You might think I had it all—a career I loved, a supportive family, the Nixon metabolism but not the Nixon ears, and a salary that supported my lavish taste in designer shoes, fine wine, and lacy lingerie … but I had no one to share it with.
Until the day I ran into him—my one night stand from college with the crooked smile, let’s-get-out-of-here eyes, and dirty, dirty mouth.
Cute and cocky …
Cute and cocky then, today Levi Brooks is six feet four inches of hot bearded fantasy. A sexy single dad with broad shoulders, strong hands, and a fantastically big … heart. (I mean, it’s massive. And generous. And it pumps so hard … um. Sorry. Lost my place.)
Being a good father means everything to him, but he’s keeping me at a distance because he thinks I deserve someone better — a man who can give me more time, more attention, more of himself. He doesn’t believe he could ever be enough.
But he’s wrong.
He’s everything.

It was my first read from Melanie Harlow and I couldn’t get enough of this story. It was romantic, funny and hot as hell! Just loved the chemistry between Levi and Jillian. I couldn’t put it down, that’s how much I loved it. It just had all the ingredients a good story needs.
I got this book for an honest review and it’s definitely worth the read. I will definitely read more in this series 🙂
This was an ok listen. The narration was ok. I fast forwarded through the sex scenes. I thought each of the MC’s were whiny in there own ways.
Jillian acting like she was ancient. At 30, she wanted to act like life was almost at an end because she wasn’t married and didn’t have kids. She was a freaking doctor! That didn’t happen in 4 years, or overnight. I do have to admit that I agreed with her about her relationship with Levi. At least when she finally stood up for herself.
Levi was an architect with an autistic son. My issue was that he kept listening to his mother and sister talk about how he should raise his son. Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t hear him talk about getting any professional opinions about how to best manage Frankie’s challenges. I didn’t hear his sister OR his mother say anything about seeing someone who is a professional in autism to help them better connect with Frankie. It seemed like they had no understanding of anything dealing with autism. To me, it felt like they didn’t want to put forth the effort. They only wanted him to behave the way they wanted him to behave.
Levi’s attitude about keeping the two parts of his life separate was fine with Jennifer until it wasn’t. I got a bit tired of them both, but I finished listening. 2.5 stars.
I fell in love with the guys in the previous books and there comes Levi. I can’t pick which one of the guys is the best in this series, but I definitely love Jillian Nixon the most. This book is really emotional, really steamy and the best of this series. I think that was the best ending for the Nixon family.
4/5
This is exactly what I needed to get out of mine reading slump. This isn’t my first Melanie Harlow read and of course not my last.
We follow Jillian and Levi who had a one night stand in college. Both of them still sometimes think about the night they had together.
Levi’s life did change a lot since college, he has become a single dad. Being a good dad means everything for Levi. So much that sometimes he struggles with finding a good balance between his own needs and his needs to be a good father.
Jillian is hitting her thirty’s soon.
With Jillian’s sisters both finding love she feels this pressure from the people around her because she is the oldest sister.
When they meet again on the wedding of Jillian’s sister, both of them hit it of (again) pretty soon.
Because Levi struggles to find his balance in his personal life and his needs to be a good dad he and Jillian don’t always see eye to eye on things..
I adored both of these characters. Levi and Jillian had chemistry from the start and I loved that they were both honest about is. Melanie had a lot more to tell in this story then them getting together alone.
When Levi and Jillian didn’t see eye to eye there wasn’t hate there, the characters didn’t want to hurt each other with there words. I’m not saying this didn’t happen but both of them just wanted to be loved by one another and understood. Both of them were also trying this. When Jillian and Levi had these moments it was really hard to agree with just one of them. Both of them came from a understandable point of view.
Best if this series. That aside, his mother and sister may be the most uninformed and awful grandmother and aunt to a child on the spectrum. Their behavior and attitude about how Levi is raising and dealing with his child was terrible and at many times horribly offensive. Their love story sweet.
Spicey !
So I liked this one but didn’t love it.
I liked that H was a single dad to a special needs child , I liked the h was a professional and has great relationships with her family and that this couple was a more mature age (early 30s )
I felt there was too much over descriptive details and dialog parts and the hot and spicey chemistry between the two main characters got a little lost at time the would come back ten fold in the next scene .
Which was a little too up and down for me
But overall a great way to end a very sexy series . Lots of sizzling scenes !!
I love how all Melanie’s characters have chemistry since the start and that makes the ride so enjoyable, and this story was super hot!
I just wish I had seen more of the dynamic of the couple with Levi’s son a bit more.
