, and living and working right next door to Miller. One is fighting to destroy the other, and one is fighting to get the other back.
I could not put this book down, and I’d definitely recommend it!
This book has all the witty banter, build ups and play you could want with a great enemies to lovers book. The characters grow and build as much as the romance does keeping you interested and invested! Highly recommend!
Claudia Burgoa – you have freaking slayed me again!! These books never disappoint in having comedy, romance and steaminess. She continues to suck me in and make me knaess over these fantastic characters. Her characters Fd easy to fall in love with from the very beginning.
The way they interact and their chemistry will make your lady parts sizzle with how hot this story is. I swear, she is a truly amazing, inspiring author that everyone needs to read.
Miller and Claire have an agreement. Together, they will fool those around them. Their chemistry and story will make you all hot and bothered. It’s one of enemies to lovers that you will want to read again and again.
