Wow, I read a copy of this book for the opportunity to provide an honest review. What a beautiful, amazing love story about two dedicated professionals with hearts of gold and fears out the whazoo!! Great characters and a wonderful storyline filled with action, romance, and roller-coaster emotions. This is my first book by Roisin Black, but most definitely not my last!! Can’t wait to look up her other books, and hopefully find a second book in this series about true-blue Navy SEALS and the fascinating lives they live!!! So much angst and chemistry!!!
This is a great emotional book. A bossy gorgeous Navy Seal determined to never marry meets a red haired feisty Dr on a backroad in the Adirondacks and the two are never the same. Both are in the mountains to get their heads straight after bad experiences on their jobs. All they want is peace and quiet but a disabled car forces them into a one room cabin. There is instant attraction and connection but they each have their lives a problems. I ugly cried throughout this book so be warned…get tissues and eye drops.
John Sullivan and Maggie O’Brien two people not looking to be bothered with. I loved how they both needed a place to escape from even though they were both going through tough times. It’s always the struggles in their stories that pull me in and makes me want to know more and this book was so good that it was hard for me to stop and not get to the end as fast as I could.
I started reading this book and haven’t quite finished it. However from what I have read I love it! I really liked how John and Maggie’s characters were both dealing with their own demons that seemed to bring them closer together. I can’t wait to finish the rest and continue on with the series!
I have had this book on my kindle for quite some time. It got lost in the shuffle, as some books do, and when I found it again, I dove in. Maggie and John are kind of real, kind of frustrating, and a whole lot hot chemistry wise. They are both healing from past traumas and are thrown together by circumstance.
There is a lot of emotion and sometimes I wanted to throw my kindle at them, but the book had enough powerful emotion to keep me engaged. All in all a good read.
I enjoyed John and Maggie’s story. An alpha seal who is hellbent on suffering alone and the trauma surgeon who just needs a break from reality for a while. A great book for a rainy weekend curled up under a blanket!!
I haven’t read this author before but I can say I enjoyed the book. It did have its moments where there were things that were a little dragging or off, such as phrases that aren’t commonly used in America, which I think distracted from the story.
Maggie and John are both in high intensity careers that leave them both with little time and a lot of stress. It is after one such stressful stretch at their jobs that sends them for some private R&R and they end up meeting each other. There is instant attraction and chemistry but John fights it and Maggie isn’t sure she’s ready for it either. From there things kind of plateau and then pick up again with another clash of situations that bring them back into each other. I don’t want to give it away but over all its a pretty good read. I thought it was going to be a normal military read and while it did have Navy Seals in it that wasn’t the case. It was more about feelings and issues of both sides than your normal read.
I wouldn’t rush out and buy this book immediately but was pleasantly surprised and able to finish it.
This was an excellent read. I loved the chemistry between John and Maggie. It totally consumed me. My heart broke for Maggie when John decided he knew what was good for her and broke her heart. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I’m totally hooked, ended up not going to bed just so I could finish this book. It’s hot and steamy with brilliant strong characters. John is a Navy SEAL, who has just returned from a mission which left some of his “brothers” seriously injured, he needs time to get his head back together. Maggie is a busy ER doctor who has just had an abused child die in her arms, she needs time to work out if she wants to stay in the ER or move on. John and Maggie both go to Adirondack wilderness, John to his cabin, Maggie was heading for a cabin another doctor owned, but when her car breaks down, she is left stranded until John comes to the rescue. From the moment they meet, you can feel the raging fire between them, but neither John nor Maggie feel they are in the right place to start a relationship. John has seen the heartache that Navy seals leaving their loved ones behind causes when they are deployed, never knowing if they will come back badly injured or worse dead and doesn’t want to put any women through that pain. Maggie on the other hand has no time to do her housework and laundry let alone have a man in her life. The main thread of the book although somewhat predicable has plenty of twists and turns to keep you fully engaged. I loved it and can’t wait to read book two in this series.
