How long would you wait for love?
Max Kaufman was kicked out of his home as a teen and his life has been an uphill battle ever since. From addiction and living on the streets, to recovery and putting himself through nursing school, he’s spent the last ten years rebuilding his shattered sense of self. Now he’s taken a job as a private caretaker to Edward Marsh III, the president and CEO of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Max soon learns Marsh’s multi-billion-dollar empire is a gold and diamond-encrusted web of secrets and lies.
The longer Max works and lives with the Marsh family, the tighter the secrets tangle around him. And his heart—that he’s worked so hard to protect—falls straight into the hands of the distant, cold, and beautiful son of a dynasty…
Silas Marsh is set to inherit the family fortune, but his father is determined his heir be the “perfect” son. Before Silas can take over the company and end its shady business practices, he must prove himself worthy…and deny his true nature.
Silas must choose: stand up to his father by being true to himself and his undeniable feelings for Max. Or pretend to be someone he is not in order to inherit everything. Even if it means sacrificing a chance at happiness and real love.

A really good story about finding love and fighting for it! this is an out of the norm genre for me, but Emma Scott is a go to author for me, so this book was wonderful as her words always are!
Excellent characters and a heartbreaking but wonderful love story
I can’t believe that this is Ms. Scott’s first MM book. Max and Silas are now one of my most favorite couples.
Each of their backstories are so heartbreaking and the journey they take throughout is so beautifully crafted and written that this book will stay with me for a very long time.
Oh and I just loved Eddie so much and how both Max and Silas were with him.
Even if MM is not quite your thing, you should read this book because it is a masterpiece.
I have to admit, I didn’t fully read the blurb to know that this was m/m book. That being said, I actually really liked this book.
Max was kicked out of his house being caught with another man. He then struggled with drug addiction before hitting rock bottom. Finally recovering and making something of himself, he wants to reconcile with his family.
Silas is set to inherit his fathers company. But he has a secret, a secret he was sent away for and tried to correct.
Two broken people trying to make things right. What a great look into drug addiction and figuring out who your are. Accepting that and getting others to do so.
I was blown away by this book and loved it. Definitely one click it now.
Someday, Someday was a heartbreakingly beautiful book full of love, hope, and more feels than I knew what to do with.
This book is one that is completely relatable to readers and emotionally dark at times. Reading about both Silas and Max’s past and all they went through tore at my heart. Both were such amazingly complex characters and I absolutely loved getting to know them better as each layer was slowly peeled back. Max and Silas completely stole my heart as I became fully invested in their story with every word read. Their journey was by no means easy, pretty, or comfortable but it was truly unforgettable and left an indelible mark on my heart.
Someday, Someday is one of a few books I’ve been lucky enough to read that utterly amazed me. Full of relatable struggles, fantastic characters, hope and unconditional love this book is one that completely owned my heart. The beautifully powerful message woven throughout each page made for a definite must read book.
“Someday isn’t a day of the the week. It doesn’t come around automatically. You gotta go out there and get it.”
At the end of the day, the most basic human desire is to be loved exactly as we are. This is a story of healing; of forgiveness; of redemption; but most of all, it’s a story of love–basic, beautiful, unconditional, true love.
Absolutely breathtaking.
This book broke my heart into a thousand pieces but put it back together beautifully. I had to put it down several times because I couldn’t read through my tears. The story and writing deserve so much more than five stars. From the dedication to the epilogue, I was completely invested in Silas and Max’s journey. This will go down as one of my favorite m/m books ever. I can’t recommend it enough.
This book has wrecked me!!!
I’m pretty speechless, yet at the same time, I want to ramble on and on about it. Emma Scott simply wrote pure perfection with this one. It’s a complete emotional roller coaster; it made me angry, laugh, swoon, and even cry a bit. You will be rethinking everything you knew about forgiveness, second chances and letting go.
Max Kaufmann is a good guy, with a rough past. Kicked out of his home as a teen after being caught with a guy, Max found himself homeless and hitting rock bottom. Which might have been a blessing, because rock bottom brought him to recovery and then nursing school. Struggling with the emotions of being an ER nurse, Max gets a job being a private nurse to Edward Marsh, CEO of Marsh Pharmaceuticals. Only he doesn’t have to deal with only Edward, but his son as well.
Silas Marsh also has had a rough past, but no one really knows what he had to go through. He is incredibly closed off, from friends, family and from himself even. His main goal is proving to his father he is the perfect son, so his dad will make him CEO of company.
Silas and Max don’t get along at first, but there is just something between them. A connection. Chemistry. Max is there for Silas as he begins to open up, and Silas provides support for Max as well. Their friendship isn’t always easy, but it’s real and deep. There is just the small problems of some very big feelings brewing. The last thing Silas can do is be with another man.
