How long would you wait for love?
Max Kaufman was kicked out of his home as a teen and his life has been an uphill battle ever since. From addiction and living on the streets, to recovery and putting himself through nursing school, he’s spent the last ten years rebuilding his shattered sense of self. Now he’s taken a job as a private caretaker to Edward Marsh III, the president and CEO of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Max soon learns Marsh’s multi-billion-dollar empire is a gold and diamond-encrusted web of secrets and lies.
The longer Max works and lives with the Marsh family, the tighter the secrets tangle around him. And his heart—that he’s worked so hard to protect—falls straight into the hands of the distant, cold, and beautiful son of a dynasty…
Silas Marsh is set to inherit the family fortune, but his father is determined his heir be the “perfect” son. Before Silas can take over the company and end its shady business practices, he must prove himself worthy…and deny his true nature.
Silas must choose: stand up to his father by being true to himself and his undeniable feelings for Max. Or pretend to be someone he is not in order to inherit everything. Even if it means sacrificing a chance at happiness and real love.

…try to let it go, live for right now
Emma Scott’s Someday, Someday is an absolutely stunning hurt/comfort romance. Both characters are so beautifully damaged, and need each other so desperately, it’s just perfect.
I’m amazed by Max’s ability to forgive the wrongs done to him by his family. To come back from what he went through, dedicate himself to helping others, and strive to find everything good in life, is inspirational.
And Silas, what a transformation! Not as far into his recovery as Max, we get to see this part of his life, and Ms. Scott does an amazing job with it. The flashbacks to his time in conversion therapy are chilling and incredibly emotional.
This is the first time I’ve read anything by Emma Scott and I was repeatedly impressed by how vividly she describes things. Expressions, emotions, the interior of a room… it doesn’t matter, her words are wonderful.
Someday, Someday kept me enthralled through the whole story. Beautifully written, emotional, and heart-breakingly romantic, this is one fantastic novel.
Someday Someday, is my first read by this author. And let me tell you, it won’t be my last! Such an amazing journey filled with all the feels, angst, laughter and scorching chemistry!
“Every minute you’re alive is a second chance to start over. I honor my past, but I don’t live in it. I choose this moment instead. Right here.”
Unfortunately, the hardship these two MC have been through, is common. Not being accepted for who they are and who they want to love.
Max and Silas are match made in heaven! So perfect for each other!
“Forgiveness isn’t for the person you’re forgiving. It’s for yourself. To set the burden down and move on.”
I really enjoyed the suprise element of the story, Eddie! It gave the story a twist and more depth, and definitely more heart!
For the most part, I enjoyed Someday, Someday by Emma Scott. The character development was well done and the plot raised awareness of some real social issues going on. I loved Silas’ transformation from frosty, icy cold, PTSD guy to “I have to fix this situation’ guy.
However, the sticking points for me that caused 4 out of 5 stars was that the book seemed to draaaaaag on much longer than was necessary. And let’s be honest, these guys were 24/25 years old – let’s get a handle on the Daddy issues. You don’t need to put up with homophobic parents any longer. If my dinner with my mother went the way Max’s dinner with his mother, I wouldn’t be seeing them again. Get therapy and get on with your life. (I speak from experience, unfortunately).
I’m glad Max and Silas found happiness in the end. (Eddie too)
Max is quickly burning out on his current job, when a co-worker tells him of a job that may be too good to be true. He figures what can it hurt to interview? Then he finds out who is connected to the job.
Silas has been hiding. His father cannot have him be himself, for fear it will ruin the family name. Can he impress him and become the next CEO of the family business?
Sweet story with an excellent way of explaining about love over expectation. Some dark elements, with additiction, and abuse. I loved that the author had such a new way to make us feel it can be discussed. I liked that the characters had a sense of self, and were able to show development. The friendship explored was also a treat to read. I enjoyed this book.
A heartwrenching love story that shows how love, in all its forms, truly wins over bigotry and prejudice.
Someday Someday is a MM romance between two people who may be opposites in socioeconomic status but who have experienced the same intolerance from those who were supposed to love them most – their families.
Max Kaufmann is a nurse who’s fought hard to overcome the hardships in his life. After being thrown out on the streets by his own family at age 16 for kissing another boy he’s battled living on the streets and drug addiction and has come out the other side. He’s now back in his hometown hoping to renew his relationship with his family.
