Dorian Anson is my friend. She’s the only person who’s ever questioned my smiles. My jokes. The one liners that have our friends shaking their heads at me. I’ve lived my life on those smiles. Thy never failed me, until her.I wasn’t counting on her when I designed my front. I never imagined the possibility of someone like her coming into my life. She was the girl with the beautiful soul, pretty … beautiful soul, pretty face and whole heart. But hearts aren’t made to stay whole.
I watched hers break. I watched her tears fall. I watched as her world tilted on its axis and shattered at her feet.
This girl.
She sees me, all parts of me—the truths I try to hide, the secrets I bury. What’s mine and what’s not.
She sees it all, and I can only hope that the truth isn’t too much. That she won’t walk away.
That she won’t leave me…alone.
We both have a past. We have ghosts. We have fears.
I’m hoping that somehow in the end, we’ll have each other too.
I’ve never needed anyone before her, and I know I’ll never want anyone else after her.
There is no one like her.
My pretty girl.
Dorian.

After devouring For You I was desperate for Jake and Dorian’s full story and oh boy did it knock me off my feet.
Alexandra has a unique writing style that draws you in and has you there feeling right alongside the characters. If they laugh you laugh, they cry you cry and this story certainly packed all the feels. Amazing!
I’m super excited to see what’s next.
5 stars (because I cannot find that 10 star button anywhere)
I have been waiting for Jake it feels like for decades. And I have no earthly idea of how this happens but Alexandra, you like to write about my different personalities and about things happening in my own life. I feel like I go through an existential crisis every time I read you. I’m not complaining, I’m
Just asking where you put the damn camera in my life? Haha. Dorian has one priority and that’s her son, there’s no need for romance because in her mind she doesn’t deserve it. Jake has always been the playboy and the best friend, while others rely on him to be the rock, inside he struggles like everyone else: a sister battling addiction, a pretty brutal family history and the fact that the love of his life (not that he even accepted for half of the book) thinks she’s not good enough and still grieving her dead husband. The way in which they connect is so beautiful and when things move from physical to emotional, they have a lifetime opportunity to be each other’s hearts. Jake finally understands why when he sees her, he sees his hearts equal when every other heart had seemed inferior. I loved this book, can we get like holiday editions each year? Can’t wait for more from Alexandra, if you haven’t read her guys what is wrong with you!

Someone Like You by Alexandra Silva is a slow burn, friends to lovers, contemporary romance told in dual POV. It’s the third book in the Imperfect Hearts series, and although it may be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading books 1 and 2 first as they lay a wonderful foundation for Dorian and Jake’s story.
Dorian Anson is a strong, independent single mother whose love for her son, Daniel, is first and foremost in her life. She has endured the pain of tragic loss, but with the help and support of her friends and family, she has managed to come through it all with a positive outlook.
Jake Roth is a close friend of Dorian’s brother, Jamie. He has also become a close friend to Dorian over the years – her very best friend actually. Jake is a handsome playboy. He’s always smiling and joking, but Dorian notices the frown lines that don’t match his smiles and she wonders what caused them.
Having developed a solid friendship over the years, Dorian and Jake struggle with fear and insecurity as they deal with their undeniable attraction and growing feelings for each other. Neither can stand the idea of ruining the friendship and losing the other as part of their life. Can Jake open up and trust Dorian with his secrets? Can Dorian allow herself to love again?
I loved Dorian and Jake’s story. It was an honest and genuine portrayal of the journey taken when a relationship transitions from friends to lovers. Their bond felt very real, and I enjoyed the way they cared for each other. I loved this sweet, sexy, heartwarming story. Looking forward to reading more in this series. I hope Willow’s story is next.

Alexandra’s writing never fails to convey romance that’s so captivating and unique that I feel like her characters are real. In Someone Like You we have a connection of souls that finally connect on a level of everlasting love. Jake and Dorian story starts with an authentic friendship. The care they have for each other develops over time and we journey with them when they start to fall in love with each other. Their are issues that they both need to resolve. The friendship that grounds them helps them both with their brokenness, their trust and their worthiness of each other’s love. We also meet new characters and old ones from previous books to add to all the relationships regarding Jake and Dorian. I especially love when this happens it adds so much to this series. I really look forward to the next book in this series.
#Dorke . Jake is the swooniest (yep! I’ve decided that’s a word). Dorian is so strong to have gone through everything she has. This story was epic beyond words! Their friends to lovers storyline is the sweetest. And Jake has a way with words! They had the greatest of friendships and turned it into an awesome love that had me sighing constantly! Alexandra killed it with these 2. Every book she writes gets better and better! I’m not sure how she’s going to outdo herself but I am looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next! These characters are people that I would totally want to be friends with…I want to be in their group! And they stick with me… I can’t get enough of them. Definitely a must read!!!