Ugh, I just LOVED both Silas and Max. Their emotions are raw and the struggles they went through were hard to read at times. But despite that, they both had so much light to them, so much life. I wish I could give them both a big, tight hug! Their growth through out the book is incredible. They sure do have a beautiful love story.
I also adored Silas’ brother Eddie. It’s impossible not to.
The writing is amazing. I felt their pain, hopes, dreams, and joy. I found myself holding my breath at times, almost not able to handle the anticipation.
Simply wonderful, do yourself a favor and read this book!
A+ rating. Brilliant book. Beyond amazing read. Highly recommend this emotional, high drama story. It was so, so good. I didn’t want to put it down and could reread it again right now. So good!
Whenever Emma Scott releases a new book I know I am getting more than a good romance novel, I am getting an emotional experience. Someday Someday goes beyond the struggles of being a gay man in today’s world trying to create a happy life. It’s about excepting oneself, understanding self limitations, and striving to be the best human one can possibly be. It also about the importance of family, whether their impact is negative or positive. It molds a part of who we are and our individual self identities.
Max and Silas are more than gay men struggling to find their happily ever after. They are struggling to rise above self perceptions and become better people. They want to make our world a better place. Together they find the strength through the love for one another.
It’s hard to put into words the beauty of this story. It’s not about one’s sexuality but rather about one’s humanity. The epic love story is just the bonus.
I highly recommend Someday Someday by Emma Scott. It is a beautiful reading experience!
I honestly don’t even know where to begin this review. After seeing teasers for this book, I just knew that I wanted to read it. But I was BLOWN AWAY by how much different this book was than my original expectations.
Emma Scott is a new to me author and this will definitely not be my last from her. I was simply stunned by how brilliantly she tackled some tough topics that hit the LGBTQ community and delivered a storyline with absolute grace.
The entire book, the song I am Broken, too by Killswitch Engage was playing in my head. It absolutely fits this story, perfectly.
Max has rebuilt his life from rock bottom and refuses to indulge anything or anyone who will play him for a fool. He’s out to protect himself in every way possible, his body, his mind, his soul, his heart. When faced with the challenge of caring for someone who can tear it all down, will he survive?
Silas is a shell of a person. A mask held securely in place to avoid anything that resembles emotions. After a tragic childhood event, Silas must do everything he can to stand in his family’s good graces and obtain the kingdom he was promised. What happens when an unexpected run-in threatens that security?
You will absolutely fall in love with these two characters, and the older brother, Eddie. Their story is built on a solid foundation of pain, humiliation, heartbreak, and tragedy. This book will tear apart your heart and slowly put it back together.
There are so many moments in this book that caused my heart to ache for Silas and Max, both individually and as a couple. Their story is not pretty, it’s founded in pain but the redemption is a chorus of color.
And as always from my reviews, my top quotes of the book:
“I promised to protect my heart and instead I ripped it out of my chest and handed it to Silas Marsh.”
“Why does my da** heart have to feel so full- no, saturated with you Max? It’s so GD full of you, I’m petrified it’s going to spill over or shatter into a million different pieces.”
“I love you…. So, there you go.”
**happy sigh**
There is a lot going on in this book. It goes beyond a romance journey. It touches, respectfully and without turning the book dark, on some societal issues this nation/world needs to wake up and pay attention to.
Emma Scott did an exceptional job of weaving very real conflicts into this romance journey. But honestly, the romance journey wasn’t really the main journey in my opinion. The growth journey in this story was pivotal in my opinion to everything else that was going on in the story. Everyone grew! Everyone learned! Everyone had a HEA in my opinion. This story isn’t just about Silas and Max. It’s about everyone and it was real and relatable and scary and heartbreaking and oh so damn glorious! I’m not going to give you plot points on this story but you should definitely know that blurb does not do this book justice! Not that I have a clue where to begin a blurb for a book of this magnitude, but I was very happily surprised when I started reading. I am still dumbstruck at how everything came together in the end. Not everything was resolved in a neat little package, but the book ended with hope. And man, isn’t that the greatest feeling?!
You guys, I am seriously impressed b this author right now. I’m probably in the minority, but she hasn’t been on my radar before but she is now. This is a really good story, written exceptionally well. Read this book. Trust me.
Wow! This story is so much more than a M/M storyline. It’s a poignant story about struggling with acceptance and overcoming the tragedies of the past. I loved Max and Sila’s chemistry and my heart broke from their experiences and mended through their journey. I absolutely loved Eddie, he’s a breath of fresh air, his character brought a smile to my face and hope in my heart. I highly recommend this read.
I have read several MM romances and Someday, Someday is my favorite. Not just in the MM romance genre but in any genre! It’s definitely a top 2019 read for me.
