When a psychic tells Natalie Nixon her life is about to be upended by a mysterious stranger, she laughs it off. After all, she has everything she’s ever wanted—a successful bakery, the perfect boyfriend, and the keys to her dream house. Who could possibly make her want to throw all that away? Then Miles Haas comes back to town. But he’s no stranger—they’ve known each other since high school. … other since high school. Plus, he’s only around for the summer, he’s still a shameless playboy, and he makes a living writing articles for a men’s magazine with titles like ‘Should You Bang the Boss’s Daughter? A Flowchart’ and ‘Butt Stuff for Beginners: A Field Guide.’
Except he makes her laugh like no one else, smells like heaven, and wears those panty-melting glasses. But he’s not the man of her dreams, and she’s not about to abandon everything she’s worked so hard for just for a little fun.
She’s not that crazy…or is she?
**SOME SORT OF CRAZY is a full-length, standalone contemporary romance.**

Some Sort of Crazy (Happy Crazy Love, #2) by Melanie Harlow .. this is a sexy story of two friends Natalie and Miles…. she owns a bakery shop … has the perfect boyfriend…and just bought her dream house. He writes articles for men’s magazines and blogs about his sex life and gives pointers for men. Natalie’s sisters Jillian (oldest) Skyler (middle) after a few to many drinks talk her in to visiting a psychic…that is where the fun starts and never ends until we get to the HEA… It’s a sexy and fun trip…
I’ll be back with my review, after I find a Miles of my own!
Well, it’s been a few days and I still haven’t tracked down my own Miles, gosh darn it!
Melanie Harlow is an automatic one-click author for me- I don’t even need to know what the book’s about, I don’t need to know a title, or see a teaser; I’m buying it no matter what. The woman hasn’t let me down yet, this book included.
Some Sort of Crazy is a friends-to-lovers story, it’s crazy, funny, sweet, sexy, happy, silly…everything you could want in a contemporary romance novel. This is such a fantastic book, it left me a little giddy! I loved everything thing about it…even the (view spoiler) But in this case I think it was just what Miles needed!
Natalie is such a relatable character, she’s strong and independent, with a vulnerability that keeps her real. Miles, what is not to love about him?!? I’ve come to the realization that reformed manwhores are my kryptonite…I can’t get enough of them. And Miles, Miles is so swoony, with his tattoos and glasses, and his teasing ways, yes I may be drooling.
I really enjoyed how we got to see both of these characters evolve and grow, especially Miles. He was so set in his ways, determined that a “real” relationship with one woman wasn’t in the card for him- he was happy with his life as it was, not planning on settling down, ever. But when he reconnects with Natalie he has no idea what he’s in for…
“Oh Jesus.
I couldn’t speak. I felt sort of sick to my stomach, too. And my chest – what the hell was going on in there? Was it love or cardiac arrest? Fucking hell, did people actually like this feeling? It was horrible.
I was going to die.”
God, I loved being inside of his head…it was the most fun!
Really, there was nothing I didn’t love about this book, even the spoiler I mention above…it just worked in this book, for these characters. Miles and Natalie get their second chance at love, and they do not disappoint.
Some Sort of Crazyis part of the A Happy Crazy Love series, but could be read as a standalone, but I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to read Some Sort of Happy (Skylar and Sebastian): A Happy Crazy Love Novel first…that book is in the running to be my top read of 2015!
I liked it even though Miles is a bit of a jerk while talking about love, relationships and family. It is his ultimate romantic gesture towards Natalie that saves his butt. It’s one of the most romantic scenes I’ve read.
This was a book more about staying with someone for 10 years because the relationship was comfortable as opposed to being in love with them.
Then Milo returns. Natalie knew her relationship with Dan was not right. Since she and Milo had friend zoned each other, i guess she thought he was safe. Until Dan gave her his little speech.
With Milo and Natalie, there was a LOT of sex, teasing, and fun. Pretty much all of it boring. They were the only ones having fun. It became a struggle for me. I really wanted to like this book, but at some point, I just got bored. I didn’t feel like there was any real romance, at least, not until the very end of the book. Two people who seemed incapable of communicating how they felt about one another. I thought it went on too long.