There’s nothing better than when a story and its characters gives me tingles and goosebumps all over. Jake and Dorian aka Dorke did that to me. Delicious and swoon worthy tingles. From head to toe. Ever since reading No One But You and For You I’ve been pumped and excited to read Dorian and Jake’s story. From those two books I knew they had a good story that needed to be told and amazing chemistry. Alexandra Silva exceeded my expectations with Someone Like You. She literally blew me away!
Even though Someone Like You can be read as a standalone I recommend reading the two previous books. For me it meant I had a stronger connection and love for the characters. Not only Dorian and Jake but the others as well. Jamie, Quincy, Willow and their families. It’s a wonderful ensemble of characters that truly defines what the word family and love stands for.
It’s a beautiful journey following Dorian and Jake taking their friendship to the next level. The issues that comes with exploring a new relationship when their pasts is filled with losses and pain. They handle it like the adults that they’re are which I really like and appreciate. No over the top or unnecessary drama.
Dorian and Jake are pretty damn amazing. Their chemistry is insane. Off the charts. I reveled in every scene, every word they shared cause their connection and history spoke volumes. All thanks to the author. She let the characters shine where they are best. I knew that Dorian is a fabulous heroine from the other books but with SLY I fell even more in love with her. Jake just made my ovaries explode. With his every word and his actions. His love for Dorian and her boy Daniel made my heart sing. This series is all about the characters. Their dynamics. It’s about family, love and friendships.
What can I say except this is Alexandra Silva’s best book yet. While reading SLY I was constantly in a bubble filled with love and I can’t think of a better place to be when reading. I’m not ready to let these characters go. Hopefully there’s more to come. In the meantime I’ll bask in this awesome hangover.
5 Magic Stars
Dorian Anson and Jacob Roth finally get their full story! An exciting event as they make such a wonderful couple, along with Daniel her son, and Dorian has been through so much she deserves it.
I’m not sure I will ever be able to even think of truffles again without having a chuckle after reading this book! I enjoyed the levity in the story, especially between the female characters. Balancing this humour is a darker issue, we’ll really there are a few, but the main one concerning Jake’s sister is handled extremely well. While it does explain things in vivid detail, it also explores the problem with an honest yet positive outlook.
The fact that Dorian felt, after having lost Phillip, her son was the only person who had the rights to her love and affection, showed how deep her grief went but also how much she had tied herself to a man who no longer lived! This was the place where she was at for years!
The question in the book about Jake is..how come he has frown lines on his face when he is always smiling and joking around? That was one thing that really teased me even though we are given little snippets of his past gradually until all is revealed. This has impacted on his past relationships and still forms a stumbling block in this one too. The crumbling of said block is executed in a very smooth and classy way.
This is a longer story than most contemporary books, so you certainly get your money’s worth , but what shines through the most is the sheer class and style of the writing.
Alexandra Silva knocked me off my feet with her debut novel No One But You, then she left me speechless with For You and now she made me the happiest person on earth with Someone Like You
You need to read the other two books in the Imperfect Hearts Series!!!!!
We already know Dorian and Jake from NOBY and FY, but this is finally Dorians chance for her happy end and she deserves it like nobody else.
After losing Phillip Dorian has to go on with life for her little boy Daniel. And she does, because she is this strong, successful woman I have a huge girl crush on. Since Pips funeral her family, friends and Jake are her rock and Jake becomes one of her best friends. She enjoys his presence and she’s happy he gets along with her son. But she ignores her feelings for Jake. She doesn’t want to risk this friendship for one night of pleasure.
One night, because Jake never wanted more. But the more time they spend together, the more Jake becomes aware of his feelings for Dorian. And now all he has to do is to get over his past and convince Dorian, that he’s the right one for her and Daniel. Forever.
OMG, I love everything about this story. I love Dorian and Jake, Daniel and all the other characters. I love the credibility of the story, that all the characters have normal jobs and lifes. I love their friendships and the relationships between the siblings. I love them for being such great and loving parents.
The writing is excellent, I love Alexandras style and I’m really excited for everything that comes next.
What a love story!
Dorian is a single mom and lawyer – I just love her. She has gone through so much and her son is her life. She’s works hard to provide for her son. She is just so easy to admire. Dorian has an amazing network of family and friends who help her out whenever she needs, especially her brother’s best friend – Jake Roth.
Jake is a doctor with a playboy reputation and is quick with a joke. He doesn’t do relationships and has a few secrets that keep it that way.
