Brigid Anderson is a second year lawyer on a fast track to making partner. With the weight of her siblings’ success on her shoulders, Brigid feels like she needs to prove something–to herself and to her parents. Her life is running smoothly and all according to plan…until she meets Grady. After a blind date with Brigid that ends in explosive passion, they embark on a friends with benefits relationship. But as Grady establishes himself in the business world, he decides he wants more and wants it with Brigid.
On the eve of her best friend’s wedding, with her promotion to partner dangling within reach, Brigid believes Grady isn’t the best partner to suit her career ambition. But Grady and her heart don’t agree and she must decide if she should stick to the safety of the plan or find the courage to pursue what she really wants.

Beautiful
This was a wonderful story of how parents out pressure on their children to be perfect. Brigid was always told she had to be the ultimate best. Grady was the best thing for her, but she had a lot of doubts. A friends wedding will make a difference.
Like so many workaholics, Brigid has trouble making time for fun. During a week long working vacation she is faced with the dilemma of choosing personal happiness or career. She realizes it is time to stop living her like to please others. I thoroughly enjoyed the story line which was totally believable.
Great story. Very touching
Great for the romantic.
A standalone read with a HEA. Good story. She is a lawyer clawing her way to the top of a legal firm that promotes the “good ole boy” even though he isn’t worth a dime. Her “friend with benefits” is a local contractor that is in love with her. She feels his “profession” holds her back so she doesn’t want forever with him. I really liked this guy the heroine not so much. She wasn’t nearly good enough for him! It is a good story with some growth on the characters. I definitely recommend it.
It keeps you on your toes. You never know how it will turn out!
I enjoyed this book
Southern humor, interesting characters.
I totally enjoyed it .
I didn’t finish this book. Frankly the h was so annoying I couldn’t. I have a sibling who is a workaholic, interrupting family gatherings to take work calls, missing family events for work. It’s annoying to live it. It was equally annoying to read it. I just couldn’t stomach the snobby attitude and looking down on the H because he was a contractor and “not husband material.” Such BS. Maybe that does still exit in white shoe law firms but not in any that I deal with. H was far too good for the h.
A good read
I could not get into reading this book. Not a page turner for me, disappointed.
Sweet and funny. Great read to unwind with!
Not enough original style
Something Borrowed by Megan Ryder is the story of the relationship between lawyer Brigid & subcontractor Grady. Grady’s parents were divorced when he was younger. His mother wanted a better life than a blue collared, worry about money one. She found someone that could give her that life, packed up her older son Matthew & left. Grady has felt an intense anger towards her ever since. Now he’s in love with Brigid & his baggage is telling him he’s in another relationship where he isn’t good enough .
Brigid is from a very demanding family. Her father was a lawyer that worked long hours & placed value on hard work & putting the job before anything. Her older brother raced through medical school & cant do anything wrong. Her younger sister is beautiful & is in great demand as an interior decorator. She’s also married & has two perfect children. Brigid always felt like the “normal” one in the family instead of being gifted like they are. Her father had great expectations of her & that includes not letting her private life interfere with her business life. How dare Grady tell her to change!
Megan Ryder has given us a group of friends with such diversity that everyone will identify with at least one character. They are reconnecting after a 5 year absence & the interactions are perfectly balanced with emotions. The arguments between Grady & Brigid are so intense& sexually charged it feels like you are right in the room. I loved the fact that Ms. Ryder took the unexpected position of having Brigid be the one totally absorbed in her career to the exclusion of everything else. Grady was very compelling as the sexy man trying to get her attention. This is a great addition to the series & I can’t wait for Book 3!
Something Borrowed (Lone Star Match Book 2) by Megan Ryder
This is lawyer, Brigid Anderson and contractor, Grady Coughlin’s story.
Brigid’s main goal is to do anything in order to make partner. Grady’s father became ill so he took over his father’s contracting business. Grady and Brigid were attracted to each other but neither have time for a relationship. Their friends with benefits agreement has worked for them until now. Grady is tired of this type of relationship and wants more but does Brigid?
This is a sweet and steamy romance but it’s not an easy road getting there. I really liked Grady’s character. Brigid’s character was a little frustrating. In her defense she wants approval from her family at all cost. Will Brigid finally see what will really make her happy and take a chance on true love?
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
When someone is happy and in love, they tend to think that everyone around them should experience the same wonderful feeling. That’s why Brigid’s best friend Caroline is determine to play matchmaker with her wedding party. Brigid and Grady are next on Cupid’s list.
Brigid is an attorney determined to make partner in order to meet the goals that her father has set out for her. Stuck between two successful siblings, Brigid thinks that as long as she doesn’t deviate from her plan, her goals will be met and she will finally be able to make her family proud. Grady is the groom’s brother and has been in a friends with benefits arrangement with Brigid for the past two years. But Grady is ready to take the next step and isn’t willing to be a bedwarmer if Brigid isn’t all in with him. Now they have to spend a week together after ending their arrangement. Grady hopes that this week will show Brigid how amazing they could be together but can Brigid deviate from her plans in order to be with someone who can’t further her career?
I loved how perfect Brigid and Grady are for each other. Both have a ton of family issues and while they have dealt with them very differently, it drove home for me how each was the other’s home. This book was really light on the drama but there was an abundance of love throughout the story. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the wedding party!!