This series is definitely not about the Nixon sisters. Don’t get me wrong, they are cute and lovely and hot, but the guys are everything. I don’t read Melanie’s books in a chronological order, so I first met Miles in Cloverleigh Farm serie and he was hilarious! And now I know why and how that happened. He is the best part of this book, like Sebastian in the first book, like probably Levi in the 3rd book. I cannot wait…
Pushy annoying sisters who should at times just shut up and mind their own business, a jerk of an ex who cheated, a new/old guy she’d been in love with for years who has made it abundantly clear he was a relationship kind of guy and only wanted hot dirty sex with his favorite thing to call women he is having sex with is dirty slut and a pregnancy make for a ridiculous book. Done with the series. At times it was painful to listen to.little girl? Ewww. And who wants a partner who only marries her because she is pregnant?
Steamy messy love
Although I enjoyed reading this story there were a few things that irked me namely H calling h a s l u t a few times …. he was a dirty flirty man whore but he “affectionately “ called her that a few times .
Not cool
So miles out H Is a commitment phobe who has loved Natalie since forever but she’s always been with someone else some hides his feeing any being with other women – whoever women.
Natalie is in a dead end relationship and has always shared a close bond with miles but didn’t entertain any other idea because she knew he wasn’t a forever guy and was always with someone else .
Once they give each other a chance their chemistry is strong and explosive . But he still isn’t a forever guy so Natalie has to figure out what to do .
They do find their HEA though .
It’s hot and steamy and I did enjoy being immersed in this world the author has created .
Some Sort of Crazy is the second novel in the Happy Crazy Love Series but it can read as a standalone. I can truly say this since it is the first by Melanie Harlow I’ve read.I actually own many of her books but sadly have not gotten to them yet but I will. After, reading this one, I definitely want to read more about Sebastian and Skyler’s story. Ok, now onto Natalie’s!
Natalie is a planner. She always has been and that is why her life seems to be going perfectly, she has a thriving business, a new home and her boyfriend of ten years. Her relationship with Dan hasn’t always been easy or exciting but it’s comfortable. It’s boring and lacking and her sisters see that but she just doesn’t see it yet or in denial. Then one night they are out celebrating and ended up getting a psychic reading that tells her that a handsome stranger will be upending her life. She had no idea how much…
Miles is a traveler. A man-child. A writer and a sex God! He blog’s about Sex and the Single Guy and has never seen the attraction in settling down with one woman but then there is Natalie. She is different. She is the one that got away and he never has even kissed her. They have been friends forever but ten years ago when they were at that dating stage in their lives, he was too late. They had their almost moment but he knew he was not what she wanted or deserved. She wanted the family life and he even knew then, that is not what he wanted. Over the years, they had their flirty banter but now he wanted more…too bad he was still with douchebag Dan. But, he can’t stop thinking about her so he goes to her…
Natalie is surprised to hear from Miles, it’s been a few years and suddenly he was in town and wanting to see her. When they see each other, it’s like no time as passed. The flirty and filthy-minded Miles was making her blush and teasing her. She thinks it’s just the way Miles is with every other woman but it’s not, he truly means what he says but scared so makes it seem like a line of jokes. Natalie might come off cool and calm but she feels the connection and questions her feelings of lust for Miles. She shouldn’t want him. He is a man-child that would never commit but he makes her laugh and feel free so when Dan make the biggest mistake of his life, it’s the best thing that could happen to Natalie and Miles. It pushes them together and let’s them fly…
Miles and Natalie’s connection is intense, sexy, fun and beautiful. It may be all those things but after a week and it’s time to come back to reality, will it known as the week of mind-blowing sex between friends or the start of more? Is he the handsome stranger the psychic was referring to?
I loved this story. Hard! Miles is so fucking hilarious and hot. He likes to be in control in the bedroom but not afraid of being out of control either. He loves seeing and feeling Natalie’s controlling and secure side in the bedroom and out of it. And then there is Natalie, she starts off as standoffish but when Miles comes along, she lets go and has the time of her life. But will it last?