These two friends are unknowingly building a relationship with every moment they share together. Both have issues to overcome, but eventually realize that maybe if they trust the other – they can have something more. All it takes is one decision and things change so much.
Jake is not at all how he portrays himself. He’s beautiful inside and out and just what Dorian needs and deserves.
Truly a romance from start to finish!
*** Just FYI – You should think about reading the previous books before reading this one. I didn’t read them, so when I started Someone Like You – I was a little confused. It felt like I was dropped into the middle of a long running conversation lol. Some things were cleared up, but if you want the details, please go back and read the previous books.
Also – there was some terminology I was not familiar with. A few google searches and I was ready to go!
First I have to say that this story is absolutely amazing and I could not get enough. I felt like I was right there next to Dorian and Jake seeing their story unfold and seeing all the fears they had and the love that grew each day for each other.
Dorian is a single mother living her life and taking care of her son. She has friends and she goes out and she catches the eye of Jake who has secretly loved her for a longtime. Dorian can see right through Jakes facade and she brings his walls down and he shown her his true self. The good, the bad , and the ugly.
As they start building a relationship from their friendship you get to see things unfold and see how much Jake is willing to do to be with Dorian and her son. He wants to be that man that takes care of Dorian and her son so they never half to worry about anything anymore.
This is an amazing love story that unfolds slowly and let’s you get to see what true love is and what a real man is and that is Jake!
To sum up this book with one word I would say Beautiful. It’s a story about Dorian a single mom because her husband passed away but she’s a strong woman that loves her son so much. Jake is a funny, sweet guy who himself is struggling but when he’s around his friend Dorian the light just shines. Two people that are friends but want more but know it will just complicate things. Will they both come together and feel the light and love that surrounds them? Amazing story that made my heart swoon many times! 5/5 stars
Dorian (Dor, Dory) is a hardworking single mom who suffered the worst possible tragedy possible earlier in her life, but she’s doing OK now. She’s got her beautiful son, Daniel, around whom her life revolves, her job, and her friends, one of whom is her brother’s friend, too. Jake is a successful doctor who’s long had feelings for his friend, Dorian. But she’s off-limits and always will be. Or will she always be? Is it possible for these two friends to ever reach a place where they can be more than friends?
I remember reading For You, and hurting for Dorian and wanting to know if she would ever get the happiness and love she deserved. Well I’m glad to be able to say that here in Someone Like You, she most definitely gets all the love and happiness she’s waited so long for. She and Jake are so great together, make such a perfect match. And what I like most about not just this conclusion to their story, but the previous installment, is how realistic the author makes their story. They behave in ways that we can all relate to. Things happen that can happen to any of us. This isn’t some flighty, fantastical story, but rather a true love story that anyone of us can relate to, and it’s honestly the best thing about it, about the author’s writing. I’ve loved reading Dorian’s journey and am so happy she found her happiness with Jake, who is the perfect man for her.
when friends become lovers, a single mom trying to juggle it all and a man who doesn’t let his true self show. when certain wounds run to deep can they ever heal? an attraction and friend ship that is undeniable, but fought on so many levels. so when the time finally happens, things heat up. love is undeniable and comes in many forms. its time Dorian and Jake to have their happy ever after.
Someone Like You is book three in the Imperfect Hearts series, and it is a standalone. I am going to recommend that to get the full effect of the story that you read books one and two in the series first.
Jake and Dorian are friends first, and have a friendship that has lasted for years. Their friendship starts to turn into more, but because of their pasts they are both scared to move forward and possibly ruin the strong friendship they have built.
I am deeply invested in these characters, and that is due to the amazing writing of the author. She clearly understands how to make the readers feel they are experiencing with the characters are experiencing, and I know that I will shed a tear or two while reading these angsty books.
Alexandra Silva has found a lifelong fan in me, I will read whatever she writes, and I look forward to what she has coming up next!
I’ve never read the previous books in the series and I’ve missed out. A friends to lovers with an older couple hurrah.
Dorian and Jake were fantastic characters both successful in their careers and very complex people. The story of single mum Dorian was so relatable, her struggles to juggle work home and her son without losing herself was something I could empathise with. Jake is very true to the saying still waters run deep because what you saw on the outside was not the man he was.
This was a very romantic story that had true to life situations. It was not all sunshine and rainbows but when I finished I was happy for me that’s always a good sign .

I know it’s early in the year but this is hitting my top reads of 2019 list . It was that good . It took me on a journey I hoped would never end. I had a little trouble understanding the supporting characters roles but it still captivated me .
Readers who love a good friends to lovers slow burn should definitely pick up Someone Like You.