My heart is so full of Max and Silas. Their worlds were flipped upside down and almost destroyed because of the hatred for who they loved. However, love was what saved these two incredibly strong characters. Silas and Max’s stories are hard, heartbreaking, raw and real. My heart broke for them. Their story is one I will keep close to my heart and one I will not forget.
While reading, I went through all the emotions these characters were feeling. I felt everything so deeply within my soul. Emma has a way of pulling you into her stories but she does it even more so with this one. Someday, Someday has ALL THE FEELS!!!! I want more Max and Silas in my life.
I could go on forever talking about this book in great detail but this is a book you have to experience for yourself. Trust me, it does not disappoint and will leave your heart so full of love.
A must read for everyone!!!
There are only a handful of books that hit me deep in the soul every year, and Someday, Someday has just launched itself to the top spot of 2019 for me! E Scott has always been a favorite author of mine – but her writing continues to get better and better with each novel. She challenges social issues, emotional boundaries, family dynamics, and creates that EPIC heart-wrenching love story EVERY TIME!
The story of Max and Silas is so much more than a love story though – it is about acceptance, forgiveness, resilience, and the premise that LOVE is LOVE. From the opening scene in the Prologue, I knew this book was not going to be easy to read – there are some dark moments that will break your human spirit and you will want to wrap up both of these characters and love them like no other. But in true E Scott fashion, she has crafted a story that reflects determination, strength and bravery from her characters that rival no other – both Max & Silas experience what no human ever should, yet both battle their way to what their heart wants and deserves.
While Max is compassionate, selfless, and resilient, Silas is broken, lost, yet starving for happiness and acceptance. Their connection is raw and real and they fit into each other’s lives like missing puzzle pieces. I never wanted their book to end. As their story unfolds and flashbacks are revealed into both of their pasts, you will fall further and further in love with these two men, and they will leave you shedding tears of both pain and joy. I felt like a protective friend or sister to them – I was so invested in their story, their lives, and they had me cheering for them like no other couple.
There are some villains in this story you will want to hate; but there are also several heroes – not just Silas & Max, who will have you wanting more of them and rooting for them just the same. I applaud E Scott’s talent to write not only an amazing and brilliant love story between two men, but also portray the challenges of addiction, homelessness, and our country’s current opioid epidemic with integrity. Silas & Max will forever hold a special place in my book-loving heart, and I encourage every single reader to pick up this book and remember…LOVE is LOVE! Well done once again E Scott!!
When I think of Emma Scott romances, I think about how I know I’m going to get a read that really drills down deep into the emotional head space of her characters. I know that I’m going to feel a sorta of melancholic nostalgia in sepia tone. Does that even make sense? It’s that sense of warmth and soft edges and curiosity about what you’re looking at/reading that keeps you thinking about long after you’ve walked away from it. No matter what Emma Scott writes, I have that sense of warmth and soft edges and emotional fulfillment when I’ve put the novel down.
At first it’s really Max who provides a lot of the warmth and softness in Someday, Someday; he has such a kindness and gentleness that comes off just right–not too soft, not too gentle, and he definitely takes no crap from anyone. He’s easy to love. Silas, on the other hand, is chilly and stand offish and broody and tortured and the more you get to know him, the more you feel for him, want to fight for him. As the story of how’s become the hard-nosed Silas is revealed, and the more he allows himself to relinquish some of the ways he’s punished himself, the more you find yourself falling for him too. I guess what I’m saying is that it was easy to fall under the spell of Max but falling for Silas was equally rewarding. Somehow seeing those tough guys melt a little has a way of melting us all, doesn’t it? I think I say this about all? of her novels–I really enjoyed meeting them and knowing them and now I find myself thinking about them days after reading their story.
In Someday, Someday Emma Scott takes on a lot with Max and Silas–addiction, alienation from family, and company corruption– and in any other authors hands it may have been too much; but in her hands these major, heavy topics are given the space to be developed and woven into narratives that address each major plot point and work together seamlessly.
This was not what I’d call an easy read. The past lives of Max and Silas are ones that I can’t imagine having either one of my children live through and yet I know some parents, even in the more enlightened age of 2019, willingly allow or participate in. It’s intolerable and terrible and hateful. So even though it was hard to read, I think it was important to read and to honor those who’ve lived through it and are sharing their stories; and for those who haven’t, that we honor them by doing better. It’s for this reason, and many more, that I appreciate that Emma Scott continues to create characters who not only give us something to think about but also give us hope that better days can come.
This book!!! You really need to read this one. I’m so in love with Someday, Someday. Emma Scott did something magical and just gave me a book I never realized I was missing in my life. This made my heart happy. I have never met two more swoon worthy men then Max and Silas. Man I love those guys. I love how similar both men are and compassionate too. There is just that slow spark that just builds stronger and stronger as Max and Silas grow together and overcome their past. The healing both Silas and Max go through is so beautiful that brought on many happy tears. This book needs to be read and feel the love of Max and Silas.
