“Danger was part of my job description, but none of my contingency plans anticipated an attack by a Maine Coon.” It’s summer on Whisper Island. Ex-cop-turned-private-investigator Maggie Doyle is looking forward to sun, fun, and romance. Instead, she gets bills, an assault allegation, and a busted wrist. To add insult to injury, there’s a movie being filmed on the island, and Maggie’s diva sister … island, and Maggie’s diva sister has been cast in it—her debut role. While other residents clamor for parts as extras, Maggie wants nothing to do with the shoot.
But when hotshot director Con Ryder asks Maggie to investigate a series of suspicious accidents on the movie set, she can’t afford to refuse. Maggie and her UFO-obsessed assistant, Lenny, go undercover as extras, with Lenny intent on enjoying every second of the experience, and Maggie determined to solve the mystery and leave as quickly as possible. Maggie’s hopes for a quick-fix solution are shot to pieces when the woman who accused her of assault turns up dead.

Maggie and Lenny are up to their eyes investigating more mysterious accidents on the island. Can they figure what is going before it is to late? Will Maggie figure who is behind the accidents on the set before one of her friends or family get hurt? Keep reading for laughs and for surprises in what is coming next. Loved getting back to the island and seeing what is going on with everyone in Whisper Island.
This is a great cozy mystery. This is the first book in the series that I read and I enjoyed it. If you are looking for something to distract you for this pandemic, this book fits the bill.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my voluntary review.
Great read! Kept me hopping from one page to the next. Never knew what to expect. Definitely a page tuner. Exciting and action filled. Total surprise on who dunnit.
The gang is back for another adventure. There are some unexpected twists and turns. If you are a fan of this series you will not be disappointed. I stayed up reading all night!
ARC received from author for an honest review
There are two places on the planet I never want to visit – the town/county of Midsomer, and Whisper Island – they both have a disproportionate number of murders!
Though at least on Whisper Island we have Maggie, Liam and Lenny looking out for us!
I really enjoyed this 6th installment in the Movie Club series.
I liked learning more about Maggie’s sister -even if she was quite unlikable at times. The dynamic between them was interesting to say the least.
I am usually pretty cluey, and have a bit of an idea of whodunnit, however with this one I was very late to the game on even having an inkling of who it was, and I like that.
I have always liked Maggie’s assistang Lenny, however in this installment, I felt that he really came into his own, and is still as amusing as every.
And Liam is still as wonderful as ever.
I look forward to more Whisper Island adventures
Another great read by Zara Keane ! Maggie and her sidekick Lenny get a little help from a Maine coon to help solve this zany mystery ~~ not just a murder mystery but also a little romance, illegal goings on, and sabotage. Light, entertaining reading with just enough laughs and unpredictability to keep you turning pages to find out “what next”!
It was an easy book to read, not sure how it would end but lots of interesting twists. Very enjoyable and can be read easily in one sitting.