This imperfect Hearts Series by Alexandra Silva is definitely an emotional series and one that tugs on your hearts in many ways. Alexandra Silva creates love stories that deserve the time it takes to read them. They have consistently been high quality and always tug at my heart strings.
One piece that stood out for me in Someone Like You was Daniel. I always enjoy stories with kids in them because they bring a delicate angle to the story. The parent always has to be careful in how to handle the child and the new partner now has to develop a relationship with that child. Watching it unfold is one of my favorite things. Children usually have no filter and can usually pick up on what is going on before they are ever told.
The relationship between Jake and Dorian is definitely a slow burning fire. One that you highly anticipate catching flame and you are not disappointed. There are so many elements that try to keep them apart and watching it all unfold was super amazing.
I usually like my stories with a little more suspense and I wish this story had something more to it other than what was there. There were a couple of underlying storylines that had great potential to be stressors for Jake and Dorian and would have enjoyed seeing those developed a little more or brought more trouble for them.
All in all not a bad read. I have yet to be disappointed by one of Alexandra Silva’s stories.
I am giving Someone Like You 4 stars.
It had been an angsty wait for me for Dorian and Jake’s story but so worth it as Ms Silva brings them the HEA and quality of love they not only deserve but what you would expect from her writing.
Though this book could essentially be a standalone, you will definitely be better prepared for this story having pre-read For You, Dorian and Phillip’s story.
I was surprised that after their connection had already been solidly established in For You, that Dorian and Jake have skated around one another for so many years before this relationship really gets off the ground and they confront the simmering chemistry they have.
But though we already know why Dorian is so closed off to investing in love again we had yet to understand our playboy surgeon Jake, and so essentially this is where we see the reason for his reticence.
This is a beautifully documented Friends to Lovers story that you know from the outset is going to pull firmly on your heart strings, such is the history of both these characters; but as tedious as their journey seems to be, and this would be my only criticism of this story that I did find it drawn out, you stay invested in the process to the achingly glorious conclusion because both Dorian and Jake deserve their happiness together more than any of the characters in this series.
Finally the story I’ve been waiting for since Alexandra Silva’s first book. Someone Like You is Dorian and Jake’s story. Theirs is not typical. It’s full of raw and real pain that is in direct conflict with all the beautiful, warm and soul fulfilling emotions falling in love brings. My heart was so heavy for Dorian. I loved getting to know her extent that you do in this book. I understood her more fully. I had so many moments of tears reading her chapters. And Jake…..he’s…wow! When you meet him in the other books he seemed like a flirty playboy to me. Typical no strings relationship type that charms everyone. We see a bit more substance to him in For You. In this book we see all his amazing colors. His vulnerability as a person. The love for his family. How he has endured the tragedies in his life. And the way he loves Dorian and Daniel? Completely and beautifully. He waited and waited for her while firmly cementing their friendship. When she finally allowed herself to turn towards him in a romantic way I was so happy. Of course you hope the couple you are reading about gets their HEA but I really really wanted it for them! The depth to both characters was something I very much enjoyed. 5 Amazing Stars
#Dorke Forever
I would highly recommend reading Books 1 and 2 in the Imperfect Hearts Series. Not only are they and great stories, they lay a wonderful foundation for Dorian and Jake. My heart was hurting for Dorian from the start of this beautiful romance. The events in her life molded her into the resilient, strong and wonderful mother that we grow to know and love. I don’t know how she did it, but the life she carved out for her and Daniel was beautiful. She’s fortunate to have a wonderful support system in her family, but the devotion and love she has for Daniel shines through every page.
Jake was somewhat of an enigma in No One But You and For You. We know he’s Jamie’s loyal friend, but what makes him tick?! What is he hiding behind those “smiles.” Dorian and Jake are great friends, she sees through the façade, but he holds his secrets close. THIS is what I loved about the development of their relationship, they have been friends for years. True, honest to goodness friends. That is what their foundation was built on. Once you cross that friendship line, what happens if things don’t work out? This is such an honest thing to think and feel. Neither of them wanted to lose what they already had together.
I adored Dorian and Jake’s story. There wasn’t a bunch of fluff and unnecessary drama. Their insecurities and fear of losing their friendship were honest and real. They didn’t want to lose what they had between them and the thought of not being in each other’s lives was unbearable. They appreciated each other, looked out for one another and their admiration for one another was apparent. Once things got heated there was no going back. And let me tell you, things get heated. Jake’s dirty talk leaves nothing to the imagination. When Jake wore his heart on the sleeve for Dorian I just about died. He was PERFECTION! The moral of the story is I loved Dorian and Jake, I loved their journey and if you are looking for an honest and real romance that will fill your heart, this is it!