Silas Marsh is the COO of his family’s multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company. He turned to his company’s own painkiller to numb himself from the PTSD he’s suffering from as a result of abuse he endured as a teenager. Looking for help to keep himself sober, he found himself at an NA meeting where he meets Max.
Unbeknownst to both men, Max ends up taking a job as an in-house nurse to Silas’ ailing father. The close proximity sparks their initial attraction but it’s an attraction that comes with great risks, especially for Silas.
I thought Someday Someday was a wonderful story that dealt with intolerance, love, acceptance and human tragedy. Both Max and Silas struggle with the lack of acceptance by their families for the simple fact that they are gay. This lack of acceptance has had severe consequences for both.
The star of this book for me was Silas. He was perseverance personified. He went through a horrific experience as a teen and years later is still suffering the consequences. He’s still under the thumb of his father, the man responsible for his suffering, because he needs his approval to take over the company. Only his approval comes at the cost of denying his true self.
I thought Emma Scott did a fantastic job really showcasing how lonely Silas is and just how much of himself he has had to deny for the sake of his father. He’s not only had to deny his attraction to men but he’s had to deny his passions as well.
Max’s character was a great counterpoint even though they shared some parallel struggles. Though he’s no longer hiding the fact that he’s gay, he too is still struggling with acceptance from his family.
This was a heart wrenching book to see just how a person’s cruelty and homophobia can truly turn someone into a shell of a person. And yet, it was also a story of how love can help piece you back together. I’m not sure I believe some of the quick turn-around that occurred at the end of the book but it’s easily overlooked given the connection forged between these two lovers.
This was such a well-written book that I highly recommend reading.

A deep, dark (at times) and disturbing story filled with hope. Both have been the subject of hatred for who they are, by those who were meant to protect and love unconditionally. Years later, one has been able to move forward and become stronger, the other still suffers from the old wounds. Neither one looking for the other, but find they are drawn to one another like moths to a flame. In addition to battling the demons of their past, they are also fighting the attraction they have for one another, as their’s is a ‘forbidden’ romance. This is a beautifully written story that has a lot of feels. More anger (on behalf of the characters) from what they had gone through, and the hatred they still come across. There are characters you’ll love and several you will loathe. A couple of the characters bring some much needed comic relief. (Note to author: I LOVE Eddie!) It is a lengthy read and takes a little while to get through, but well worth it. It alternates between POVs. There is some sexual content, and this is a M/M romance. There are also some disturbing events that took place in the past, brought to the future via flashbacks and dreams, that make this suitable for mature readers.

Emma Scott has once again wrote an emotionally beautiful story, between two men who are trying to find their way in this not always so beautiful world. Silas and Max were two characters you wanted to see succeed and find their happily ever after. Add in Silas’s brother Eddie and their friends who turned into family and it’s a full world you never want to leave.
Max has had a rough life of homelessness, addiction, and working hard to overcome it all. He is taking care of a wealthy patient when he meets the man’s son Silas. Silas is the heir to the fortune but his father wants him to deny his nature to be the “perfect” son. Silas and Max have an attraction to each other but so many lies and secrets surround Silas’ family. This is a heartbreaking story of addiction, second chances and being true to yourself. A great read.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
While looking through the list of books to read in the review group, this one from Emma Scott came up and I knew without reading the blurb that I wanted to read it.
This story is not for those that do not like m/m stories or heartbreaking stories. If you only want the sappy love stories without all the pain, heartache and love it takes to make a great story then you need to move along, this story is not for you. For those that love the stories with all the angst that makes a story great, then please read this one and I hope you love it too.
Max was kicked out of his home as a teen when his Dad caught him with another boy. He spent years on the streets doing this young never want to imagine. Now, years later and the help of someone who cared, he has made something of himself. He is now working as a nurse in the E.R. but seeing all that he sees is beginning to get to him. When a job offer lands in his lap.
Silas is the son of a wealthy family. He has the scars to prove it. Trying to make Daddy proud and live the life Daddy wants but at what cost? When Silas goes to an NA meeting he sees Max, something stirs inside him. He just watches him and listens. When he leaves the meeting and swearing he will never go back. But the next meeting Silas (or Steve as he introduces himself) finds himself there and he opens up and talks. When he goes to leave he and Max literally run into each other. The electric current running between them is sizzling.