5 “my heart is so full it may burst out my chest” stars!
There are a few things that make books exceptionally good for me…wonderful characters, character growth or overcoming a challenge that fits the story line, an intrinsic message that is relevant in today’s society, and meaningful dialogue. Emma has managed to check each of those boxes with her latest novel.
I enjoyed this one so much. I enjoyed the struggle, the pain, the confusion, the longing, the hope, the acceptance, the truth, the physical, the friendship, the love. The trajectory of the story was perfect and the pacing couldn’t have been better. It was a joy to read and now I’m gonna bask in the love and hope I’ve been bathed in by beautiful Max and Silas.
4.5 stars
Life had not been easy on Max Kaufman. Forced to grow up on the street, he learned the hard way that survival meant protecting himself both physically and emotionally. A new job brought in not only hope for a new beginning but also a new distraction.
Silas Marsh might have everything he ever wanted, except one that he needed the most. As an heir to a successful corporation, he was bound by expectations. He needed to find himself or risked destroying both of their future.
My favorite kind of M/M book is the kind that features the character’s personal struggles. This book has it in spades.
Max and Silas faced similar battles but in a different world and with individual ways of coping. Max had a heart of gold and I liked him, but Silas clung to my heart right from the beginning, even through moments that made me want to fling him off a cliff.
I liked how the book heavily emphasized on family aspect, either by blood or friendships. However, due to personal preferences, I wasn’t a fan of the long epilogue. I did like how issues in the story progressed and resolved organically.
Someday, Someday is a story of acceptance and accountability. It would appeal to readers who enjoy M/M romance with broken characters.
Note 1: I loved it whenever Max wealth shamed Silas lol!
Note 2: Eddie was my favorite character in the book. He added tremendous soul into the story.
I don’t have the words to convey how absolutely incredible Someday, Someday was to read. Emma has an uncanny ability to rip your heart out and leave you completely shattered. yet you can’t stop reading. This is Emma’s first foray into the M/M genre and she showed there really isn’t anything she can’t do, she showed Max and Silas the love and respect they so deserved and she makes you fall in love with them too, you want them to succeed and you want the best of everything for them. they both have been to hell and back and your heart will break for them both, and you will be routing for them, and cheering them on!! And the side characters are just as incredible/maddening in some cases…I loved Eddie!!! Faith was awesome, I so hope she gets a book!! You need to read this book, I loved it and I do believe you will too. thank you so much Emma for writing this fantastic book, and sharing it with us
Emma Scott slayed me with Someday, Someday. From the first page, I knew my heart was going to be in for it. Here’s your warning, this book was heavy. Hard to swallow at times. And I found myself rubbing my chest to ease some of the ache. But it was so worth it.
I loved Max. His life was challenging but he was so strong. Pulled himself up out of his darkest moments, and learned who he was. What he would and wouldn’t stand for. But it was his kindness, his compassion, his tender heart that endeared him to me the most. And when a job opportunity leads his to the door of the mysterious and guarded Silas, all bets are off.
I bled for Silas. He had such a good heart under all his hurt. He had been through more than most. The pain of his past haunted him daily. He couldn’t escape it even in his dreams. It took a lot of patience on Max’s part and a lot of soul searching on Silas’ but they came to a friendship of sorts. And bubbling under all of it was this attraction, this tension that was just waiting to ignite.
Between a crisis of epic proportions brewing at work, and finally letting himself feel for the first time in ages, Silas is on unsteady ground. He doesn’t like it. But he sure did like Max. The push and pull. The fear of the fall out of their friendship that was so much more…it was all getting ready to implode and no one would be left unscathed.
What a twisted tale of family, scheming, forgiveness and hope. Hats off to Emma Scott for tackling addiction and abuse and acceptance boldly with the grace and care those topics deserve. And in the middle of it all was a love story that made my heart soar. Both Max and Silas battled so much. Survived so much. They fought hard for their happiness, their love. Each other. And that made everything they achieved together all the much sweeter.
Max & Silas
Two individuals who have had traumatic experiences in their young life, find each other and a bond is developed.
It’s indescribable the cruel torture Silas experienced at a young age all because he was gay.
Unaccepted by his father and shipped to be rediscovered in a horrible way. Max has been disowned without question what happens in the following weeks in his life is heartbreaking but he at least he found a guardian angel.
Max and Silas have scars in their souls that cannot be mended until they find each other but one must fight harder to accept this new life, this new love in order to enjoy a happy life with one another.
This was a beautiful written story that leaves you yearning for more of Max & Silas.