This is my first read by Roisin Black and boy will I continue my journey into her books! John and Maggie’s story was so passionate, steamy, angsty and dang what an ending. I definitely recommend this book!
John and Maggie’s story isn’t your typical Romance Maggie’s car breaks down in the middle of nowhere while she’s trying to get to a friend’s cabin up in the mountains and John comes out of nowhere and Saves the Day and he’s a seal and she’s a doctor running from a messed up situation he just got back from deployment and two of his friends got hurt so he’s just trying to clear his mind before his next deployment John and Maggie decide that they want to try you just have to find since they’re stuck in the situation together they’re both upfront about not wanting to be in a relationship but they eventually start falling for each other they try to give it a go but something happens and John’s like oh God no I can’t I cannot let live this life life.
He gets deployed and has to go on a rescue mission. He realize he was an idiot for breaking things off with Maggie before his deployment.
This is a really great story I’ve got to stop over cuz I’m going to end up spoiling the whole thing I highly highly recommend this book to anyone who loves military romances with a little bit of mystery and suspense
This story over all had a great plot and characters. Sometimes it took me a second or two to figure out whose perspective I was reading. The more the story progressed, the more I was drawn I’m also. Didn’t see some of the twists coming
This was a heartwarming story. It’s about two people who find each other even when they don’t want to. I loved the ending. This was the first book of Roisin Black that I’ve read, and I enjoyed it.
This book had me from the Begining from the blurb! Such a emotional roller coaster but looking forward to the next book!
Love it the book of something no one whats kind of story. He inst looking for any distractions try to get away so this doesn’t happen. But of course life really inst going to be that easy…this is the joy of the book. You have to laugh and the author really does have a sense of humor and makes you say hey does he really think hes getting out of this. Good luck….
A devastatingly romantic and well-written book, and I look forward to reading more from this creative and talented author in the future!
Hot, sexy, caring Navy Seal meets strong, independent trauma surgeon and the results are intense.
“I’m not sorry you kissed me like that, not one little bit but if you do it again you better make sure your lips aren’t writing checks other parts of you can’t cash.”
John has seen the how his way of life as a SEAL can affect a relationship and he has always avoided attachments. Maggie is reeling from the constant emotional stress of the trauma unit and looking for some quiet alone time to refresh, when fate brings them together.
“Maggie,” he breathed, “I want you like I’ve never wanted a woman in my whole damn life and that terrifies the living shit out of me. I’m used to control in all things and I’m damned if I can control myself around you.”
I loved Maggie. She was such a strong female character to admire. Wonderful and interesting secondary characters that I can’t wait to read their stories also. Roisin Black is an author that I look forward to reading much more from.
“You deserve to have someone to come back to John. I’d like if that someone could be me.”
This was my first book from this author and it will not be the last!! Maggie and John are two lost souls just trying to figure out life when they meet. This book will bring out all kinds of emotions. You also get intrigue, twists, turns and surprises that you won’t see coming. This book is a must read!!
I this book from the start. I am not a fussy reader and I like most of the books I read however this book definitely took first place in all the books I have read thus far for this month. You can feel how hard they both tried to resist each other but when their hearts got involved there was no turning back. I loved John and Maggie’s story, it’s very relatable and a must read.
This book had a slow start, but I stuck with it to learn Maggie and John’s story. They’re both solitary individuals, reluctant to make the changes necessary to let someone into their hearts. John lets his “better off alone” fears get the better of him more than Maggie does, which makes for some frustrating and angsty reading, but this also makes them both seem a little more realistic to me.
Tragic events make John doubt everything, which makes him turn tail and run at a very inopportune time, but he and Maggie are reunited in an unlikely place. I was a little disappointed with how easily Maggie folds for John, but loves makes us all eager to forgive at some point.
Overall, this book was decently written and would’ve been a 4 read for me if the beginning had grabbed my interest a little quicker.