It was a good ending for such a cute series. It was great to see what the other couples were up to.
Some Sort of Love is the third book in the Happy Crazy Love Series but it can be read as standalone. Each book is about a Nixon sister. I haven’t had the chance to read Skylar’s story but I did read Natalie’s and loved it. All three sisters are amazing in their own way. Now onto Jillian’s ever after…
Jillian had it all. A career she loved, a loving family, and an impressive shoe collection but she was lonely. She wanted what her sisters had, someone to welcome them home after a long day, a love like no other. And going to her sister Skylar’s wedding dateless was just another reminder that she didn’t have that and it didn’t help that others would be making it even clearer. But, what she didn’t know was that she would run into him. The boy she would never forgot, now was the man she wanted again…
Levi doesn’t get out much. He is a full-time single dad to an amazingly sweet boy but it was a challenge. But, tonight, he was just a man that saw the woman he has dreamed about for the last eleven years. He never forgot her and now she was here at his friend’s wedding. He wanted a second chance but could it even be possible? His life isn’t easy and knew from the moment he saw her, that she deserved more than what he could give her.
Levi and Jillian reunited that night and she started to be his Girl Friday. It was the only days of week they could be alone. In their bubble even if it was only a few hours. They decided to take things slow but when real feelings developed, they felt the shift. Will Levi always want to be two different people or would he want to combined the two? Could he let Jillian into his son Scotty’s life? Will the guilt of loving her be too much? Can Jillian prove to him that he deserve to be happy without feeling selfish?
I loved this story! I fell for the characters instantly. They are both strong, filthy-talking, beautiful souls that deserve each other. They just need to believe it themselves. I thought it was awesome that Levi and Scotty’s challenges were so involved in the book. It made them even more lovable. Then there was Levi and Jillian of course, their chemistry is sexy, their sexting skills are on point, and they love their whiskey. It was also great catching up with her sisters and their men.
Overall…it’s a beautiful, sexy, emotional, and fun book. I highly recommend reading thi series!
Quotes:
“I could hardly concentrate at work. If you see a vacation house shaped like an erection in Petoskey, you’ll know that was the one I worked on this week.”
He kissed me again and pulled me into his arms. “I don’t deserve you, Girl Friday. But I want to.”
“What are you doing?”
“Shh. Don’t talk.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m trying to make my hard-on go away, and hearing your voice gives it ideas.”
“I could make it go away,” she said sweetly.
“Gah! Stop!” I put my hands over my ears. “You’re giving it hope!”
Some Sort Of Love was the third and final book in Melanie Harlow’s Happy Crazy Love Series. Like the others, it can be read as a stand-alone but once again, you might get a few spoilers from the first two books, but nothing that will ruin their stories. Some Sort Of Love was my favorite book. Not only was it super-hot and sexy, it was hysterical! I laughed out loud so many times. I loved that Melanie used real life issues in her books, showing that love can conquer all!
Jillian had a great life – a good job and a good family, the only thing missing was a good man. Luckily for her, Levi walked back into her life. A one night stand from years ago was just as tempting but this time he came with a son. Would he be what she was missing?
Levi fell for Jillian quick but could he allow himself to bring her into his son’s life? What if it didn’t work out? He wasn’t thinking for just himself. Would he allow his fears to rule their relationship and let her walk away? Or would he see that she would make an amazing addition to his family?
Levi melted my heart; especially how protective he was of Scotty!! What a wonderful man, I swooned over him several times. In the end, I was really glad I read and finished this series! Like I said, this book was my favorite! Jillian and Levi were so good together! There was so much beauty within this book!!
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Some Sort of Love (Jillian and Levi): A Happy Crazy Love Novel by Melanie Harlow and this review was given freely.
A steamy and at times humorous novel featuring some erotic conversations, many life changes for the Nixon sisters, a single protective father unwilling to trust, and a heartwarming ending. On the eve of her sister Skylar’s wedding, Pediatrician Jillian Nixon runs into her college closet trist the now architect and single dad of an autistic son, Levi Brooks.
Conclusion of the Nixon sisters. Really fun, touching, witty, and different set of stories. Men dealing with real life struggles. Women willing to step up and out to help find the love they all deserve.
Well edited.
