Death isn’t always the end… sometimes it’s only the beginning.
Claire’s trapped in a dead-end marriage, strapped for cash and getting desperate. Her chance at freedom comes in the form of a music con in Florida. Her mission? Win over a few big clients and collect a fat bonus check. It should have been easy, but Claire didn’t count on a bewitched violin, its sultry Italian owner, Bette, or her … sultry Italian owner, Bette, or her dark and dangerous companions.
Unfortunately, life isn’t all song lyrics and seduction. Tied to darkness by blood and power, Claire must harness her abilities if she has any hope of surviving this business trip from hell.

Not my typical type of vampire book but definitely an awesome read. Great character development and interesting plot, can’t wait to get my hands on her next book…highly recommended.
FANGIRLING HARD!
I am so in love with this series! Alex Owens has a way with words literally! We All can definitely relate to Claire. I don’t give SPOILER’S. I highly recommend this entire series. This vampire series is fangtastic!
This is not like the other vampire plots. I love it I wouldn’t stop reading it. This is one any vampire lover has to read
I loved this book. Especially Claire,a working mother with a failing marriage trying to stay afloat. Enter in a little magic,a few vampires and Claire becomes a kickass heroine! Very intriguing characters and storyline that had me finishing this book in two evenings. My congratulations to Alex Owens, your book is awesome!
I fell in love with this book! It’s a different take on vampires but in a good way. You’ll be as fascinated by all of the characters as I was. I have a brand new author to stalk and a whole book set in going to have to get to see what happens next.
Great book. Claire is a working mother, dealing with life. In a marriage that was falling apart. She goes to a Music con for work to win over some new clients and get a big bonus check. At this event she meets Bette, Gregor, and Clive and her life is turned upside down. Join Claire as she tries to survive her business trip from hell. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I recommend you give this book a try, I am glad I did.
Reading about Claire and her changes in life, gave me a new look at vampires. Claire is at a convention for work, and comes across a stunning woman who catches her eye. Claire remembers going to Bette’s room and waking up the next morning feeling different. It is not until later that she learns she was turned into a vampire. Will this change her life as a mother?
Great book. Definitely a different type of vampire book. Kept you wanting more and with a twist. Already bought the second one and can’t wait to read it.
Wow I really loved Claire and the beginning of her journey she is awesome to the core. This soon to be single moms life is about to go toe up and will take you on a ride. When Claire crosses paths with a sexy Italian woman named Bette, at a music con in Florida, and a special enchanted Violin that calls to her Claire’s life changes big time. This is a new adult paranormal romance/urban fantasy that you can sink your teeth into
If you like vampire books then look no further. This book is fantastic. Clara is no ordinary vampire and this is no ordinary vampire book. It’s fantastic. Well written with an engaging plot and intriguing characters. It’s going to be Interesting to see what happens to Clara next.
As a mother myself, I felt a connection with the main character. Her love for her child and the sorrow she felt for her daughter, as she knew her crumbling marriage would soon be over. As a parent, it would be one of my biggest fears to explain to my own children that their parents would be separating and explaining the process. Her pain and heartbreak and rage are all tangible. Her husband let her down and treated her as if she was his own mother. In hindsight, she was raising two children!
As a woman, I think any time an author can put emotions that resonate with other women is an amazing attribute. It was heart wrenching to read parts of this book. Maybe because it brought up my own personal feelings and memories of when my husband of 12 years and I separated seven years ago. This book is a great piece and I know I won’t be the only person who is affected by the emotions that main character faces with her own personal relationships. At times in the book, it was hard to remember that this is a work of fiction, that is, until someone started vamping out. I finished this book in one night and it was great. All of the characters have such amazing, intriguing and witty personalities and the story flowed very well. I do not think the author could’ve written a better book with such detail that I recently dived into. I highly recommend!
So good! I loved the main character; sassy & funny. I was kept on my toes wondering how she would handle the new situation she found herself in. After that ending I can’t wait to read the next book!
If you are looking for a new adult paranormal romance/urban fantasy novel that has just the right amount of steaminess, action, magic, vampires and story building involved then I highly encourage you read this novel. Fans of the Riley Jenson guardian novels, and the Anita Blake series will likely gobble this book up in one sitting. I know I gobbled this book down until nothing was left except to wait for the next book.
This book does contain mature sexual content that is not completely over the top, but involves some F/F as well as M/F situations that is not be intended for young readers. This book was also previously published as another title as well; known for the name of Kill Me (Blood Chord #1).
This is my first time getting to read this series and I am baffled by just how utterly happy with the book that I am. I felt such a deep connection to Claire because I felt like I had so much in common with her. It’s not everyday you pick up a book and find that you could easily be the main characters best friend just because you have so much in common and seem to have a lot of the same daily thoughts. I connected with this book on a massive level because it felt so real. Every part of the book had a purpose in my mind. This book didn’t feel rushed, but it didn’t feel like it was dragging either which made me become involved in the book. One minute I started reading the book at Noon and the next time I look up and realize it is already four in the evening. Crazy how time flies when you’re enjoying a good book.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book and voluntarily chose to leave a review. I was under not obligation to leave a review.
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also, this author is new to me.
Holy shiznet, this story is gr8. At first I worried for Claire, here she was a strong, yet timid in a way, working mother/homemaker dealing with normal life stuff. A marriage that was going downhill because hubby is a deadbeat, bringing home the “bacon & cooking it up”, & caring for an 8 yr old girl. Then she goes to a conference for work & meets a hot, sexy woman, Bette. Then add in sexy, dangerous Gregor, & dark, psycho Clive and her life goes wacko. I look forward to the next story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
I enjoyed this book it is the first book in the series Shadow Vampire. The story line was good as well as the characters. I look forward to reading more from this author.
This book sucks you right in and keeps you hooked till the last page! An amazing start to the series!
