Something in the Air can be read as a standalone and is book #2 in the Running on Air Series.Michaela Olsson has found her soulmate in James Khan. There are just a few teeny, tiny problems… grave. James already belongs to another, so she’ll lock her secret up so tight it’ll be deprived of oxygen, suffocate and die.
Too dark?
Matters are only made worse when James asks her to move into his newly purchased house to supervise the renovations. Working together every day is bad enough, but living in a house he owns is far more intimate than she expected. Then, when James decides to call off his wedding without any explanation whatsoever, Michaela wonders if perhaps her feelings for him aren’t as one-sided as she thought.
While he was engaged James shared a flat with his fiancée, but now he’s moving into the house that Michaela has been living in by herself. She hadn’t intended for it to happen, but the place has started to feel like home, and with the object of her affections suddenly sharing her living space, things become infinitely more complicated. And heated.
Soon Michaela learns she might’ve had more to do with James calling off his engagement than she could’ve possibly imagined.

The second book in this series Running on Air about a parkour group was as entertaining as the first. This is certainly a standalone but I found that I enjoyed seeing characters from the previous books. James is a member of the Parkour actors whose show is broadcast on tv. Michaela is a PA for the group and has always had a thing for James even though he is engaged. As with all bosses and underlings, the romance happens with curve balls par for the course. What I love about this book is the slow burn aspect to their relationship. The romance develops naturally and did not feel forced. A very sweet love story.
Another great book from LH Cosway that has you experiencing highs and lows and everything in between on the path to a well-deserved, well-written, utterly satisfying happily ever after.
Michaela is young and in love with a man very much off-limits. He’s her boss, he’s older, and he’s engaged. You really feel how torn up she is and how hard she is working to put her feelings aside, but how can you when you are literally surrounded by that person 24/7? She doesn’t obsess with him and think that she can lure him away, she doesn’t play the vixen out to steal someone else’s man. She’s just a woman that fell for someone off-limits and is doing what she can to get through every day and put romance with him out of her mind.
James is sweet and caring and endearing. He’s not a callous guy that is ignoring someone that is in love with him. He is genuine in his caring and compassion. His other relationship left him blinded to the issues there, and he couldn’t see that he could have a happier future with Michaela.
The Running on Air series is so beautifully written, and LH Cosway not only takes care of Michaela’s and James’s hearts, but her readers’ hearts as well.
I love James and Michaela! They are a perfect match! This book is everything. Unrequited love….until it’s not unrequited anymore. Employer/employee, friends to lovers and so much more! Michaela is so sweet and loyal. She has had feelings for James for months, but he is engaged to a horrible woman. James is also incredibly loyal and steady. Through a horrible loss James finally sees things clearly, but there is some uncertainty and a bitter ex these two will have to plow through. This book is so well written and the characters are the best. They are people you want to know in real life and root for every step of the way. I loved seeing them finally get together and it was great to see some other beloved characters. I love this series, but I think James and Michaela are my favorites! Can’t wait to see what’s next! I was given the opportunity to read an early copy of this book.
It was great and I was so happy to finally read about these two characters. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author.
For those of you who are familiar with the Running on Air series, Something in the air book #2 is pure reading bliss!
Michaela and James Love!
Falling in love with her boss wasn’t something that Michaela planned ,but when James is finally free to notice her the story takes off!
So much Love for these characters and their story!
Well done L.H.Cosway!
The sad news is we now have to wait for book 3!
Impatiently waiting for the next installment of this Wonderful series!
As always L.H. Cosway never disappoints. I love a brooding hero as much as the next reader, but I also love a hero who is a perfect balance of sexy nice guy. James is exactly that. His story is emotional, realistic and brilliantly handled by Cosway. She flips the switch on domestic abuse, which was extremely refreshing, and she deals with subjects like loss and grief with a sensitive understanding. Despite some of the heavy subject matter, Something in the Air held onto a lightness of heart that I really appreciated. This came through not just in the cast of characters we’ve come to love with this spin-off, but through the heroine. Michaela is equally likeable as James —a somewhat introvert that I could easily relate to. I picked this up expecting to read it over the course of the week, a few chapters a night before bed, and ended up devouring it in one sitting. It had laughter, it had tears, it had just the right amount of steaminess, and I couldn’t put it down! Another winner from this extremely talented author.
This is a beautiful story of pure romance and I could not put it down!
’Quite like jumping from a new and untested height, there were very many things that could go wrong. But when it went right, there wasn’t a feeling like it in the world.’
Michaela has had a crush on James since she first met him. But he’s engaged to another woman, so she fights to hide her attraction which is difficult when she finds herself helping him to restore his house. When the wedding is canceled and life takes a sharp turn for him, she’s quick to be there in any way she can…but are the feelings growing between them true or a result of his emotional turmoil?