Jillian is the oldest Nixon sister and a successful pediatrician. She’s watched her sisters find love, and is wondering a little where her HEA is. At Skylar’s wedding reception, she literally runs into Levi. He’s an architect and a friend of Sebastian’s. He’s also the hot hook-up from college. What are the chances? They reconnect. But life has changed for Levi. He’s got a son. And, his son is on the autism spectrum. Levi tries to balance it all – his son, his son’s needs, and dating Jillian. He has some guilt and a fear of not being enough. How can he give Jillian everything when his son needs so much? Will he sabotage their relationship to prove he isn’t enough and she won’t stay? Will Jillian be able to get him to combine his role as dad with his role as boyfriend? Will Scotty be able to accept a new person in their life?
This is a great conclusion to the Nixon sisters adventures in love. We get more of Skylar and Sebastian as well as a peak at their wedding. We get more of Natalie and Miles, as well as peak at their Christmas surprise and their new son. So much goodness. Real life issues are addressed in such a thoughtful and beautiful way. Enjoy!
I love love Jillian and Levi. This book was so funny it had me laughing out loud so much. I really love that there was a N/T child in this book and an accurate look at what is like to parent a child with high functioning autism, not to mention as a single parent. Levi is such an amazing father you can’t help but fall in love with him on top of that he is incredibly sexy.
I am so totally in LOVE with SOME SORT OF LOVE!!! Beautifully written by Melanie Harlow, this love story tells of the desperate desire and need for love in one’s life. This is the last book of Melanie’s “Happy Crazy Love” series, it it does not disappoint!! Jillian Nixon has always put her career as a pediatrician first, but she’s lonely. A chance meeting with a past lover and life will never be the same. Levi Brooks is also so lonely. He’s a single father of a sweet boy with Autism, who’s given up everything to devote himself to raise him. They both need each other, yet how can they find time with such busy schedules. Will Friday nights be enough to satisfy them? Levi will have to let her in or lose her. I honestly loved this couple as they were real. The way Melanie tells a story is like no other, so detailed and full of raw emotion, you can’t help but ache or rejoice for her characters!! I’d give this book a million shining stars if I could!!! I was given this book for an honest review and I’m so grateful!!
I absolutely loved this story! It was funny, sexy, heartbreaking and heartwarming. Jillian Nixon is right where she wants to be. She is a successful Pediatrician, she’s healthy, has a nice condo, and has a great relationship with her family. But when she see’s how happy and in love her sisters are tho, she realizes just how lonely she really is. She hasn’t had any luck with recent dates and is afraid she waited too long to make a relationship a priority. When she is about to bolt from her sister’s wedding after one too many rude questions about her single status, she runs smack into the sexy wall that is Levi Brooks, her unforgettable one night stand from college. They haven’t seen each other since but neither has ever forgotten that erotic encounter. Levi is charming, honest and the single father of a special needs child. His son Scotty is the love of his life and he isn’t looking for anything complicated. But when Levi and Jillian crash into each other, their old chemistry is reignited. They are desperate for each other and are combustible between the sheets. But finding the time without taking away from the needs of his son is hard. Levi is scared and feels guilty and unworthy of having it all. Jillian is all about family and feels hurt when Levi keeps her separate from his. I love Levi, he is such a great Dad, friend and lover. I could really feel his frustration and struggle to do the right thing for everyone. Jillian is funny, kind and loving and is the perfect match for both Levi and Scotty if they would only let her in. This story had such a natural flow as it uncovered so many layers and depth of each character. I really felt like I understood them and their decisions and couldn’t help falling in love with them. This is a sweet, sexy and emotional story that shouldn’t be missed!
Third book in the series, the eldest sister Jillian finds love with an old college fling. Levi is a father to 8 year old Scotty who has autism. There path to happiness is rocky and involves some insight into autism.
Okay, I’ll admit it: I wanted to read this because of the sexy beast on the cover, but then again, who wouldn’t? Franggy is magnificent and somehow he just made it into a book review. That man is perfect. Anyway, that is neither here nor there. Just know that I do judge books by their covers. Let it be known that this is a Fan-fucking-tastic cover.
Okay, so on to the book.
Jillian is the oldest Nixon sister and the last to find love.
Levi is a HBSDILTF. ‘Nuff said. Don’t know what that means? That’s cool, I’ll break it down for you: Hot Bearded Single/Super/Sexy/Spectacular Dad I’d Like To Fuck. You see how the ‘S’ could mean any number of words? Yeah, fill it in as you see fit.
Okay, so back to Jillian. She’s a pediatrician, works long hours, lives alone, and listens to everyone criticize her because she hasn’t met the one yet.
Levi is raising his 8 year old son by himself. His autistic son. He is also an architect and he has a beard. That’s important because not only is it HAWT, but his son also likes it. That’s important.