Will Max take the new job offered to him? Can Silas trust Max to tell him about his past? Will there be a future for Max and Silas? And what about Eddie, Silas’ brother? Will Max ever reconcile with his Dad?
This story is one that will break your heart in so many ways but don’t worry, Emma Scott will put it back together eventually. The roller coast ride of emotions is from the very first page and continues until the very end. If you have read anything from Emma Scott yet, pick one it doesn’t matter which one, you will have a new author to read I promise.
**Wicked Reads Review Team**
I finished this book on Thanksgiving Eve. It took me a little time, to put my thoughts together, about this truly beautiful, heart-wrenching story. I finished writing this review in early December of 2019. However, it’s taken a little bit longer to finally post it.
One of the the things I’m grateful/thankful for this year, is Emma Scott and her truly amazing storytelling. This book is Max’s long awaited story, who we were introduced to in “Forever Right Now” (another 5 Star read).
This is a m/m story. Some may not like/agree with that type of love story. Sadly, I used to be (past tense) one such reader. Since becoming an avid reader in 2014, I’ve become more open-minded/liberal in my reading choices. FSOG was the book that re-introduced me to my love of reading. Without that open-minded thinking, I would have missed out on so many great authors and books, especially, Emma.
Max & Silas each have such heart-breaking/heart-wrenching backgrounds. Max had a short & abrupt family life, before living on his own. All that he needed to do to survive & come through the other side is truly heart-breaking and brave.
Max has such a huge heart & care-giving spirit. I fell in love with him after briefly meeting him in “Forever Right Now”. I couldn’t wait to learn more about him & read his story. This book was everything I hoped it would be and more.
Silas is truly a beautiful and broken soul. My heart continually broke for him, for all that he had to endure and the tragedies he suffered.
I loved everything about their story. How they meet, learning about their siblings, and catching up with their closest friends. Emma did a phenomenal job bringing both of their stories full circle.
This book is a love story, plain and simple. There is no need for labels, pre-conceived ideas, or thoughts. It is a very important book with a message that is truly needed at this time. Forgiveness and understanding. It also is so important because of the social issues talked about and dealt with also. It is a work of fiction. However, it feels like so much more to me.
I highly recommend this beautiful book about two broken souls and their well-fought fight for a much deserved HEA.
Emma Scott is truly a gifted & socially conscious storyteller. I applaud her for all of her dedication & hard work in telling such emotional & beautiful stories.
I said it before, in another review of one of her books, that I would read anything she writes. That statement is as true today, as it ever was. It might sound crazy, but I feel like a better, more socially conscious person after I read one of her books.
This wasn’t my first m/m story, but it is definitely my favorite.
Perfection
Loved everything about this book!
5 All the Love & Stars!!
Whenever Ms.Scott announces a new book I get so happy. I’ve been counting down the days until I could pick up Someday, Someday! I was glued to my kindle from the start. This story made me feel everything under the sun. I absolutely loved it!
Silas and Max’s story was so real to me. I couldn’t hold in my emotions while reading and I wanted to jump into this book so many times to hug them. I fell so head over heels in love with these two!
Ms.Scott has created one of the most powerful and unputdownable books I’ve ever read with Someday, Someday! It’s my new favorite book of hers and It’s forever left a mark on my heart. Everyone needs this book in their life!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Social Butterfly PR / the author*
SOMEDAY, SOMEDAY, a beautiful and bitter-sweet love story
I was attracted by the cover at first, I have read Emma Scott before and love her work and well, I just dove in. Did I know it was MM? did I read the blur properly? NO, and just so you know it isn’t my usual genre to read either but I was so moved and so glad I read it.
Silas and Max first meet at an AA meeting and although Silas is sat at the back listening to Max’s story of how he ended up an addict, how he was thrown out of his own by his own father for being gay, Silas leaves before anyone can talk to him or introduce themselves to him, hes the dark visiting stranger at the back of the room but even then Max felt drawn to him.
They meet again formerly when Max who is a nurse starts work along with other teams of nurses for Silas’s father who runs a multi billion pharmaceutical company.
Silas’s Back story and the relationship with his homophobic father is heartbreaking, they both have similar history with their parents and its no surprise that they have an instant connection and a bond like no other.
