She’s taking a dating hiatus. He’s determined to date her.Add a kilt & a Scottish accent,& let the Highland Games begin. After Lark’s Harpswell’s boyfriend leaves her with an empty fridge and a maxed-out credit card, she’s determined to avoid irresponsible men. If she needs romance, she’ll live vicariously through her favorite historical Highlander novels. So, when gorgeous Dag Ross–the … when gorgeous Dag Ross–the local Mr. Irresponsible–asks her out, she turns him down.
During the day, Dag lounges in bed or works as a part-time handyman for a friend. At night, and under a secret pen name, he writes wildly popular romance novels featuring a brawny, sword-wielding Scotsman named Duncan Magnus Ferguson MacLeod. Convinced true love doesn’t exist outside of fiction, he’s blindsided when he meets Lark. And when he sees her with her favorite romance novel–his novel–and she hints she’ll date a hero like Duncan, he takes on her Highlander wooing challenge.
Who would’ve thought Dag dressed in a kilt, spouting Scottish phrases could be this…hot? Keeping him at arms-length is getting harder by the minute. Lark will have to decide if she can trust Dag not to hurt her, and Dag will have to drop the walls he’s erected around his heart to let love inside. Or they risk losing their happily ever after.
The Crescent Cove Series features laugh-out-loud moments, plenty of swoony romance, on-the-page heat, no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Each book is standalone and can be read in any order.
Look for SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE, Roan’s story, in March, then two books in my companion, interwoven romantic suspense series to follow.
This book is 85,000 words.

I was granted an ARC of Marlie May’s “SOME LIKE IT SCOT: A Crescent Cove Contemporary Romance” via Booksprout; I recommend this book to others based upon its own merits. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given!
Until next time… Happy Reading!
What can I say about this book. It will make you happy, it will make you sad. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. It’s oh so romantic. The main characters, Dag and Lark, draw you in and you can’t help but care what happens to them.Their love will be tested. I’ll be reading more by this author. I really loved this book.
SOME LIKE IT SCOT is the first book in the Crescent Bay series. Though not a continuing story, they will need to be read in the order of release.
Not only is this the first book in the series, it is the first book released by Marlie May and she did a wonderful job of it! I’m chomping at the bit to get the next book in the series.
The story is sweet, sexy, romantic comedy at its classic best. I love the way they meet and meet again until there is no way to deny they are meant to spend time together. I love the way he is willing to do anything – no matter how cutely silly – to get her to agree to that first date that is really a third (?) date. You’ll have to read it to know why I question that one. I loved this story; I loved the characters, their passions, and their causes. With every revelation, I still wanted to know more. I was invested in every page.
Finally, I loved the hints that will lead us to other books in this series. I know many seasoned writers who do not do as good a job at leaving those breadcrumbs that will entice to further book sales. Again, I must say, extremely well done, Marlie May!
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I like almost anything Scottish (except haggis) and this book fed my addiction well. Lark is a struggling recent college grad working to support herself and younger sister who loves Scottish historical romances. Dag writes Scottish historical romances under a pen name and fiercely guards his privacy. Both have been badly burned in love before and have to learn to trust again. They have quite a few struggles to overtcome, but they do get their HEA in the end.
She is not having a good year. She has a purse full of bills and is hungry since her ex left no food and a lot of bills. She has a charity to get set up right, pay the bills, stay away from men and more. He works part time and writes romance novels under a fake name. It is funny because she won’t date him as she thinks he is lazy and so on but she loves his books. Just doesn’t know it is him. He wants her but is having trouble with that. It is exciting to watch the life dance these two have. I voluntarily review this copy for booksprout.
Dag is masquerading as a sort of loser, drifting along, doing handyman jobs, when in reality, he’s a very successful Highland Scots romance writer under a female pen name. Lark is a long-time waitress who’s been burned by her ex, and has trust issues because of it. So it seems odd these two would ever get together. But they do, and things are going along swimmingly until he has a meltdown courtesy of some misplaced distrust of his father, and ends things in a horrible way with Lark.
Can Lark find it in her heart to ever forgive him when he takes his stupid head out of his ass and realizes he wants her back?
I’m a bit torn on how to rate Some Like it Scot. On one hand, I was mostly enjoying it it until Dag inserted his head into his ass and behaved like such a jackass. But once that happened, I stopped enjoying it. The pace lagged at that point and didn’t pick back up until it rushed to the ending. And then there’s the fact that there was no groveling, no begging, and one lousy sorry that came out of Dag’s mouth. If my husband had pulled what Dag did, he’d never have become my husband unless he had done some heavy duty ass kissing, chocolate gifting, and spa day pampering first, and that’s after he had cried like a baby and apologized first. Dag’s pitiful apology didn’t even come close to what Lark deserved, and she took him back. Sigh…it ruined the entire story for me at that point. So three stars it is.
What I liked:
Some of the characters
Dual POVs
Part of a series: Crescent Cove
Standalone
HEA
I had a hard time staying interested in this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from Booksprout.