I think What I loved so much was that they didn’t want to change each other but help one another see more sides of themselves. And if changes happen, it’s not forced but wanted.
Overall…it was fucking hilarious, sexy and emotional. It also made me get hot and bothered, laugh out loud and sometimes even at the same time.
Quotes:
He placed his palm over his heart. “My loneliness is on the inside, Natalie. You can’t see it, but every morning I die a little, knowing your buns are on some other man’s plate.”
“Oh my God.” Rolling my eyes, I gave him a punch on the shoulder. “Enough. Tell you what. You get a girlfriend, I’ll give her the recipe.”
You can stop being hard now. It’s not happening tonight. I know that’s a shock, but just relax already. I’ll pay attention to you later.
“Everything is different with you. Everything feels like a first.”
This book had me turning pages quickly. I loved everything about it. From the beginning with the psychic and her predictions to Natalie and her shop and Miles and his humor he brought to the book. The heat between these two was smoking hot, the story was a great take on the friends to lovers troupe. It’s well written and held my attention throughout (which is hard at this point in our world with covid-19) yes I’m a little slow getting to this book, but even though it’s almost a 5 year old book, the story stays in the present, this book will stand the test of time for sure. It was just nice to read a book where the female really takes a hard look at her life and realizes that settling is not the way to go. And on the flip side that the male can go from his single life of lots of women to figuring out when he has one that makes all that stop.
I could only hope to have someone in my life like Miles is in Natalie’s!!
Some Sort Of Happy was the second book in Melanie Harlow’s Happy Crazy Love Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, so don’t worry if you read the series a little out of order (you might get a few spoilers on the previous couple, but nothing that would ruin their story). Some Sort Of Happy followed suit from the last book, super sexy, racy and hot!
Natalie’s bakery was turning a profit, she was talking about taking the next step with her long time boyfriend; life was perfect, until she had a physic reading. According to her, her life would soon be quite different. Could that be true?
Miles was good at playing the field, he was in no hurry to settle down. But when he saw Natalie again, something about her made him stop in his tracks. But she was in a committed relationship, could there ever be a chance?
Unfortunately, this was my least favorite book out of the series. I thought they were a cute couple and it was hot and racy but some of the things he called her, didn’t sit well with me. I don’t know…I enjoyed it, and want to read the next book but it was just OK. I really hate it when I don’t love a book, I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings because I know these stories are someone’s blood, sweat and tears. But I also don’t want to be dishonest in my review. I hope you take a chance on this series and I am curious to know your thoughts!

Some Sort Of Crazy is a contemporary romance by Melanie Harlow. Ms. Harlow has crafted a well-written book and furnished it with an outstanding cast of characters. It is written in first person, alternating point of view, not my favorite format, but we don’t always get what we want. It didn’t bug me as much as it usually does because the humor in this book is fabulous. Miles and Natalie have been best friends since they met. Their story is loaded with drama, humor and steamy sexy bits. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Melanie Harlow in the future. Some Sort Of Crazy is book 2 in the Happy Crazy Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Some Sort of Crazy: A Happy Crazy Love Novel book 2 by Melanie Harlow and this review was given freely.
Unplanned pregnancy,a supportive group of sisters, a hint of the mystic, and a steamy reformation of a playboy love story with lots of innuendos a bit of bondage. Shortly after a drunken night leads the Nixon sisters to Medium Psuka’s door, Natalie’s planned and ordered life becomes chaotic as she discovers her long term boyfriend Dan cheating and her 10 year attraction to her childhood best friend and summer neighbor Miles growing.
I loved the story of Natalie, and Miles sooooooo much!!!
They knew each other growing up and literally lived next door to each other.
They went their separate ways for college, and life, and things are spiralling out of control for Nat. Miles comes for a visit and it couldn’t have been at a better time!
Nat and her bf at the time, Dan are having a break, but then Miles shows up and upends everything for her.