I loved that this couple started out as friends and their relationship grew from there. Michaela was sweet and kind, just what James needed. She had a few insecurities that had left her living life in the shadows, but watching her step into the light that was James was wonderful.
James in turn was not a camera hog or a man who had been around the block a time or two. Instead, he was the strong, loyal type that stayed in the background. I loved having his point of view. I felt like I was really able to get to know him and thereby fall in love with him, just as Michaela did.
’With Michaela, my caveman instincts took over. All I wanted to do was claim. When she leaned close, nuzzling her nose into my neck, it was all I could do to keep from growling.’
There isn’t a lot of drama throughout this book but when it shows up things get pretty heavy hearted. I hurt for Michaela but my heart was breaking for James. This couple were just so perfect together and I needed them to get their happy ever after.
This was a great read with low to mid-angst. While the chemistry is very real between this hero and heroine, this is actually a slow burn. But holy heck! When this couple decide to cross the line, they set my kindle on fire! With the rest of the Running on Air characters there were great moments of humor. I love the banter these guys engage in. Overall, this was a wonderful book that promises even more wonderful things as this series continues.
I’m so happy that it’s James and Michaela’s turn! I’ve really liked these two for awhile and what a sweet story this is. One of the biggest things for me between them is how comfortable they are with each other. I could just sit at a table with them, my chin in my hand, and watch them talking back and forth with each other. So adorable those two. It was nice to see a saucy side to James. Hello you and your sexy self with Michaela. I loved how there really was no unnecessary drama, just a horrible ex and brother. It was nice reading about their relationship unfold and them finally being together.
4.25 STARS
I really enjoy Ms Cosway’s writing. I’ve read her co-authored (with Penny Reid) rugby series books. I loved them all. I’m trying to make my way through her solo authored books.
I couldn’t resist this latest release.
Michaela is very shy and quiet. She works as a PA on the reality TV show Running on Air. I don’t like show biz stories, but this author and the blurb got to me.
I loved the growing attraction between James (the star of the show) and Michaela. They start off as friends. James is engaged to Diana. She’s a terrible person, but tries to keep that side of her under wraps, and for when she’s alone with James.
Michaela has a crush on James. She’s very good at her job & James becomes more and more reliant on her assistance. By the way, there is no cheating.
This is definitely a character driven story. I was relieved to have more relationship and less about the TV show (not my thing).
I was also happy that Michaela is not a doormat. She could be shy and quiet, but also very strong.
I loved the ending and the way James and Michaela grew on their own and…. together.
I reco this book and this author. I’m sure that I’ll go back and read book one.
(I bought it).
This was a sweet and steamy story with two characters with beautiful souls.
“He had no idea of the light he emitted, attracting lonely, emotionally malnourished, forgotten creatures like me from the shadows.”
Michaela has had a massive crush on James since the first time she met him. There are a couple of reasons why she’ll never act on it. One, he’s one of her bosses and, two, he’s engaged to his long-term girlfrind. However, as time goes on, they form a firm friendship and spend a lot of time chatting about all sorts of things.
“Her arresting brown eyes were so open and sweet. Their effect on me was unexpected, like a gut punch.”
When James suffers a tragic loss, he also makes other life-changing decisions. Decisions that mean that the spark that has always been him and Michaela has a chance to burn into something much brighter.
“I never knew my heart wanted something from her. Something it never had.”
Michaela and James were so sweet together. Both were beautiful, gentle souls who had so much to give. I adored their enjoyment of each other’s company and the trust they built that was pretty unshakeable. In spite of everything he’s going through, I loved that James found solace and peace in Michaela’s presence. James was always the quiet, responsible one in their group but he was a sexy beast in the bedroom! Adored this story so much!

This was fun.
We have James and Michaela, she works as his assistant and he’s, well, her boss. It wouldn’t be a problem for her to fall for him, except that he’s engaged. 🙁
I really liked Michaela, she was fun and gentle and omg, so patient, lol. These guys were crazy, but she managed wonderfully. She liked to be more in the background, which I could totally understand, since I’m the same; but she was born to shine, people needed to see how great she was.
And one of those people was James. He was a cool guy, but he sure had THE WORST taste in women, lol. His fiancée was the devil, and I can’t imagine the horror he went through with her. But I was glad he saw the light and finally saw Michaela.
I really enjoyed reading about these two, how they relationship evolved from little to more. They were meant for each other.
Also, looking forward to reading more in this series.