There is so much content in this book and it truly is a moving story, a story of addiction, heartache, forgiveness, healing, finding real love and I loved the other characters, Silas’s brother with Asperger’s, Silas’s pretend fiance and Max’s best friend.
Max and Silas were both victims for being just who they were meant to be and it was a heartbreaking yet beautiful journey to discovery for both of these inspirational characters.
This was my first M/M read. Well, sort of. I read novellas before but never a whole novel. I don’t know why. But since my favorite author wrote it I gave it a chance.
I’m so glad I did.
Someday, Someday is a wonderfully written romance between Max, who has been burned before and now wants to live and love life fully and Silas, who was hurt in the past so badly, he can’t see through his pain.
Max saved him before it was too much. Before he would completely lose himself.
I feel like no matter what I say, I won’t say enough. I love how patient Max was, how he loved Silas’s brother unconditionally and I love Silas’s kind heart. He looked like he was made of stone on the outside but that was just his mask.
Okay, I may have said I basically loved everyone in the past paragraph but I can’t help it, it’s a beautiful story.
So if you’re like me, not really into M/M romances but a little bit curious, just a little, and don’t know with which book to start to satisfy your curiosity, this is the book to start.
I’m trying really hard to not spoil much or tell the whole story with my review so I’m gonna end the review here…
One teeny, tiny thing that bothered me was that in the end everything just falls into place. Not with them (of course they get their HEA) but with side characters. I know it’s fiction but probably not all people are that accepting, I’m guessing. But I still love the ending even though it was not what I expected.
5 stars.
One thing that you can always count on when you read a book by Emma Scott, is that you’re on the path to a rather emotional read. I’ve been reading a few back to back M/M reads and I have been loving every second of it. In Someday, Someday, you have a billionaire romance that’s a bit of a slow burn and the tension is off the charts!
Max and Silas, ugh, these two were just everything! I loved that they were exactly what each other needed. Both on different paths of their lives, all while going on another path, together.
The slow burn really got to me, but in the best way possible! The tension was everything and I was just waiting on the edge of my seat waiting for these two to just finally give in. And it’s such a glorious thing.
As much as I loved this read, there were some aspects to Max’s story that I was hoping for a bit more development on. And some parts of the book started to lose me a bit and became lengthy.
These went through so many life hurdles and they deserved everything good that life had to offer. A definite must-read!
**A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY WAS PROVIDED BY THE PR IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.**
Silas and Max’s story was both a heart crushing and mending story. To read the past for both of them, to know that this isn’t something made up for a book, it’s crushing, especially that parents still can’t accept the way people are. They fought battles, both of them together and separately, for themselves and others.
This was my first book by Emma Scott and she crushed it. I honestly can not wait to read more of her books.
What an incredible book written by Emma Scott!! I loved everything about the lessons in life this book brings out.
Max and Silas are two broken people. Put though very challenging situations because of their choices to be who they really are.
I loved this line:
“There aren’t rules about love.”
How Max and Silas get to a happily ever after is a beautiful story of learning about themselves, learning to accept themselves, learning how to love and how to forgive.
Emma Scott has created another book where real issues are laid out there and addressed and how people deal with the situations around them!
This book has wonderful supporting characters. Eddie melted my heart. I loved watching all the characters grow in different ways.
And simply put… one of the best life lessons I wish every person could realize….
“Forgiveness isn’t for the person you’re forgiving. It’s for yourself. To set the burden down and move on.”
Thank Emma for this reminder! And thank you for a wonderful book!
So I’m not going to lie, I did put this book down for a while because I’m not a huge fan of MM. I don’t mind it when it’s MMF or MFM but when it’s just MM I normally don’t gravitate towards these books.
But I said “what the hell” I might as well give it a chance because it was boggling my mind that it was getting such great reviews and I knew I had to sit down and read it….in the end.
Well I have to say that I am so, so glad that I did give this book a chance because it had some very important, emotional and life altering topics that you just don’t want to miss out on. The story of Silas and Max was one that was extraordinary wonderful.
These characters totally won my heart and I loved them both. This definitely was a tough book to read because of what the book was about and what these guys went through but I definitely am glad I went through and read it because I have to say it’s one of my favorite MM stories to date!
What a beautiful story…one that was both sad and joyful…wonderful love story …I stayed up late to finish it…and want more…Max and Silas are one of the best couples ever…