Levi and Jillian run into each other at Sebastian and Skylar’s wedding. Literally. Jillian turns around and slams right into Levi. Awesomesauce!! They have met before! Sparks fly, texts happen, let the sexy time commence.
Okay, so it doesn’t all happen on one night, but it does happen and it is sooo goood. I know because Jillian told me. She also told Skylar and Natalie. So, we all know and I’m not ruining anything for you.
In great effort to not spoiler the shit out of this review let’s just say that some stuff happens. Levi pushes Jillian away and he pulls her back. Repeatedly. Or maybe just once. Either way, it happens and both are miserable without each other. Both realize that their feelings didn’t just develop overnight. Both also admit to the amazing connection that they had 11–yes, 11–years prior to their encounter at the wedding. This relationship develops quickly, but it deals with some serious issues.
I appreciate the fact that Melanie Harlow tackles tough issues. Like she took on OCD and anxiety in Some Sort of Happy, she takes on autism in this book. She also takes on single parenting, being 30 and single, and navigating the difficulties of dating while raising a child alone.
3.5 Stars. This is the third book in the Happy Crazy Love series. It’s all about the oldest Nixon sister, Jillian. She’s feeling a little lost. Both of her younger sisters have found their HEAs and at thirty she’s still floundering. As the book opens, she’s at her sister’s wedding reception and feeling especially out of sorts. She’s tired of fielding questions about her love life, or lack of one. After all, she’s not getting any younger. Just ask any one of a dozen relatives. After several glasses of champagne, her current one recently emptied, she’s on her way to the bar to remedy the situation when she literally runs into a guy. A guy she actually met ten years ago. She really didn’t know him for long, just long enough for him to get a nickname…..
Levi Brooks is attending the wedding of one of his friends and business clients. He rarely gets a night out these days, an eight-year-old son will do that to a guy. Especially if that son is autistic. It’s hard for Levi to get time away from Scotty, even when he does he feels guilty about it. He’s about to leave the reception when he’s run into by one of the bridesmaids, literally. Wait…is that who he thinks it is???
This story is plenty steamy, which I’ll admit I ended up skimming through several scenes because it was getting a little ridiculous. Other than that, the way that Scotty’s autism is presented and the challenges associated with it are real. Levi’s struggles are ones that many parents of autistic children feel. Even though his family is well-meaning, they are not as aware as they probably should be. That’s not abnormal, either. This story has a lot of heart, angst, and support from family/friends in it. It’s heartwarming and entertaining and mostly pure fun.
Another home run. This series was fantastic. I loved the intertwined characters. The full circle conclusions of stories even if I do want more.
I want to say I want to be Levi’s mom during that kitchen scene.
Single dads might just be my newest favorite troupe. Couldn’t put this down once I started reading.
I cannot say enough about this.
Jillian and Levi were amazing together and apart.
Levi with Scotty was what someone would want in a partner. Selfish, caring, loyal, determined, dedicated, and loving.
Yes, they had struggles. Yes, there were hiccups. But that is what I love about Melanie’s stories – they’re real, relatable, and heartwarming.
Plus, the epilogue? Had me laughing and tearing up all at the same time.
4.5 stars
Some Sort of Love follows the oldest Nixon sister Jillian as she runs into an old friend from college at Skylar’s wedding. There is immediate chemistry between these two and they quickly form a relationship, but things are difficult between the two as Levi struggles to balance his life as a parent and wanting to spare time for what he wants, Jillian.
I loved Jillian and Levi. The chemistry between these two are explosive and guaranteed to wet your panties. They have an instant connection that left me so addicted for the moment they would be together since she’s his “Girl Friday”, the one day they can meet a week. Jillian was a breath of fresh air and probably one of the best female MC I’ve read about. She’s the definition the woman you take to meet your parents. She is strong, smart, caring, and understanding. I love the close-knit family that she has, something you don’t see too often. I loved that Jillian was able to turn to her two younger sisters for advice and comfort.
Levi is a tall, sexy architect with a hot beard, magic fingers, and the father to a 8 year old son. Levi is probably my favorite part of this book. He struggled to keep his life as a father separate from his relationship with Jillian. He’s afraid to he can’t give all of himself to Jillian and his son who has Autism. The struggle he goes through is so heartbreaking. But it makes the story that much more enjoyable. When it I finally finished this book, I shed a tear I hadn’t even realized slipped.
This is such a beautiful story. It is hot as hell and blazing in the steamy department. This book is what love stories are all about. I enjoyed every second reading this book. I couldn’t put it down for one second. I highly recommend you pick this book up. You will not be disappointed.