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
There’s just something about Something in the Air that makes it feel…magical. This second full-length novel in L.H. Cosway’s Running on Air series follows thirty-one-year-old James Khan, a cast member of a television program that follows a group specializing in parkour made up of five traceurs and one traceuse, and twenty-two-year-old Michaela Olsson, one of two personal assistants who works for the group. Michaela may have a bit of a crush on James. Okay, okay, she’s desperately but secretly in love with the man, but things are complicated. Truly, madly, deeply complicated. You see, not only is James one of her bosses, but he also happens to be almost a decade older than her. Oh, and he’s also kinda-sorta-maybe-very much engaged. Michaela knows her unrequited feelings are rather hopeless, so focusing on her job as a PA and keeping things professional is her only recourse. Then James asks her to stay in the home he’s having remodeled. That shouldn’t be too bad since he’s currently living with his fiancée…until he calls off his wedding and moves into the home he owns–the same one Michaela is presently in.
This was such a fantastic read, one that takes the work place romance trope and sprinkles an extraordinary bit of something special that only someone like L.H. Cosway could pull off. I adored Michaela! She had her bouts of insecurity and shyness, but I loved seeing how she grew into her own, becoming someone who realized her worth and importance, not only to other people but also to herself. I found it so easy to empathize with her as well as to recognize chunks of myself in her. I liked that James always appreciated her and treated her with both respect and warmth. He considered her both his personal assistant and his friend, and he was simply an all-around good person. Do I wish he had realized what a terrible person his fiancée was sooner than he did? Yes, but then, the guy had a long happening professionally and personally, and sometimes, it takes a life-changing event to make you realize certain things. It was also great seeing the rest of the gang, and I’m eager to find out who we’re getting next and when their book will be out. For now, let us all embrace the awesomeness of Something in the Air. Five stars!
With soul-mates as characters that you can’t help but fall for, this story was reminiscent of my favorite Cosway books of the past.
I belonged to him, body and soul. And he had no idea.
We first met this couple in ‘Off The Air’, and the gentle way in which James took care of Michaela in the car scene had me pining for their story. I thank God that I wasn’t disappointed.
I even flirted with the idea of kissing her, just to see what she’d taste like. It was a moment of madness.
In ‘Something in the Air’, we go back to the beginning — when Michaela Olsson first set eyes on James Khan, before she’s hired as a PA to James and the Running on Air crew, and before she learns he’s engaged to be married — to the moment her heart swelled, and the butterflies took flight. That first meeting zipped with chemistry, and it set the stage for what was to come; an angsty, sizzling, intoxicating slow-burn romance that is full of heart and charm.
James’ eyes were on my mouth as I sucked on his thumb. What were we doing? It was the single most erotic moment of my life.
Something in the Air is another wonderful book by L.H. Cosway. I absolutely adore James and Michaela’s story. James, engaged to Diana for several years now tries his hardest to brush off his feelings for his PA Michaela. Not only is he her boss, but he’s also 9 years older. After tragedy strikes his family James decides that maybe Diana isn’t what he wants or needs. Michaela’s been hiding her crush on James since the day they met, preferring to be in the background and pretending to be invisible. When she moves into his house to oversee renovations, she didn’t expect him moving in too. Now he’s always there and her feelings are getting harder to hide. There are several things I love about this book, first is the angst. L.H. Cosway perfectly captured the feelings that go with having a crush on someone who’s unavailable especially when you have to see them every day. While it’s a darker aspect of the book, the fact that James was the one in the abusive relationship was a great plot point. I think is an important issue to talk about abuse occurring in all different forms, no matter who’s doing it, or how it’s happening, it’s wrong. I loved that James was so patient and slow to anger while still effectively getting his point across, but not in a demanding “alpha” way. I would like to have seen a little more karmic retribution for Bennett, but ultimately am happy with the way Michaela’s parents handled the entire situation, I’ll have to imagine something terrible happens to him. Overall, this is a fantastic book, definitely recommend. A huge THANK YOU to L.H. Cosway for providing an ARC.
I am loving this series and all the characters. From page one this book has pulled me in. This was a sweet romance. I was so excited to get James and Michaela story.
Michaela is PA for the group filming the reality show. There is an instant attraction for Michaela when she sees James. She knows he’s off limits and just needs to do her job and ignore her feelings. That’s easier said than done.
I kept hoping things would work out with these two. James wasn’t quite ready for a relationship when him and Michaela jumped into relationship. Will Michaela end up with the man she is in love with or broken hearted?
I love this book and the pace was spot on.
5 stars!
“Is it just me or is there something in the air tonight?”
Something in the Air is a heartwarming read that delivers all the feels. With fantastic characters, an entertaining storyline, and a love story to believe in, this book easily gets a spot on my favorites list.
From the moment Michaela met James, she’s crushed on him hard; however, since he’s engaged, she hides her feelings and focuses on her job as one of the assistants who cater to the team of free runners on the television show, Running on Air. James happens to be one of her bosses but that doesn’t stop them from becoming great friends and forming a strong connection that neither can deny.
