Emily Giffin is a master of taking flawed characters and making the reader root for them – and of showing the messy, complicated side of real life. She knocks it out of the park In this her first novel.
Rachel is a rule-following, hard-working Manhattan lawyer who has always been content in letting her gregarious and beautiful best friend Darcy …
The theme is not new and the ending was predictable, however, the author manages to keep one engaged in the story. Well done! I enjoyed reading this book.
Love Emily Giffin! Even though you know you shouldn’t, you end up rooting for the girl who is having an affair with her best friend’s fiancée.
Didn’t like Rachel, didn’t like Darcy, didn’t like Dex. Worthless characters the lot of them. Cheating is unacceptable no matter how you try to spin it and justify it. Really hard to push through a book in which you don’t like, respect, or relate to any of the characters. Disappionted.
Giffin creates a different kind of romance – a little Cinderella-ish, but you find yourself rooting for Rachel.
OK, I normally HATE chick-lit books, and that was what I was expecting when I picked this up, but actually, I loved it! I read all the reviews before starting this and seeing as how everyone raved about it, I gave it a shot. So glad I did.
Rachel and Darcy have been best friends since their childhood in Indiana. Now they are both living in NYC …
Love her books!
Cute. Light. Beach read.
Really enjoyed this book. Highly recommend. So entertaining.
This is a cute funny story. What does one do when your plain Jane best friend is sleeping with your drop dead gorgeous fiancé? First of all, your best friend is no where as good looking as you so how could your fiancé have an affair with her? Your whole life has been perfect up to this point. The anticipation builds up to what is going to happen. …
How do you choose between your best friend and the man you love who’s about to marry her? That’s the dilemma. Rachel introduced them because she thought a guy like Dex would never be interested in her and beautiful Darcy was more his type. Dex thought Rachel wasn’t interested in him and now things are complicated. Is it too late? This book has …
I’m not sure what to say about this book. While the writing style was done well and the characters were well developed, the subject was not pleasing to me. Darcy was an irritating, self-centered person. I just basically loathed her and everything about her. And while Rachel was a better person, the fact that she continued to have an affair …
I can not get enough sleep of Emily Griffin books! I laugh out loud and can not put them down once I start reading! I always am waiting for her next gen!
Really enjoyed the characters. Kind of predictable but a good summertime book to have on hand!
Loved it!