Nat needed the break and this visit, but she finds out more about herself, and Miles than she ever knew before.
One thing after another happens, and life is more complicated than Nat wanted but she def needed it.
Miles keeps joking about life, and things, but then he realises his real feelings for Nat. Those that had been laying dormant for all of those years.
Can they make it work?
My fave quotes from the book:
1. “Now let go so I can turn on the light and get you some water. Or a tranquilliser dart.” – LOL! Miles!
2. You don’t care that you’ll be sleeping in the same bed as my erection all night long? – LOL! Miles cracks me up!
3. “You’ll give me all my lasts too.” – SWOON MOMENT!
This has to be my third or fourth time reading this book and every time I forget how swoon-worthy Miles is. He is supposed to be portrayed as this playboy but deep down he always had feelings for Natalie which made it explosive when they finally got together. His thoughts and fears and feelings made him real and more lovable in the end. An excellent book in this series!
Another wonderful visit with the Nixon sisters. Natalie seemed so settled until she wasn’t.
Well edited. Read in boxed set.
Natalie seems to have everything lined up in her life. Thriving business: check. Own home: check. Long-term committed relationship (Dan): check. Long-term best guy friend (Miles): check. Everything is going swimmingly until Miles shows up for a visit. Suddenly, she’s having thoughts about her best friend she thought she’d never have (well, mostly anyway). And when Dan has a night out with the guys, Natalie has a dinner with Miles. Except Dan isn’t out with the guys… When things blow apart in the committed relationship department, Miles is ready and willing to help let off some steam. After all, it’s something he’s wished for for a long time. The problem with Miles is he’s a committed play boy. Writes articles about his escapades. Makes a good living that way. So, when opportunity presents itself, will he leave that behind for a future with Natalie that he never envisioned? And how will the (oops) positive pregnancy test play into that decision? Will they grab on for the ride of their lives, or will they let the chaos swallow what could have been?
Natalie and Miles are just great together. And, we get to hear from Skylar and Sebastian. Win, win. Enjoy!
My definition of a couple who are ‘perfect for each other’ is two people who inspire and encourage one another to be the best versions of themselves, who can challenge their partner to be better without asking them to change who they are, and who compliment each other’s weaknesses with their own strengths. I’m always on the lookout for romance novels that manage to convey this kind of a connection, and are able to delve deeply enough into their characters’ intricacies to make the bond between them seem real and compelling. I was beyond impressed with ‘Some Sort of Crazy’ in this respect and can’t praise it highly enough.
While Miles is definitely up there on the ‘Hottest Love Interests in Romance’ list, and though the steamier sections of the book were hot with a capital H, I think what I appreciated most in the story was seeing Natalie’s transformation from an obsessed workaholic content to settle for a sub-par relationship to a balanced and badass woman who was ready to demand more from both herself and the man she was falling in love with. In allowing herself to be with Miles, Natalie discovers a new side of herself she’s previously kept locked up. Her experiences with him give her the chance to find herself and figure out what’s important in her life. This in turn urges Miles to grow and reevaluate himself, giving him the choice between stepping up his game or losing the woman he’s come to love.
Melanie Harlow has certainly found herself a place on my list of favourite romance writers. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and get caught up on all this awesome author’s work.
All I have to say is Miles! I absolutely fell in love with him! You have to read to know why!!!
5 Flaming stars to SOME SORT OF CRAZY!!!! I absolutely loved this second book in Melanie’s series. The main characters Natalie and Miles are amazing. Natalie likes everything planned. She thinks she knows exactly what she wants for her future…until Miles comes back into her life. Miles is a sexy, crazy, spontaneous bachelor that doesn’t think he will ever want commitment, marriage or children….WRONG!! I love the way they banter back and forth, it was very realistic. I appreciated that there wasn’t too much angst during this story. Sometime authors get carried away making the characters suffer unrealistically. Melanie has written many wonderful books and I have loved them all. SSOC will remain with me for some time, it was just that good!! Thank you Melanie for supplying me with an advanced copy!!! Bring on book 3 please!!