When Michaela runs into a housing situation and the solution is to move into James’ new house and manage the renovations, she has even more difficulty dealing with her unrequited feelings. Then when James is suddenly single, resisting the pull between them is impossible, and we get a wonderful love story that will fill your heart completely.
“James and I had formed a bond over the last few months, and even though it was wrong, there was an innocence to it. It was sad, because the kind of connection we shared couldn’t be put into words. It was simply something I felt deep inside me.”
It’s easy to fall in love with James and Michaela. James is such a great guy. Sweet and gentle while still being strong and loyal, he has a pure heart and I fell for him fast. Michaela is such a good person too. She is kind, honest, and a breath of fresh air. She is selfless and puts her friends first. I couldn’t help but love her to pieces.
Even when James was engaged, there was a spark between him and Michaela. They have a connection that is real and they get to know each other better than anyone else just by listening to one another. When tragedy strikes it is heartbreaking, and James’s reaction is honest and real. Michaela is there when he needs her most and remained a true friend.
“Why did I always feel so much better when I was around her? It was like whatever she was made of sucked out all the sadness inside me and replaced it with hope.”
Both Michaela and James are genuine and relatable. Their own vulnerabilities and insecurities make them complex characters and they go through so much growth both individually and then as a couple. They share wonderful slow burn romance and I believed the progression from friends to lovers.
“Sometimes you can’t stop these things…When you develop feelings for someone, it’s a slow slide that turns into an avalanche. Before you know, it you’re buried in snow.”
Even before they were together I felt the sexual tension sizzling around them, so once they were both available, that tension skyrocketed until they couldn’t hold back any longer. It’s romantic and sweet, and I love that they take their time.
Even when things get tough, James and Michaela are functional and wonderful together. The lack of drama for the sake of drama is refreshing and I love that there is no questioning their feelings. They may hit a few bumps in the road but they are resolved quickly, and I love the way things turn out.
It was so good seeing the rest of the Running on Air gang again because I love them all! Their friendships are real and they have each other’s backs. I can’t wait for more and to catch up with them in the future when the next book in the series comes out!
Overall, Something in the Air is an emotional friends-to-lovers romance and a wonderful addition to the Running on Air series. I loved everything about Michaela and James, and they have easily found a place in my heart. This books is definitely a new favorite!!
I loved the slow burn romance between James and Michaela. I’ve been looking forward to their story since the night their night in Johannesburg in Running on Air (Book one) and L.H. Cosway did not disappoint! L.H. Cosway has become one of my favorite “must read” authors. Her characters are people I want to hang out with in real life and I love her slow burn romances.
Thanks to the author for the copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I really love L.H. Cosway: her books give me all the feels and I really care about the characters. This tale of unrequited love (at first) / friends to lovers is fantastic. Michaela and James really have to work for it but it is definitely worth all of it. I’m so glad we got the ending we did.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and loved every moment.
Loved James and Michaela! A great addition to the series. I loved seeing our favorite characters, and watching this new romance unfold. I loved the slow burn and the anticipation. Can’t wait for more from this series!
Seriously… the more i read LH COSWAY’s books the more i admire her!
She never choses the easiest solutions.
She challenges herself, creating amazing stories with different and sensitive topics, always offering us diversity in social origins, ethnic backgrounds, jobs…
With her everything is colorful, sweet, romantic, vibrant, vivid… She’s a true artist.
JAMES’ family is jamaican, he’s a pro of parkour, a role model for his siblings and friends, reliable, serious. He seems so strong but no one knows what’s his real life, what’s hidden behind his smiles.
The author approaches two serious and difficult topics for him, one of the two is not addressed enough in medias and in books. She describes everything with brio, making us hurt for our hero but she never overshares or insist too much. It feels natural, and oh so true.
Poor James, he is not spared.
MICHAELA is here for him, she’s a real help and support in the worst moments of his life. She’s so sweet and adorable. Always there for the others, a shadow following them and taking care of everything for everyone. She wants to be invisible but the light she unconsciously emits attracts James like a moth to a flame.
She has been bullied her whole life but she remained strong and generous and selfless.
Her past is not common either.
I love the way LH Cosway gives depth to her characters, it feels like we discover details of their life in every chapter.
I was a bit scared about the love triangle and the age gap. I don’t like love triangle… But of course the author did a great job. There’s no cheating (thank god!), we don’t have endless monologues such as “Which one do i have to chose? Which one do i love more?…” It all feels natural, never unhealthy or immoral. AND i’ve never felt the age gap.
LH Cosway is a queen!!!
Something in the Air is a new masterpiece of a talented author. You will love James and Michaela and their story, you will admire the writing and the genius of the author, your heart will be full… A 5 stars!!!
